So i followed a guide to unlock my boot loader and then proceeded to use TWRP to back up, Format, and put a new image over it. My error was that TWRP needed to format a drive to let the encryption work, after this i did the back up, formatted the image, put a new image on to it, i used arm64-ab-gapps-su.img, restarted the phone and it would boot into nothingness and cycle the boot process constantly
i feel like i messed around with formatting to much, i know not to format Internal Storage but i may have formatted everything else and now im stuck and in hopelessness about it all
can i just take someone else's Boot Image, Recovery image, System Image, and Vendor Image is that how this works?
I can load up twrp and install, format and back up, it connects to the PC to upload images.
The phone is Moto G6 i bought it from an Australian store unlocked and using it in Australia with Optus as my Service provider
The reason i was looking to change my image was the stock standard OS was crashing with the new update on everything from call's to browsing the web
Hope you guys can help a novice with this

You'll need to flash the firmware while phone is in fastboot mode. You can either flash using ADB or RSDLite; I'd recommend RSDLite.

thats correct these are via ADB mfastboot (which ignores OTA fingerprint check) as flashes full firmware, not the ota.zip which is only a smaller (not full firmware) update
ota.zip is NOT full firmware, so will not fix a corrupted / altered or non stock firmware
but you say you've flashed many roms.... you need to be on correct rom and matching recovery and also un-rooted to flash a OTA.zip as it checks Recovery version and the build fingerprint inside /system folder of original stock rom. if any of these mismatch it will fail.
also (apologies if wrong) but dont you believe your phone to be corrupted or read only hence why you cant flash images?

Phone wont boot, its gets to the point where a blue m apears the goes to a blank screen, when flahing a rom via fasboot, all seems to get right but after restart is like nothing happened, i go back to the same state, same thing happens with twrp or philz, if you want to help, we can continue here but your more then wellcome to read this (nevermind i see you allready did)
So let me make a backup of twrp and see if i can post results, thanks allot, iveen waiting to fix this for so many days now.
A bit of background, i consider myself an advance user, someone that can google problems and fix stuff with it, ivee flashed alot of cellphones in the past ,many xt1064 and other models, just like everybody ealse, easy and no problems, but this one i just cant figure out. Seems like its on read only mode or freezed as a deepfreezed computer, dont mater how many roms i flash and the way i do, everything comes back to the same state, even if i reforma partitions, eeven if i delete pictures or folders, they come back once i reboot.
Its going to take 5hrs to upload my backup

ok ii'm thinking corrupted partitions too.... but if you are willing to try i've made a xt1063 easy installer script for you to try now normally i work on xt1068 and would test on my xt1068 - so have NO xt1063 its UNTESTED - use at own risk.....
just stock firmware / drivers / adb and mfastboot ( same as my xt1068 script) I see no reason it should not be compatible.
download to pc / unzip to folder / read instruction inside
https://mega.co.nz/#!Tok2DJ6T!ggMoQDfAzuA7cmQQjbGCbXolWZTnx_567vG02CiURVsxt1063 4.4.4 easy installer
I repeat it YOUR choice - if it works- great - if runs ok but rom remains same would suggest somethings corrupt - if it doesnt work at all back to square 1....
now im presuming your boot loader is unlocked, as will fail if locked or relocked - if you use and get error please report what they are, i would have done 5.0.2 but its only 50% downloaded with a 1 hr+ to still go, estimate 2 hrs from time of this post until I can post a link

I tried your easy install tool, brand new drivers, diferent usb port, all went smooth but after restart, im at the same situation. Funny thing, and ivee done this multiple times, after reflashing a new rom, most of them never give errors, then after nothing happens , i flash twrp and boot it, and all the files (the original ones , not the just flashed ones) are there intact, even pictures and music.

