Hi folks,
I've the weird bug that sometimes I can't answer an incoming call. The accept button is not reacting if I'm trying to press. I don't think this has something to do with the touch, since I can see that the green button is getting greyed out as soon as I press on it. The only workaround seems to be a restart.
Did any of you had the same issue? What would be the best solution for that? For the record: I'll factory reset my device soon, but maybe this is a software bug or sth.
Thanks!
Update: Did a factory reset. Before I did a backup with HiSuite and restored the data (would not recommend since it doesn't restored all the apps) but the issue still occurred a few calls later. I hope this will be fixed with the next update.
Similar issue
Hello did this problem still occur? I have a similar issue where I recieve an incoming call with the ringtone but it doesn't appear fully in my screen like a phone calls does. Instead it appears when you slide down to check notifications in your phone and it disappears and reappears while the call is coming through. I also cannot accept the call as it doesn't seem to work, I have restarted my phone 3 times since and nothing changed. Also this morning while I was in the phone to one person, for 2 seconds it disconnected and stated calling another contact. I did think about factory resetting but I'm not sure if I should do or not. Never had a problem with my handset up until now.

exactly the same problem occured to my P20 lite today. The more: at my outgoing calls I can get a connection, but when I put the phone on my ear the screen goes dark and lit periodically as if I touched it (in fact by face but it didn't do it this way in the past, the phone "recognized" the touch by cheek). It is similar to on/off switching of a notification tab when call is incoming. I was recommended to make a factory reset by a support guy at O2.

Also having the exact same issue on my Huawei P10. But the fact that the same problem appeared to you guys at the exact same time makes me feel relieved, this is certainly a problem on Huawei's end that will soon be fixed

Hello!
Had the same issue with friends Huawei P20 Lite with the incoming call showing only on notification bar, flickering and reapearing all the time. Found something that could help you out, worked for my friend so maybe you can try too. Go to Settings-Apps-Apps(again)-3 dots on right upper corner-Show System Processes From here find 3 apps (Phone, Phone Services and Phone/Messaging Storage). Open each up, press - Force Stop, then press Storage and Clear both (Cache and Data). Should be it. Then try to call your phone from different number to check if it helped you.
My p20 lite started with this yesterday too. Unable to answer calls or hang up. Flashing screen. I had to do a full back up using HiSuite and then restore to factory settings. I've used HiSuite to restore my phone but I can't get the apps to work properly. I wonder if there has been an update that has screwed everything up.
try this

Thanks a lot DaniiiTs!
Couldn't find any answer on German Websites, but your solution worked perfectly!
Greetings from Germany and again, thanks for your help

I love the Moto X. Wanted one when it was first announced and I ended up buyiing the VZW DevEd through the Black Friday sale. Lately I have been having a lot of problems with my phone and Im not sure what is going on and if it is an app update or a system problems but I'll describe the issues I am having and will let you guys suggestion ideas of how to fix it.
1) When ever I open up the stock contacts app it is always saying "Contacts list is being updated". Some times I'll open it up and I can see all the contacts listed correctly but when I select a contact to view its details I just get a blank screen.
2) This might be due to the contacts app, but when every I receive a phone call from a known contact the phone app only provides me with the phone number and not exactly who the caller is as defined in the contacts. Also when I receive a phone call while the phone is locked with the screen off the screen does not light up but the ring tone is played. Even picking up the phone does not light up the screen. I have to hit the lock button which silences the phone then hit it again to light the screen up then I can select answer or end call. Thats all hoping the caller is still callling me as this process takes a while.
3) Kind of the samething above but with the stock clock app and an active alarm. The phone has been super laggy that I can't silence or snooze and alarm in the morning quickly. I have to place my finger on the ring wait a few seconds to see it light up that I have selected the ring then I can move it to dismiss or snooze. When I select one of those options and let go it will pause on the screen and stay light for 10 seconds and then the selection will process correctly
4) This may be subjective but I think my battery life right now is really bad. I check the battery stats and it seems fine but when I use it the battery seems to drain really fast.
5) This isn't subjective. Everything is laggy from loading an app to displaying the recently used apps. I've tried uninstalling things, disabling things, enabling things and nothing seems to work. Its especially laggy when going from phone locked screen off to the home screen. It is no where as responsive as it once was. I was even down to 4GB of storage left out of 32GB so I cleared a bunch off the SD card and still its laggy.
So what do you guys think? Should I reset the phone or has someone experienced something similar and knows how to fix it. FYI, I am using Apex Pro as my launcher.

