i dont know if its only my eyes or there are actual changes in the design and color of the global version, i have the tencent and i am pretty sure its different than what the reviewers have now after the global release. and its not just lighting condition, it feels like the metal part under the cooler thing is glass now with rainbow lines all over it !
DAMN I AM DIGGING IT
please take a look at the photos attached
Actually nothing changed here... The ROG Phone 2 global is exactly look like they appeared in ROG 2 announcement in July. The different is they have a Chinese edition in colaboration with a giant game publisher, Tencent with affordable price for a lower storage option, fewer LTE bands, and different back panel material.

Yes the venting is glass on Classic, metal on tencent 128G.
Said this on Asus China website
It's weird that they made the cheap Tencent version look more premium
Tencent version only comes with following specs
RAM: 8GB
Storage: 128GB
Charger: 18w
Aero Cooler 2: No
Box: 4 corners
While Global version has got
RAM: 12GB
Storage: 512GB or 1TB
Charger: 30W
Aero Cooler 2: Yes
Box: Six corner
So there is quite a difference there.

I doubt it's tencent. Since I cannot find Asus stating tencent comes with 512GB. Then yours probably is modified and not official tencent. Since even other sites are stating there's only one tencent which is only 128GB and 8GB RAM
Since there is tencent versions being sold as modified with WW ROM instead of CN. So then I'm also not surprised yours even got motherboard swap with one from global version so you think there is a tencent with 12GB RAM and 512GB, which is not true accordingly to Asus and results when googling. All the results states tencent only comes with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM.
Since I have not found any article saying that there is any tencent with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Then please give us proof, since like I have said before when googling it up only gives result of tencent with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage as result but no tencent version with 12GB and 512GB. So I still doubt that there is any tencent with that hardware.

Thats not correct. Mine supports VoLTE in Europe, huge difference in the voice quality plus you keep the 4g on so net is way faster. Its only in USA it doesn't seem to work (because they are special as we all know, Murika F** yeah hahaha).

Hi, I have bought a huawei p20 pro with 8gb of ram and 128gb of storage. I have never seen the likes of it but it is a chinese version. I thought it was not original at first, but i checked the serial number on Huawei's site and it is original! Now i want to debrand it as i need to install the EU firmware. Will this decrease the 8gb of ram to 6gb?

Since when Software changes effect the Hardware, that if you use some other software it will decrease or increase your Hardware capabilities? So answer is no it won't effect any Hardware.

Hilarious... well as i recall since i would be changing my kernel, doesn't the allowed size of ram decrease? I had an xperia x8 back in the day and with a particular kernel, I had gained more ram!
Maybe it's a new model or a fake, I just got a second hand Chinese version and it is called CLT-AL00 not CLT-L00. And it comes with the standard 6gb of ram.
Download antutu benchmark and see if it recognise your model.
Secondary can you please point me in the right direction for rebranding the phone so it becomes an European version?
Thanks
No it is no fake. When the p20 pro got released i read a review with official huawei statment about the 8gb model. If i find it again i will post it here. It was a special edition like the rs porsche etc.

Hi everybody, I'm selling my Zenfone 6z to buy a new phone i love the rog phone 2 also if it has not a SD slot (I use SD to keep documents when I change phone). My question is: is it worth to buy a 899 Euro phone with snapdragon 855+ while next April there will be a lot of new snapdragon 865 phones even cheaper (redmi, realme, etc)?
Second question do both USB type c port support otg?

Well, thank you for your answer, my only doubt about redmi and realme, also oppo, is the software. If I'll buy one of them, the redmi k30 pro is interesting, I change the software for sure, I prefer android stock roms.

As the collegue above said, is so, so worthy if you buy the 430€ tencent version (now it's around 450€ normally). It's an amazing phone for daily use. Just the camera is an 8.5/10 with A10 (better than A9), but with GCam the results are amazing enough. Buy it!! I bought it like some weeks ago

SD 865 is now the standard.

If the heavy weight, lack of 5g, no IR blaster or SD card and average camera aren't a problem for you then this is an excellent all round phone.

Hi all,
I'm trying to find out if there is a performance difference when it comes to storage between the 128gb and higher spec ultras. As I understand it, bigger SSD devices are generally faster.
I ran benchmark against a 128gb model (linked below.) Can someone with a 256 or 512 model post their results?
many thanks in advance!
My Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (SDM888) scored 27292 in the PCMark Storage 2.0 Android benchmark test. http://bit.ly/pcmark-android
Passmark storage test was around 78,000 I believe.
256GB Exynos model (SM-G998B) so maybe not comparable, but: I got PC Mark 2.0 storage test = 30329.

This used to be the case for SDDs many moons ago (I haven't checked lately TBH). I would not be surprised to find better performance in higher capacity, I think it mostly has to do with optimized cell access.
Thanks for the feedback y'all! Looking around today I can only find 512GB international models so this may be a moot point.
I had a 512GB ordered from Samsung a few weeks ago when you could still get them on their website, but I cancelled the order thinking the price might come down when the S22 is announced. Just couldn't justify paying full price for last years tech.
T-Mobile still wants $1200 for a 128gb model, so I'm thinking I'll just wait for the 22.
The 22 looks to be an evolutionary upgrade with not much new over the S21 Ultra....smart money is on the discounted S21 since they appear to be virtually the same minus an S pen

I would purchase the S21 Ultra for a few reasons. First being Android 12 is a disaster, it's still nowhere near stable. The new Exynos SoC for the S22 is having serious production issues, only a handful of chipsets are usable from an entire wafer. The S22 Ultra will cost more money but few feature upgrades. The S-Pen (which works on an S21), a bit of a camera tweek, faster charging and new colors. Samsung needs help, it's no longer a great value.

