My current rent phone is snapdragon 652 and I still don't have budget to buy latest flagship (not even poco).
So I saw this seller on a buy and sell shop and he/she sells mi mix china rom (there are ratings/reviews from several customers so i think the seller is legit).
I want to use it for gaming/media consumption. It is china rom (stock miui oreo) with google installed. If i buy it, i don't intend to root it nor change rom. (i don't know how to do either).
Should i buy it?
Is it good for gaming/media?
(assuming the battery is good condition), is the 4400mah battery efficient in standby battery drain?
What else should I be concerned about?
I only saw/read a few reviews because searches always give reviews about mix 2/2s/3, not 1st gen. And the reviews i saw focused on camera/display, not gaming.
Please give me some inputs.
It's the worst device for gaming! Don't buy it!

Im thinking buying a mi 5 ?But overall the mi 5 is a good phone?
Well, there are tens of reviews on internet if you want more specific information.
I don't think Mi5 is a budget phone. More than that it is a flagship phone with surprisingly low price. Great design, camera, display etc. I can't find anything better with that money.
Only weak thing in my opinion is MIUI and locked bootloader. I personally don't like it too much. But as long as custom rom development is good, you can fix it. Of course you need a little effort to unlock the phone and install custom rom.
Apart from MIUI I would suggest this phone to anyone who wants not too big display. Now I suggest this phone to anyone who is ready to put a little extra effort and time to make it even better.
Been using MI5 for over a month now. I even unlocked bootloader and custom roms and went back to stock. Snapdragon 820 spec and cheap price, you wont go wrong, though u must consider if network bands in ur area is compatible with this devce
If you can get it at the advertised price or close then there is nothing better at that price point. You really are getting a flagship phone at a budget price.
I like MIUI v8. It is a huge improvement over the previous versions and very stable as I have never had any issues (stock stable China ROM). Lots of useful features, nice theme. Updates every couple of months to include latest fixes and security patches. Nougat will arrive soon I hope. Also have your choice of China, EU, or Global rom.
SD820 is still one of the best around. Battery life is excellent. Build quality is very nice but slippery. Lovely display. Nice size for me. Has an IR blaster that I find useful now and again when traveling. Dual-sim works perfectly and unlike a lot of other flagship phones, it works with 4G/LTE and 3G at the same time which is tremendously useful if traveling to countries that have no 2G network.
Only slight negative is that the camera isn't up there with the best of the best (Apple and Samsung), it's just good.
...wow prices are really low at the moment.... about 120 usd!!!
i don't know if to buy or not... i think these are THE LAST stocks..... ( so the last opportunity to buy it)
at that price it would be an amazing buy even if its just for a back up i bought one and havent looked back sot is great most games run great just eui gets some getting used to but if you wanted you can change rom
I have it, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The phone's design isn't very good (many don't bother, I didn't), battery life sucks, EUI sucks, IR Blaster is not very good, no NFC, notification light is very very bad, and gets EXTREMELY hot (I can't even hold it at times, and I don't even use it while charging). Just pass this. I do recommend Xiaomi though. But if I'm gonna buy a phone right now, it'll be Lenovo P2 (SD625, 4GB RAM, 5000+mAH), it's battery life is the best there is, and I've made a resolution to check the battery life from now on before purchasing phones. Also, SD625 should be able to do everything SD652 does.
For my s2, camera lag (4s to function) and malfunctioning auto-rotate are not acceptable even as a back up.
Maybe I got a bad one.

I have the Pro 3. US version. Like it. Run Nova as launcher.
Thinking of buying S3 as Backup and experimental device. Maybe flash ROM. Cheap and known for me.
Did you buy it? Where was it for $120 new?

