Hi,
I'm currently using a Motorola Milestone A853 (GSM version of the CDMA Verizon Droid), and I'm looking to upgrade to the LG Optimus 2X P990 soon. Is there anybody out there who also came from the Motorola Milestone?
I want to know the battery life as compared to the Milestone... The Milestone sometimes has terrible battery life (6 hours!). I'm hoping LG Optimus 2X will be a good purchase. What do you guys think?
Personally i believe the optimus was a good buy, especially now. the newer phones dont seem to have problems.
6 hours? LOL even the lgos can beat that ;D
I'd say, go for it. Its an incredibly good phone with some teaks
Have had the O2X for just over 2 months now. I had a few reboots and freezes initially but not after the V10d update from LG. The only other issue I had with the phone was an unreliable USB connection to the PC. I got the phone replaced and haven't had any problems with the new one.
You haven't mentioned whether you are looking for an out of the box phone or are willing to install a custom ROM on it. This seems to be the most well supported dual cure android out there at the moment with Cyanogen and Modaco doing great stuff for it.
Based on my experience, I have no issues recommending this phone but that doesn't mean there are 'better' alternatives out there depending on what you are looking for.
Battery usage is subjective and depends on usage as well. I am ok with battery life. I get better life out of it by freezing certain rogue stock apps like Car Home after rooting though .
Let us know what you decide.
I have been using a milestone for over a year. I am happy with the upgrade. I don't miss the hardware buttons and i prefer the thinner design of the Lg. The speed in applications and internet browsing has improoved. I'm also impressed by the media playback. The other night i streamed an online flashvideo through hdmi to my tv, without any problems at all. There are a lot of disappointed Lg ovners because of the continuing fw delays. But it's nothing compared to the way, the Milestone owners has been treated by Motorola.

I read about the reboots, but I'm not so bothered. My current Milestone is worse (DSI errors!) and is not fixable. But nice, good to know there's an official fix.

I'm actually a power user so I'm fine with both. If stock LG with minor fixes are good to go, then I'd prefer to go that route. I frequently do ROM cycles on my Milestone, currently using CM7 on it, but thanks to the locked bootloader, I haven't had a taste replacing the kernel yet Glad to know it's officially supported by Cyanogenmod!

I originally considered the Samsung Galaxy S II, but it was too expensive even under contract (S$488, SingTel, Singapore). LG Optimus 2X is S$218, and since I can trade in my Milestone for S$100, it's effectively S$118, pretty good price. So I'm kinda fixed on O2X

Thanks! I hope I'll be happy with the upgrade too. But how about the differences in battery life? (it's kind of like a deal decider...)

Quoted for truth.
Thanks guys for the input!

Even i changed to optimus 2x from Milestone.threatened Motorola through legal methods and got my whole money back.
anyway coming to the main point.O2X is much better than Milestone.A choice i dont regret.I just Miss the MIUI Roms.
My battery easily lasts 1-1.5 days.I am a heavy user.Wifi,Games,Songs,Movies.
The best Part bieng an open boot loader.we dont have to wait for the Companies to provide an Update.
Ram is double than that of milestone. The processor is dual core not to mention it has HDMI out and the graphics are awesome.
All in all you should be happy with the O2X
Hi,
I came from a Motorola Defy to Optimus 2x and I should say that Motorola is releasing poor software compared to LG (even if it's not perfect).
The video playback is really good out of the box (Divx / Divx HD support and more), the camera is by far better, the bootloader is opened for real good custom roms, the battery will improve with time today it's more than a day for me.
Don't hesitate go for it.
Compared with the SGXS2, it records full HD 1080P, the screen being smaller, the phone is a bit smaller (not thinner), today again I would think about the difference for the price.
Cheers
The SGSII has some serious display issues right now, i wouldnt go for it at the moment.
As ive said previously, my brother has already sent back 2 SGSII
Hello guys!
I currently have the LG optimus one, and am looking to buy a new phone. Im torn apart between the SE xperia mini pro(not the x10 mini pro) and the Moto Defy.
Ive used my O1 for a year, right from the early days (when mik gave us his 1st touch-bug free kernel). I wont be selling it off though so I'll still be regular on this forum
Now Pls help me decide between the 2 phones.
On one hand theres the big screen on the defy and on the other theres the hw keypad and the 1Ghz procy :|
My doubts are:
How do the 2 CPUs and GPUs fare against each other?
Is Defy gonna have much prolonged support since its already over a year old.?
The Motorola defy looks to be a solid phone with good support so I would get that. I also jumped ship and ordered a MyTouch 4g.

