I would think this would be related to performance in general. So if the phone is performing well, it rotates quickly. If it's performing poorly, it rotates slowly...
There's a few things you can try to improve performance. Overclocking helps a little, but it's not a huge difference. Keeping apps from auto-starting on boot helps, I'm not sure of a simple way on how to do it... Suggested method for preventing apps from auto-starting.
That same user also uses an app called 'DroidWall' to prevent apps from connecting without permission. Might help with performance as well (not sure, but it can't hurt).
Anything that will slow down your phone has to go. Widgets are killer I've found... As much as I like them, they made the home screen SO slow. On that same tangent of home screens, have you looked at different launchers? The stock 'Launcher2' is kinda slow itself. I like ADW myself - there's many others out there (Zeam, GoLauncher EX, Launcher Pro to name a few...)

So it rotates quickly portrait -> landscape, but landscape -> portrait is slow...? I don't think I've heard of that one... Anyone else?
I'm not sure what can be done to fix that to be honest... new one to me .
ZTE has released the marshmallow update for this beast. How's the update coming along for everyone so far?
The new update adds stock android features with little to no skinning.
Known issues/changes
•Some users are reporting stock launcher crashes, the problem can be alleviated by using a different launcher.
•Dolby Sound has gone missing, evidence provided by Arsenic53 suggest ZTE done goofed and accidentally removed it.
•The quick settings panel is now Dark and Transparent (very classy)
•Average RAM usage has gone up considerably due to system apps being badly optimized...or maybe they're just being rebellious?
•Bootloader still locked
•Battery drains quicker.
•Nice new booting screen
•Annoying WIFI calling issue has been resolved.
•Some users have reported lag even during the booting process.
•A user has reported that He/She cannot see the screen on some occasions especially when charging.
•The lockscreen is now closer to the stock version. The dialer shortcut has been replaced with a Google now voice function and the annoying "# more notifications" thing has been removed.
•Bloatware app "rockmyrun" can no longer be disabled.
P.S someone please link zte usa's twitter to this thread so they can go over it. Leave a reply so i can remove this message.

Wish they didn't take Dolby sound.
Dolby atmos app is missing and the app drawer seems to be the old app drawer itself.hope the new marshmallow type app drawer is crashing.slight lag here and there and does doze feature in this update I can't find any setting menu for it.

The doze feature doesnt come with a dedicated settings tab. if you want to choose which apps get dozed and which dont, go to apps(settings) click the gear and click battery optimization; from there you can white list certain apps from doze (I recommend greenify if you want doze to activate in just a few minutes as opposed to an hour.)

Same with me, the phone is lagging. I want to comeback to lollipop
Hi all,
As title suggests really, I noticed on my Note 8 that swiping to the app draw and back produces bit of a delay/glitch when flicking between the two, even on high performance mode - Does anyone else have this?
Really annoying as the rest of the device is very smooth but at the minute, my old S6 Edge Plus on android 7 feels just as quick to use, which is disappointing.
The latest update to the launcher on the S8 got rid of that lag and added the ability to pull down notifications with the a swipe down motion anywhere on the home screens. It looks like the launcher on the Note 8 is a little behind so hopefully we'll get that update soon.
I use Nova with no lag.
I use stock and it's the fastest I have ever had on a Sammy between home and app drawer. I regularly swipe up down for fun as it's great to watch. Mybe you have an app slowing you down. Also get DEVELOPER rights in settings and turn off all those 1x speed settings on graphics.

