For Q3, well, out of 2GB ROM only 1GB is user available.
For 512MB RAM, well, when your phone is working, various system apps and installed apps and services etc. use your RAM so you get around 200MB free RAM only. (rest is being utilised). Well even with task killer and RAM optimizer, i was able to reach 290MB free RAM max on Optimus Black. (Yet to say, OB is still good compared to Galaxy S & Desire where you hardly get 150MB RAM available.)
[[ PS : more about rooting and stock ROM, custom ROM etc. related queries, please browse through various threads and find yourself.
Extra PS : please press Thanks button if this post was useful ! ]]
Hi, from what I've learnt don't use the task killers. Android kernel will do that clean up task itself, it will automatic kill idle threads and use ram for neat threads. Plus ram is the place where supposed to be filled with frequently use apps in order to bring great efficiency, no? Ram just like a tank of gas inside your car, it has to be fill up.
For the lock screen, did you try to use another launcher?
Thanks for reply!
I am not going to ROOT my device since it would void my warranty provided by LG hong kong. they claimed NOT TO ROOT it.
#4: I never tried the launcher. Do you have any suggestion?
Man, from my side I say to myself: just do it.
Few bucks doesn't make me think that much (void or not void). You will soon get the joy with your phone.
I think there's way to bring the phone back to the stage where we originally bought it - I don't know I need to search more on how.
Anyway, I dream LG service centre just like Apple service centre - they will fix your phone or give you brand new replacement if it is an iPhone.

And what's the warranty? AFAIK even it's rooted, we still can go back with original stock ROM KDZ
You can capture your current screen by pressing Home+Power button at the same time. In regards to loosing warranty, please note that rooting your device is COMPLETELY reversible, as you only add two files to the filesystem (the su binary and the superuser apk) which you can then remove and unroot without them knowing this happened.

Another Android first from Fahrbot Mobile
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
E-reading - whenever you want to read on your tablet but dont want any notifications or need any connectivity, just switch to an ereader profile.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.
Usage warning
Its critical to understand that incorrect use of this application can potentially harm your device. This can happen if you create and switch to a profile that
exceeds the available memory – switching into this profile will cause a boot loop as Android attempts to unsuccessfully build the Dalvik cache.
Before proceeding with use we strongly recommend that you perform a full nandroid backup through recovery.

So it is a lot like BootManager? Only hopefully works well and doesnt have tons of bugs
No its nothing like bootmanager.
Hi, first thanks a lot for this app, was looking for something like this a while.
My question is,
i create two accounts, as tell by the help.
One is my main OS, CM7, nightly 181, glitch 13.1
The other account i just see like four hundred kb memory used. if i reboot with this account i get a boot loop only solved by nandroid restore.
What am i doing wrong?
Enviado desde mi GT-I9000 usando Tapatalk
I don't know, its probably something to do with SD links to apps, or just sme weird crazy from the nightly. Works fine on all our cm7 and 9 builds at the office.
By the way, tried the TASK from for 10.1 - it worked fine! So your issues are probably from the mods and other crap. But while you're there, ask yourself, what kind of nutjob would want a grey framework on a tablet like this? Just ditch it for something cool like KANG or at least that Overcome!

Any issues to report?
1.0.10 - this release is aimed at increasing compatibility, if your device was not supported before for some reason, please use the new logging function to let us know why!
Improved logging, added ability to send logs even from incompatible devices
Reworked native switch code - it is now faster and much more stable on all architectures
Added new notification graphics for all screen resolutions
Any issues to report? Did the last version help those who could not fast switch?
i have jus tried on my kindle, and it works. now ill have to re root it to switch back
This is very cool! I had to pull my battery on the first restart though. My boot animation was up for over 30 minutes. Pulled the battery and it booted right into the second profile.
Unlike the above post, I did not need to reroot. I'm assuming it's just because my ROM is rooted already.
Please excuse my ignorance, I try to avoid flashing as much as possible, but how would I go about installing a different ROM onto just one profile?
Thanks for this nice app! I will actually use it!
EDIT:
Things I noticed:
-On my first swap back into my default profile, I had no vibration! No apps, ringer, notifications, or anything at all. I messed with my settings but it would not vibrate until I restarted.
-This might sound crazy, but I actually think this improved my boot speed. I am running a Droid Charge with Humble 5.0. It wasn't slow before, and maybe it's in my head, but it seems really fast! (I don't have fast swap enabled either)

