USB-OTG issue - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

A few days ago, when I connect any USB key to the S10 via OTG connector, a strange thing happens: copying one or more folders containing different files inside it (at least 100 Mb of photos or music) or doing cut-paste from usb to S10 or from S10 to USB key, Well ..when the copy is over and reaches 100%, instead of disappearing the popup message, it remains active with a copy in progress (100% percentage) and does not end, it remains open. If I press cancel to make the current copy message disappear, the process ends and the copy was performed correctly: that is, the message that the copy is in progress is false, the copy as displayed the percentage has reached 100% and then finished. Before it did not ..... Maybe is a bug introduced with the last sw update? For those with S10, could you please do this simple test? Copy a folder with a few hundred Mb of photos or music from s10 to usb or from usb to S10 via OTG. I enclose some screenshots ...
N.B. in practice S10 says that the copy is in progress when in reality it is finished, copying 1-2 individual files instead everything is ok.
Test performed using both the phone memory and the Samsung 32gb evo SD.
I have already tried to clear the cache under Applications-Android System-memory: nothing changes

Nobody has tried, but the issue was everyone: a bug introduced with the update of the end of August ...... I just updated the new FW (without restoring the factory settings) and the issue is solved !

Kaiser died while deleting file from SD card

Good day forum,
I would really appreciate your help on this:
This afternoon I deleted a file from the Kaiser's Micro SD card (a jpeg picture, but a pretty large one).
While deleting you clould see the "working" symbol in the middle of the screen until the symbol froze. I left the unit alone for about five minutes (way enough time to delete a file......) and made a soft reset since the Kaiser would not react any more.
Since then the unit behaves very strange: after starting you can hear the vibrating alarm for a second and the screen shows "smart mobility". This screen stays up for about 15 seconds but the display of the SW version etc. will not show up any more. The units shuts itself down and repeats the same procedure over and over again.
I check the forum, to no avail. Yes, a hard reset is still possible and was performed twice, no success.
Can anyone give me a clue what is wrong. My Kaiser is a German model with original ROM, nothing changed from the original. Reflashing the unit by myself is not possible since there is no German Kaiser ROM to download. And it might not cure the problem.
Thank you all
GZ
Try to pull out the microSD...
I had a similar issue deleting alot of files with pocket mechanic. Left it on for a few minutes, just to realize that it died on me. Apparently, with some trouble shooting steps, i was able to resolve the issue. Make sure your phone is connected to a external power supply(not the computers). I found out that the battery i had was on a critical low, everytime i boot it up it would just reach the smart mobility screen and just turn off. (which was strange because i had 70% battery life before i deleted the files) Eventually, i figured out the battery was drained. I immediately plugged it into an external adapter(using pc's wasnt enough power) and managed to get into the today screen. I let it charge a bit and everything was resolved. Hope this helps! goodluck
All,
connecting the Kaiser with it's original Power adapter (5V, 1A) made no difference. The unit will not even go in charge mode, it keeps rebooting every 15 seconds. I left it like this for 30 minutes and gave up.
Is there anybody who can tell me how a business critical device like this can die while deleting a standard file from the SD card in such a manner that I have to turn it in for repair (propably gone for weeks)? What did I do wrong?
If this is a standard on these type of devices I have to rethink my decision. I was facing the same issue with a Sony Ericsson K800i which died during transfer of a file via Bluetooth. Had to send it in for repair (2,5 weeks gone), but SE admitted that it was an OS bug and released a new FW available for download 1 month later.
I can still hard reset the TyTN and I can get into bootloader mode while pressig the camera button during startup, but I am missing the original German ROM to reflash the unit.
Any help out there?
Best regards

Missing Internal Storage

Diamond Missing internal storage
I have discovered the same issue of the Internal storage missing, I have tried flashing it with the latest and greatest firmware and nothing appears to bring it back. It just does not show up when the phone and when I go to memory it just says that the Internal Storage card is not installed.
Any help would be fantastic.

Hi SurfHost,
The storage is missing even when the phone is unplugged from the PC,
It is a real concern, when I first noticed is when I went to play music while I was driving and the phone could not find the music that was stored on the internal storage. mmmm
I am concerned its buggered.
If you run some Programms you cant acess your internal storage. (had the same problem with tomtom for a while).
HI i have the same problem. with my orange diamond. secound phone to do this.
orange giving my problems with changing the phone again.
i spoke to htc direct and they were very helpful. after a long phone chat with there engineer he agreed the phone is faulty.
they have had cases were a double hard reset somtimes brings the phone back in line. but in my case it didnt work.
did you connect your phone to your car stereo? and then it became faulty?
Maybe theres somthing in these readers which trips the phones up?
The Internal Storage only disappears when you set to use it as a high speed mass storage device and not an active sync device.
Try changing the usage over and see if it comes back.