Yeah i tried those erase commands many many times and same result, i cant replace recovery at all, only boot of it, so when i do " mfastbooot flash recovery twrprecovery.img " then try to boot of recovery, i boot into factory recovery not, twrp, but if i do, "mfasboot boot twrprecovery.img" i can see the recovery img gets flashed and the phone boots of twrp. Weird behavior. So when i notice that i tried to flash a rom with mfastboot, and at the end i gave the command mfasboot boot recovery.img (the original rom recovery) then it gets flashed, and phone reboots, but i gets stuck at the motorola logo. This phone its playing hard to get....
heres, my backup https://mega.co.nz/#!md0AwbLR!uWe9PLklIugOziPLV6O_plbU-Zz9EXbqRvUVpYxECk0 hope you can find something.
Im going to take this phone to a shop to see if they can fix it as i have lost all hope, thanks refuuge for your help.
Hello wonder if anybody can help
I'm looking for a flashable system image for the ASUS ME70CX.
I'm working on a ex-Demo version of the tablet with custom firmware installed for demo usage.
I downloaded the latest firmware from ASUS UL-K01A-ww-12.2.3.28-user.zip
I've erased cache ,userdata and system
From the downloaded firmware I've flashed boot.img ,fastboot.img ,and splashscreen.img
I tried to create a system image using a rooted normal version following online details copying partition mmcblk0p9 and then used sparseconverter to fix a sparse error.
But I get an error says folder not found on the device in recovery (fastboot).
So the first question would be have I copied the correct partition ?
Failing that is there a working system image I can download ?
cheers
Did you find a solution? I tried to update my sons ME170CX/K01A tablet with the download from the Asus website and now it wont boot up. I can get it into droidboot, but dont know what to do from there. I just need to get it working again. I've tried to update with fast boot but it says
error: update package has no android-info.text or android-product text.
I've also placed the update on an SD card and gone to recovery from droid boot but it does nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just not familiar with using fast boot. I been trying for a couple days now, and I'm not finding what to do from here. Just that i should be able to flash from droid boot.
Edit: I found this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/instructions-reviving-me170c-me170cx-t3017466
I found the update for the CX/K01A that had the same software image version as listed in the OP and followed every step as described, with the exception of the download and renamed it to K01A_sdupdate. This all started a couple days ago when I replaced the main board because the micro usb port got ripped off the board. I was much cheaper than sending off for repair and easier for me to buy a used unit with a busted screen from eBay. When I got it all together and working it would not update from 4.3, after all I have done and following the instructions here in the OP it is now on 4.4.2. This is right where it was with the original board. Since he only uses it for games and downloaded movies I'm not messing with it anymore now that its working properly. He'll just have to start over with his games.

Assuming it works the same way as the ME70CX.
First is to get the correct firmware version as not all the ones listed are compatible with all versions for a one hit update.
EG the original version I downloaded wouldn't update / install from the SD card but v10.32.1.33.3 will but it'll then update OTA to v11 .
Download the update , extract the zip files until you get to the last one eg UL-K01A-ww-10.32.1.33.3-user.zip
Rename it K01A_sdupdate.zip
This will now update from the SD card.
If you have erased the unit extract the img files from this file and flash them , then update from the SD card and reboot and it'll work again.
But you need the correct version. I went for the one that was installed in another unit or it updated to on it's first update.
So if you can boot the original chassis up and look at the software version then download the closest on to that.
If you do this to an ex-display model it'll still be in Demo mode afterwards but search for ASUS Retail site and it'll tell you everything you ever need to know about their software for retail operation. Same applies to Samsung . Samsung retail website again has everything you'll ever need to know.

As title says, this is a full stock unmodified B20 TWRP system image. It kan be used in addition to stock boot and recovery images to restore the US A7 to conditions which will be like stock and allow to flash upcoming OTA. This was tested by @jkuczera here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3459107

If you are BL unlocked, you will need to lock it before flashing old recovery and boot (this may not be necessary to get MR2 to flash, depending on what it checks, but the phone might not boot, unknown). This will make your phone verify boot, recovery and /system again, so flash TWRP from tenfar's thread to be able boot after relocking since his is signed
To restore, unzip the file above to TWRP folder on the SD Card, then in TWRP under mount points unmount /system and put check mark on mount system as read-only. The read-only part is important so that TWRP does not modify the /system apon exit. You can then restore boot, recovery and system image.
Another partition, fastboot, was altered if you applied B20_boot, but so far no OTA has check it so it should be fine as is. Chance is it will be just overwritten by next OTA, but in case that changes, info will be added. This step is more risky since it involves using dd command and has to be applied carefully.
EDIT: looks like @Unjustified Dev posted new build that will flash fastboot image http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68677272&postcount=133
You should then boot to stock recovery and factory wipe
In case you did not dump your boot and recovery, they can be found in @rczrider's post here

