I switched to ART mode mode this morning since I read that its faster and wanted to give it a go. However I have read about it but am not totally an expert. When I switched over it booted then rebooted to the ATT logo and hung. I had to use the 3-button combo to get back again after a huge heat up.
Anyway I now notice that in the RAM manager from the home screen I get for example 1.24gb/1.81 like normal and now where I would have had the same reading in Applications Manager In Settings I now get 0.98gb used - 870mb free in "Running". The way it reads seems to have changed and doesnt match the other.
Is any one else using ART and can share some experience on this at all.
Ive Also seen a post about someone mentioning bad signal on ART...?
Cheers.

I don't have root or anything to flash, why not test art?
I do notice a disparity as well, but mine is a little less prevolent-- my variation i think is as simple as fluctuation between redraw in between the two screens. I get 870/874used 0.96/0.95free-- I will say though, it seems to use a little less ram.
I live in a very strong signal area and that said, i don't see any signal difference. I do know some low areas so i can update once I've visited.
I did encounter the lockup at AT&T, that just required a reboot.
Yeah mate with no root for Roms I thought why not try it. I use a third party launcher called lucid and do notice a big improvement in scrolling between home screens and apps relaunching. I was a bit concerned about the different readings in the 2 ram managers and the freeze on boot but so far no issues. Just wondering how others are going and if they are using it since it wasn't in other Samsung devices too.

I use Nova Launcher, tried Aviate and Atom, I'll look at Lucid.
I also turned off all animation transitions in Dev mode. It's snappy enough to fly between screens instantly, also if you're not aware-- old pro move-- go into S-Voice(if you don't use it, but nobody does) and disable the double tap home function and then home key lag will be gone and the phone FLIES.

Cheers mate I'll give that a go. Lucid is a good launcher if you like vertical scrolling. I prefer that on these slightly bigger screens. Also icon resizing. Only set back is no folders. It's also got a side panel for short cuts just like in AOKP. You gotta like it or you will find it hard to get use to I guess.

Give the 0transition and no lag a go- it's like a new phone.
Have you ever tried Nova? It has vertical scrolling and icon resizing with folders. The side drawer though I don't really dig.
Have you any legacy apps onboard? I haven't installed older games yet, I'm sure some things will just crash fail.
You have to remember that even though ART is included on the S5s it is still considered experimental and has not been optimized yet.

Of course, nobody forgot this. It runs very well so far. I've tested it with all my daily driver applications and a few games that aren't updated for it and I've good results so far.

Yeah that's kinda what I thought since I haven't seen it in any other of my devices. Wouldn't mind seeing if anyone else is giving it a go. Was a bit worried after the freeze mate. Thought I was heading for a brick
Seems that ART is good on battery life. After 12 hours I still have 70% left where as I would usually have about 40-50%. Looks like using less RAM and opening apps faster is paying off.

It's an odd duck, my statistics seem to be garbage but the battery is doing quite well in visible usability. My battery usage stats have Android system @ 22% with Screen on time @ 20% w 4.5hrs(on) and the battery is just now at 46% I can easily hit 6.5-7hrs @ this rate, screen time and who knows what Android system will be at but i have no gdamn accuracy in the numbers other than the screen hours on that add up.
We shall see since I believe both of our Art switches were in the middle of a Dalvik discharge cycle, perhaps borked it all up until next full stats flush/100% charge.
I use Apex Launcher
My first run on ART and I get this. I don't know much about battery drain on this setting but it's consistent. On dalvik I had to charge every night.
1 day and 12 hours. So I'm getting slightly over 50% more.
That's also with the gear2 synced which should take more battery too.
First full charge on ART got 1 day 2 hours and 48 minutes, with 3 hours and 36 minutes on time. Had 37% left. Not bad at all.
ART has mostly eliminated the annoying unlock hangup that I was seeing. As for battery life I can't really tell a major difference; although coming from the i717 going a whole day is a miracle. Most days I end the workday after about 12 hours off charger with 40-50% battery.
If I forget to turn off the hotspot after using it I may see 30%, but that is after 8 hrs streaming data to my tablet and GPS on the old Note.

You won't see a MAJOR difference between Art and Dalvik. People would like to see it but it isn't there. A few sites have done more imperical things* that said mostly it's close to even with some gains. It's just better in performance of apps you use often, in short.