Try to read before you post, and welcome btw
Hi dazkent,
How do I do a double hard reset?
I am willing to try anything at this stage.
Besides from it losing most of its memory, I still love this phone, but not having the space for Mp3s or TomTom apps its just a simple phone.
Looking forward to some help
Thanks everyone

Never heard of anything called 'double hard reset'. I'd suggest performing 'ordinary' hard reset, here is the how to:
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and
ENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until you see the message on the screen (about all the personal data being deleted)
4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the
VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other
button to cancel the reset.
If that doesn't help I'd try to put newer ROM in if I were you.

If you had come to this stage . . . .
I suggest that you goto: Start > Setting > System > Clear Storge > in the drop down panel select "Format InternalStorage Only", see whether is works . . .
You are the one who decide, is you Diamond . . .
I would be happy to format the internal storage if it was seen by the OS, it just does not show up. I will try the hard reset now and see what that gives me. Thanks everyone for your help so far.
HI
Double hard reset. was sugested by the engineer at htc. when trying to solve this issue.
basiclly perform hard reset and as soon as reboot finish perform again.
It didnt fix mine and the htc engineer said my phone was faulty.
After 6 hours back and forth on the phone to orange.
Orange finally replaced my phone for the 3rd time for this fault. had it a week now and current phone seems to be holding out fine. although now i have a battery drain issue with this one!
My Diamond loses Internal Storage when connected to the PC as a USB disk - as expected.
Sometimes it does not regain the Internal Storage when unplugging it from the PC. My assumption (not yet tested) is that this tends to happen when the File Explorer is open on the Diamond when disconnecting.
Completely powering off+on the Diamond (not just Standby) solved these incidents for me every time so far....never needed to hard-reset.
I have exactly the same fault.
My internal storage will return if I do a hard reset, but that's a pain to set up my device from scratch everytime.
After using it for a day or so (using Active Sync at work and mass storage at home), it will lose the ability to 'see' the internal storage.. either via mass storage or Active synch connection, although plugged in as a mass storage device the PC can still see and use it as normal, just active synch or the phone itself can't see it.
I'm not so sure that this is a hardware issue, I think the phone still thinks it's connected via 'normal' usb.
Any ideas, I'm on Rom 1.93 and the issue is still occurring. It's doing my nut in!
The best way it's to use linux...
Just connect the phone to the pc(with linux), chose the disk option on the phone.
Then on the pc go to the partition manager and on the right top side chose the phone memory.Chose and eliminate that partion and after that just create a new one. This not very complete any doubt's just post...
I have done this one Ubuntu, the 8.10 version, with the disk running, not instaled on the pc.
if you are a sprint user this is the solution http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloa...id=148&act=all i have the same problem but im not sprint
I had this problem once also. Diamond could not see internal storage.
I opened file explorer and saw that i had
Internal Storage
and
Internal Storage2
Internal Storage did not contain anything though
What i did is rm the Internal Storage folder and Soft Reset.
Everything back to normal...
actually while you enter the hardreset menu there are two options, choose the one that says hard reset along with formatting internal storage(moviNAND or somthing).
No Internal Storage Install
My Diamond (P3700) have the same problem.
I tried use hotfix here http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=148&act=sd&cat=all
but it's said : ''Please use the correct device to install this Hotfix Program!"

Yo bro, i encountered this problem before. no worries.
all u need to do is:-
1) connect your diamond to ur pc.
2) format your internal memory there.
3) flash your phone again.
4) you will have your internal memory back again.
Note: dun try to connect your phone to your car audio again.

My device won't hard reset

I have had problems in the last few weeks with my micro sd. I posted in 'android general' about this, I want to switch back to the normal partitions. In the past, on XDA I had found a 'fix' that would switch the mounting of microsd and local mass storage, making the microsd the main partition (to the eye of the device, the microsd would become the internal memory, and apps would be installed there automatically).
Anyway, never installed any rom on my phone, only the root. I tried a hard reset today....I went to the configuration (language and account setup) now the phone shows a black screen, you can see (and interact with) only the status bar. A popup telling me about an update came up, I did the update (67 MB), reboot, and then the message: couldn't update the device, try connect to Kies.
Screen still black with only the notification bar (that works, wifi gps buttons etc,). I could go into the options, and see that the microsd is still seen as main memory (switched).
Basically I have two questions:
- why didn't the hard reset work?
- how do I switch microsd and internal memory? I tried looking for the file but I can't remember which one I did edit
And third:
- how do I get out of this ? the only reason why I did the hard reset (microsd not working, switching microsd-internal memory) is still there, so how to say, I in an even worse situation now.
Ok, switched off, removed the microsd. Now it won't boot. Stays stuck on 'SAMSUNG' logo glowing. I guess it doesn't find the files he put on the microsd. But anyway, I thought the stock rom for the hard reset was always stored in the (real) internal memory (2GB big), not the 12GB one (that he can't find because it's called as a microsd partition now...)
this looks like a problem.