Indeed and before rebooting , you MUST Wipe Data + Internal Storage, cuz you are flashing new boot and system and will get in conflicts if there no wipe.
Just for clarity sake these are the steps I need to take to get back to B20 from B20_Boot?
1. fastboot oem lock
2. put system image from OP's post AND stock_boot_backup.img AND stock_recovery_backup.img from rczrider's post into TWRP folder.
3. in TWRP unmount /system and check mark on mount system as read only.
4. Flash boot, recovery, and system image.
5. Wipe Data and Internal Storage.
6. Profit?

Step 6 to pull your own: http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/how-to/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-stay-t3461165
Or you can download the one I pulled from my device (it can be found in the Mega folder linked in the OP): http://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/untouched-b20-boot-recovery-files-t3443818
And as option 3 it's inside the B18toB20 OTA file floating somewhere around here
Alright I tried this and something went wrong.
First thing I did was copy all the files where they needed to be. Then I booted into fastboot and did a "fastboot oem lock".
Then my device would do nothing. I would boot up to the ZTE logo then go black a second later. I tried to force into recovery by selecting recovery in fastboot but same thing, ZTE logo then blackness.
I got it back by getting into fastboot and performing a "fastboot oem unlock" again. All it did was wipe data.
What did I do wrong? I thought I am supposed to lock bootloader first before I restore system and flash recover and boot????

Ok so if you modified boot, system or recovery in anyway then after BL lock it will not boot since it will fail secure boot, so you need to load the signed TWRP from tenfar's thread via EDL after locking. That will let you run TWRP with locked BL. Although ig you just want stock for upcoming OTA, then you might be good staying unlocked. If for return, then you should lock it

Yeah, now that we know fastboot will work even on stock boot that will work as well. The only thing you won't be able to do is flash back the B20 fastboot image that way, but enough to pass OTA most likely. The long way you can revert the fastboot image as well. I only wanted to post the image to begin with, but then wrote out instruction as they rolled around in my head. This will change soon anyways so a proper write-up will happen, just not by me, Documentation was never my forte
My BL is unlocked from ZTE right now, If I want to get CM for future but also want upcoming update from ZTE? What are the exact steps that I need to follow to get future OTA but also keep the BL unlocked for future CM? Please help as I'm confused with all these instructions.

1) Format your SD card as exFAT. This is important as otherwise you will not be able to transfer the system image to your SD card since it is 6GB. To do this you can just plug it in to your PC, right click, Format and then select exFAT from the dropdown.
2) Download tenfar's tool for B20, rczrider's boot and recovery backup, and the system image backup from the link in the OP.
3) Create a new folder in /external_sd/TWRP/BACKUPS/serial_number/.Move the stock_boot_backup and stock_recovery backup into the folder.
4) Using a program such as 7zip, extract the 6GB system image file and move it to the same folder.
6) Go to into fastboot mode. Before you do anything you have to relock the bootloader otherwise the system will be modified and you want to be 100? stock. Execute 'fastboot oem lock'. You should then boot to a black screen.
7) Unzip tenfar's tool. Go to the unzipped folder, then hold down shift+right click and select 'Open command window here'. Execute 'axon7root.exe -p [COMPORT #] -r. To figure out your com port #, go to Device Manager, then go to down to where it says "Qualcomm Loader..." and your com port number is the number at the end. So for example if your com port number is 5, you should execute axon7root.exe -p 5 -r. Allow the program to do its thing.
5) Boot into TWRP. Do not swipe to allow modifications. Once in TWRP, go to "Install", "Install Image" at the bottom right hand corner, and then navigate to the stock_recovery_backup in the folder that you moved it to to. Select it and then choose the Recovery partition to flash it to. Do the same thing for stock_boot_backup.
6) Once you have flashed boot and recovery, go to the main menu, then "Restore" and then Restore the system image backup.
7) Go to wipe and then slide to factory reset. Finally, reboot system.
Hope that helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Has anyone who requested the bootloader unlock from ZTE (and mistakenly installed it) returned to stock and been able to get OTA's? I followed this guide and seemed to have returned to stock fine but the only OTA I can get now is the bootloader unlock OTA. I've downloaded and discarded it several times but that is the only one I can get. Anyone know of a way to bypass this OTA and get the new MR2 that was just released? I want to get OTA's until the custom roms start flowing.
Thanks!