Just switched to ART today.....so far so good. All my daily driver apps are working great. Seems like switching to ART free'd up some RAM, im now using like 0.96 gb instead of 1.2 or so.

I definitely see some improvement in ram usage. I think this is what is also helping with her battery consumption. The only issue I do have is if I run the battery completely out or just need to reboot then it may stick on the boot logo and need the 3-button combo method to get our of it or even pulling the battery. Might happen 1 in every 4 times but worth it for the extra sharpness in performance. I'm happy with it so far.
Aftet switching to ART ive had lags all arund phone ,,, not much difference in baterry tho
I do have a lot of apps turned off and I am using a different launcher so maybe that helps. Not much extra installed either.
Hi guys, since emui 9 and 9.1 my SOT it's about 4 hours or 4.5 hours max, sometimes even 3 hours if i played a lot, I usually play games for a couple of hours, spotify youtube and instagram and the max i can get is 4 hours (From 100% to like 20-25%)
When i don't play and i use only instagram youtube and watch streamings i get more SOT but like 5 hours max
I've looked into the battery details and nothing seems strange (With gsam i found that i have some wake lock that drains battery like 1-2% at night) and during the night i lose like 5-6% battery with wifi on and bluetooth and gps off
Is that normal? Do you get the same SOT?
Also my screen lights up for no reason at all very often, i disabled the feature that can unlock the screen from lifting
I got emui 9.1.0.328

Still same SOT
what's yours
@Danyy29
This such a subjective subjective.
Give or take you should be seeing around 1.5-2 days total up time and around 5-8 on average SOT.
But and I'll quote this as it's a massively expansive word for this subject.
"It Depends!!!"
Signal strength.
Routine
Battery efficiency
Age of device
Apps installed
Amount of apps installed
App usage
Device set up
Switch choices (WiFi/BT etc)
Firmware
Model
Variant
These are the tip of the ice berg.
You cannot measure two devices as they're just so different, even though they appear the same.
When I was sick one time. I stayed in bed playing Zelda the wind waker on the dolphin emulator.
During that weekend, I managed to get 14 hours 45 mins on a OnePlus 5.
Same situation 1 year later on my p20 pro, 17 hours 47 mins.
I have all this in a thread with proof.
Great signal
Only used internet
Few messages
Few calls
Great WiFi
Didn't leave house
No mobile gaming
That being said... 9.1 is not as efficient as 8.1 by a country mile, it's an apple style nudge to get you to buy a new phone even though you don't need one.
Hope this helps.
If I had to give you a top tip, it would be too lighten the load, no Facebook. No Snapchat, Instagram, any apps with ads, get rid. Any apps that run all the time! Get rid.
No excess apps, get rid. Get drastic.
Then test
Internal short or the battery is defective. Take it to a huawei care center.
With Accubattery the life it's like 90%
I bought this device in november 2018
I don't think it has problems that much
It doesn't get overheated
I get a maximum of 40°C when high end gaming
So idk
but ty for advices
My Realme X2 Pro (12GB Variant) is slowing down
I bought the phone about 3-4 Months ago and it was working absolutely fine until a few days ago
It heats up very frequently and sharply now,it's battery drains quickly and while using almost every app ,there is a massive performance drop from before
I've tried a lot of things like restarting the phone , removing unnecessary apps , clearing storage, and even reupdated the phone through recovery mode, still no difference
I generally do gaming and social media scrolling on my phone (not facebook)
What do I do to fix the issue now???
Do you use Nova Launcher? I got massive battery drain when I allow this to run in the background.

