Hi guys, just got the Mi9, good device
I updated to latest 10.2 global (or something like that), and read that now it can keep the notification icons in the status bar.
I can't find the setting for that ? Is there a setting ?
Thanks for your insight
EDIT:
Short answer, if you like your notification icons to stay more than a few secs in the status bar :
Install global beta (dev) version of MIUI, using the XiaomiTool V2 or other method, no need to unlock boobloader.
Links, more details bellow, thanks to all who answered to my question!

Yeah, that was on.
I suppose that's a "suck it up" situation.
Asked a friend about it who never used other phones than Xiaomi, and he does not find a problem there lol.
Hope I can get used to it, but seems to be the way it works on many Chinese made devices.
I don't quite understand your concern. Are you looking to get notification icons in status bar?
You'd need to install global betas, which you can do if you're on global without unlocking bootloader. Then you enable them under status bar settings.
Follow this guide and install global dev(beta) rom everything will come back plus battery life a lot better, thats what I did and I felt much better, now since my bootloader is unlocked Iam rooted with a slightly different rom but global dev is good enough as long as your bootloader is locked, hope this helps, cheers

Thanks to your detailed explaination, and yes it's what i'm hoping for.
I have the stupid waiting period for unlocking the bootloader, so might as well go ahead and do what you suggest.
Thanks again
EDIT :
Global dev version flashed, all working as I like.
Again, thanks to you guys, I was really going to regret selecting that phone....
you can use NotchTest from play store as a workaround if you don't want or you are not able to unlock the bootloader.

Global beta has permanent notification icons on status bar, and you don't need to unlock bootloader, and you get weekly updates.

Use the tool to install global stable, after that download global Dev file to phone, and use the updater to install it.
If you find missing the option to select files just click 10 times on "10" to get access.

Will this be like an update if I do this from global stable to global beta? Or will it wipe my device and data?
From Global Stable to Global Dev nothing will harm your data. All settings, apps etc. will remain as before.
Cheers
Toscha
This will NOT work for the european EEA versions of the Mi 9, fyi.

Same but from reading the Mi Community forum could be another couple of months..........
I came from XiaomiEU v12.5.20.0 stable (TWRP), did a dirty fastboot flash of v13.0.5 stable and experienced the following issue:
- mostly no sound notifications + vibration
Maybe we can collect our bugs here.
The same context here (from XiaomiEU v. 12.5.20.0 stable [TWRP] to v. 13.0.5 stable [fastboot] without formatting data).
Do not disturb (DND) mode is not working for me. When I activate it, I remain receiving sound notifications.
1. There used to be an option to individually force dark mode on any app. The app list isn't appearing on this page anymore
2. Twitter app scroll is now laggy
Sometimes the screen is laggy as if the refresh rate fell to 1hz. I have to lock the phone wait for few minutes and then unlock to get back 120hz feel. I dirty flashed just like you did.

I met this problem on xiaomi.eu since 12.x
No problem on global rom so far
Fb app cant share to external app
YouTube vanced cant set as default
Some app cant show pop up (bubble chat)
Some app cant use in-app camera
And i come from a clean flash. Never should try to dirty flash to upgrade from a different Android version

Hi @veimus !
@v13.0.9:
I don't dare. Have you?
In the meantime i did a rollback to v12.5.20.0 (very stable ).
@v13.0.5:
I'm pretty sure DNS isn't working as it should.
DNS requests in my local pi-hole reduced by ~90%.
Can anybody confirm this?

Hello everyone, i am a redmi user who wish to install custom roms on my device. So i have to unlock bootloader of my device again and again. But is it possible to unlock my device without the need of mi account and mi unlock tool. Please mention if its so. I would be very gladful.
why you lock the bootloader ? just leave it unlocked, when flash firmware use the option clean_all DONT clean_all_and_lock and the bootloader will keep unlocked
I need to lock bl for security purposes, as you know fingerprint stop working after bl is unlocked, thats why.

Bro you should flash the miui 12.5.15 and after that update through the updater app. It will install the new update properly.

Thanks for kindly advice. I had this problem since upgraded from MIUI 12 to MIUI 13.
Most people who have this problem after upgraded to MIUI 13. Why didn't you receive MIUI 13 update? My version number is 13.0.10.0 .
Seems we are not on the same page.
DO NOT UPGRADE btw.
I think you didnt understand bro. I think yours one is global rom. Everybody have different solutions to this problem. I preferred you the simplest way by which I solved the problem
Mine is the indian variant. I think it would be resolved with next patch.

Mine is the Taiwanese variant. Current version is different from global one. 13.0.2.0 as I remember. I have this problem after upgraded from MIUI 12 to MIUI 13 . Not solved after two months. So I tried so-called Global Stable ROM (which is 13.0.10.0) with my fingers crossed. And the problem remained.
Not only youtube but also spotify have audio shattered problem. quite annoying.
Thanks for your kindness bro. Wish you all the best.

Hi Robert235,
I had the same problem with Xiaomi.eu 13.013.
In my opinion I had this issue after I tried super wallpaper.
This turns also off the AOD.
But I not recognized this, because AOD still works.
After I turn on AOD, also with super WP, the issue was gone with my rear display.
Maybe also on your device...
Good look