You will only loose root if it was installed outside /system with a different name... since 1.0.8 the app copies the binary as well, so that should not be happening. Let me know if it still is please!
Works fine for me! Bought the pro version as this is really very handy - and cheap!
The only real issues so far have been with MIUI... almost everything else should work fine.
I enabled fast switch, and I am very impressed with it! I can switch to my second profile in about 15-20 seconds.
It works great on Droid Charge running Humble 5.0 (2.3.6)
One thing I noticed is that I need to configure my account settings on both profiles, or it messes up my normal profile. Because I am not logged in to my google account on the second, it got rid of all my contacts on the first, and had some verification issues when I tried to buy apps, and with google voice. It also changed my keyboard. None of these are huge issues, you just need to reconcile these differences between the profiles.
Does it work for all Android ?

Hi guys,
just one question, search for it but didnt found a solution jet.
I´m using CM9 , latest version ofc. Under Settings -> Developer options -> Background process limit there is some options to choose. I´m unsig "At most, 2 processes". But, after rebooting the device, the option reset itself to "standart".
My question is : Is it possible to set this command as an startup file in the init folder, that after every restart it will be "2 processes" instead of "standart" ??
I hope to get some help, thanks !!!

Just a thought but I doubt you can as the phone needs more than 2 process to boot up?.....so I'm guessing this won't ever be a persistent or init.d feature,

Or can somone say where th Backround Process Limit is saved?
Pretty interesting feature that saves lots of memory and makes the devices work better; i have been using this feature on my Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7, and still setting it up. Makes thing runs better although sometimes you can kill apps that you want to be running in the background.
Any ideas on his question?.

I'm setting up phones for other people and I have found out that it is the single feature that probably speeds up -the most- most of the phones especially those that are low in the memory department.... Unfortunately to most of the people (that I'm helping with their phones) it is impossible to set this option each and every time that their phones boot so I thought maybe I'd add it a as init.d feature or -maybe so that not to disrupt the booting process- as sth which would run after a timer (which -say- lasts for a minute) runs it's course.
My only question is if anyone know how to enable this feature programmatically (e.g via shell)...
(sorry for the thread ressurection btw)
Two years old unsolved thread and no answer yet... what a shame ...
Greetingz.
this app works for me, there's an option in settings to stop background processes http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/recent-app-cleaner-t2734053 although you need to be rooted and have Xposed Framework.
Finally figured this out, man was it annoying.
I need it for my 2012 Nexus 7 running Android 5.1.1
It was running slower than molasseses until I changed the data partition to f2fs (make sure you have a kernel and ramdisk that support f2fs!) and enabled this tweak.
It can be done with root access with a single command.
service call activity 51 i32 x
Where x is the number of background processes you want.
If the API changes in the future, it's easy to look it up again.
http://grepcode.com/file/repository...4.4_r1/android/app/IActivityManager.java?av=f
Look for the line with SET_PROCESS_LIMIT_TRANSACTION
Then just extrapolate that info to http://grepcode.com/file/repository...ERSION/android/app/IActivityManager.java?av=f
Replacing DESIRED_ANDROID_VERSION with the version you're interested in.
Activity number has changed for android 8 and 9
For now the end of 2019, android 8,9 has been the major platform for recent user's handy phone, the command for those use:
```
service call activity 51 i32 x
```
can not be exactly do what you will see in android8 and android9, the major issue was for the activity number '51' must to set it to 42 to Oreo and 47 for Pie, see github issue link (https_:_ //_github.com/flode/SetAndroidProcessLimit/issues/5#issuecomment-546690235 )
That means you should use: `service call activity 42 i32 x` for Oreo and 47 replaced for Pie.
Hope for adding new activity number for Android10

