If I unlock my XL when I get it will it prevent Google Pay from working?
I thought Google deemed an unlocked phone as being insecure.
Assuming by unlock, you mean unlocking the bootloader, yes, using stock software, it will prevent you from using google pay as long as the bootloader is unlocked.

Works fine for me with magisk and the tick checked under magisk hide for gpay. Your rom may be causing issues if you have one.

I will try again I did Mark it as hide in magisk, however when I disabled the permissions when they popped back up I think I hit allow. That may be the issue. I just used the stock room with root

why did you disallow any permissions? everything gets setup as it would normally, just with gpay checked in magisk hide.

Can anyone provide the new .apk with the root check removed again.

More importantly.. anyone worked out how to use it on tablet?
I'm on M3 rooted with Despair kernel.
Got Android pay update and tried to activate it by adding a credit card information. It bailed out saying that my phone can't be trusted, I figured out that's because of root.
I tried to unroot in SuperSu. First by disabling Enable Superuser root button, second by Full unroot. Both methods didn't work, Android pay still couldn't be activated.
I then tried to format and flash boot, system, recovery MPA44I images. I started to get a RED message your phone can't be trusted on boot. Android pay still couldn't be activated. NOTE: I didn't erase data partition.
I don't want to do a full factory reset.
What are my options now ?

Go to the Android Pay app info, and uninstall updates. This will roll it back into Google Wallet. You should also go and uninstall the new wallet app if you have it so as to avoid confusion.
After that, I had to find an APK site that could update my wallet app back up to Version 9.0. I've since disabled auto-updates to the Google Wallet app until I see some signs of support for root.

Is that confirmed? There are lots of topics here that say that any root kills Android Pay but they are several months old.
I've rooted my phone using the latest Sunshine yesterday. I can live without Android Pay but if turning off root gets it back I'll take it.

OK, I highly doubt that. Cyanogen as I understand it isn't CTS compliant. Therefore, it couldn't work rooted or not. When I turn off Root I can pass a safetynet check. That implies that it SHOULD work with root turned off but it's not guaranteed to function that way. I'll need to check it at a cash register.

When you try it post back, I'm curious and then we'd both know.
Disabling root stopped working a few updates ago. Even on the stock rom. Unlike other companies, who might eventually get to the point where patching workarounds isn't worth it to them, Google seems pretty dedicated to the cat and mouse game.
Also, it is possible for you to add a card and then for you not to be able to use it when you try to pay for something. So for all those who think "I can add a card! Success!", you might want to hold off on the celebrations for a bit.
Will the Xposed module that hides root from apps work (root cloak or something)?

That workaround was done using systemless superSU on android 6.0.1. I'm hoping that it will work for us, but I'm not optimistic. Even if it does, I give it a month max before it stops working.

Apart from root, there are also other things that trigger SafetyNet. Most common suspects:
Bootloader needs to be locked or you'll need something that masks/doesn't report the bootloader state. Some custom kernels do this.
SELinux need to be enforcing.
Thanks, is it possible to lock the bootloader again?

The OnePlus Two does not report bootloader lock status to SafetyNet so it does not matter if it is unlocked.
I would try reflashing the rom and making sure it is not rooted. If you want root you will want to flash Magisk via TWRP.

Hi,
I'm running stock ROM with TWRP recovery.
I've managed to successfully root my Note with Magisk.
Somehow I noticed that my device loses root after a reboot and sometimes even randomly. When I go into the custom recovery and flash Magisk 14 or 14.3 everything works fine for while, till it loses root again.
Could someone shed some light on my issue, please?
Thanks in advance.
I've also themed Magisk Manager with Substratum could that be the issue?
I'm also running stock rom, losing magisk root from time to time.
When root is lost, I'm getting a notification that "new magisk V14 is available.
Reinstalling with TWRP only to lose it again a day or two later.
You all need to change your settings in magisk manager. I had the same problem. Change your update channel to Beta. This will keep magisk 14.3 installed once you flash it in recovery after setting this. :highfive:
Are you using the hide root feature?
If so then that is probably your issue.

Try closing those apps first, I think it goes ok as long you don't start the apps yourself because most off the apps checks root at startup, but I can't guarantee you anything
Something weird has happened... I've not actually changed anything but now I tend to lose root immediately after rebooting.
I'm a technical person so whilst I say nothing has changed, I know that it probably has and I just can't remember.
I need Hide, so disabling that is not an option... I have no idea where to even start debugging this
