Hey all,
Anybody using matte screen protectors on their IS? Does it significantly reduce glare when using the phone outdoors?
I want to get one as the one I'm using (came with the Casemate case) is horrible. It gets TONS of fingerprints on it. Wondering if any of you have suggestions as to what would reduce/eliminate glare and fingerprints.
Thanks, all!
Using a matte screen protector from screenprotective.com
It is good, does block glare and the fingerprints are significantly reduced. Though it does reduce the already horrible quality of front camera.

Isnt there a cut out for the front cam?
No there isn't and as I don't video chat or use the front camera, I don't mind that at all.
Also, even if I used the front camera, getting the fingerprints and glare off the screen is a tradeoff as you obviously use the screen much more.

OK, awesome! Thanks for the input, dude!
Hi,
I had this problem at once, about no have cut for fropntal camera, when i bought protector for my Milestone.
Now i buyed from ebay. I not receive yet, but i can post my impression when i get if you wait...
Our Incredible S sports a Gorilla glass screen, which in my opinion makes screen protectors obsolete.
Just google gorilla glass, check the videos found on youtube, etc.
Never had a screen protector with my hd2, just sold it without a scratch after using for almost 2 years. Incredible's glass screen is even better, not only scratch, but impact resistant.

I think the OP is more concerned with glare. I just picked up a matted one that for that same reason and it does help considerably with fingerprints. Glare protection helps but nothing is going to help that much in really bright direct sun light... I forget which brand it is, but the cutout for the front facing camera is off. Don't really notice a difference in the picture but I went ahead and snipped a small part of the protector.
Oh, ok I get it.

Just an update for this thread. I decided on the BoxWave ClearTouch Anti-Glare screen protector. It is AWESOME! Glare and fingerprints have both been reduced significantly! I definitely recommend it to everyone!

Where did I what? Viu?

Does the anti-glare cause 'noise' or skews the pixels of letters? That's one of my worries of getting one. Otherwise I'd have to stick with crystal clear.
Also, does it hinder brightness? That'd kill battery life for me..

So it's a choice between the screenprotective one and the boxwave one? The Screenprotective is US$4.29, comes with two and has free shipping worldwide but is missing the camera cutout. The Boxwave one has a singular option for 12.95 plus shipping and has the cutout. Hm...
How are your screen protectors holding up? Still tight against the screen? Do they make the screen dimmer by a lot? Thanks!

Is this true, there does appear to be some doubt about our phone having gorilla glass. The manufacture states on their web site that our phone has gorilla glass but it is not shown in the HTC spec.
perhaps only the camera lens cover on the back is made from gorilla glass. i've heard this being the case with a few other phones.
fyi, i've just received the boxwave screen protector. it's great. yes, it lowers the brightness a bit because it's a bit grainy but this is the case with all matte protectors (i've tried a few). it's completely reusable so there's no need to buy two.
For now I have only used a screen protector only on resistive touch devices. They decrease the quality of the screen pretty much is my experience especially under sunlight. This is the main advantage of a capacitive screen, it's made of glass and before you scratch it you'll break it. This is my and my friends experience with several brands of smartphones. So my advice to you is to save the money for a case to prevent scratches on the case because it seems that this is pretty likely to got damaged on the surface.
Got the cheapest from ebay, had cut out for front camera. Survived for a year with lots of scratches but it was still readable under direct sunlight, just had to adjust viewing angle. I don't care if there is a drop in brightness as long as it protects my screen and reduces glare.
From the start you will still see some fingerprints, but the longer you will use it less prints you will see

Since I've known that our phone has gorilla glass I removed the screen protectors. Until now, it do not has any scars
Does anyone know of any high quality screen protectors that are also oil resistant? I've tried out tons of screen protectors, and they all seem to get this rainbow effect after a bit of use (I'm an oily person). Is the Skinomi screen protector any good? I purchased one for my TF201 last year, and I loved it, but I can't find any information regarding the protector being Skinomi's usual wet install, or if it's a dry install protector.
you mean like oleophobic screen protectors?
and the Skinomi TechSkin is a wet install
Ghost armor! Hands down the best..... Go to your local or nearest mall and find a kiosk that does it. Never peels off and lifetime warranty.

Unfortunately due to the nature of oil and the composition of Screen protectors you will find it impossible to prevent that rainbow effect when you use screen protectors. The plastics are carbon based, as is oil, and that sheen is caused by the reflective properties of the two hydro-carbon compounds, the screen protector and your oily skin, literally attempting to mix. Compound that with the back lighting of your device and situation will only get worse.
I would say to try a glass screen protector to prevent that streaking you have but they have been known to reduce the sensitivity of the spen with our device... Or so I have heard.

I'm using a Vitreo tempered glass protector and it hasn't interfered with the S-pen at all.

One of FlossyCarters reviews. He mentioned that manufacturer of a glass screen protector he has beta testers had delayed the release of the product because early the testers reported it had decreased the sensitivity of the spen. Floss does get his devices very soon after release, so that might be the reason my postulation is wrong now, several months after the release of the phone but you can Google it you want.
Also, I have no reason to lie or mislead anyone about the effectiveness of glass screen protectors as I have no stock in the OP decisions. One again, that should have been clear when I said... Or so I have heard.
Finally, what is the problem? I recommended the OP look into buying a glass protector in the first place.

Well today while plasti-dipping my rims, I dropped my M8 from about 5ft right perfectly face down onto the edge of the concrete curb. The phone made the disgusting pop sound that I'm sure we all know and my heart sunk. When I picked it up the the glass was indeed shattered. I didn't think there was any way the Nillkin could've saved my display. Very much to my delight once I peeled off the Amazing 9H, my screen was perfectly unharmed. My slim armor took a few deep knicks in the bezel and the Nillkin cracked but the phone is perfect. Anyone on the fence about tempered glass, don't hesitate. Get it and install immediately. There is no way in hell a normal film protector would've saved my phone from sure disaster. Also the Nillkin has a film layer which keeps the shattered glass intact and easy to peel off. I really super highly recommend the Nillkin Amazing 9H tempered glass.
I have one but haven't put it on yet. How was the application? Bubbles dirt? Any dirt form around it? I'm in the construction business so I'm always in a dirty environment. P.s. pretty sure this should be in general.

Easy mate. Do it in a steamy bathroom. Get it on lightly and you have a little play to straighten it up. When happy press it down fully. I found it easier then plastic protectors.

I got a free sample of the amFilm Glass Screen Protector.
The proximity sensor is properly cut out, and there are no issues with haloing or parts not adhering. Feels good, and hasn't cracked. I'll update in a few days if there are any changes, but I just put it on earlier today, and there's nothing negative to report. Installation was pretty simple.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I'm supposedly suppose to receive one later too, did you get bubbles?
Can you take photos with it on your N5x

I ordered "[3-PACK]-Mr Shield For HTC Bolt / HTC 10 EVO [Tempered Glass] Screen Protector" from Amazon and found it's too small for the screen. Has anyone found a tempered glass screen protector that fits the Bolt well?

So I ordered some that were a bit too small. I chatted with HTC and inquired about it and they make them small because it will not cover the whole screen because if curved edges and could not recommend one that was specifically designed for this I am keeping my eye out though

I have Poetic case (AMZ) and this tgsp (EBay). Glass doesn't cover the edges but case does despite being very slim. Nothing beats the grip of this Poetic, highly recommended!
I returned the screen protectors from my original post and ordered http://a.co/6XhuOvf. These fit much better, not edge-to-edge but I don't expect that. They cover as much as any tpsp I've used on Samsung, Motorola and Apple phones.