gearbest. i have not bought it
Hi,
I am thinking about buying some LeEco phone, as I see it can be bought for quite good price around 110-130$ (however I probably need to add 20% tax when it arrives to my country in EU).
Which one would you recommend and why? And where to get it for the best price?
So far I saw X626 for around 110$ on Aliexpress (or slightly more on some eshops like Tomtop) with 4 GB RAM and Mediatek CPU, or X520 for 120$ on Tomtop with just 3 GB RAM and Snapdragon 652.
X626 looks like better pefrormance/price option, but it seems that X520 has lower battery drain and there are alternative ROMs available for it.
The rest of specs is the same (camera, QuickCharge 3.0 etc)?
I am a bit confused with the camera performance - some reviews say it is quite good, but others say it makes blurry and washed out photos. What is your experience?
Is there any chance how to get LTE on 800/900 MHz working with any of those, or only internetional version X527 can do that (which is probably not available for such low price)? Any chance that some of them will get Android 7/8?
Hardware wise it's a good device for the price. Be aware however that there isn't any support from the company. If you buy this phone, you are committing to diving into rooting, flashing ROM's, flashing recoveries, and all sorts of fiddling with the device to get it to do what you want
emkorial: Yes, I have no problem with performing rooting and flashing ROM. However you didn't answer my questions on X626 vs X520, camera performance etc.
Even more confusing is the fact that some sellers on Aliexpress are offering Le 3 X626 with 21 Mpx camera...is it any special version with Sony camera module instead of Omnivision ?
Better u do not buy Leeco as there is no support.
So best optiion to buy any other MI phone
Not a good buy now
Once upon a time, LeEco was in a good position to defeat Xiaomi with its budget offerings. But now, with the company's future becoming a question mard, it wouldn't be wise to buy a device from it. The existing devices has stopped receiving OS updates. There are a lot of other good alternatives to consider
I shot the x820 6g 64gb 6 month ago. It's a great Phone! The FP ist ****ed up but i do not need it... And after the next bigger issue i will change to a custom Rom (Lineage). I had two xiaomis before and i think that MIUI is nice, but the Updates are never perfect and it comes anytime to some new Bugs. I think the x720 ist very interesting too. And There are some new Models on the Market in the Close future (x850..). The Hardware of leeco is much better for the Same Money..Look at kimovil for less Money Check the x522.
Where I live they are offering a free Galaxy Buds Pro for anyone who pre-orders the S21 Ultra during this week. I am still waiting for comprehensive reviews and comparisons between the SD 888 and Exynos 2100.
Is the Galaxy Buds Pro worth it and risking with pre-ordering right now?
Depending on where you're based, you have a return window. The pre-order deal & trade in value was really good so I've traded in my S10+.
In the UK it's 28 days, and you can let them know on the 28th day that you intend to return, doesn't have to be in their hand by that point. Just don't send your trade-in until you're sure you don't want to return the ultra. obviously you have to return the buds as well.
Whilst reviews are a good indication, its always best to use the phone and see how you feel, from what I've seen so far, there is still a gap but it's much smaller than last year. There aren't many great phones available that aren't Chinese branded ( OnePlus ) which I'm trying to avoid for ethical reasons, so my choices are limited, fingers crossed the exynos delivers!
Here it is difficult to return, I might be able to do so but not easy.
I currently have a OnePlus 6, so even if the Exynos is slower than the SD 888, it is still better than the current SD845, but I want to be sure the Exynos is good, last year it was a terrible choice with overheating and worst battery.
Seems delivery times are starting to lengthen, Sunday now in the UK so hurry up!

I am not in a hurry to get the smartphone itself, I can wait, but if the Galaxy Buds Pro are worth it and I can get them for free if I preorder now then I will preorder.
Where are you based? Double check the Samsung website and see what they say, but obviously only go ahead if you're comfortable. You can get comparable if not better earbuds for less than the RRP of the pros so don't risk it if you aren't comfortable! You'd be able to buy say the one plus 9 pro and headphones of your choice for less than the ultra price
Fyi I've seen a pc mark battery test that claimed around 12 hours for the sd888 and 10.25 for the Exynos, but no idea how legit it was (was in Chinese).

