Hello fellow Galaxy owners,
I have been installing various custom ROM´s for about 2 months now, so I guess you could still call me a beginner. Recently it has been difficult to keep up with all the latest and greatest advances in kernels and ROM´s. Being a father I don´t have as much time as I used to, to read through the mountain of information on the forums.
It is for this reason that I ask for some simple advice. I have found that Hamster, Instanity and DocRom ROM´s are all very fine pieces of work and they are blisteringly fast. The GPS is fast, the themes are epic but alas the battery life is pretty bad (well for me at least).
I must admit thought that I am obsessed with my phone and I use it constantly to read the news, check emails and stream internet radio while I am driving in my car on a daily basis.
I currently have DocRom slim V3 installed after having done a complete fresh installation. But despite being fast it seems to be very hungry on the power consumption.
Do I need to cycle it through some complete battery discharge cycles and fully charge it, then reset the battery stats in CWM recovery? Does it need some days to settle? Or should I flash different Kernels and see which one gives me the best life? If the latter then which kernel do you recommend for JPU?
Thanks in advance!

With 3g my I9000 die after 10 hours!
With 2g die after 14 hours!
With data network mode deactivated die after 30 hours!
I don't know if changing baseband or kernel will help or not!

I'm having pretty good battery life without any network and LiveWallpapers turned off... just simple black screen it stayed ON for 4 days with some WiFi surfing, PDF reading and music listening player/online radio. So I guess network is draining the most.
DocRom V6.2
I just installed Doc´s ROM v6.2, and it has greatly increased my battery life.

Great to hear this!
I don't know if this is your case, I used to have the beautiful widgets weather widget on my home screen, and after soem time I realized this app was constantly refreshing and consuming LOTS of battery.
If you have it, removing it will increase your battery life too.
I have same problem,i do have the beautiful weather widget installed and think it looks nice on home screen, maybe this is the batt killer??
What other programs does the same? I like the watch and weather widget to be shown..?
Hi there,
I'm both new to this forum and new to ZUK.
My name is Pascal, I'm 23 and I currently live in Germania.
I received my Z2 Pro on Monday and was shocked to see, that contrary to what is said about the battery life of this phone on the internet, be it reviews or user posts in forums, reddit, etc. my battery right off the bat.
I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem with my device, but while people tend to get 5h+ screen on time, I just sit here watching my phone drain 2% in idle. Not touching it, not doing anything.
You can imagine what that means, when I start a game and I'm on really low display brightness too, also no mobile data involved.
Over night the phone drains a whopping 18%, which is not acceptable, not for me personally and not for this phone: I know something must be fishy, Zuk hasn't that much history, but in the history it made it proved to make great handsets with superb battery life.
The phone is factory new, but the support told me that's nothing out of the ordinary with that battery drain, as it is really powerful hardware, but that's not what the internet says (about the battery) and certainly strong hardware doesn't mean, at all, idle battery drain of 2-3% an hour...What nonsense. No response at all would be more competent than this explanation...
I don't game much (yes, I know Pokémon Go is out and I REALLY would play it, but for that I need to fix my battery problem), I don't even do much with the phone, just surf the web, chat, talk (phones still do that, who would've thought) and occasionally watch a video, but mostly I just read.
I lurked this forum for years and as I try to find/fix my problem since Wednesday, but to no avail until now, I decided to sign up and test the finesse and know how xda proved to me time and time again with great apps and roms on myself.
I'm sorry that my first post here is such negative ranting, but I'm at my wits end and just want to be able to enjoy my ZUK and the battery life you all happy owners have.
I hope somebody can help me here.
If it's more comfortable I'm also available on some Messaging App.
Also speak German and Polish.
Thank you, if you made it this far and thank you in advance for your attention and help.
You will be paid in honest gratitude and, if you want, internet friendship.
Did you flash the stock ROM?
I infer from that answer that my experience is defo NOT normal?
No, I didn't flash anything. But I thought it is stock. Today it updated to ZUI 2 via OTA, so I thought maybe there's a fix but no.
Fully charged, Wifi on, screen brightness at about 70%, horrible results. Down to 79% in 2 hours.
31 minutes screen on time only. Nothing power consuming. Is it faulty?

