Hi,
Just ordered k20 pro, believe will arrive tomorrow (Using poco now)
I wonder is there a kernel that actually increase the speed of the pop up camera? So face unlock work faster? Hahaha

Face unlock is totally unnecessary or maybe I should say involves extra steps on this phone.
1) Its software based so can be unlocked with facial similarities.
2) you have to actually turn on the device & swipe up to activate the pop-up.
Thus fingerprint is much faster & efficient to use as it's already always on

1) Yes and fingerprint while having way less chance of that is prone to similarities as well
2) That is bad, in my opinion it should automatically pop up when activated via button on the side or tapping on a notification on the lockscreen
About faster and more efficient... The fingerprint scanner is too low to be comfortable and i prefer to press the button on the side and comfortably swipe up than try to reach the fingerprint sensor.
I really wish that whole under screen sensors while cool concept would move back to what Sony did with fingerprint sensor on the side so you unlock when you just grab the phone.
think what would happen, if you where to press a button accidentally and the cam popped up in your pocket...

Hi devs!
Since i have this phone iam searching the function for double-tap to wake-up feature.
Esp, cause the previous models had this feature.
I've been through a few launchers and a few apps, but it seems with a fingerprint-sensor this feature has become unavailable?
Any people here managed to double-tap to wake-up their device?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry to say but that incredibly useful feature is missing from the XZ1c. It's not just a software thing, I believe it's missing at a hardware level. So either the screen is different or the kernel doesn't support it.
Wave up is a way of opening and closing the screen and has had some good reviews from XDA members.
Thanks for your reply.
Let's see if i can get used to this and finetune it a little.

I'm giving a shot myself with this app... It seems working great... Only doubt of course is the battery draining... Let's see after a few days of testing...
P. S. So Wave Up is for the waving hands thing... What about double tap to wake?

Double tap to wake likely needs lower level support that isn't possible with a mere app.
BTW, I've been using the Wave Up app for months, did not notice any battery drain.
I personally love the wake screen after removing from pocket feature, it works like a charm and so handy to have. I now wonder how I lived for so long without it.
Also, you don't need to actually wave your whole hand, just flick a finger 2 or 3 times over the sensor area and boom. Although I'd still prefer DTTW, it's a great compromise.

Yeah, I saw WaveUp recommended on XDA too and used it after trying and disliking Gravity Screen. It's been fantastic, and I actually don't notice a lot of battery drain from it either. I sometimes end up double-tapping the proximity sensor. That generally works pretty well. Sometimes even better than waving.
Just a little update about WaveUp.
Definitely, a must have for XZ1 Compact owners. ?????????????????. After a few days of testing I can confirm it has almost zero impact to battery (I can't notice any difference, in fact it doesnt even shown on Setting's Battery usage) but once u use it... U can't stay without it anymore!
I really i don't understand why Sony didn't include this functionality out of the box...
I am using Gravity Screen to wake my phone using the proximity sensor, but I noticed it keeps the sensor ON all the time even when the phone is locked. I think this is what WaveUp do as well. I'm kind of concerned with the sensor being awake all the time that it might affect the lifespan of the sensor and get damaged fast. I hope SONY put back that double tap to wake.
Hello, is there any app that turn on display when new notification is arriving?
WaveUp is really good!
Thanks to everybody for the suggestion!

Might be a late reply, but an app called Glimpse Notifications does exactly what you want.
Update: WaveUp works, but can be annoying when cleaning the screen.

I am using "Glimpse Notification"
They do it on purpose, they always take something away and then put it back in the next model. But the next model will miss a different detail, and so on ...
Hi there,
I've found this easy tweak to enable double tap to wake on Huawei/Honor devices.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/general/enable-double-tap-to-wake-t3312676
I loved this feature on my old G4, as it was not needed to pick up the phone from a desk, etc. Unfortunately, it seems Huawei does not give a f...k and adds and removes it randomly from its products lineup depending on the weather I guess.
The above instructions are really simple on a ROOTED device. Would any candid soul that already has a rooted mate 10, try to see if the feature is at least available in the system file? (super simple to do with a root explorer). My phone is not rooted, as I'd not like to void the warranty in case I return it since I'm not fully happy so far with this and other Huawei SW neglicencies.
Cheers.

You mean, the option shows up in the accessibility menu, but not possible to activate right?. Shame on Huawei.
WHICH FIRMWARE ARE YOU ON?. I'm on 142 on a EU hardware.
BTW, any other reliable 3rd party up or alternative to wake up the phone without picking it up or using the power button?