From what I can tell, once you apply for official bootloader unlock, your IMEI is placed on a list that will not get any future OTA updates set to it.
However, the OTA for B20 to B27 has been uploaded here: https://mega.nz/#F!kYtRAJjJ!5tD1zPpo0nw2tJwhANA9pQ
Try flashing that via stock recovery.
Quick question for anyone who might know.
The Link to system image which is : https://cloud.swehes.com/index.php/s/31V7GgihohBCdfy has the following;
1. system_image.emmc.win
2. system_image.emmc.win.md5
Am I suppose to rename system_image.emmc.win to system_image.emmc.img and load?
it's not as clear that's why I ask but I ended up downloading rczrider system.img and reflashed via TWRP since I was a bit confused.
Thanks!
***************
I simply just went into TWRP backed up by boot so it would create a directory that contains the info I needed copied the system_image.emmc.win and system_image.emmc.win.md5 and restored.

I suspected as much. I downloaded the update and tried to flash it via the stock recovery using the update for ADB option but it fails saying that the package is not a ks package. Booooo. I really wanted this MR becasue they addressed the weak cell signal which I think contributes significantly to my battery drain. Not sure if there are any alternatives to get the update installed. Not very a happy about the ceased OTA's due to the bootloader unlock. Thinking the new Nexus (or whatever they are going to call them) is looking pretty good at the moment.

Try the microSD card method instead.
First, make sure OEM Unlocking is checked in developer settings, rename the OTA to "update.zip", put on microSD, boot into stock recovery, and choose update from microSD.
Hi all,
I am new to the BLU R1 HD scene. Just got my phone this week. It's a amazon prime variant with firmware v7.4.2 (or v7.2.4?).
I got twrp installed and wiped everything through TWRP, including the internal storage - which removed my only NANDroid backup image.
My phone would freeze at the startup BLU logo now. But I could still enter recovery mode (TWRP). And I could still see the TWRP folder from my Ubuntu (which shows as a internal storage drive)
What should I do? Is there a way to flash it back to stock ROM? Where can I download a stock rom?
I am in panic mode now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

take it easy . sounds like you wiped /system too. but that is ok since you still have access to twrp
take a rom from here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/r1-hd/development/modified-8-3-stock-rom-t3602672
copy it to the phone (internal storage) as seen from your ubuntu.
boot to twrp and select install, browse to the zip file copied to internal

Oh my god that's good to hear! (especially from someone who knows his stuff!)
I was just looking at that other thread you posted.
Okay I give that a try. Thanks much!
It fixed my phone just as you said! The v8.4 rom is even better with higher level security update. Thanks!
Once you have twrp installed, you can recover from most things that go wrong.
One exception is when people do a "wipe all" and erase the phone's MEID unique identification. When that happens, the phone can boot and work but can no longer be connected to a phone service provider's network.
And the more common problem with this phone is people who accept an over-the-air update that disables SP Flash Tool and then want to get root or flash their phones. They are out of luck at that point.
I'm coming to the g6 from an older Samsung. I figured that rooting this one would be just as simple, but was I ever wrong. I've gone through the guides available here, as well as guides on other sites, but no joy. I've probably restored my phone to the original system now 5 or 6 times. I'm hoping that someone can point me in the correct direction here.
The last couple of times I tried, here's what I did and what went wrong. I found a guide over at https://www.androidinfotech.com/root-moto-g6-and-g6-plus-pie/ that was fairly straight forward.
The first time I followed the instructions, booting to twrp failed but I figured that was because it never included flashing twrp to the phone. So I flashed it and used fastboot to boot the phone to the image. I then wiped the phone, flashed magisk and then did the same thing with no-verity-opt and rebooted.
On the reboot, the phone cycled through a couple of attempts and then was successful on the third try. But some things were broken. The battery indicator said I had 0% charge, and the phone refused to connect to wi fi. It also didn't recognize my network. And best of all, I've never achieved root. When I boot back into the bootloader, it comes up with the standard motorola file; not twrp.
Just FYI, I'm running pie.
Can anyone point me in the correct direction here? any help will be very much appreciated.

