This is really strange and weird.
I have played with the internet via 3G/WI-Fi and then disconnect.
The phone was doing nothing, and stand by in my pocket.
Then I heard miss call sound and saw a miss call from "Unknown" duration 00:00.
Hmm ...
Then I cannot call any number !
Everytime I try to call a number, I got this error:
Cannot complete the call. The signal may be unavailable or the phone number may not be valid. Verify the number or try again later.
There was nothing I can do, except soft-reset.
This happened twice within 30 minutes ... Got miss call from "Unknown" then phone call dead !
Anyone got this problem before? what cause this?
Thanks.
i have the same problem
ever since i have updated i cant seem to call anyone or recive calls i get the same error message"cannot complete the call the signal may be....."
does any one have a fix for this
@gogol - I'm not sure what would cause that. Are you using the official ROM?
@liam9646 - You said this happened after "updating"- do you mean flashing a new ROM? Custom or official?
@both of you- Have you tried a new radio?

Have you solved the problem? If yes how?
Is it just me or are you also expiriencing restarts during a phone call?
Its ususaly 10 sec after the conection is established anounced with some "electrical bruum"" niose ..
There are no memory tweaks on my phone.
KraFT
Sorry for bumping this thread but I just want to check if others are experiencing similar problems.
Despite those restarts else is working perfectly and I do like this device a lot....
The problem.
On every (average) 10 calls I made, the Diamond restarts by it self in the middle of the conversation.
Its usually 5-10 seconds after the call is established announced with some "electrical brruum" noise
in the speaker.
In the beginning I was thinking that this is something with the software settings and I did checked all the network settings but so far no progress.
Yesterday I tested the phone by leaving it next to the radio with the connection established for 25 minutes
with my wife`s phone, on the same T-mobile network.
This test went without any problems. Twice...
(Note: Its a free call for people in my circle - T-Mobile package)
Today I had more restarts.
Two of them were in my car ( for the first time) with the loud speaker "on" and 5 restarts during a regular call.
So far all the restarts happened only when I dialed the numbers.
I cant provoke the restart and I cant diagnose the problem.
This is slowly becoming a huge problem for me.
I did two hardresets but there were no changes also.
No tweaks were applied ...
Does anyone experienced any similar problems?
Thanks,
KraFT
With "hardware restart" do you mean "hard reset"?
Have you done hard reset?

I was 100% positive that this will solve my problems…I was so sure that today I replaced the SIM card twice at T-Mobile … Unfortunately the problem remains the same.Again today on every 3 - 5 calls I made the device restarts by it self announced with the same electrical noise …No specific rules to provoke that… Usually after 4 or 5 sec .I am doing my third and last hard-reset today and I will re-test everything during the weekend.I hope that someone will write down the solution …

Why dont you jsut return the diamond where you got it from and get a new one??. Seems like your just wasting your time when it seems like its the phone that is faulty. Seriously get it replaced or fixed.
Thats what I am going to do on Monday.
I just hope that someone will sugest a fix.
K
A fix ! demand a new one well witin 28 days
I also experience exactly the same problem. When the phone is running 3G I can make calls without a problem but when it reverts to GSM and if I make a call I hear a buzzing sound and the phone restarts. Once again only when on the GSM network.
Any advice. I have the stock WWE latest rom with Hard SPL

Ok.
1. Quick fix...
Change 2 registry entries in the following part of the registry for GPRS/3G Auto-Disconnect...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\
**Change the DWORD "CacheTime" to the number of seconds the connection should remain active (I use 60 seconds)
**Change the String "SuspendResume" from "~GPRS" to "GPRS_bye_if_device_off" (without the quotes).
Restart...
That's it.
2. Slow fix...
I had this problem with 1.93 rom.
The fix above solved my problem.
With the htc 2.03 stock rom my radio was updated and the problem was gone...
No need for any fix anymore.

