Does someone have an XZ1C with firmware 47.2.A.10.28_R3C and working VoLTE?
I have used my unbranded XZ1C with Oreo - unlocked, and with the drm fix for firmware - for quite a long time, and VoLTE was working. My provider: German Telekom. Now I switched to Android 9, and VoLTE stopped working. Sony Mobile support tells me that in this combination (FW + Provider) VoLTE works fine. Either they made a mistake (and didn't test it for real), or it has something to do with the unlocked boot loader on this FW. I already tried another XZ1C (one with, one without TA backup), and another SIM. Maybe you could share your opinions (since there is no working twrp for XZ1C Pie, resetting, locking/unlocking and exchanging FW is more time consuming than it once was....)
Thank you all

I am currently in quite a conundrum, and was hoping one of you guys could help me out.
I recently bought a Xperia Z c6616 From Bell Canada and was under the understanding that the bootloader was unlocked, but to my (not so much (considering its bell)) surprise, it listed me as no under the configuration tab in the services menu (as mentioned on the official sony page.)
I am not financially in a position to buy a new phone, and both sony and bell have turned their backs on me.
What i have done so far :
after some research i came across this page: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z-ZL-ZR/Xperia-z-locked-bootloader/td-p/314658
IT suggested i flashed a generic rom, so i chose this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/ftf-stock-10-1-1-434-4-1-2-global-se-t2223827
My device IS currently rooted, and is running on the ftf mentioned above ([FTF] Stock 10.1.A.1.434 (4.1.2) GLOBAL SE unbranded C6603(LTE) [.253 OTA])
To Sum up the question, I am a developer and would like to utilize a unlocked bootloader, but am unaware of what to do next to get it unlocked.
Please help.
Thanks in Advanced!

You cannot do anything. Your bootloader is permanently locked and there's no way around it.
Flashing generic software doesn't affect the bootloader and the bootloader unlock status is stored in a protected partition (the TA) and cannot be unofficially altered.

Hello guys,
My Xperia Z1 used to be able to screen mirror to my Samsung Smart TV when it was still in Kitkat 4.4.4 (firmware 14.4.A.0.157 i believe). However, after updating to the current Lollipop 5.0.2, the screen mirroring feature does not seem to work; everytime i try both devices would get stuck in connecting for a while and then Z1 would disconnect with the toast message: cannot turn on screen mirror.
Now, the interesting thing is, back in 4.4.4, i rooted the phone using the method of flashing and rooting an older kernel (14.4.A.0.108) with EasyRoot , and after updating to 5.0.2, i lost root access. One of my friends has the exact same Z1, the only difference is that he never rooted, and after the update, his Z1 can still screen mirror just fine.
The question is: Has the rooting process i used affected the screen mirror feature in some way? And more importantly, does anyone know how to fix this issue?
Is your bootloader unlocked? After unlocking bootloader you lose the DRM keys from your phone which in turn means you lose features like ScreenMirroring, BIONZ image processing algorithms and X-reality. So these features won't work on a device with an unlocked bootloader.
Well no, my bootloader isn't unlocked, which is why i find it weird that while TrackID still works, Screen Mirroring doesn't.

I had same problem but exact opposite, it never worked on 4.4.4 on samsung tv but now on 5.0 it works ! on sony tv it has always worked !
Hi XDA guys,
I got a Huawei P9 EVA-DL00 from China and want to use it in Europe (Germany). As I don't know Chinese I would like to change language/region properties to make it as international as possible. I'm not sure what is the smartest way to do so: keep and modify the original ROM as far as possible and accept it's limitations or to flash a different ROM.
To keep the chinese firmware seems to have a couple of limitations though, i.e even after changing region settings to my needs there are still only chinese language settings in the stock browser, lock screen and others, I couldn't find Google play store in HiApp (and ended up installing an apk from a site that I don't know if it's trustful), HiVoice is in Chinese and so on. Therefore my prefered solution is to install a different firmware to make my phone similar to the international P9 version EVA-L19 with CUST C432 - but I don't know if this is possible at all and in which limitations/problems this would result.
Currently my firmware is EVA-DL00C17B183, I received it OTA in Germany right after connecting the device with the internet for the first time. The service menu reports vendor: unicom, country: cn - no sim lock. So is it possible to flash a EVA-L19 ROM on my device at all? Somewhere I read flashing a chinese model with a european firmware would end up in having a C900 firmware that doesn't receveive major OTA updates, is this correct?
I'm not really familiar with unlocking/rooting/flashing mobile phones. I'm for sure willing to find out how this needs to be done - this doesn't mean I don't appreciate any hints - but I am a bit worried to brick the mobile and I would prefer to do a manual flash only as an initial step and be able to receive OTA updates also for major updates (such as Android 7.0 one day) later on in the future. Furthermore I would like to have a 100% working and reliable mobile and not to end up with a not properly working hardware support or whatever. All in all I don't know if it's worthy to take the 'trouble' of flashing a different ROM.
Thanks for any information and help!
Andy
I got a P9 from my tour in China. I like its dual lens feature. Leica is another reason. My old mobile phone needed charging three times in two days and I lost battery charge for my camera. I easily changed the language setting. Most of the apps don't work well in US. I downloaded google store, through which I installed most apps used in my old phone. However there are a few good Huawei apps that I keep using. Another feature I like is the dual SIM slot, through which I expanded its memory.

