[Question] When Mi A2 will get support for these? - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

Waiting for official support in these areas.
AR Core Support
Camera2 API Support
Google Widevine L1 DRM Support
Project Treble Support
And it's not hard for them to add support for these services as phone hardware is already capable to support these components then why Mi A2 team is not doing anything about this?

1) Official AR Core Support depends upon Google, unofficially it works.
2) Again, Cam2API can be enabled unofficially so not much hope from Xiaomi.
3) L1 support has been requested from Xiaomi several times but they have turned a deaf ear. This is disheartening, considering that now we know that it can be enabled OTA (Poco F1). Don't hold your breath though.
4) Isn't it supported ? I mean A2 is compatible but I thought it was supported too!
Maybe this is planned obsolescence ans they will provide these "features" in A3 !

AR Core in works after oreo??

I recently came across with an article that says ar core support in coming to our LG Q6
As of this writing, there are 29 smartphones that support ARCore. More if you consider variants like “Plus” and “XL”. Most of them lean towards the latest and greatest flagships.
Thanks to some digging by XDA, the latest ARCore 1.3 update will add support for the following:
• BQ Aquaris X2 (zangya_sprout)
• Honor 10 (HWCOL)
• LG Q6 (mh/mhn)
• Nokia 6 (PL2)
• Nokia 7 Plus (B2N)
• OnePlus 5T
• Sony Xperia XZ (F8331/F8332/SO-01J/SOV34)
• Sony Xperia XZs (602SO/G8231/G8232/SO-03J/SOV35)
• Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact (H8314/SO-05K)
• Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium (H8116/H8166/SO-04K)
• Xiaomi Mi 8 (dipper)
• Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition (ursa)
• Unknown Android One devices (chef_sprout, DRG_sprout)
• Unknown Huawei device (INE)
• Unknown Sony device (SOV48)
I can’t say for certain when these devices will receive support for the augmented reality platform. Google hasn’t yet updated the official listing to confirm the rollout. The only way to find out for yourself is to download ARCore from the Google Play Store below—if it installs and you’re able to launch a supported app, then you’re golden. I have linked a simple AR app for you to try out if you’re interested.

Evaluation app shows compatibility on my XZ2c, but Play Store doesn't have it as a compatible device. I guess you could reach out to develop and see if they will make a way for you...
It may work if you download it on a another compatible phone, backup it and install the backup on the xz2.

Response from Filmic dev :
"Thank you for your interest.
Unfortunately, Sony devices are not supported due to errors in their camera framework implementation. We hope that Sony will issue an update soon to correct the issue, in which case we will be quick to bring support.
Here is a fairly up to date list as to where things currently stand on Android, if interested:
Google Pixel 2: 100% supported.
Google Pixel 1: optical stabilization not available, and auto focus is not working perfectly.
Samsung S9/S9+: No access to high speed framerates on Snapdragon version (Exynos supports 4k60fps). More info available here.
Galaxy S8 and Note 8: no [email protected], auto focus not working perfectly on Note 8, cinematographer kit not available in 4K (limited mode is used). More info here.
Galaxy S7: no [email protected], cinematographer kit not available in 4k.
LG Devices: no manual ISO/Shutter but exposure compensation, no [email protected], auto focus not working perfectly.
Sony devices and the OnePlus5 are not supported due to errors in their camera framework implementation.
In addition please take into account that some models have many different implementations, so they don't work exactly the same way. Also, frustratingly, these "issues" depend on the manufacturers' implementation, because not all of them follow the Android Guidelines for Camera API2."
i guess we should wait for the next update then too bad our xz2 have compatibility issues, there must be another way

Can the Updated Camera Software for the Mi 9 Pro 5G Be Used With These Phones?

Xiaomi mentioned yesterday in their launch of the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G that they worked extensively to rework the camera algorithms to improve the camera performance, and that phone has the same cameras as these phones. I wonder if we'll be able to get that updated camera app for this phone either as a direct update through our phones or if there's somewhere we can get it outside of that. I'd like to try it. Seems like it would work straight up. Any improvements are gladly welcomed.

We'll eventually get the update either on stable MIUI 11 or a patch later on!

Astrophotography isn't that easy to port. A major reason why even Pixel 2 and OG Pixel will not receive this feature is because of hardware limitations. Even if the developers manage to port the feature somehow, it won't give you optimal results. Although the image processing highly depends on the software, but the hardware capability plays a very crucial role as well. For now, I would say, have patience and see how the porting scene rolls out.
I have a Pixel 3 XL (Which is supposed to get the feature) too with the latest official Google Camera 7.2 installed, still no sign of Astrophotography on my end. I am not a developer but have read enough on the topic because I can't purchase the Pixel 4 here in India, so looking out for as many P4 camera features to be available for my Pixel 3. Sadly, Live HDR+ and Dual Exposure controls won't be available for my device too.
Update: cstark27 has released a port of GCam version 7.2 and has managed to enable Astrophotography on the Pixel 2 (of course, the port is universal like always), along with several other changes. It's worth trying the port on the Mi A3 too. Here's the link to the release notes.

When it comes to Google, everything is done by Software. Astrophotography ports are already available for Poco F1, i hope somebody works on them to support A3 too.

Yes, but what I meant was that the results would not be as good as seen on the Pixel 4/Pixel 3/3a due to hardware. And yes, it works. You can even force-enable the Astrophotography feature in GCam.
Which mod has Focus at infinity option?

Had Playground

Hi ! I have buy a pixel 4 a 5g and before use on my old phone Google camera port for it and have playground.
I know Google stop Ar Playground for pixel 4/4a 5g/5 sniff.
But do you know if is possible to have it ?
Thanks
I think they got rid of the pixel visual core, which playground relies on, thus no playground

Hello, I don't think so, visual core is a machine learning isp that was in the previous pixel to improve the photos and the process. but the Snapdragon are much improved in the isp and the optimization of Google already makes the 3a equal games without this chip. Then I was able to use Playground with Google camera mods on oneplus and xiaomi so it's possible without visual core (yes on S835 & 845)
I will wait for a dev to create a Google camera mod for the Pixel 4a 5g / 5 there will surely be Playground work. but it does not matter. Thanks.