Hi,
I have a brand new Xperia SP, manufactured on 2013/W50, so it's really new. It contains the latest stock firmware.
After I start or answer a call and put the phone to my ears, it's screen doesn't came back and remains off until the call is ended by the other party. No matter if I'm moving the phone away from my head, not even the hard buttons are turning the screen back on. The touchscreen is not working either. It's just stuck as if it's near to my head. I can't even hang up the call...
It happens about 80% of time. Sometimes it works as expected without any problems. Happens more often when having an incoming call after a longer period (30+ mins) or if the call takes more than 1 minute (auto screen disable time?).
As a workaround, I turned on the function that power button hangs up call, but I cannot use my touchscreen while call.
I checked the proximity sensor with the phone's diagnostic function and with cpu-z and the sensor is just working fine 100% of the time.
Is it a known bug or a hardware problem? Does it have a workaround?
hmmm

I have the same problem. It is one of the few bugs in 12.0.a.2.254 build. Guys using unofficial release of 4.3 are not facing such problems. I suggest you to wait for the official 4.3 update which will be released soon according to SONY. :good:
really?

so, this is surely a known bug in the 254 firmware? I'm just wondering because I asked this on other xperia sp forums but no users complained about it.
is there a workaround for it?
yes

thanks to both of you, I'll do factory reset and repair via PC software, and some more factory resets. that should solve the problem.
I'm wondering why an out-of-the-box phone needs a reset, but let's see

I reset applications, did a factory reset, reinstalled phone's software with sony pc application, checked after each step, but no success...
sometimes working, sometimes not (mostly not) but the proximity sensor works fine.

Bring it to a sony service(or how's it called to your country)
it seems it's related to deep sleep. when I am called after the phone was left for 30+ minutes, it's more willing to not turning on the screen, but it turns it on after a while if having a long call. when I start the call, it mostly works. not always, but most of the time.
so it seems it's not sensor-related but something like the software is bugging.
what I don't really understand, why the hardware buttons are disabled while phoning when the phone is put to the face. it'd be enough to code that power button turns on/off the screen no matter what the proximity sensor says. I'd program it like that as a backup solution.
I wouldn't send it for repair, here in Hungary I always hear that mobile phone services just reinstall software and don't care about testing or finding the problem (if not deterministic), and do it again and again while you get tired and accept the failure. yes, it's sad but in the time of MNCs, the user doesn't matter at all after bought the product.

Try flashing custom firmware(not sure if it will work try it)...
If it doesn't work again then it's a hardware fault and not a software bug

yes, that's another option. the other option is to cry off from purchase (I can do it within a week), they return the money, and I buy another one. I'll see as this is not that disturbing problem and I have no other problems with the phone like wifi bug or anything else.
someone said it's a bug so I hope 4.3 next month will solve it.
Hello!
I am on B148 (Vodafone Germany branded) and I have the following problem:
On normal phone calls sometimes the person i talk to does not hear me. If I call another person the effect persists.
I can remedy this by user the recorder app. After recording something, I can call normally and the other side of the call can normally hear me.
When I got the phone I did not have this problem and I may rule out hardware problem by being able to remedy the bug by using the recorder app. Is ther any setting on the phone that can permanently cure this problem?
Also, I saw there is some B170 Firmware out already, any idea when we get this on VF branded phones in germany?
Thanks and kind regards,
Sascha

Dear Sascha,
This is an interesting bug. This may help you out but if you perform this, you will lose all of your data if you will not backup your data. I think this is just how you said, the mic app is not installed properly or something else happened to it.
Try factory reset. (If you don't know, power off then hold down: vol up and power buttons. After 2 seconds release the power button only, and you will be taken to the recovery section. Maybe you will need e-recovery, this way you could also download the latest update if only your updater app has a problem. To do this: hold down Vol Up and power button, BUT connected to a pc. After that you can disconnect and click to install the latest update.
By the way I have the b161 update, still waiting for a newer version.. My version: pra-lx1c55b161
Hope it helped.

Hi Gedeon,
thanks for the reply. I tried factory reset via the hotkeys at book earlier, with no success.
eRecovery was new to me, I tried it but it could not find the image online.
Next I tried system recovery via the PC-hisuite but hisuite tells me it can not emergency restore my firmware as its not supported .... ?
So unfortunately I am still having this problem
Kind regards,
Sascha

Hi Sascha,
Hm.. I don't know why your device can't find the image and why the factory reset not worked, but the problem is maybe with your hardware.
Do you spilled any water into it, or dropped it even from a small distance? There is a little chance for this but it's there, maybe your microphone was fauilty from the day you bought and the symptoms came later..
Maybe if you have guarantee on it you could return for a repair..
P.s. Sorry for my bad English knowledge
Hope I can help somehow,
Gedeon