Hello there. I just wanted to get some advice from windows phone veterans.
I currently own an android device and I want to purchase a secondary phone. My choices are either blackberry or a windows phone 8. Or another android device.
I really want to try windows phone 8 but I'm still hesitant since I've never used any Windows mobile device before.
I also like to install apps and games, that's why blackberry is currently under wp8 on my list right now.
Can someone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of wp8. And, also, will getting a mid tier device like the lumia 620 affect my possible wp8 experience? Aside from being a budget phone, it is the only wp8 phone that I know of that has memory card support. And I need external memory.

Samsung Ativ S, Nokia Lumia 820 would be the more high end devices that feature SD card expansion support. The Lumia 620 is 512 MB RAM device which some Apps (especially games) do not support (you will not be able to install them). Aside from that a Lumia 620 should be similarily fluid in usage as faster phones.
As for the memory card support: you can only move Music, Pictures and Videos to the SD card. You can not install Apps there or have Apps store their data on the SD card.

This is bull I think. Everything I've fed to my "beastly" 620 has worked. So what apps or games in your experience do not work and you've verified not to work?
I use a Lumia 810, having moved from a galaxy s2. Apps seem to the biggest thing to get used to
YouTube - I use Supertube
Tumble - I use blueprints
For an android looking contact manager grab contacts off the store.
UC Browser is a good companion to internet explorer and I've found it quiet useful.
For a live battery meter I use battery meter pro and amazing weather hd for live tile weather.
Snex8x for snes and vga8 for gba roms. I have alot of games and more or less there the same as android offerings.
Hope this helps. No file manager app at all though ?
Sent from Lumia 810 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I recently bought the 620 after some years of Android budget devices.
All I can say is: it may not be the most dev/ROM friendly operating operating system, but after sorting out the multiple-google-calendar problem (caused by Google!) I must say I'm really happy with it.
Currently sorely lacking:
- dropbox support
- no app for my bank (ING) where there was one for Android and iOS
I really like the way social networking is integrated in this OS.
Some small issues I see:
- idiotic implementation of sms delivery confirmation (you get an sms back instead of a checkbox in the sent sms)
- only one volume setting
My previous smartphones were:
- original Samsung Galaxy (piece of crap)
- LG P500 (loved it and still like it a lot. Girlfriend's phone at the moment.)
- Sony Xperia Mini Pro (loved it, dropped it, screen broke. Will keep it for modding.)
I hope this helps...

Currently have a Windows Phone 7.5 device (Focus 2); now have a 620 on the way. For me, the main difference is that iOS and Android are all about the apps. You go to an app for Facebook, an app for twitter, an app for contacts, an app for e-mail, etc.
Windows Phone bakes all this in. It's People Hub, for example, is a contacts list, but it's more a communications center where you can see your friends messages, Tweets, and Facebook posts without having to jump around to a lot of different apps. It's smarter and you get more out-of-the-box, before you even install your first app. (It used to take me two days to get a new Android phone set up with the right apps and widgets to make it usable - a new Windows Phone is ready to go as soon as I've added my Google, Hotmail, Facebook and Exchange accounts.)
The DISADVANTAGE is that your favorite apps may not be available on WP. There will likely be lots of apps that do what your old app did, but if you want that old familiar Instagram (for example), it's not there... yet. Also if customization is your thing, look elsewhere. WP is focused on making your phone as functional as possible rather than as unique as possible. (Not that there's anything wrong with that; it's just a different approach.)
I encourage you to give it a try. As with any new OS, it helps if you have a friend around that already has WP and can show you the ropes. The Microsoft visual interface is very clean, modern, and spare. Which is another way of saying that there aren't a lot of visual clues that will guide your through finding your way around. Fifteen minutes with a buddy is invaluable.