I'm on B145.
They include a lot of "features" for other Huawei phones, as they seem to use the same sources when they build. Many are non-functioning though.
Face unlock with pick-up to turn on screen works fine. Or just fp reader on the back
But it still requires lifting the phone or putting your finger on the back.

Right. What a waste of such a great HW with such a poor software, lack of basic premium (?) features on a high end device.
Thanks anyway mate!

Am sure you are aware kernel must support double tap to wake in order for this switch to work, if u guys have a kernel that supports this... It will work else no way on earth that's happening
BTW, tried a few of those 3rd party apps where I managed to wake the phone up via the IR sensor from the AOD screen. But, this only works for a minute or so, if the AOD is on for longer, IR cannot wake it up.
Looks as if the app is put in a deep state or the sensor not accessible by it once the phone enters a deeper stand by (?).
All power saving crap option disabled. Wrote the developer but no response.
You guys, since you rooted it, would you know if the issue is still present when you freeze power genius via Titanium perhaps?
https://openkirin.net/ the first asop rom is here! i just installed it and seems very fast , you need the stock recovery and an unlocked bootloader. uses the emui camera so will still take great photos.
edit: i can not make or receive calls so far. maybe i am doing something wrong. will play around some more and see if there is a fix.

Thanks for bringing this out , would like to try it , but first I need to make sure I can be able to make and receive calls !
would you mind keeping us updated with your discoveries using the rom please ?
The rom is blazing fast, no issue so far but i'll keep on testing it for a while. I have no problem with callings, make sure that you flash the correct recovery_ramdis.img for your model. I also got the latest magisk installed no problem. My only concerns would be no more AI camera, and no 3D face ID.
Update:
Some stuffs I have notice:
-USB-C earbuds doesn't work, USB-C adapter + normal earbuds works.
-The phone run a bit warmer than stock.
-It seems like the auto brightness sucks, it almost always put the phone at full brightness. I toned it down manually and the phone seems to cool off a bit.
-Safety net passed but google pay still doesn't work.
-No stereo speakers.
-Fingerprint sensor works but no indicator on screen of where to place the finger.
-No idea how to change screen resolution
Updated one day battery from 9am to 10:30pm.

Any chance you can share the file ( if you have it ) to flash the stock recovery , for a single sim global mate 20 pro ( LYA-L09 ) ?
I've been "google browsing" without luck !
edit : nevermind , I managed to extract it from a full update (.228)
Gonna try the ROM now
Cheers !
After some reboot and adjust, the phone run alot cooler now as close as stock I would say. The battery is not as good as stock because it is running at 2k compare to 1080p like I normally use on stock and there is no option to change resolution natively. I wish we have official support for this rom soon.
Try to install gcam if it's work?
Why are there no screenshots / videos / etc. of the OS on the webpage?

Hello, I just want to know if mate 20 pro will be officially supported for this rom. I love this rom, it is so fast and smooth with decent battery life.
Thank you!
ROM is amazing so far. Calls work and other than the fingerprint scanner, everything works great.

Fingerprint actually works, just no indicator on screen of where to place it. U have to max ur brightness for the fingerprint sensor to pick it up tho. So not really as imposible to implement as 3d facial.
Great ROM , superfast , runs really nice and smooth in my mate 20 pro (hardware)
I hope the developer post it here at xda , so we can all make it better together ( I mean with feedback , findings , tips , etc )

my son was messing around with my phone trying to unlock it - he put his forearm over the screen and hey presto - it unlocked after about 2 trys. He repeated this several times so its clearly not a one off. I also unlocked with my upper arm after about 8 tries. try it yourself (doesn't work on hairy part of your arms)..
Video of it happening
Interesting, Tried it 10 Times myself but the Phone doesn't even try to recognise my arm.

Please update the thread title. It is incorrect and misleading, as it currently is.
I thought it was common knowledge your offspring have the same pattern on their forearms as you do on your thumb.
Seriously though, probably your fingers were dirty and you may have left an imprint over the sensor. Not surprised since they say these sensors aren't as secure.

I'm planning to buy Pixel 4 xl
and I knew that Project Soli won't be available in my country (Lebanon, but other countries as well),
so I'm concerned about buying the phone and discovering other features that won't work because of my region
have anyone found any other thing disabled?
and does the disabling of motion sensor affect the face recognition unlock?
thanks for your time
It won't affect the face unlock, only 2 things are disabled.

From what I've read, motion sense is sometimes used to wake the IR camera on the phone as your hand approaches the device making the process slightly faster. Obviously, face unlock would still work but it will be slightly slower if Motion Sense is disabled.
