Use camera app with external USB cam - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, I have an USB endoscope camera, and I'd like to use it with the factory camera app (it would be great because of the voice activation controll, say "shoot" and take picture without pressing/touching a button.
But unfortunately when I attach camera, it works fine just an another application. Is it possible to change something in the factory camera app to show me the external camera's picture?

Uses for front-Facing camera

I have the Kaiser on its way. This is my first device with a front-facing camera. previously had the ATT 8525. Is there any other use for the front-facing camera other than with 3G video calling? Can it be used with messenger or skype or for anything else?

Well with the TyTn it was possible to use the front camera with the Coolcamera application - for such things as a webcam etc, But, I think I read somwhere here that there is a problem with coolcamera and the Kaiser.
Perhaps someone can confirm (or not) that this is the case.

I read about that same problem in Pauls review thread on MoDaCo. I was wondering the same thing, what can the front cam do for us in the USA?
For starters, the built-in camera app does let you select the front cam "Camera 2" for stills and it lets you flip the image as well , so no need for a mirror on the back like my 8525 had.
Hopefully there will be a way to use it for video conferencing at some point.

this report I found to be a step backward (??) in term of video conferencing ??
I don't know, a face is a face. I just checked this bug out using the camera app, Very Interesting!;
I set it to Camera2, my face was a mirror image, I held a text card and yes the text was reversed.
I set it to Camera2 Flipped, my face was "normal", text was readable.
Here's what's ODD, in the Camera2 setting, if I "barrel rolled" rotated the camera 360 degrees while watching the monitor, My face was always upright!
If I set it to "Camera2 Flip" and rotated the camera, my image rotates upside down as the camera rotates.
That's different!

[Q] HELP! camera will not work

Hi,
My camera will not load properly , the app launches and I can see images through the camera, but none of the buttons load and so I cannot take an image!
as there is no dedicated camera button I am left with a fancy view finder!
can anyone help me with the stock camera APK? or some help on how I restore the camera function without reloading the stock ROM again please?
thanks
bit more detail-
I installed Camera360. and it would appear that once I uninstalled that app it screwed up the native camera app. If i put Camera360 back on, that works with No issues but the native app still does not work.
Camera 360 does not scale correctly to the screen which is quote annoying

Camera controller app

What app do you work to remotely control your camera. I am looking for one that will allow me to see what the camera sees before taking a picture, so I can make sure the picture looks right.

Activate Camera (by shaking the phone) with another camera app?

Is it possible to choose another camera app when shaking the phone? I really dont like the moto camera app.
i gues you can:

Video Camera Failed - Ten Cent (Flashed WW)

Hey guys,
Anyone know why my video recording feature isn't working?
Can take photos fine. Just any of the camera recording stuff just says failed.
Thanks

You have to factory wipe, not sign in to anything when you're first setting up your phone, no Fingerprint, no Google, nothing and when you make it to the home screen, then you can sign in and everything will work as intended. Or use Google camera. Just easier to wipe though.

After skipping all the setup like this, how do you then restore all your apps, settings, etc from another device like you can during setup?
Actually this the problem with Google app... Just uninstall update of Google app to factory version... Check your video recording... If it works then install previous version of google app.. 2 or 3 version before is a good one i think. Recheck your video recording after.

Nope it's actually caused by the voice search function. Just disable voice match setting and video recording works again.
If you want to keep voice recognition on, you can also just install a 3rd party app like open camera.
Same issue, installed OpenCamera and everything works fine. Stock camera app has a big red capture button that when pressed causes a video recording error.

Do you retain features like slo-mo video, portrait mode, etc with OpenCamera (or any 3rd party camera)?
All features in OpenCamera work as far as I can tell.

I just tested OpenCamera, and you lose a lot of functionality by using it instead of the stock camera. To name a few things you lose:
1. You lose the wide angle camera
2. You lose the 48mp option on standard camera
3. You lose slo-mo video
4. You lose portrait photo mode
I tried installing the Pixelmaster apk from Open APK and the install fails. My guess is that is has something to do with the microphone. Still troubleshooting..
install the original ROM?