Hello i am also facing the same situation...up until a month i was getting good performance while gaming but now even games like world war heroes is lagging in medium settings...and i did a factor reset and still the issue is not resolved.... benchmark is showing low multi-core performance. Like 1720 whereas used to get 2450 range....can anyone help me here
Hi Everyone,
I have the Oneplus 10 pro China variant and flashed Indian ROM with Oxygen OS.. Everything is working well and very smooth to me, however, the battery life is terrible with this ROM.
I'm having about 4 hours of screen on time (SOT). It is very weird, because with Color OS I was having around 7 hours of SOT and it was great for me.
Does anyone know if EU Rom is better than Indian ROM in terms of battery life?
I also have noticed that the charging speed has decreased, even it showing that is charging at 80w.
Thanks
I saw this EU member post 11 hours SOT;
Apps & games
Any essential apps and games for rooted OP10 pro?
forum.xda-developers.com
11 Hours, wow. Does anyone else is having bad battery life on indian ROM?
Is it also possible to flash EU Rom using Fastboot Enhanced?
Quick update on the poor battery life , just discharge to 0 and keep it dead for at least 20 to 30min and then charge it back to 100 using the supervooc .. you will have your battery life back.. doing this just once is enough.
The only way to actually compare the battery between firmwares would be to have nothing on the phone besides the same SIM and then see what the SOT is and in the exact same location.
The main factor besides a crap firmware is the apps you're running, the signal efficiency and your habits.
Comparing your phone with mine without these variables taken into account would be comparing apples and oranges..
You can figure a ball park figure but there will always be things not taken into account and a how the hell you getting them times questions.
For me the 11 hours which was more like 10 hours 50+ was in my house, great signal and I streamline all my apps and push for more battery as a rule, so if there's an app on there I don't use or an app i could swap for something better then I'll do it, Facebook app - use web version etc etc.
It all adds up.
Here's me at 48% with very heavy usage.... Been playing arkanoid Vs space invaders for over an hour.
Steadily on the way to 10 hours.

I can help you if you need it.
Let me ask you a few simple questions.
How many apps do you have installed?
How many mods?
How many social media apps?
What is your signal like where you are?
Do you charge overnight?
What launcher?
QHD or FHD?
This is my app usage.
Bare in mind the SOT listed is not from the length of the graph it's only from the last full charge which was around midnight last night.
I may make an SOT leaderboard thread...i had one of these on the OnePlus 5, on that device I managed 14 hours 47 minutes and I wasn't alone in SOT's like that either, I think this phone is capable of much much more.
My highest is 17 hours on a P20 Pro. Always provide proof and it's with normal usage.

Ok, I know it would be the problem.
I got like 150 apps but I should probably remove those I dont need and I dont use.
8 magisk modules, then I got FB lite app, normal messenger, whatsapp, twitter, instagram, telegram, discord, XDA app.
I live in Czechia on LTE+
No, I dont charge overnight.
Using Nova launcher,
FHD.

Lol ok so I think you know what I'm going to then don't you
Lose Facebook, use the web browser, not only are you stopping FB from spying on you, you'll be getting rid of an extremely heavy app, lite or not it's a battery rapist.
If you've seen the list of tips I sent to the other thread then honestly, just go through them, what's the worst that could happen?
If you don't use it then nuke it, lighten the load and let your phone stretch it's legs.
Think about it, two identical phones. One being looked after with not so many apps and kept light Vs a phone that's laden all the time, after a year or two. That extra work will be more and more apparent In regards to stamina.
Your phones super new, make a change now when it can still make a difference.
If you need help with anything let me know. If I was you I'd wipe the phone and start over.. don't add anything, just what you need and only when you need it, you'll be surprised what you don't use but you do install just from habit.
Also 8 Magisk modules?
What ones? I'm always on the look out for good modules. I'm using 3, two of them are for safety net and systemless, so only one really.
I'm on 88 apps total
Lol did a scrolling screenshot... Just wanted to see if it'll be visible
Edit: wow it did show, extremely well actually.. nice
Go through this little lot and if you still have bad battery life after doing even half of this then honestly i'm stumped.
Change 5G to 4G
Remove Facebook use web based
Remove Facebook messenger use web based
Remove Twitter use web based
Remove any ad based apps pay for the pro version
Turn off gestures like lift to wake
Change from QHD to FHD (No difference)
Allow auto brightness
Turn off WiFi overnight
Turn all updates to manual not auto (play store)
Remove any so you don't use
Change back up to once a month (WhatsApp)
Turn off location history (Google)
Use titanium to remove any system apps you don't need
Don't allow anonymous usage statistics for any app ever.
Don't allow tracking cookies on any website
Use adaway (root needed)
Don't open web pages in Google app (I use Samsung browser)
Don't use xposed.
If you game you will not get high SOT scores, period.
Don't bother with battery saving apps or monitoring apps.
Streamline your apps, if you don't use it, remove it.
Don't allow WiFi scanning (as in letting other apps use it when it's not on)
Never allow personalised ads.
Never allow notifications from websites
Always decline cookies unless your absolutely have to allow some tracking (common sense prevails here)
Optimise as many apps as possible unless it affects performance.
Don't allow apps to remain open in the notification area.
Change your launcher, my preferred launcher is lawn chair and this did actually burn up some battery when compared to the OnePlus launcher.
Don't use live widgets (yes they look cool, but they annihilate your battery)
Live wallpaper, again very cool, but battery burners.
Again! Don't charge overnight, make a note of your percentage then see what it is in the morning, you shouldn't be losing more than 5% really, if you've done well then it'll be reflected here, the good SOT results will follow.
Turn off live read outs of network speed, RAM usage in the status bar.
Turn off NFC unless in use.
Leave location on in quick settings.
Don't overcharge your phone, IE: overnight
Don't allow your phone to fully deplete the battery.
Whatever anyone says, this does 100% damage batteries, there is no argument here and I won't entertain anyone who says otherwise, Ive seen through real life tests what this results in, bloated, inefficient, possibly dangerous lithium batteries.
Keep your phone out the sun.
Keep it out of extreme cold.
Keep your device clean dust free.
Snapchat, Viber, house party, apps like that tends to use more battery as they don't have great dormancy periods.
Apps like speed test by Ookla tend to have location tracking, similarly they tend to turn themselves on and off when they feel like it, my advice, install test and uninstall.
Allow a couple of battery cycles between tweaking sets, to give you an idea of how much of a difference you've made.
Use BBS to see what is being used, once you've removed problems, remove BBS.
I've just written this from the top of my head so o probably missed some things, the general idea is to keep your device clean and fresh, remove files you don't need any more.
Keep an eye on apps that misbehave or aren't wanted, index your folders so they aren't a mess.
The more good things you do means the more potentially bad apps you can have on your phone, eg if you really need Facebook, you could keep it so long as you clean up other areas of your phone.