htc one factory reset not working

Hello,
I have a serious problem. Last friday, I receive a brand new HTC ONE, free of carrier, as I live in Nigeria. I put my sim card inside, I sync with google, I personalize with music, photos, msg... and then I make a save on the computer (macbook pro); later on the day, I change some widgets, and few things (when I transfer the music, one time out of two, HTC sync Manager says the device is not connected, whereas it is of course.)
Next morning I want to listen to the music, as it is one of the assets of the device. The music is played for 10 sec, and then stops. I think there is a minor problem, I decide to reboot.
-first surprise, the device starts on the configuration saved on the computer, and not on the configuration of the reboot.
-then I try a factory reset, via the android menu. the device goes into the reset mode, with the two green arrows, turning in the same way, indicating that the reset is being done. But, after one minute or so, a red triangle with an exclamation point replaces the two green arrows.
Then, the device comes back to the saved configuration of the computer.
-I try to perfrom a factory reset, hard reset from the HTC menu with PWR and - button of the unit. but it is the same result as the attempt with the android menu, it boots on the saved configuration.
-I try to download the update android 4.3 and HTC sense 5.5 from HTC servers but once downloaded, the device says the update is corruted and will not install it.
It is a big problem to me because bewteen the moment of the save and the moment I reboot the device, willingly or due to a loss of battery, every piece of content I would create, receive, or add, like music, photo, videos, emails, txt msg... would disapear.
I've tryed to make another save on the computer, but HTC sync manager keeps telling me there is no save done. At the bottom right corner, there is the sync button, and the free space on the device. When I transfer something on the device, even if it is 10 GB of data, the free space is not changing. It stays around 24.58 GB...
I don't know what to do, but I love this phone, and I want it to work properly. If I need to install something, please let me know, but I don't know the basics, like installing custom roms or something else.

HTC Sync manager is crap .. uninstall it but leave the drivers installed
then follow this >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260376
now you can take complete control of your phone
thank you for replying in such a short notice, considering the period.
Now, I've looked at your post, and I've tried to find where to download hassoon 2000 toolkit, but it seems so far that every link is rederecting to the link provided in your tutorial, but unfortunatly, in that tutorial there is no link given to download the software.
Do you know where I can?

ok I've managed to get through the video despite the toolkit from squabbi and the one from hasoon2000 are not the same. But I'm blocked to the "flash unlock token" step. I've got the token, the ....code.bin, but I don't know where to put it. In the video, the user puts it in the "data" files but as his file called "data" comes with the AT&T driver or something, I'm lost. I don't where to put the unlocking key

(2 issues) Can't increase volume from mixer paths file (not enough space)/charge slow

Hello.
I wanted help with 2 issues I was having.
first of all, I have Android Marshmallow 6.0.1;
I was rooting my phone and while my phone was attached to the PC via USB cable, the phone started acting rapidly getting disconnected/connected off the PC. A little bit of twisting the wire / changing PC port fixed that issue. I went on and rooted my phone.
But after finishing all of it, my USB cable worked fine with the charger with the phone but instead, it was charging slowly instead of fast charge.
I tried different chargers, different Motorola chargers and such. All showed 'Charging Slowly'. Not sure what might be the issue here, hoping its not an hardware issue since the phone IS charging but no fast charge.
Second issue, the reason I was rooting was to edit my Headphone volume value through mixer_paths file but whenever I saved that file, (was using ES Explorer) I kept getting a 'No Enough Space' error. I tried tinkering with r/w settings in ES explorer, no success. Same error.
Tried different Kernels such as 'Elementalx', 'Despair' or 'Hellscore' kernel but it did not work. Same error of 'No Enough Space'.
I checked, I had plenty of space. Tried different applications for checking space but all showed no issue.
That's all, if you could help me with at least one of these issues,
Thanks in advance.
For increased sound, I've never used the mixer_paths method because I didn't notice near as much change as when I flashed V4A from @guitardedhero and used extra-loud set to extreme. Just a suggestion, you could also try FX Explorer with root addon or another root explorer. About extra space thing try deleting PinyinIME and then retrying.

The charging vs charging slowly is referring to whether your phone is connected with an actual wall charger vs connected to a computer. It can also say it if the battery isn't very low and it's just topping it off from a wall charger. (it'll never say "charging fast" or anything like that).
For the not enough space error that is due to Stock marshmallow completely filling the /system partition with data. Chainfire has a post on this but it boils down to the fact that when most apps edit a /system file they make a copy then the copy is edited and then pasted in place of the original file but since there's 0 blank space to work with it'll almost always fail. A way to solve this would be deleting some unused system apps, I usually do Google Sheets or News and weather app but you'd probably be safe deleting some of the international keyboard language APKs. You can either go in to /system/app and delete the folders for the apps there or use a utility like titanium backup to delete them. (Don't backup system files using titanium backup because it will almost always restore them wrong). Deleting that will let you edit /system files normally.
An alternative since you were talking about headphone volume and custom kernels though is using something like Kernel Adiutor which used with the kernels you listed actually have a sound mod built into them which Kernel Adiutor can use to increase/decrease the volume of the headset port and internal mics and speakers.