Odd you mention that as mine is completely stock and I first noticed this when I first turned it on, so I hadn't even started installing my own apps yet.
Maybe I should re-flash it and see if that'll help.
Anyone else using Nova Launcher on the Pixel 5? It seems to redraw when swiping up and keeps going back to pixel launcher every so often.
Is this just an android 11 issue?
It happened the same to me with lawnchair. The 3rd party launcher occasionally crashes, so it loses default status and the pixel launcher comes back.
I installed after the latest beta of lawnchair and the problem is gone.
I'm still on my Pixel 2 XL on Android 11 and have no problems with Nova Launcher. If there really is a problem with Nova Launcher, I imagine there will be an update coming soon.
no problems here with the nova launcher beta
It's doing it on mine regularly, I'm on the beta as well.
Are you using the gesture navigation?
Nova seems fine here as well (using latest Play Store release)
I had issues yesterday on my pixel 5 however i restarted the phone and selected "always" for the nova launcher and seems fine now.
had this issue too, but it works fine since i set it as the default launcher in the system settings two times. From there on, no more occourences of the pixel launcher at all
There are definitely issues with Nova and Lawnchair as launchers for this. Tried the latest stable and beta versions for both with no difference.
They redraw the homescreen apps when you come in and out of the multi-tasking app view.
People saying they are not having issues are likely just not noticing it, as it happens in a really quick blip - but it's enough to be annoying once you notice it the first time.
It doesn't always result in Pixel Launcher resetting to the default launcher - most of the time if you just see you homescreen apps flash in and out is all.
Agreed. It all works but it's not perfect by any means. Don't forget the additional delay while the task switcher realises it needs to shift to the right to show the first app. Shame really. It was enough to make me stick to the stock launcher.
Nova is total bugged right now, but this ist mainly causes by Android itself.
https://help.teslacoilapps.com/faq/gesture-navigation
Had mine since last wednesday and ran Nova since the start, not had one issue with it?
Sorry but i cant believe you.
I am able to reproduce several issues.
Example, complete GUI does not respond to the first click after App minimize and you can see it refreshes the Launcher GUI.
https://youtu.be/4GfQri5Hw2U
Had it since day I don't experience any issues as well.
It's not perfect but I'm still using it. Nova can't do anything about it. I prefer a slightly buggy Nova over stock launcher.
The issue is caused by gestures from doing some digging around. If you use on screen buttons, it will work fine. Something for Google to fix in the code... again!
Well for me its working, you just have to set Google pixel launcher as default and then change to nova launcher.

I started using the Beta on my Pixel 2 and tried on my 3. On both phones, I had the issue of Nova losing default, and would have to launch it or restart. Eventually the issue went away by itself, after about 3 days. Same thing happened on Beta 10 as well.

I experienced the same problems with gestures on. Changed to on screen buttons all is good.
Hello everybody.
I noticed there are some issues trying to use third party launchers such as NOVA or SmartLauncher.
Or, at least, that's what happens to me with the One UI 3.1.
I've been using NOVA since my first NEXUS and since then, moving to S7 up to the Note 10, even after choosing to be part of the Beta Testing Program, I've never had problems.
Now there are some laggy and crash issues. With both of the launchers aforementioned.
I don't know if this is due to the choice of using gestures instead on the buttons in the navigation bar (it doesn't look like, considering I tried to change) but it causes strange "movements" everytime I go back home: like the launcher restarts itself, if you know what I mean.
That never happened on my last device (the Note 10) with One UI 2.5: that's the reason why I'm seriously thinking it could be a problem of compatibility with the latest stock UI version.
Anybody with the same problem? Same issues? Or this "monster" behaves like it should?
Thank you
Best
IMPORTANT EDIT: I tried again and yes, it is gesture related. Deactivating the gesture navigation bar, everything went back to normal.
Yup, same issue. Flashes white after the next immediate touch action, blocking whatever that action was. Doesn't affect the stock launcher. I reported it to Samsung through their members app. Had to switch off of gesture navigation because of it. Dunno if the other gesture navigation is broken but I'm on buttons again.
I'm using good lock one hand operation + and FNG to compensate so left and right are still back. Swipe up is home and swipe up hold is recents.
Well the issue is with Google's gesture implementation. I am facing the issue with gestures too and contacted Nova launcher support and they have blamed google for it.
Its true, disabling gestures, everything works fine. I hope someone will find a solution to this.
I used Microsoft launcher and it seems fine.