Try resetting your phone, if that doesn't work, then talk to motorola support. This stuff shouldn't happen and I'm sure Motorola's support team will be happy to help you.

So I think I fixed the problem last night with out resetting the phone based on something I mentioned here. I stated that I'm using Apex as my launcher. Not sure why I didn't think of this before, but last night I decided to change back to the stock launcher and closed out of apex in the recent apps menu. Everything got super snappy when going from view to view and launching apps. I then loaded Apex back up and it all seemed to work just fine. This morning when my alarms went off I didn't experience the problem that I was describing about above.
So I'm going to consider this issue fixed, however I will keep an eye on it to see if it comes back.
Hi,
The last few days my dialer has been ridiculously slow in making a call. Typing in numbers is fine and accessing the call history is also fine but if I touch an entry to start a call it takes anywhere from 10-20 secs for the call to start. Oddly enough this issue is not present when using car dock mode.
Has anyone come across this before and found a solution?
BTW I am on stock 4.4.2
Thanks
I should probably mention what I have tried already
- Deleted call history
- Cleared data and cache from the phone app
- Turned off a tasker profile I had that involved dialing a number
- Uninstalled recently installed apps
- Turned off fast boot and restarted (this actually helped for a short while but it has reverted)
Any other ideas? I am reluctant to do a hard reset but if nothing else works then I might just do that or upgrade my phone since I am due an upgrade soon

No, not yet. I am hoping to avoid that if possible
Anyone else have any ideas? The issue is not with the dialer but quite literally with the phone app although as I mentioned in my OP, if I select a number to be dialled from the dialer in the car dock app, it works fine. Very perplexing!
For anyone who might be experiencing the same issue, whilst I have not fixed it I did find that if my phone is connected to a network (either via wifi or mobile data) the issue disappears. I don't know why that happens but it is a least a bit of a workaround
This ones throwing me for a loop
Turbo has been brilliant aside from one tiny issue that i'm only now realizing...
Upon Receiving an incoming call my phone rings & vibrates - but will not display any alert on the screen (or lock screen) that there is an incoming call. If I unlock the phone as it's ringing the normal home screen is displayed and after a ring or two I receive the below "Mobile Data not available" prompt. Pressing ok results in the phone going back to the homescreen with once again, no further dialog to answer/ignore/mute the call (nothing in the notification bar either). Eventually the call will make it to voicemail as i can't answer it, and i get a prompt missed call notification.
Items i've checked so far:
disabled apps - re-enabled to make sure nothing got zapped that's interfering
Mobile data is enabled under settings
OTA Update was applied & Phone works fine otherwise, solid 4G service in populated area...
Thoughts/ideas?
TIA! :good:
Edit: (can't post images/links as i don't have enough posts)
Note the missed call notification icon is displayed from a previous call when as i was trouble shooting:

Have you tried a factory reset? -- Don't install any apps or change any settings, give your phone a ring after the reset, if it goes through then start installing or changing whatever settings, BUT while doing that if there's anything you suspect may alter the phone calls; test it again and see if you can find the culprit.
Solved!
Dialer app had "show notifications" box unticked
Not sure how that happened
for anyone experiencing the same issue:
Settings>Apps>All>Dialer - confirm the notification box is checked
was right about to wipe the phone and reset, glad i stumbled across it:good:
Wished I would have seen this thread yesterday. I had the same problem. Phone would ring, but I had no answer icon show up for me to click on. I finally took the phone into Verizon and they did a full wipe or factory default. That fixed the problem, but, I had to redo everything.

