[Q] S-5830L not recognized by PC

I'm trying to connect my S-5830L to my PC, and when I do, the phone charges, but there is no option to access mass storage.
It's recognized in Kies, I even update the phone with it, and a hidden removable disk appears when I connect the phone, yet I still can't access the storage.
I tried installing both the driving independently and via Kies.
There is no notification about it in the phone, and I have USB debugging turned on, and I also tried with it off
Anyone knows what I could be doing wrong?

No, a guy I know passed me this phone, and I haven't be able to use the mass storage since the beginning. It's using stock (in fact, I just updated it via Kies), I have never tweaked it before. And no, it seems it isn't rooted.

Go to Recovery Mod and do a "Wipe Data/ Factory Reset" & "Wipe Cache Partition". That should pretty much solve the issue. But if the issue still exists, try flashing the stock rom using odin. Here is the link on how to install stock rom using odin along with all firmwares,

Once installed, go to Recovery Mod and do a "Wipe Data/ Factory Reset" & "Wipe Cache Partition" (otherwise bootloop might occur). Then restart. Now you have successfully flashed the stock rom. Here is the link for rooting and installing CWM 5 on Samsung Galaxy Ace,

It appears I'll have to flash the stock rom, since wiping the data and cache didn't work.
But does it matter which version of ODIN I use?
The one I'm supposed to use doesn't recognize the phone, but the one I used for the Galaxy S4 and S2 do recognize the phone.
might be problem with your samsung mobile driver on your pc.
I have faced same problem.
connect your mobile to pc right click on my computer icon go to manage-device manger
check whether driver is working if not try to reinstall it

I completely agree with @amtdwan. It's most probably the drivers that's causing the problem. Updating/ reinstalling it will solve it
I removed the ones that Windows install automatically, and reinstalled the Kies ones, but each time I connect the phone to my PC, Windows install the drivers again.
Is that a problem?
Also, the USB utilities setting is greyed out. And I can't seem to open the file explorer with Kies, it says "drive not valid".

Each device has its own odin. For Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830, the most stable odin is S5830 Odin Multi Downloader v4.38. You can find this in the link mentioned previously. I will provide the same the link again. Go to the "Preparation" section where you will find all the necessary downloads including the drivers.

I was able to flash the phone using your steps, but it still doesn't open in explorer.
I guess I'm giving up, since nothing I've tried worked.
Thanks anyways, mahithm.

So does "Turn on USB Storage" pop up now in your phone when you connect it to PC? Did you use the firmware from the site I mentioned? This problem could be caused if you have a faulty firmware. Also make sure you have a working sdcard. Sometimes faulty sdcard also cause such errors. Last but no the least, you can use the USBMassStorage app I developed. For it to work, you need a rooted phone. I'll provide you all the necessary link. Don't forget to read all the guidelines before using the app.

[Q] Tab not recognized by PC/Odin

Hi everyone.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab (GT - P1000) that I rooted about a year ago. I've installed the 4.4.2 KitKat ROM (CyanogenMod 11) using CWM Recovery, and I now want to reinstall Gingerbread on the tab (due to performance issues).
The problem is, my PC (HP EliteBook 8460p, Win7) gives a 'USB Device Not Recognized' error in all the USB ports I connect the tab to. I've tried connecting it to a different computer, with the same results. I've used Odin to flash the stock Gingerbread ROM onto the tab before, but now Odin simply won't detect the tab when it's connected to the PC (ID:COM port does not turn yellow). I tried Mobile Odin, but it put up the error 'Unexpected Partition Layout, cannot operate'.
I've searched numerous places, but cannot find a ZIP version of the stock ROM (or any custom ROM close to it) that I could flash with CWM; the only option seems to be Odin, which is not working.
So how do I get back to the original Gingerbread ROM?
Thanks in advance.

I tried installing them from a couple of different sources; it still doesn't detect the tab. I've also tried installing Kies; that doesn't work either. Do you know where I can find working drivers for the tab?

Help required: Galaxy Tab

I've been searching XDA & Google for about 1 month but can't find a solution. I don't know why everywhere in some threads whenever somebody asks the same problem there's no reply to that question. So I decided to post this question here to try my luck...
Problem & History:
I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000R with DoonLord V_4, it couldn't root it but left the tab with touch problem then I tried to root it with famaroot various versions, I then again tried to root it with z4root V_1.3.0, all attempts were useless, I don't know which attempt of them, made my tab unable to connect to pc even in download mode.
When I set my tab to connect to Kies or Media it shows that it's connected but PC doesn't detect it. Please help...
Tab Specification:
Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 (Rogers)
Firmware Version: GB 2.3.6
Baseband Version: P1000XXJR2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 ([email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXJU2

Thanks for your reply but I have already gone through this post but as I mentioned problem is that PC doesn't detects it even when I put the Tab in DL mode. Is there any method to root it? So that I could use Mobile Odin to restock it.
It is an usb-driver problem and not rooting, I'm 99% sure of it. It's the PC that HAS to find the Tab first.
Hmmmm

I've tried on another PC and with another USB cable but in vain. Other Smartphones connect it without any problem.
Any smartphone or the P1000 are not the same. I have had on multiple occasions that even Samsung Kies did not recognise it and had to reinstall Kies. Same for the Samsung Mobile phones drivers. And don't forget to reboot your PC after installing drivers.
Keep on trying because it is still going into download mode and logic tells it should be accessible. Does the PC give a notification like driver not found or similar?
NO.