Maybe it's only affecting launchers with the Google feed
I'm running a 10+ on Pie. The native launcher is fast and very stable.
I played around with Nova and a few others including Hyperion launcher. The latter boot looped my stock 10+ twice, back to back.
2 factory resets latter I was fuming. That was the first app to ever boot loop any of my Androids in 6 years. The developer had nothing to say. REALLY? F$$$ that!
Launchers have a very real potential to cause a boot loop. Take any instability seriously; there should be none.
The stock launcher uses less battery.
Because of all the Samsung built in customization plus Galaxy Store plugins and the Good Lock family of apps, the stock launcher is better than even Nova. Easier to use and more stable.
I stopped wasting my time sampling launchers. My last reload was almost a year ago; it remains fast, very stable with low battery usage. It looks and runs great... what's not to like?

Hi.
I must say that you're right: latest UI version in very fast and stable. All the possibilities you can add with GOOD LOCK are definitely a serious improvement. There is a "missing" feature, though: those damn' icons.
I really don't understand why we must be forced to use those ugly ones on the Galaxy Store and why they decided not to allow us to change at least the shape (with the UI 3.1), as this is a stock functionality.
Let's see what will happen in the future.

I've been using Apex Launcher Classic for years without issue and icon packs to customize (Desaturate pack is current favorite)
Works just fine with UI 3.1
I don't use the Gesture mode

I agree to an extent, but the current version on One Ui Home has a number of issues as well;
Freezing whenever you long press on the home screen, so you can't add widgets
Task changer keeps resetting
Why oh why won't they give us vertical scrolling in the apps menu
I distinctly remember there being similar issues with my s10+ at launch, so hopefully be fixed in the future

The last point is true however the first two aren't for me. No issues with widgets or Task changer.
The white icon label lettering irritates me though but it's not not all the trouble comes with 3rd party launchers.

Sure. Full of crappy icons and comic-sans-like fonts... Not considering that those on the Galaxy Store only change the stock icons and a few more.
The reign of inconsistency.
Believe me, I would be happy just having the possibility to choose the shape, as every other manufacturer on the planet allows.

Shape? Round, square... -far- less worse than Google or Apple designs
It's a pain sorting through them but there are good ones in there that most will like... for free.
If you're willing to take the performance and stability hit to have the "shape" well every rose has it's thorns.

Me too! No problems until now!
I have been using nova launcher on my s21 ultra, since i got the phone ( with no gestures, only buttons ).
And i thought i was having a nice experience.
A few days ago i messed up my phone, debloated the wrong apps and had to factory reset. Since i was going with a fresh install i decided to use OneUI + some goodlock modules.
Boy.. i was wrong about the nova experience. Now i know how fluid and responsive the phone is supposed to be.
Anyway, apart from that, this is the official info from NOVA:
Google has made it very clear that they have no plans to completely fix gesture-related issues any time in the near or even distant future.
Please take note that Google admits to this being broken on their end of things and that a fix will be coming in a future update to Android (stated March 2019).
However, it's now well over a year later and there are still many issues with full system gestures and 3rd party launchers on both Android 10 and Android 11. These issues will remain for the foreseeable future as Google have now made it clear that they have no plans to completely fix their full system gestures.
Notable issues with gestures on third party launchers include:
• Close all/Clear app button not appearing(scroll all the way to verify it's not there)
• Not being able to tap icons for a short time after returning to the home screen
• Animations not being as fluid as expected
Please understand, there is absolutely NOTHING WE CAN DO TO FIX OR CHANGE THIS IN ANY WAY! Contact Google or your device OEM directly with these issues as we have absolutely no control over it whatsoever.

Install Hexed from the Play Store. Personalize a theme and in preferences check Navigation Bar Height and set it to 0. In regular Android settings make sure it's set to use the NavBar buttons and not the gestures. Install any third party gestures app that you like. Set up your third party gestures app then restart the phone. Then you'll have fully working third party gestures and everything will work like it used to. This is the only way I have found that fully fixes the gesture issues.