My Turbo had same problem. I stopped by Verizon store in mall and 3 people looked at it and they are sending me a new one. After reading this post I checked notifications on dialer app and its fixed. Guess I'll give them the new one back when it comes.
On all my previous Huawei devices (Ascend P6, G7 and P9 Lite) with various iterations of EMUI, when I went into the call log, I would press on one of the entries, and it would automatically dial the number of the contact.
On my P10 lite (WAS-LX1C02B120), when I press on a call log entry, it opens the "Edit before call" screen, so I need to press the call button in order to call my contact. I have checked in the call settings for a way to turn this off, but I couldn't find anyway to change this.
Is this new behaviour from EMUI 5.1 and up normal, or is this a bug? I'm really hoping it's the latter, and that it will be fixed in a firmware update. If not, then I hope there will be an option to turn this behaviour on or off, since I find it a bit tedious, especially since EMUI 5.1 is supposed to be more intuitive, using less steps to do various actions.
I would prefer not using a third-party dialer, so am hoping for a solution to this.
EDIT: I've solved the problem! After doing a factory reset, restoring my backup, and still having the issue, I uninstalled each and every one of my apps, to check which app what causing it. It turns out it's my RCS+ messaging option that causes this bug! Disabling this option fixes the issue!
Ok, so I have no idea what changed, but it seems to be working as expected now. I had no updates, and I definitely didn't change any settings! It's the craziest thing! [emoji848]
Anyway, I'll see if it changes again.

I just tried to make a call from my call log, and it's doing the same thing as before, where I need to press the green dial button before it makes the call! It's so frustrating!!

First of all, I noticed that I was able to make a call directly from the call log, immediately after a restart, but a few seconds later, it would go to the "Edit before call" screen, which made me realise that it had to be one of my apps that are loading in the background. Anyway, long story short, it's fixed now! I don't use RCS anyway, so I'll just keep it disabled until it gets fixed. :good:
Hi all,
my 4X, Miui 9.5.4.0 ROM, will not receive text messages most of the time. I can send texts OK but for the most part I cannot receive a text. I say for the most part because every now and then one seems to sneak through for some reason.
The only messaging app installed is the stock MIUI one that came with the phone. I did try a couple of other messaging apps with the same result. They have since been removed.
Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.
TIA
Greg

I can't imagine it's something wrong with MIUI? it never actually happened to me, I'd contact your carrier first, perhaps they have blocked numbers from texting you
I recommend also checking in Settings; System apps > Call settings > Blocklist to see if the phone has blocked incoming test messages from any numbers

I've just placed the SIM into another phone and it works fine, so it's not the carrier. Checked blocklist and nothing there, plus I can miss and intermittently get texts from the same person.
It's got to be a MIUI thing!

No I have a strong signal, so I do not think it's that.
Just did a test:
1. Rebooted phone
2. As soon as the lockscreen appears I sent a text from my wife phone.
3. It is received.
4. Wait one minute and send another 3 texts from my wifes phone.
5. None received.
6. Reboot phone.
7. The 3 missed texts arrive as soon as the phone reboots.
8. Wait one minute and send another 3 texts from wife's phone.
9. None received.
10. Reboot phone
11. 3 missed texts arrive as soon as the phone reboots.
It has to be MIUI.

That sounds annoying... If you can, go to developer options, and enable "Show all ANR" and use the phone (especially SMS) for a while to see if the culprit is a system process failing to stay alive, and try to clear all data for that process
You should be able to find the process by going to "Installed apps" and enabling "Show system apps"
Researching more on the problem has no real conclusion at all.. Some people solved the problem by just doing a factory reset, some more gets it fixed after calling their carrier, another gets it fixed (temporarily) by just turning airplane mode on and off

I have found the problem. "Turn on MIUI optimization" in Developer Options was turned OFF. Turning it ON fixed the receiving of texts. Tried several times turning it OFF and then ON and texts stopped everytime it was OFF. Don't know what this setting does but it needs to be ON to receive texts.

That's weird! I have it off all the time, what it does is
1. Closes apps in memory prematurely, this can be bad or good, unused ram is wasted ram anyway
2. Monitor background services and disabled part of it when you're not actually using it, this killed notifications for certain apps for me, at least back in MIUI 8
There's more, but it's really trivial like UI changes it does, happy it's solved though
