Brand-new to Tasker, having difficulty figuring out what profile to choose when I plug into desktop mode. Does Tasker think it's a USB connection? Or a desktop dock? Something else? On what basis? Thanks.

Apparently to get to desktop mode on your device: "To use Desktop mode, simply connect your phone to an external display with a HDMI to USB-C cable"
Tasker doesn't have a built in context for sensing a monitor connection. I would look to see if this is switched through a custom setting on your device. Check here

Basically, I want to be able to remotely control my phone form any networked pc in the house and only from pcs on the same network, which is why I want to know if its possible to do these two things:
1. Is there a way to connect into the phone and see it's screen as well as control it remotely? I know I can do the reverse where I can see my pc's screen and control them with my phone, is there any way to do it in reverse? And only make the connection work over LAN, not WAN?
2. Is there any way I can make my phone automatically turn WiFI on when I plug it into AC power to charge, and turn it off once it gets unplugged from AC power?
Thanks
SOTI has several versions
Try SOTI Pocket Controller-Pro @ http://www.soti.net/
SOTI can do both of those?
MyMobiler does this very well via Activesync. It's freeware so just Google it.
Through Activesync?
I want to be able to access it wirelessly though, not through a wired connection.
couldnt you use active sync via bluetooth? and what exactly are you trying to accomplish? there might be an easier way you havent thought of yet. share

SBSH's PhoneWeaver can do this. You can create a profile that is triggered by being connected to AC Power and that profile can include having WiFi turned on. After disconnection it would return to the default or scheduled profile which could have WiFi off.
Hi All,
I've recently bought a dock with power and usb port, but unfortunately and for some reason, my USB OTG cable doesn't work. Anyway since my dock will be connected to the PC, OTG might not be needed.
I need a program for windows to control my galaxy note through USB. I don't want to see the phone display on my computer, I want to use the laptop's mouse and keyboard to control the phone as if am connect through OTG. Ideas?
refer HERE
I have already searched the forum for a solution and I couldn't find one. VNC or screen cast are not what I am looking for. The idea here is to transfer control as if you're connected through OTG, without the need to stream the display to the PC...

dude, no offense, there are better ways and apps for the same thing, there's too much effort to go through with what you've posted.
but actually, I'm also curious as to the OP's question
http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/
Airdroid is pretty good for this over wifi... Just allocates a port under your ip address and you connect through browser.

Sorry, just read your post properly, this ain't what you're after at all I should probably go back to bed.

Question 1:I am looking on how to disable my rooted noted 4 from charging the slave device when connected via OTG.
I have a USB Dac connected to the phone via OTG and want to programatically turn charging of said device on and off.
The few google results have not been helpful as it seems to be different on a per phone basis. Any thoughts?
Question 2 Does our phone support being a OTG host as well as being charged at the same time, using this https://www.amazon.com/Micro-Cable-Samsung-Player-OTHERS/dp/B00CXAC1ZW
From what i've read putting the phone into photo mode or something like that it should stop the phone from charging the slave

it needs ROOT access
Hi all
I have a question regarding the p20 pro and android auto. Whenever I connect the phone it automatically switches from file transfer to charge only in the usb setting. I've tried enabling developer options-turn on USB debugging and changing the usb settings in developer options to MTP. Nothing helps. As soon as I connect the phone, it reverts back to charge only. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Try turning on Bluetooth. Works for me.
I have a Huawei p20 pro and waiting for a car with Android Auto.
Someone told me he is able to use Android Auto on the same car with a Samsung Note 9 with no cable!
However i do not intend to change the brand. Anyone managed to do it?
The spotify opens and works with no cable but that is it all

Did you check this setting? It should set the default: Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Select USB configuration
Does it actually affect any AA functionality? I don't remember using File Transfer with AA and everything worked great.

I don't think AA supports wireless functionality right now, maybe he talks about music apps.
I asked and he says maps are working. Some mirror thing. And no root
Just a few days after taking the case off my phone because it was interfering with wireless charging, I dropped it. Was in excellent condition after several years of use. So, how can I access the phone either via rebooting it with the sd or wired? With the screen cracked, I cannot turn on USB debugging through the system>about> method.
Yes, well... good luck.
Maybe you can try it with Samsung Dex or if just the touch is broken you can connect a mouse with an USB-C Adapter.
Buy a usb-c to hdmi with at least one usb, then you can use dex mode or while in dex clicking on the right bottom you can switch from dex mode to "phone-mirror" mode and use your phone.

If they can navigate to that setup with a dead display... it's going be a tall order if it doesn't automatically connect.

Seems that few people has the issue of wanting something with a broken screen phone, here i'm trying to install a rom that has Aroma graphic interface to install, and i get it how hard can it be.
