[Q] Does anyone knows if it has 2.4 and 5ghz wifi?

As posted...it has the 2.4 only or the 2.4/5.0ghz wifi?
From samsungs note specifications site:
"Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct"
WLAN a-band is 5ghz area, so I think it has 2.4 and 5ghz.
thanks

Hmm, anyone with a note actually able to use 5ghz wifi? I have so far been unable to.

hmm.. mine doesn't see the 5GHz radio on my Netgear WNDR3700.
Weird.
As a side note, i do think connecting to the 2.4GHz radio is a better idea as it has better range, and the Note won't be able to utilize the extra speed of the 5GHz channel anyway.
yes it works 5.0ghz also, with d-link routers.
its faster than on the 2.4 crowded band.
Mine connects to the 5 Ghz coming out of my WRT610N running dd-wrt
Works fine on my old Belkin G router (2.4Ghz) and the new Belkin N router (5.0Ghz). So yep.

The note has only antenna, so yes, it won't fully utilize it, but I get much faster speeds on the N router than the G oh and the speed drop off at the edges of reception is much less with N.
Hmm, well my 5ghz doesn't seem to be showing up. Anyone have any idea what troubleshooting steps I should take?

So just an update for people. I figured out the issue. 5ghz doesn't seem to be supported on 1xx channels, but works just fine on the lower frequency xx channels. I wonder, is this an European thing? Would there be a firmware tweak to enable the higher frequency (and higher output power) 1xx channels?
+1 on that. I would like to see it able to be used with the higher channels
I think it depends on whether the router utilizes the 20MHz or the 40MHz band. I bet the note can only see the 20MHz one.

Nope it can see.the 40 as thats the only one I have selected

It has both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz I see and have connected to both on my Netgear N600
OK ppl its the channel your router has set for 5ghz. European basebands only see 5ghz channels provisioned on Europe. Check Wikipedia, specifically here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels
Simple fix... change router 5ghz channel to match region of your baseband
Using a higher or lower channel means nothing. Its finding the channel that is least crowded and has the least amount of interference.
Worked!

I wasn't able to connect with my netgear wndr4500, but this fixed it! thanks!
Or you can always flash a firmware which supports your local 5 GHZ frequency in case you have other devices which use this frequency range. I noticed that Asian firmware supports NA 5 GHZ frequencies.
I have a Linksys E4200. I tried using WiFi analyzer and put it to scan for the exact frequencies available in the E4200 5Ghz configuration, the S2 is unable to detect any 5Ghz channels. I also tried selecting all channels, but it did not work.
EDIT: Just found an answer on another thread that worked, I manually set the channel to 36. The phone immediately detected the network. Its odd that in auto the phone cant detect it.

Note 8 not connecting to Xfinity Wifi

I have a Note 8 running on VZW and my device won't connect to my XFINITY wifi network at home. I tried changing the password encryption to one of the solutions below and I even changed it to open, and it did not work. I also tried changing the IP settings from DHCP to static and that didn't work either. I connect to other wifi hotspots and wifi but not my home. Also, however, I have other devices connected to the wifi just fine. I cannot seem to find a solution to this issue.

Maybe try setting your wifi to a different channel on your router?

is it your home network or xfinity hotspot network
I am a actual xfinity mobile and home internet user
For the life of me I can connect to my home networks but not my home xfinity hotspot also broadcasted from my router. It shows up,I can click it,But never connects....
I also have issues with other xfin hotspots.
Not all but some
It is my home network that my note 8 won't connect to, but it connects to other networks, I believe something is blocking it.

Now I know they got that xfi crap have you gone on your router and xfi app and allowed
Yup I went through all that and the admin tool and nothing. I turned the firewall temporarily too to see if the problem persists and it does.

I would bet it's something stupid on xfinitys side. Last I can think of is a full reset of the router....back to stock. Is it the xb3

Hotspot not able to share as 5ghz WiFi band

I googled and found some users having same issue but not a firm solution as found yet...
The WiFi hotspot just don't allowed me to share as 5ghz band instead only 2.4ghz band...
There is no "advance setting" to let me select, wondering anyone having this issue?
Maybe it's not a hot spot after all

I'm connecting 5ghz band WiFi with no issue just i can't shared my hotspot as 5ghz band...
Got the same issue here with an S8. No 5*GHz option, I can only change the 2.4*GHz channel.

Question How to enable 5Ghz in hotspot

I have huge problem ever since I have switched to s21 ultra, I mostly use 5Ghz for mobile hotspot for higher bandwidth but I have noticed this option is disabled for me and I can only use 2.4Ghz.
Now in android 11 I was enable to resolve this problem by using activity launcher and manually accessing that menu and enable it, but ever since I have updated to android 12 I can not do that anymore,
I really can't find why samsung did that, my s21 ultra is exynos version.
does anybody have the same problem as mine?
I have searched for any app to enable this also google it but I did not found anything.
do you guys have any idea?
first of all, are you routing 4g or 5g? also, what are their speeds on speedtest.net?

I'm using 4G
No 5G in my contry yet
I switched to 5G but no change
I don't think it is limited by this, Assume I even want to have hotspot with no sim or data enabled
You can do it easily in xiaomi phones, or with 2.4 in samsung
I'm not convinced 2,4Ghz WiFi will create a bottleneck while operating at 4G or even 5G. See no use case for hotspot without mobile data...
Anyway, on my S21U (Exynos) I can still select prefererence for 5Ghz WiFi in hotspot settings after upgrade to Android 12/OneUI 4.0...

to use it as a router, for example, stream some 4k HDR videos to your Android TV, share files between your PS4 and your phone, make a virtual server, transfer files with other computers or phones at high speed, etc.
lucky you, it's disabled for me, can not see the reason

Question WiFi hotspot problem

I have Realme 8, on C09, when using it as WiFi hotspot I can set it only to 2.4GHz. Is it for everybody, or just me?
Redmi note 7,8,9 &10 supports 5ghz as well as some none note variants like the Redmi 9,9T and Redmi 10.
Newer Redmi devices are more likely to have 5ghz wifi support. But when you're in doubt just google the specific phone model and check the “comms" area. If it states that it supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band then it supports both 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequency. But your phone does not show support for that wireless band on its specs list.
EDIT: just noticed you said Realme not Redmi lol, this spec here shows that your phone does have support for 5Ghz for sure. There must be a setting that your missing for that. I'm checking right now to see if theres any system settings that allow you to change that. Try resetting network settings.

I have a Realme 9 pro and GT here that I just checked with and I see the same thing here. It only says 2.4Ghz and in the updates, it shows a connections stability update which is probably where they just removed 5Ghz from the AP band choices. I can't understand why they would do that, but with data you really won't get speeds higher than what 2.4Ghz can handle. But going off of what I have here, it looks like most Realme phones have the same thing

Ok, what i discovered.
If im connected to a Wlan* i then can select under Hotspot 2,4 or 5ghz.
If im only connected to Mobile Data i only got 2,4Ghz
*Wlan supported 2,4 And 5ghz i doint know how it is, if the Wlan only supports one of them