It seems 512 MB ram is enough for %95 of applications and %75 of games now.
But big problem is on disk storage. My Lumia 620 has 8 GB (7.28 GB usuable) disk storage You cannt install applications to the SD card.
Temple Run won't run on 512 MB devices, Asphalt 7 Heat did not work until a recent Update. The newest version of Tune In Radio does not work (only the older Nokia specific version). The list goes on with the recent releases of Batman and Spiderman.
Sometimes there are updates that make it work on lower memory devices. This is blocked through the Store so you won't be able to install them if the developer opted out of it.
It simply is something to keep in mind when opting for a low - midrang WP8 device. It's not that different on Android though (some Apps don't support all resolutions, etc.).

I have been using Lumia 620 for a few days now. I am extremely happy with it, Alhamdulillah. I have used two budget androids before (SE Xperia mini pro and Micromax A25). I liked the customization of android, but you have admit it, you don't really need to customize your phone every day. The brilliantly simple UI of WP8, the coherent look on all apps and the buttery-smooth performance - I am enjoying a new level of smartphone experience. I know there are androids that will give me similar smoothness, but they are pricey. I didn't find any android (or apple for that matter!!) that could match the performance at this price point as Lumia 620 does.
I've try every superfixed Rom, django 1.6.5 and others, with any kernel available but the phone make me always nervous, some time seems fast sice i find myself stuck on a white screen ora an empty home launcher.
The lag switching from 2 application was the worst thing, sice i have activated the anr messages to close unresponding apps. Too many time opening an application result in a lot of anr messages.
I've try carburano script in every combination, but where some things goes better, others goes worst.
I've too many apps installed?
I've wiped the phone so many times that i don't remember the last one.
I start always from a fresh installation.
Last one is django 1.6.5 with kowalski kernel 2.6.39.4, but seems less responding that KoB adios 0.7 with scripts.
Maybe i just need to change phone, this is "too old".
:crying:
Maybe but my phone works very well

You sound like a selfish brat, you know. No offense, but do you know how it is handling a low-end single-core device? Like the LG Optimus L3? If you have money to buy yourself a brand new phone, go ahead, but don't neglect the work that has been done on this, actually, powerful device. Disabled and removed some system apps (HWA app, Google Talk, PDroid, Apollo)
Installed some apps as system apps to increase stability (Nova Launcher 3.0.2 and Google Play Music)

Dear NoDze, thankyou for your helpful answare because that's the point of this phone, without the hard work of developers of this fourm is totally useless.
By the way, in my post i'm not "spitting all over" for sure, i'm just saying, the phone doesn't work sorry. If any developer read something disgraceful about their job i am sorry, this was not my intention.
Remains the fact that i can't answare the phone if i'm using some applications, like waze, and with some kernels, application's listing like twitter or facebook are really slowly and jumpy, with some other not, but they have other problems.

Hahaha, yeah, I get that a lot. I like the term "geek" more. Nerds are more the star trek and klingon type. I like speed. That's why. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit harsh, had a bad week, so apologies to you. But, you get the point The phone is good, but not "power user" good. If we only had a dualcore snapdragon instead of the tegra, and at least 1Gig of RAM, this thread wouldn't even exist. So yeah. You can cheaply switch over to some rather stronger gadgets. Sell the Optimus by installing Kitkat on it (Kids love having the latest and greatest), put it on ebay, amazon or whatever your local online market is and get for a few bucks extra some better phones, like the old but gold Galaxy S2, Galaxy Nexus, or even the Nexus 4, or maybe try dipping into the chinese market with Huawei. They make better phones with every new month. And dirt cheap at that. Maybe even android isn't your strong point. Windows Phone has improved drastically. Anyway, sorry once again and good luck with finding the right one for you.