Need a bit more info
What model G6 ? Software channel?
What build number of Pie are you trying to root?
You say "restored my phone to the original system now 5 or 6 times" what version and build number is that and how are you restoring it?

Model is xt1925-6
Android version is ALI_RETAIL_9.0_PPS29.118-11-1_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip.
I'm restoring it using Minimal ADB and Fastboot, and flashing the files over.
A couple of other things I should probably say too.
1. The phone was originally running Oreo. About two weeks ago, Motorola pushed out PIE to me and I installed it. That caused a tone of problems... the biggest one was that you couldn't hear the phone anymore. Couldn't hear callers, ringing, notifications, etc... It might has well have been a doorstop. I tried to roll the phone back to Oreo doing a factory reset, but that didn't work either. Wiped out my IMEI and carrier. So I did a little research and found out that some other people had the same issue. They couldn't roll back so I figured I was stuck with Pie.
2. At that point, I unlocked the bootloader and downloaded the version above from a link in one of the forums and flashed it to the phone. For whatever reason, that cured the IMEI, carrier and sound issues. Since I've come this far and the phone doesn't have anything on it, I'd like to root what I have and get some of the capability that I had on the Samsung.
Thanks for your assistance on this.

PPS29.118-11-1 has a lot of issues. downgrading doesn't seem possible. I thought we had it solved today but ran into the same issue with calls
Follow This thread for rooting

Oh, interesting, That's the thread I started with but couldn't get to work for me. That's when I went out and found the guide that I linked to in my original posting. Let me walk through the steps I used here to see if you can tell me where I went wrong.
1. Unlocked my bootloader.
2. Installed Minimal ADB & Fastboot.
3. Placed TWRP, in the Minimal ADB director on my PC and loaded Magisk, DM Verity, Magisk Manager apk to the SD card on my phone. (NOTE: the SD card isn't installed in the phone yet. I'll do that after doing the wipe. Just putting the software on it.)
4. Flashed TWRP to the phone and used Fastboot to load it.
5. Wiped the phone. Used advanced wipe and deleted the cache and data then rebooted to TWRP and did it again. At this point, I installed the SD card.
6. Rebooted the phone into TWRP and then selected install for DM Verity and again for Magisk.
7. Reboot and check for root using Rootcheck. I'm being told that I don't have root access.
What am I missing here?
Again, thank you for the assistance.

What ver TWRP did you use?
Apparently there is an official version and a modified version to mount vendor-specific mount points?
Thanks,

I renamed the TWRP file I flashed "recovery.img" and I don't remember the original file name. When I boot to recovery mode it says 3.3.0-0. Hope that helps

Yup, I solved it. Thanks. I ended up using 3.2.3.official.
Rooting; ending in bootloop help
Sorry if I am hijacking this thread; thought to discuss here as the title "Trouble rooting my g6" still applies.
I have:
XT1925-13 (Moto G6 ALI) running stock Android Pie with build ppss29.55-34.
I have issues when I tried to root. I followed these steps:
I downloaded the factory image “ALI_RETAIL_9.0_PPS29.55-34_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip” and flashed it first. The mobile restarted and went to the first screen to select a language.
I rebooted it into bootloader, ran the TWRP as a temp by command “fastboot boot twrp-3.3.0-0-Ali.img,” which asked for the password.
I pressed cancel, and then I wiped cache and data.
Via ADB I transferred “adb push Magisk-v20.0.zip /sdcard” and “adb push no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1.zip /sdcard”.
Then from TWRP, I installed Magisk. Then when installing no-verity, it gave an error “updater process ended with an error: 1 error installing zip file ‘no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1.zip’.
Rebooted the device with hope and ended in a boot loop.
I also tried to use Magisk-v19.4.zip in the above steps and also tried to skip no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.1.zip. All ended in boot loop.
Any idea why? Are there any guides for the combination XT1925-13 (Moto G6 ALI) running ppss29.55-34?
Many thanks for your time.
Here is a solution
Flash original boot in fastboot followed by TWRP and reboot in recovery.
Install Magisk 19.4 in TWRP (3.3.x Android 9 OK) and reboot
You can update to 20 in Magisk Manager later