No. There's no activity in PC when I connect it. It neither shows new hardware found nor any other notification like unrecognized device etc.
BTW I have reinstalled Kies, updated it, uninstalled it, installed separate drivers for Samsung USB but no gain...
One last option, let the battery become completely empty (0% charge). Recharge and try again, it rescued my tab once after a bad flash.
That is to my knowledge the last resort.
Alas!

What version of windows are you on? Because windows 8 is a *****, Vista or 7 should work.
(Or GNU-Linux). And have you tried Heimdall already? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323527
Heimdall download https://code.google.com/p/heimdall-one-click/downloads/list
Get a stock ROM and how to use Heimdall (these are old instructions so there could be newer versions available).
-----------Heimdall install instructions ------------------
1. Download Heimdall.
2. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and install it. Download it here List All Devices.
5. From the USB Device list chose "Samsung USB Composite DEvice".
6. Press "Install Driver", click "Yes" to the prompt and if you receive
a message about being unable to verify the publisher of the driver
click "Install this driver software anyway".
7. Done. This only needs to be done once.
-----------How to use Heimdall-------------------------
1. Put your tab into download mode - Power off Tab, once powered down hold power and the volume down button at the same time. You will see a android digging.
2. Start Heimdall
3. Hook your tab up to your PC or MAC and you will see a progress bar. That must say Ready to get heimdall to work.
4. Find you Firmware and unzip it until you see the following files below.
(NOTE: when you first unzip your firmware it may unzip into a .tar file unzip the .tar file to get the files below.)
a. Zimage
b. FactoryFS.rfs
c. Param.lfs
d. Boot.bin
e. SBL.bin - not always included
f. cacher.rfs
g. dbdata
h. modem.bin - not always included
5. Place each of those files in their correct spot and hit start.
ONE BIG NOTE: if you use a PIT file do NOT select repartition. It might brick your tab as heimdall has a problem when selecting repartition w/ a pit file. It is ok to use the pit file just make sure repartition is unchecked.
(Use ODIN for repartition with pit)
Got it working...
Thanks buddy, I bought a half dozen of USB cables for the tab and got it working with one of them at last... I don't know but I thought it was the last way out to try different cables... And at last, I got it working after long...
Please let me know the correct way of rooting, as DoomLord v. 4 has already failed to root it. Please guide if possible... I have a Ragers (Canada) Tab. GT-P1000R

Help with driver issue

Hello all! I have a unlocked Note 9, this is my 2nd one. Both I have wanted to restore back to 8.x from the beta, ODIN, and smart switch are not working. They are recognized, and then when the phone restarts into download mode they basically just sit there, do nothing. I started to think it might be the driver for download mode, not installed right, so it cant find the phone correctly. So can someone confirm this is what you see / should see when the phone is in download mode

I Havnt played with the note 9 in terms of flashing or rooting as I have the SM-N960W Canadian Snapdragon version and there is no way yet. I've used Odin many times to flash and it can be fussy for a few reasons, I rooted my Galaxy S7 and nexus 5 and a few others. My tips would be....
First Uninstall Samsung driver.
Then Download "usbdeview" on your pc and Uninstall any previous USB connections labeled Android or Samsung or related, as this will allow you to start off as if it's a fresh connection.
Re-Install Samsung USB drivers, then....
Plug in Using stock OEM Samsung Note USB cord and wait for it to connect and drivers to be recognized.
If no luck there try a different USB port. USB 2.0 May work if your using USB 3.0 and it isn't.
Try a different version of odin, there are many, also running odin as administrator may help but not necessarily for sure.
If all this fails try on another computer or laptop. Make sure you only select the proper/necessary options in odin.

[Help!]I'm stuck on CSA7 with VZW phone, Odin - "Can't open the serial(COM) port"
I've been trying to re install N960USQU1ARL1 with Odin, I'm currently on N960USQU1CSA7. I've used 3.13.1_3B_PatcheD and 3.13.1 with no luck. I always get "Can't open the serial(COM) port". I was worried it was conflicting with my existing HASP device or drivers for my Null Modem and RS232/485 drivers I use for work, but after uninstalling them and never had KIES installed nothing changed. I even tried with a Windows 7 VM making sure the correct drivers were installed and my phone was recognized correctly. I'm thinking it's a compatibility issue with Pie and Odin but I'm not sure. I'm hoping someone here can help with some wizardry.
Try maybe with a different cable
I've tried 3 cables and different ports. I've tried C to C and C to A as well
Have you rebooted your PC and your phone? If not, that should fix it. I soft bricked last night and had to do both.

I did, I had to use a different PC entirely. I'm not sure if it there is a problem with my current version of windows, it worked fine when I had to use Odin a few months ago. But using a different pc allowed it to work.
Try annother PC.
Reboot your Phone into Odin-State.
I had nearly the same problem like u. But my Phone was recognized, but it did not response to odin.
A Softbrick. Just reboot the Phone backt into Odin Mode, Reboot PC (What u did before) or Change PC and flash again.
