I think its measured from corner to corner, so its calculated like there is no notch. I think its the same for all phones with notch or punch hole.

thx but it s better if we can be sure

You can be "sure sure". All screen sizes are measured by diagonal distance (all screens - phones, TV's, projectors, monitors). So 6.47" is the distance from top corner to bottom opposite corner.

i think the best way is to measure a phone like mate 20 with notch and without notch. but i don t have yet the mate 20.

The screen is measured from corner to corner as it has no rounded corner. Notch is included in the screen size.

[Q] Jagged Edges around display of the watch

Hey Friends,
First of all I have to warn you, I am a bit of a perfectionist as I am German
I've noticed that the display of the watch is not 'perfectly round' as I can observe very small impurities around the edge of the display.
The Jagged Edge is mostly visible at the very top of the display. Attached you find a picture, unfortunately on the pic you cannot see it very clearly.
https://s3.amazonaws.com/pushbullet...IO8tEddsKSQ8mb8AVWJml/IMG_20141229_225843.jpg
Looking at it with the naked eye you can see it much better that the display is not perfectly round around the edges.
I was wondering if this was due to the manufacturing process of the round display or if it was a hardware problem only on my device.
Can you put the brightness on full and check if you see it on your device?
It looks as if a few pixels are missing around the top edge of the circle.
Would love to hear from you! Thanks
Thomas from Germany
the display isn't perfectly round
you can't get a perfect circle out of square pixels and in this generation, the ppi is still low enough that you can see jagged edges - if you are really looking for them

Screen Dimensions

Hi. Was wondering about the screen dimensions of mi mix. If you check Xiaomi's website it says there is a 17:9 ratio in screen dimension which implies the width of screen, for a 6.4 inch diagonal, is 3.3882 inches. But on the same website the total width of phone is 81.9 mm which converts to 3.244 inches! So would someone mind carefully measuring the width of the screen. In many respects this is more important to me than the actual diagonal size. Thanks!
http://www.mi.com/en/mix/specs/
Using a regular transparent plastic ruler, below are the measurements as accurately as I can muster:
- The entire width of the phone (including the thick ceramic edge plus button protrusion) is 8.15 cm = 3.208661 inches
- The entire width of the screen from top (including a bit of the ceramic edge, no buttons) is 8.05 cm = 3.169291 inches
- The viewable screen (lit-up portion) width is 7.51 cm = 2.956693 inches
- The viewable screen (lit-up portion) diagonal itself does measure 6.4 inch
Hope that answers your question.
So according to your measurements, the size of the side bezels (both sides altogether) would equal 6.4mm. That's bigger than my Mi 5S's side bezels of 5.08mm...

Although your measurement doesnt sound right, if its so; thats a shame for Xiaomi for naming the mix as 'bezel less'

What's wrong with my measurements? Anyways, I have always believed that Xiaomi exaggerated a bit by calling the Mix "bezelless" since even with my eyes, I can see that all they did (which is still impressive btw) is reduce the top bezel. The two side bezels are as thick, if not thicker than most modern flagship phones.

Agreed. Granted, the drastic reduction of top bezel, at least for me, does absolute wonders in making this a joy to use, but size bezels are not noticeably smaller than most phones and bigger than some of the mainstream phones out there.

You need to measure diagonally to get 6.4 not across. Anyway the surface area of a 16:9 and a 17:9 is totally different even if their screen size is the same.

Can you actually prove me wrong then with actual calculations? Because I already know what you said and I factored them into my calculations so I don't see where the problem is. Obviously 6.4" is a diagonal measurement, anyone knows that. By the way, I used this article from The Verge as a reference.
The measurements I used for the Mi 5S's physical size were official measurements and for the Mi Mix, I used wendyalison's measurements (if I used official measurements for the Mi Mix, then the bezels would've been even bigger because they're a little wider than wendyalison's measurements).

Since the Mi5s is 5.15" and Mi Mix is 6.4", even with a difference in ratio, the mix should be wider than the Mi5s or are you trying to prove otherwise?

Of course not, I simply said the side bezels are wider. I never said the screen of the Mix was not wider than the 5S.

red magic 3s in game display cutoff

Is any experiencing an issue where the resolution in games extend past the rounded curves of the phone display cutting off the picture in the corners?

I think it is normal the cut, I don't think much of the screen is lost
When looking at my note 9. The RM3 does clip a little of the picture. Example call of duty. Main screen your user icon my note 9 shows it all but my RM3 clips the corner of it. But it's really not an issue when playing.

Screen after the replacement

Hi all,
I've been asked to move this to this section so hopefully find the correct answer.
I recently had my 9t pro screen replaced, after the replacement it now works fine & even the fingerprint scanner is working good, however the actual view size looks smaller. I can see this in that one of the apps is cutting off some of the icons down the left & right hand sides of the screen, not in a huge way but enough to miss off the notifiacation number on the top corner of the app.
My question is that even though it has been repaired by a 3rd party & not Xiaomi will this always be the case as somebody has said it may be that the protective screen black border may be too big & slightly bigger than the original factory fitted one.
I have 2 photos.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Kind regards.

Check this is developer settings especially the width, should be 393 or close to it. Play around if it's too higher/lower and see.

Hi, thanks for that but although it makes a slight difference to the icon size it just creates a bigger gap round the edge of the screen when I increase or decrease the number.
Thanks anyway.

How about the other setting below it?

Even though you can see a slight adjustment when I change the settings it doesn't improve anything, the screenshot with the missing numbers down the right hand side are exactly the same.

Reduce punch hole camera size

Hi!
One question, any one know if it's possible to reduce the black circle arround the punch hole front camera, and only black it out when you are using the front camera?? It will be great to have a smallest hole! I don't knw why those pixels must be blacked out all the time, if i'm not using the front camera...
What do you mean? The black circle around the hole punch is completely physical and the software cutout only kicks in when the front camera is in use (you can clearly see it when in an app with a non black status bar such as snapchat for example).
if you choice punch hole cut in developer options the circle arround te camera is not centred well, so it may be becose are blacked pixels no?
Finaly! They did it!
Pixel 5's hole punch can be hidden on Android 12
The feature was available at launch for the Pixel 3 XL

But what does that gain, exactly?
Not like there's pixels there to use in any way, so I must be missing the point?

I don't think that's correct. I can clearly see additional black padding being added to the cut out when the screen is turned on. Once off, you can see the physical size of the camera hole is a few pixels smaller in diameter.

The actual physical camera hole is a lot smaller than your phone would have you believe, there's padding in the form of black pixels to make the hole seem bigger on screen.
This guy wants to remove the black padding so the camera cutout shown on screen looks even smaller than it is.

LMAO, this doesn't reduce the black area around the camera, it expands it to take up the entire status bar!

Have you found any way to solve this? I had a note 10 lite and the black ring would only appear when the camera was in use but now I got a S21 FE and the same black ring stays there all the time. I find it kinda annoying...