Thank, I'll take a look and deeply think about what apps I really need and how often.
It is also true that I have rooted phone, playing pokemon go in between which will strech the phone heavily, but this is a thing I count with.
And eh, I dont want to wipe the phone at all to be honest, because I hope that next system updates will improve whole phone, because I can also feel some underclocking and throttling.
And those modules: busybox, gpay sqlite fix, magisk bootloop saver, shamiko, systemless hosts, Universal GMS doze, Universal safetynet fix, Zygisk Lsposed.
Also during the night I am turning on airplane mode (losing only 2 % during the night).
I am also wondering how can I decline all allowed personalised ads and cookies of it is possible.

Lol the only reason i said to wipe was that it's a sure fire way to begin a good habit, by removing bits and bobs it's a bit of a patch up job.
I'd also get rid of xposed, I've always had bad battery life with it, but that's my exprience with it.
As you will have only had one update yes a wipe isn't required, however after a few updates, it's always a good idea to give your phone a wipe to start over, it just means that inherited or created issues between firmware iterations are eliminated, definitely do this if you update a full base ie: Android 11 to 12.
You'd notice this a lot when you update Windows on your PC, for example going from win 10 to 11 you'll almost certainly notice a few issues, giving your OS a wipe at that point fixes a lot of it and improves stability and performance quite a lot.
I agree with the underclock, but the SOC is already extremely efficient from my tests, i've never seen the temp go over 35c which is incredible for a mobile SOC.
Even running a PS2 emulator (AetherX2) it wasn't even warm to touch so throttling really shouldn't occur on this phone, running the PS2 emulator is probably the hardest thing any phone is going to have to do and it breezed it.
Not trying to be a dictator with you here btw, just some advice on what i've noticed over the years, it's up to you what you do with your phone mate.
Also Pokemon go, i think that uses the camera and location and gyros as well as the gpu and cpu lol so yea that's a heavy game for sure, don't think theres a way around that though, maybe just reduce your play time?
Onak extremely happy with those advices, I am just having bad habits at all and I probably think what apps do I use even if probably don't.
I actually don't need 11 hours of SOT, just want more than I currently have. It could be hard because of my habits, also I use my phone as a work phone too for some apps which I do test on daily basis.
And those wiping. I usually do wiping when upgrading to the major versions, because I also know it is recommended, many issues would disappear then. And usually they do.
I know how new this phone is so I am quite reserved with its software, but to be honest, we expect having the phone fully working without those underclocking etc, especially for that price.