Title says it all. I have had the LG G2 for about a month now and I like it, but I have been going back and forth whether or not it is the best phone for me. I Like the look of stock and my LG G2 looks like stock. It is rooted with a customized LG stock rom.
Is there anyone that came from the LG G2? I originally came from Verizon Galaxy Nexus, so my biggest concern is laggyness. Is there any laggyness in the moto x?
For the ppl that came from the LG G2, what made you switch and what do you like over the G2?
There is nothing wrong with the LG G2, just not sure its what I want. I don't play many games, for me it is a phone first. Spotify, Pandora, feedly, Facebook and Redit are my main apps.
How is the battery in the Moto X? On my G2 I am ending the day with 35% left, 27% screen time.
@erapmicks, I found your post. What phone did you end up getting?
Mods, if this needs to go in General, lmk and I will move it.
Thanks,
Opie

Really? My X kills my wife's G2 in the battery department.
Sent from my XT1056 using Tapatalk
Build quality and materials on the X is better. Speaker on the X is much better. Camera is quicker although not quite as good. Size of x is better in hand. Many people reporting battery bug on X although when resolved the battery life will be similar. Updates come quicker on the X. Screen is better on the G2.
Hope this helps..

Hi people
We are at the end of 2014, the LG 4X HD have more than 2 years of life.
I liked it, but now the phone is laggy, autonomy sucks (need a 4800mah and finish at 40% my days on CM11), my screen have strange little white points..ect
It was a good companion, but it's time...TO CHANGE !
And i suppose i'm not the only one here who will do this (or have done this).
So, what are you going to buy (or already bought) for replace your 4X HD ?
I think i gonna buy the LG G3, because i like big screen, good perf, LG functionalities. He haves a "good" autonomi, nice camera, cool screen and cost less than 380€ (good deal :good: )
Or maybe a Huawei Honor 6, cheaper, smaller but good too.
And you ?
I'll wait for q1 2015 to change device probably, if the phone survives till then since I cracked the screen few weeks ago. Gonna pick up snapdragon 810 device, possibly z4
Probably One PlusOne or LG G3. But very likely OPO.
On Saturday I switched to the HTC One M8, after I have softbricked my 4X HD with a Lollipop Test build I have compiled. [emoji43] Anyways, the 4X HD was laggy with every rom after a while and battery life and GPS were horrible and sooner or later I wanted to buy a new smartphone anyways. My big thanks to the great devs here! Hope you'll get Android Lollipop working!
Greetings,

Well, every now and then i click through new phones, i very much like the honor 6, i love the Z3 compact for its water resistance (who wouldnt want to take a shower while keep listening to his favorite audio book?), but i always end up thinking "why would i need a new phone? the lg 4x hd is still good, it has 720p, it has a quad core with 1,5GHz, and i dont really need more atm. phones like that still cost 200+ €, and i dont want to spend 300€ or more for a marginal performance boost."
after all, its still only a phone. its not my friend, its not a PC, its no house, and it will never be.
99% of the time i use it for communication, email and whatsapp that is, and it can do this as good as every hi-end phone.
at work i have a full fledged PC, at home i watch TV on a smart TV with amazon prime / maxxdome, i play on my PC, not on the phone, so theres really little useful space left for a 500€ high end phone.
its a toy, you want to have it, because you are used to wanting it, but thats because you got drilled to feel this way your whole life. :silly:
i will wait until this phone design gets more useful.
i can imagine a phone with an included beamer for displaying, with a laser keyboard for typing, i want REAL mobile flatrates, but until then i just dont need a "new" device with about the same specs for another some-hundred Euros. I bought a new Battery for 7€ at amazon for the p880, and that was enough for me.
So: I will wait until my phone breaks or some of the ideas i mentioned above will find their way into new products, but for now im fine with our good old p880.
Wow it's funny nobody look for the same phone, some Z4 (good luck for waiting ), Z3C, M8...
But take a Nexus 5 now, when some flagship of 2014 fall under 350€ ? mmmh
And yes the OnePlus One looks cool too, but bugs and SAV don't reassure me, so nope
But the most stranger here is...that nobody want to retake a LG Device ?

You are right Adam77Root, but the LG G2 will have 5.0 like the G3, so it's better now (it can't be worst yep ^^)
Got an invite to the Oneplus One. Fairly cheap and fast hardware is what I like .
Before I switch to it though I'm (hopefully) gonna test Android 5.0 on the P880 first.
Loved this phone, got it for around 130 US $. Gets pretty hot sometimes but it still runs everything just fine with Zaiben RC17 rom.
I've bought an Redmi 1s.
No regret, for it's price, it's verry nice .
iam already on Sony Z3, x4 was a bad experience in every way
I have a "very bad" temptation : I might buy a Blackberry Passport which gives me the opportunity to be different and at the same time not to leave the Android World completely...
But the cost is very very high at the moment and Sony Z3 compact could be a better reasonnable choice
Welp, I buckled down and ordered Oneplus One with my friend from Germany, and it was delivered to him today. I'll be switching to Oneplus One once he's back in Bosnia, in a week or two.
I'll keep monitoring our phone subforum untill I recieve it, and hopefully even after that. @Demetris , @laufersteppenwolf, @Adam77Root - Thanks a bunch for everything you've done for our device. @iodak , hvala i tebi brate.
Thanks go out as well to @Rudjgaard, @ectoplasma22, @alfsamsung, kholk, and everyone else who contributed to making our device better. If I missed anyone, and I surely have, I apologise.
Take care everyone.

Night and day. The DX and DX2 are pieces of junk compared to the G2.
Any phone will cause problems when rooting, or flashing Roms if you don't know how to read and follow instructions.