Well I found one place selling the US 512GB version for $1700 on ebay, but that's the cheapest I could find. Might have to just cave in and get the 128GB from TMO for $1200.
More googling revealed that the RAM in the 16GB model is probably also faster.
"At 6,400 megabits per second (Mb/s), the new LPDDR5 is about 16 percent faster than the 12Gb LPDDR5 (5,500Mb/s) found in most of today’s flagship mobile devices. When made into a 16GB package, the LPDDR5 can transfer about 10 5GB-sized full-HD movies, or 51.2GB of data, in one second."
From: https://news.samsung.com/global/sam...dr5-dram-at-worlds-largest-semiconductor-line
The test is probably not reliable then.
I redid the passmark test and here's what I got for disk and memory on the 128GB:
Disk: 74,902
Memory: 31,918

Oh wow! that's a sizeable difference!
The OP 10 Pro is the second time OP has truly disappointed me. The phone is only available with 128GB in the US. For a "pro" model, this is a joke. The $900 price puts it right at a PIxel 6 Pro and S22+ price. There is 0 reason to get the OnePlus vs those two, considering both have substantially better cameras, more support for accessories, and much bigger communities on XDA.
My most recent OP was the 9 (non-pro). I've been very disappointed with the cameras, as even an old Pixel 3 I have takes better pics in most conditions. I replaced it about a month ago with a Korean s20 Ultra (so I can root), and I'm never going back. Much better camera, so many case options, and even though the processor is an older model, it feels just as fast. Went with the 20 vs 21 for sdcard support, and having an extra 512gb for $60 is great. I have all my pics and vids ever on the phone. All OSM for US, Canada, and Mexico, tons of music on the phone for flying (which I do a lot).
I've been a long time OP supporter, right from the OP1, and have had every phone except the OP2. They seemed to lose their way with the 7 (I had to get a chinese model since I didn't want the pro), and have been on a decline ever since, charging more but not offering anything better except the new snapdragon processor.
Sorry for the rant. I'm sure the 10 pro will be a decent phone. Right on par with the 9 pro, which was a decent phone. I'm just not excited about OP releases any more, when I used to be online hitting refresh for the sale to open.
Doesn't help that Jerryrig snapped the phone in half very easily. Be careful, these look fragile.
No SD card slot regardless of the internal memory capacity is a severe handicap. Even 500gb internal memory isn't enough let alone 128gb without an SD card. Having a OS drive and data drive(s) is the best way to run any PC or smartphone.
Samsung has also dropped the Note and the ball on all their current Flagships.
They screwed their loyal power users Apple bad.
Google Adroid emulated Apple by adopting cpu cycling sucking, user unfriendly scoped storage.
Android 11 and up suck Apple bad now.
I have 2 N10+'s, the second new one was bought 5 months ago. One is running on 9, the newer one on 10.
Whatever. I'm good for a couple years.
OEM new device releases are always a rollercoaster
I just ordered the Global black 128gb 10 Pro to take it for a spin....
No dual-sim USA. No 256gb USA. Both deal-breakers for me.
I spoke with my money when I canceled and bought a pixel 6 pro instead.

Oneplus are a bunch of turds now.

Pretty much this - I can't see a single advantage the OP10Pro has over the Pixel 6 Pro or s22 + or ultra. Granted, the sammy is a little more expensive.
I got the OP 10 Pro and I don't like the design after seeing it with my naked eyes and I'm gonna return this and get an S22 Plus!
In the EU we have 12gb ram 256gb

True True, I picked up my copy of the OP 10PRO 12/256 today.
Moving from OP6 makes a difference

AH, yeah! Fromt the 6 is quite a big move indeed!
I came from the 8Pro, not a crazy difference, but with the trade-in I got just a little less of what I paid for at last year's Amazon Black Friday
I don't understand why anyone would buy this phone. Performance is the same or worse than a 9 Pro depending on what you are doing, has less storage and ram, is more fragile, and the camera system overall is worse. This phone is a flop.
Another interesting fact is that our local amazon has gone down in price. For the first two days it was 1029Euro, then they lowered the price by 6% to 964Euro.
Not much, but still something. Plus headphones (OnePlus Buds Pro) on sale in preorder and the price becomes bearable
I can test it for one day and here are few things...
80W and 65W are almost the same
Stereo speaker downgrade
With 50/50 mobile/wifi up to 5h SOT
No OxygenOS (its more ColorOS with Oxygen skin)
Front camera is much better
Yes, no IP68

Hey,
You got the 10.. I just received mine today, good t see you.
Re: the OP.... Soon as there's some good pixel ROMs the photos back storage will be unlimited, 128GB for the most part is more than enough, at the end of the day it's a phone, would be nice to have more but not the end of the world.
Regarding the RAM, I'm not too upset by it.. should use less battery being 8 and not 12.. I don't think that there will be a performance hit.
Rest of the hardware is the same so I'm happy with it.
Guess if you really need 12 and 256 plus then I think your only option would be to buy direct.
