Touchscreen stopped responding - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I have an issue with my Galaxy S10+. I changed the screen and now the touchscreen does not respond anymore. I tried with the old screen and it does not work either.
What makes me think it's not the connector is the fact that the display works, the buttons too, and the vibrator as well : it means that the connector should be working. Also, I launched a fingerprint test with *#0*# and test passes, the values change if I put my finger on the sensor or not.
I tried to wipe cache and do a factory reset. I tried to launch the * # 2663 # touchscreen firmware update but I get a grey screen and it closes.
Any idea to help me?
Thanks a lot.

My screen goes blank while making a call

I just bought a Galaxy S from ebay and am facing this problem. Everything works fine on the phone and it doesnt look like there is any water damage. When I try to make a call the screen goes completely blank. I cannot disconnect the phone or do anything since the screen is blank. The only thing that I can do is remove the battery and install it again. Based on my research it seems like its a proximity sensor. I even went ahead downloaded Z-deviceTest and all hardware seems fine. I also upgraded to the official 2.3.3 from Samsung so I dont have a custom ROM, no root nothing! What can it be? Should I ask the seller for a refund or there are any tweaks for it. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not an expert, but seems related to a faulty proximity sensor indeed...

I am pretty positive that it is the proximity sensor as when I insert the headset calls can be made without the screen going blank. I dont have a screen protector and I tried to put some compressed air to see if that changes anything.
When making a call and the screen goes blank can you cover the proximity sensor for a while and see if its turning on the display? I kinda have the same issue sometimes and covering the sensor would normally do the job.

Same problem here, seems that plugging headset does the job. It is kind of lose or lose situation, even turning off (any idea how?) proximity sensor would not help as screen would be touched by ear Any other solution anyone? Or some kind of calibration? Check? Most applications from marked I have checked are crashing or showing 5cm from sensor regardless.

Dead Touch Screen??

Hello,
My Touch screen doesn't respond to touching since an hour ago.
I see no logical reason for this fault,
My screen is guarded and nothing happend to it.
I tried to remove battery and insert it with no luck, I booted my phone into CWM touch recovery, and it also doesn't recognize touching.
update2:
The problem appeared again.
just flash a kdz to return to stock rom

The problem appeared again I tried a lot of times to remove battery&insert but it doesn't help.
Please help me.
I've just flashed my phone to stock rom,
I'm still having the same touchscreen issues - the screen won't respond to touching.
Any suggestion please?
Is it possible that the touchscreen issue is caused because of the screen protector?

Screen protector protects screen If you have got stock FW back on the phone, just bring it to your carrier and they should do it on warranty.

Thanks for the advice,
I flashed stock rom and now when I turn on my phone It shows me the "Android Welcome Screen", Is there a method how to bypass this screen without touching the screen? (If I'm taking phone to my carrier, it might seem strange to them that my phone shows the "Welcome screen" whether the touchscreen doesn't work so they could know I flash my phone and not to accept my phone's warranty)

You can try on-screen phone, which is a software by LG, but i think, that this also needs to be setup first... Otherwise, just tell them, that you did a factory reset, because your phone wasnt working properly anymore, and thats when your error occured.
I dont see another way... Maybe repair it on your own

I'm going to take my phone back to carrier
But there's very strange thing: the touchscreen rarely works.
I removed the battery for a night and when I got up in the morning and I inserted the battery and turned the device on, for a few seconds the touch worked . What does it tell about phone?
I've just received my phone from repairing, and my touch screen has been replaced.
I'm a little disappointed because I expected for getting new phone(I have a warranty). I've also noticed that the screen is a little thicker, about few mm, which is weird.
Is it right that phone with replacement touch screen won't be as smooth and good as normal one, or not necessarily?
Same problem of Freezing screen
Disappointing but i too have this very same problem with my brother's P970... any ideas how or why?
though sometimes it would respond but leaving it a few minutes would again make it freeze. The hardware buttons work but the 4 touch buttons wont. now i cannot get thru the rom manager to make it into Bootloader mode so i can install another rom...
some things i did a few days before this happened:
1. flashed CWM recovery successfully.
2. installed a lot of apps and happened to fill up the SD card.
3. installed a new ROM Gingerbread Repackaged V20N
I can still get to S/W Upgrade but all I need is the Bootloader Mode. I honestly dont think this would be a digitizer malfunction since it works well in a given time. It's like it lagggggs much and unresponsive. I cannot get past the lock screen. Any ideas or any other way to get to the B/L mode? Thanks.

You need to indicate your current ROM. Then can the issue be accessed

Problem with HTC One touch screen and capacitive buttons

Hi,
so I have a huge problem regarding my HTC ONE it's touch screen and capacitive buttons
some times touch and buttons work and sometimes it's not but mostly not
when I press hardly on the bottom of the screen near the home button it response shortly then return back to not working
When it suddenly works and the touch moves smoothly the phone vibrates just like if someone presses the screen and buttons and it returns to home or keep pressing in such a mad way
I couldn't figure out if it's software problem or hardware problem
and I seek help
I think that this touch screen touch problem is mainly because of capacitive touch problem
note:
the phone did face some hard actions, it falls from my hand in the ground few days ago but there wasn't any problem at the time
I have seen problems like this caused by electrical interference (using the phone too close to medical equipment), and by chargers (electronic interference from input current that's not "clean"). In your case, I would guess it's hardware damage. Have you upgraded the OS while keeping very old firmware (drivers)?

If you upgraded officially, the driver update was included in that.

I think it's broken. If a factory reset doesn't solve this, it needs warranty service or a new digitizer (cheaper than the LCD panel, if they can be replaced separately).

If a factory reset didn't solve the problem do you think that installing custom ROM would solve the problem ?!?!?!
could I replace the touch screen only ?! or should I replace the whole LCD with touch, since the LCD doesn't really have any problem
I though of installing custom ROM and try to disable capacitive button and see if the touch problems with the screen goes off
I feel like that since when I press hardly on the right bottom of the screen solve the problem momently maybe it's an out of place lcd or touch thing since it fall from my hind before !!

Question How to reset touch screen sensors on Mi 11 Ultra? Touch Screen Not Responding

After I restart the phone, touch screen does not work anymore.
Now I have to use the mouse to control the mobile.
Is there a secret code or something I can do to reset the touch screen? Or some sensors or anything?
Methods such as restarting again and safe mode did not work. I also tried a total shutdown, then turn it on again, but nothing.
It does not want to work.
Any advice will be helpful.
Hi Hogar315,
Maybe with CIT you know more, which sensors, touchscreen and so on on your phone work/or not...
settings -->my device-->all specification push 4 times (Ore more ) kernel version.
Also you can try to enable the advanced powermenue in the developer settings. If you shot down you can try to go directly in safe mode.
Good luck

Touchscreen on CIT testing does not work
Safe mode does not solve the problem either
What advanced power menu will give me?
Thanks

When you dropped the phone , the force of impact could've caused some internal connector to become loose.
Or it could've damaged the touch digitizer itself.

I do not remember it dropped me... do you think that this could be problem after maybe half a year or even more?
But I was doing restarts pretty often without any problem.
Thanks