maybe you got a defective unit. return it.
Huh...that's bad.
Got another mail from support now. They want the serial and IMEI. I wonder what for.
Also this plead might be too much, but maybe someone has the time for like testing his/her own fully charged phone with 20-30 minutes of a certain app maybe and tell me the consumed percentage. I'm fully aware and understand when this request is too much, as this is x time of someones life, so if noone does, that's okay
Was gone for an hour now, phone set on idle at home falling down 5%. I don't know what to do.
edit: later that day I charged it again fully. Turned off bluetooth for fun. Only wifi is on. Not three hours later it's on 88 %.

i didn't do anything. but looking at the consume meter.

i guess that andorid os is a promble. how about u.
It sounds like you have the malware infected reseller ROM. If you had the stock Chinese ROM you wouldn't be able to OTA without a Chinese IP address.

If you have the official ROM you will not be able to OTA without a Chinese IP address. I know because I had to VPN to get the updates.
As a first step, you could check the battery stats to see if there is an obvious culprit. Also, by tapping the battery graph, you can get more detailed stats for e.g. "mobile network signal". If you are in an area of bad coverage, most phones will drain their battery much, much faster than somewhere with a strong and stable signal. Good luck!
Thank you for your reply and sorry for my late answer.
Do you have any app recommendation for a good battery check-up? I don't have Sim-Card in it yet, so the bad signal shouldn't be an issue, only wifi is used.
I thought I had official ROM too as it looks the same until I read these forums
If it has more languages than Chinese and English it is not official.
If programs like U-Health are missing it is not official.
Flash the latest real official rom...my battery is awesome.
@shaunydub: There is no other languages there.
U-Health is working.
I don't know. Now the System Update (which cannot update without chinese vpn) is keeping the phone alive and the battery is even worse. Factory resetted it yesterday.

Hi,
Can you provide a good link to flash it ?
I seem to have the same problem because the phone has a lot of languages, and moreover, there is some apps still in Chinese.
Maybe i should flash it to CyanogenMod because i want it in French.
Any help from everyone will be appreciated.
Lot of Thanks and Happy new Year to everyone

Try to turn off the save function on gaps. i have the same phone and flashe d away with beemlers aikp. but its buggy , so i would nt suggest u to flash atm. best regards
Any solution for this problem? I just got Zuk Z2 Pro from banggood, battery life is terrible compared to my zuk edge.. my Z2 Pro has 8 hours of standby and 30 minutes of SOT. And the battery temperature is hot under idle condition (about 37 -40C). I contact banggood for this problem, they said to try flashing the phone to official ZUI rom. But no luck..
I have the same issue with z2 plus. Battery drains so fast during non usage. And phone gets heated up.. with no reason. There must be some software bug. Because most of the other phones using the same hardware having the excellent battery life.
BG's custom ROMs are defective.
Flash ZUI 1.9 with QFIL (be sure to use the USB 2 ports at the back of your computer) to get back to stock and get access to OTA updates.
Hi everyone,
long time no action in this thread, but I have the same problem with my Z2 Pro and no solution yet. Is it confirmed that the problem is caused by a defective shop rom from Banggood? I also bought my device from them, but immediately unlocked bootloader, installed custom recovery and run RR. The problem never disappeared unfortunately, independent what RR version it runs, battery maximally lasts one day (normal usage, no gaming etc.) and loses ~20% in flight mode per night.
Very annoying, the device itself is great but this problem let me really think of replacing it. Was anybody able to turn such device into a normally working one? Does ZUI 1.9 flashing with OTA enabled solve it and I can then go back to RR?
Thanks & Regards,
Torsten
So, It has been 10 months of headaches. Bought in july 2019, for two months best phone ever, battery lasted 2 days, near to 1-2% of battery drain at night on standby. After installing miui 11, the battery said "bye bye". 3h screentime, need to charge the phone twice a day, losing 10%/h on standby.
What I tried is:
-havoc os
-xiaomi.eu Miui 11-12. beta and stable
-Evolution x
-latest firmware always/reinstalled latest firmware-vendor
-always clean install wiping everything
-new battery 2 months ago (same results, no difference at all)
-no app is draining battery in the settings
-unistalled analytics and miui daemon (msa not found on xiaomi.eu roms)
the phone goes in deep sleep as you can see in the photos in the link below.
Gps, wifi and bt always on. Tried switching them off, just 1% less of battery drain on standby.
Bought a broken mi 9t pro just to try switching motherboards, just to try that it isn't a electric or physical issue with the phone, but can't do it that right now, waiting the new screen to test the broken phone.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/zaAoKBJ4txMa7vRg9
Any suggestion?
Have you tested putting the phone on standby in airplane mode? This is unlikely to be the root of the issue but poor cellular signal may negatively impact the battery life.