Only way to do it is to first unlock bootloader and flash TWRP and root. Then u must change oeminfo and custom with SrkTool Huawei. If u dont have experience on flashing and root i would stay away from trying.
Have you found a way to make it 'non-chinese'? Struggling with the same problem now and wondering if it would be possible to just install stock android since the problem is with EMUI.

Hi, is possible to unlock the bootloader on this model (DL00)? Because, i tried but it says "failed (remote: command not allowed)"
Thanks
@Stieglers due to a lack of time I didn't complete the process yet, but I'm very optimistic it is possible.
@EtiZimm It is possible to unlock the bootloader of DL00. I got the unlock code from the Huawei website (am not allowed to post an external link: emui[dot]huawei[dot]com/en/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail - login with Huawei ID necessary).
Once you received this code - in my case I received instantly - you can unlock the bootloader either manually with adb (USB driver needed):
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot oem unlock <unlock code>
or with SRK Tool (I would just avoid v2.0 as virus scanner reports the main exe to be malware infected).

Hi guys. I'm due an upgrade soon and have never had a sony phone before and was thinking of getting the xz3. What's the custom rom development like on Sony? Are they easy enough to root and mod? My current phone is HTC 10 and looking for something different. Any advise appreciated :good:
Generally my experience is that custom rom development for Sony flagships is quite active and varied. However, the phone has only been out for barely a month and there is no TWRP or DRM fix for the phone yet.
However, it does run Android Pie, so whenever a (stable/working) TWRP is released you should be able to flash any Project Treble ROMs.

Thanks for the info. I was reading about drm today and how it can stop camera and bravia from working. Seems like a minefield. Do you have to unlock bootloader before rooting Sony devices? Is it done through adb or is there a tool or app for rooting?

Yes, rooting implies modifying the boot partition, for which you need to unlock your boot loader. Unlocking your boot loader destroys the TA partition which contains your DRM keys. Once unlocked you can flash a custom recovery (like TWRP) through ADB, and then you can install Magisk using the ZIP flash functionality of your custom recovery.
Can anyone check if you can enable OEM unlock in developer option?
SOMC disabled OEM unlocking in Pie update for XZ2 and it may affect XZ3.
XZ2 has Oreo rom and downgrade is possible, but XZ3 is shipped with Pie, so...

Same with my german h8416 (t-mobile ger)
I have find this today: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Andr...unlocking-option-greyed-out/td-p/1348087#gref
the next release date is arround 15 december, i think.
15 december too long from now, should fix this asap. No excuse not to fix this when Sony lists XZ3 as open device....
note:the reference you gave does not list 15 december, assuming this is your guess?

If it was sold as single SIM (L09), you cannot 'transform' (by changing firmware) to dual SIM (L29), because there are hardware differences.
For any flashing (changing cust for stock firmware, custom ROM, rooting, TWRP) you have to buy Bootloader code and unlock Bootloader (it is possible but the code is costly)

They are expensive. I'm also waiting for their answer (people say they answer from time to time, they depend on an insider, when he is able...):
https://imei.by/delivery
Ministry can also do it, little cheaper (40$) but you will need to open back cover and connect Testpoint pins. Minister will need Team Viewer remote access to your PC. I guess (didn't go for, waiting if I can buy from the first above) he will low-level flash an old Oreo, where from it was possible to generate BL code. Then he would, IMO, update back to Pie. Guy told me the operation might take an hour or two:
https://ministryofsolutions.com/paid-services/amp
I was also told that those can provide the code but for ridiculously high price (you can ask them):
https://funkyhuawei.club/
Finally, don't use them, they only unlock BL for one-time (and high price) you don't get the code:

Exactly for VTR-L09 or some other Huawei model (it's not the same)
A year ago I played for a week and rebranded EVA-L09 to L19, tried a lot but it never became dual SIM.
To the other side, similar rebranding to dual SIM model worked fine and straightforward for P9 Lite
Edit: You could have provide a link to spread info and help the community (if single SIM P10 can be really rebranded to dual SIM)
This is what i got with MT tool
Can i install one of those updates and if ok how can i perform it
Thank's