So in all fairness, I did go back and look at the speed test video he did between the two and noticed a few things
Looks like different people kicking off the tests (based on the table they are on and skin colour).
SD is in aeroplane mode and Exynos is connected to cellular but no wifi/mobile data.
Resolutions are very slightly different, but both look like they are in FHD, but the SD has a slightly lower resolution as the navigation bar is different and makes the screen slightly smaller. QHD makes a minimal difference to battery life unless you're doing something GPU intensive.
In all fairness, I've seen mixed reviews of both chips, but no idea how people are setting up their phones (always do a clean install!!!). Have to wait and see how it performs when the phone arrives.
I am half tempted buying a mi 11 ultra but is it still relevant in 2023 ?
But my biggest concern is the dead wifi/Mobo since I already own a vanilla mi 11 that needed a board replacement

Very happy with mine.
Was tempted to upgrade to a Pixel 7 Pro or a Honor Magic 5 Pro (I care mostly about the camera) but honestly it's very hard to justify. Pictures remain best in class even vs the latest phones, the phone is really fast, screens good. It's really hard for me so far to get tempted by a new phone. And I do want to get tempted... Maybe will need a Mi 13 Ultra or a Pixel 8 to get me to upgrade (I tend to trust DXO and they haven't ranked the Mi 13 Pro very well. Seems the 11 Ultra still does a better job overall when it goes down to the camera)
So yeah if you find a good deal on one you won't be disappointed.

Thank you for the reply that's why I am tempted to buy it especially since it's cheaper now than most snapdragon 8 gen 2 flagships with basically same specs but as I said my biggest concern is the phone dying within few months as many reported " summer can reach 45° in my area"

I live in Hong Kong, which is pretty hot in summer, and never really had heat related issues (That being, said I don't play games, so I don't hit much on the processor)
For sure if you buy it, you shouldn't pay more than half of a curent flagship price (The phone is 2 generations behind, it should really be cheap)

I can back you on this, I'm also in Hong Kong, Mi 11 Ultra with Global rom MIUI 13 for dinner time already, and i do game, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Nikke. No heat problem and wifi issues. Great phone, especially at the current price point. Something to stand out from the all look the same phone lines out there.
I agree with all the feedback shared above. It is still a beast of a phone and runs multiple application parallely without any lag. Camera is great. If you are a AOSP fan, you have couple of good ROMs as well - PE+ and Project 404 roms.
Knock yourself out with a Mi 11 Ultra
I bought an used Mi 11 Ultra for 500 Euro a week ago and i rly like it ! I couldnt find a phone that i like more than this despite it being a 2 years old model.
It was with China ROM and 2 days ago i installed EliteRom free version (had to wait 1 week for bootloader to be unlocked). So far great experience.
I am planning to try some magisk modules i found here on the forum for underclocking for better battery life.
Hi guys can you give us info about battery performance with latest updates? Or comparisons with other phone you been using. Thanks
After a long time I try a Xiaomi device. As you can see on my posts or at my signature I use to own tons of devices. Pixels , Samsung's , and iPhones every year almost all of their flagships. Anyway I love the mi 11 ultra when released but it was way too expensive for a Chinese phone. I found one one month ago for around 300€ 256/12 white ceramic (CN version ) and give it a go . Phone is extremely snappy fast and reliable ( with Xiaomi eu Rom ) after few modification if I can say it with elite Rom and a few magisk modules like snapdragon 888 power efficient etc phone is great. Very good battery life I get easily around 7H sot with daily use ( no gaming but I use all social apps more than 7apps) phone never overheat like stock and I can say this is the fastest charging phone ever use. I can easily recommend this for a daily device in 2023. Special it the person who gonna buy it knows how to unlock bootloader and debloat this plus all the mods I mention above. Camera is also top notch that's why its still on top 15 phones of dxo ..I hope this helps cya

Could you mention any of the settings or steps you've done on that phone. I don't remember having a rooted cell phone. And I would like this equipment to last me several years, in addition to a screen duration of more than 4.5 hours that it is giving me
Thanks

Well there is plenty of videos out there how to unlock and root a Xiaomi in 2023. After that it's easy to flash twrp and any Rom u want.. I prefer elite Rom cause it's miui based and give some extra options like 60/90/120 hz.. u can easily put the phone to FHD+ AND 90hz and get even more juice. Out of this battery. Feel free to ask anything u want .

Well, I will follow the steps to root.
A question regarding that ROM, or the AOSP. Is it true that the MIUI camera doesn't work?
And yes, what I look for the most is battery performance
I don't try aosp but on this Rom miui camera is working great. . Follow the magisk modules as well I post on another thread I see u saw it .