tried that also, nothing change. Always 4%+/h of drain in standby.
I've pretty same problem, and it's really strange...
I've a Mi 9T Pro, bought not more than 2 months ago brand new, all stock.
I leave on just the phone active during the night, in both SIM cards: no bt, no wifi, no mobile data active.
The battery drain is around 10%, which is really insane considered that before my 3 years old phone, an Honor 8, in same conditions, was draining not more than 4%.
In general battery is draining really too much.
Passed OTA from MIUI 11 to 12, but the drainage is same.
I'd like to understand what is the issue causing that.
Dude. Same issue for me. It's only 6 months old. I noticed battery loss on miui just a month into purchase. I'd suggest pick a rom without Gapps or one with microG and try them out. I was using evo X and getting around 6-7 hrs SOT. Once I moved to Aim and Omni I started getting 9-10 SOT. I think Gapps is mostly the culprit. Miui sucks these days. I tried miui 12 and was utterly disappointed. Try this and you might just start loving your phone again. I'd say go for Omni and setup microG, install greenify, turn off battery optimisations only for essential messaging apps and turn on aggressive doze. Your sure to see a difference
Try havoc os 3.7 , try it without social apps like instagram, facebook and other crap.
Mine usually lasts around 3 days with 6h sot.
I also have gps , bt , sync and data always on
Tried gms doze? Disabling autostart of apps in miui?
Mi 9T Pro ll Tapatalk
The point, guys, is not to try different ROMs or install apps or not to use social medias because the phone drains battery...
The point is that the phone should not drain battery that much at all!
I think Xiaomi should care more of the firmwares released, trying harder to fix bugs that might be important rather than releasing new features.
My own opinion.
PS. Last night i checked the battery drain thoroughly: from 1.30 am to 7.30 am, just both SIM cards on to receive eventually phone calls, no WiFi, no BT, no internet connection, ND mode active = battery drained 9%
It is not acceptable!!
Clear all apps from memory, clear cache of 'Google Frameworks' and 'Google Play Services' don't restart the phone
I do this whenever I remember usually every few days and get great SOT around 9-11 hours. Although Accubattery says my battery health is 3300 of the 4000 as I've had it for a while and I'm a very very heavy user. Brand new was getting closer to 10-12 hours doing this same method.
I found it by someone posting a random comment somewhere in this forum just don't know who or where I saw it. They gave no explanation as to why it works but just what they did and its worked immediately. Note I'm still on MIUI 11.0.3 Global as I'm nervous this method won't be as effective in more newer MIUI Versions.
If you have a newer version please try and let me know if it still works, hope this helps
Also I reinstall MIUI through the phone after clean flashing it via Mi Flash
That is that I flash clean (erase storage but not lock bootloader) from Mi Flash and then go to the update settings of the phone and then press the 3 dots at the top left and "download latest update" and then install it again
This helped when I was on MIUI 10.X.X but do it out of habit so not sure if it helped for MIUI 11.0.03
edit: Reinstall method
Similar issue with my K20 Pro.
1. The battery backup on Android 9/MIUI 10 was giving me close to 1.5 days of backup of 7-8 hours of screen time.
2. It was decreased to 6-6.5 in Android 10/MIUI 11
3. Now with MIUI 12 it is reduced to 6 hours and with need of charging two times in a single day. All this with no social media apps, only Whatsapp, Youtube, Prime Video, Spotify and MS outlook, teams apps with regular usage. WIFI all the time, no GPS, 2-3 hours of Bluetooth. plus tried deboating MI apps.
So far I have tried PE, EVOX and EU roms but all gave me disappointing battery backup. The battery seems fine only on android pie so my assumption is that battery probably doesn't need replacement and more of xiaomi's firmware related issue on android 10.
It's so disappointing to see such a great piece of hardware holding back because of battery. I hope somebody find a good solution to this issue.
Hi everyone,
I've tested five Android 11 ROMS and I have to say that all of them are fantastic but I always get the same problem: my battery life is decreased 50%. I usually use my rolex device for day-by-day usage. I've tested 5 roms, 3 different batteries for almost 2 months...
Finally I've came back to android 10 (Superior OS is my favourite ) and battery life is normal again... so for the moment I conclude that there is a problem with android 11.
I've read about battery issues with other devices (Samsung) and Android 11, but I don't know if that is a officially known problem or not.
Someone else with that problem?
It doesn't matter what you configure or your ussage of the device. For me my battery is consumed 50% quickier. I've observed that Android doesn't detect any problem with battery or apps or processes, everything seems to be normal. Even at nigh with no usage, screen off and suposed to be sleeping, the battery consumption is very very high

Hi Thago,
I've Tested Pixel Experience, WaveOS, ShapeShiftOS, DotOS.
I'm testing PixelExperience_rolex-11.0-20210213-1852-BETA-UNOFFICIAL and when the screen is off, its fine. It can last the whole day, but with the screen on, it last only 3 or 4 hours.

How? Do you mean this?
Use your phone until the battery dies. Wait until the screen turns off completely.
Turn your phone back on. It will likely shut down again before it finishes booting, but the battery isn’t completely dead yet.
Repeat this process several more times. Power it on, let it keep trying to boot up, then let it die. Eventually, the phone won’t even try to boot up anymore — you won’t even see the boot logo or splash screen. At this point, you can stop powering the phone back on.
Without turning your phone on, plug it into a charger. Let it sit there plugged in and turned off for at least 6 hours. The goal here is to charge it to 100% capacity without turning the phone on.
Once you’re confident that your battery is fully charged, go ahead and turn your phone back on. Resume your normal usage and normal charging habits.
I also have problems with battery duration on android 11. I thought the battery was old, but after buying a new one I'm back with the same problem.

Dear Leodp
With latest roms, the battery problems was solved for me. I tested Aosp extended, Superior OS (phoenix) and for me the best: Nusantara OS, I'm testing it for day by day usage for 3 weeks and works really well.

Claudio.

Thanks, Nusantara OS is ok, no battery problems. I also installed Magisk GMS Doze module, which should reduce battery usage for play services.

Hi,
I think I wrote something not 100% correct.
The fast battery drain I was experiencing with some Android versions seems to be due to an app, probably for reading emails, and not to Android itself.
After cleaning up the mess of installed apps, I have now long and consistent battery duration with both Android 10 & 11 (various versions).
There's only (probably) a marginal loss of battery % in Airplane mode on my actual Android 11 installed system, but it's too low to be sure.
So that means: no issues with Rolex and Android 11 for me.
Hello guys
anybody can help me please , I am using Cr-droid 8.10 since week ago it's really excellent ROM but I am facing heavy battery drain during the night on average 20% is lost every night the phone is not going into deep sleep although it tried to disable all apps that might wake up also I used nap time still I don't know what's the problem or how I can fix it any suggestion because I am thinking to revert back to miui
attached my battery usage and naptime log
i know... but crdroid is not good... i tried all roms for sweet.. very similar but more stable is project elixir 12.. very better (first days i had 1 reboot, after few days never happen)

Have you already tried this?
With mine RN10Pro this did help a lot (from < 5h to >9h SOT )
I run this workaround now for 2 months
Install Better Battery Stats from XDA, take proper logs as explained in the thread and post it there for analysis. Wakelocks might be an issue.
I went back to MIUI guys I think no way around it all custom roms for this phone either fast but with some annoying bugs or drain battery

Idle drain in (stock, not rooted) MIUI in general is pretty good, around 0.3-0.4%/h with always on 4G data but after a few days it almost always doesn't enter Deep Sleep which increases drain to 2%/h which isn't horrendous at least. Restarting the device is the only fix.
BBS works with ADB permissions so I might give that a try.
For now I have given up on my plan to rid my father's RN10 Pro of stupid MIUI.
is suggest change rom... crdroid is not eccellent, has many bugs (aod blink, touch issue, deep sleep not work).. very very similar (but much better) project elixir 12.1 + last sleepy kernel. no drain, deep sleep working, miui camera included, no bugs, i use this from 2 weeks and work perfect (and i tried ALL existing rom for this device XD )
