Guys, I want to congratulate all, Meizu has posted the source code of Linux kernel for Meizu Pro 5. This means that the Note 4 (with Exynos Kernel) has a chance to become even much better. I ask all developers who are still developing kernel, please port something!

Wow that'd be really cool. @djmax81 any chance that you'd be able to cook that in your kernel??? I've seen in live action the Meizu pro 5 and it is an incredibly fast phone....
It's not even on the same SoC, so what are we expecting it to tell us? The 5433 files are pretty much the same as the stock Samsung ones - they even same the same typos in them.

Isn't the driver sources the one that is missing, not the kernel sources since samsung already provides it?
I heard what the developer of ultimate kernel said, that meizu made totally new termodriver, "meizu-thermal". Where Note 5 have throttling (1.1Ghz - 1.3Ghz) - Meiuzu stably keep 2.1Ghz and very rarely fall to 1.7Ghz. At same time this phone is warm but not hot. Meizu GPU work with disabled DVFS and it's frequency hold on max 772Mhz. Also Meizu has double tap to wake, and wake gestures that don't drain battery. With a similar hardware Meizu has 8-8.5 hours... So Meizu has much better software then Samsung.
p.s. uk developer bought meizu pro 5....

i'm interested in buying a smartphone with battery AT LEAST 5000mah ... and there are not so many phones like that ( of course i need custom roms) apart from this nubia and zenfone 6.....

Me also interested, i have a Huawei Mate 20 X now with 5000mah. It's a nice phone, but the RM3 has no notch, a 90 Hz screen, more RAM and storage and comes with stock Android (is custom roms still needed then?). Only downsides for the RM3 is no NFC and lesser camera, both i use daily.

I'm a longtime Oneplus user (had every phone from the Oneplus One to the 9 Pro). I'm looking to jump onboard the Mi 11 train, but wanted to know a couple things...
1. How is the overall performance compared to the 9 Pro? I'm used to the fluidity of OxygenOS for so long that anything slower will be a pain to get used to.
2. Can the 65W Warp Charger from Oneplus work (at 65W) with Xiaomi's phone?
3. How easy is it to root? I have a few apps that I use regularly that require root.
4. When rooting or fiddling around on the whole, how easy is it to reflash and start again? I know that OP has tools like MSMTool where I can just reflash the entire phone back to stock incase I f*$k everything up. Samsung also has Odin. Is there an equivalent for the Mi 11 Ultra?

1. I think miui will be slower. I heard people said that oxygen is almost like stock android, but miui have alot of extra function
2. I think no, different charge technology. Of course, charge will be fast but u will not be at maximum of "warp" things

unfortunately I have to tell you that the 8pro was faster
the oneplus touch is much more instantaneous and so is the fingerprint reader.
However here you have a camera that looks better and for me who love photos it has been determined but if you want speed, responsiveness and a more naked system well stay on oneplus friend

Is the performance night and day? If it's a big difference between them performance-wise, I don't think I can I've with that. I've gotten way too used to the speed and responsiveness of OxygenOS.

I moved from oneplus 6t to Mi11U, ( i know they are incomparable, but as a software experience, it is same as all oneplus devices), so i'd like to mention the following comments, worth to be considered:
- Animation in oxygen is faster in MIUI, that is where you'll find oxygen faster in general, this can be changed in developer view settings in MIUI under (Drawing section) and changing all animation and duration scales to 0.5 to OFF. and you'll notice the difference.
- Oneplus fingerprint is totally faster than MIUI in everyway. but a split second does not hold me off from a new experience.
- Camera is a matter of taste, and your own choice of photos. Personally, I love MI11U over OP9Pro, but photos of OP9Pro might be more preferable to me.
- MIUI bloatware is annoying for sure (only in CN and EU. versions). I use global (out of the box) Mi11U, which has its own apps, but nothing is annoying and it is really comfortable to use.
- MIUI software in general over oxygen, that is after a very long experience with Oneplus ( over 3 years with 3 devices), compared to MIUI for almost a year now. MIUI is almost bug free, smooth, security and memory manager app is really useful and manges your device very well. compared to oxygen, you'll have minor bugs (not major) all the time that will NEVER be gone, faster updates but most of the time they replace bugs with others. never ending story which is pretty annoying.
i'd like to summarize with the following:
- Device in general : MI11U
- Camera : OP9Pro (with more potentials in MI11U)
- Software speed : OP9Pro out of the box, but I'd say Tie (Possible to improve in MIUI with developer options).
- Fingerprint scanner: OP9Pro by split seconds.
- Software cleanliness and smoothness : Tie (Global MIUI considered)
- Software bug free: MI11U with a huge margin. actually, it completely thrashes Oxygen.

Thanks a hassanaliyeh. You made my decision a lot easier. It's always hard to move to something new, but I think I'll give them a try.
I'm reading however that there a 7 day wait when trying to unlock the phone's bootloader. Is that true? Can someone direct me to an updated guide for rooting and unlocking?
168 hours between starting the process and the actual unlock and format. Just make sure you use latest version of mi-unlock tool from Xiaomi and ensure you have a fully bonded Xiaomi account on your phone and the Xiaomi website or it won't unlock. There is no way around the wait unfortunately and remember to not lock the bootloader unless you are back on original stock ROM branch. If you go Xiaomi EU ROM, the bootloader shows unlocked but the ROM acts as if it is, so no loss of security and no need to root unless there is something specific you need that requires it. Lots of guides for unlocking but just follow the Xiaomi guide on their website.

Ok understood. I'm buying the 11 Ultra from someone and I just found out the bootloader is already unlocked. Once I wipe and set up my own Xiaomi account, I shouldn't have any worries right? All that should be left to do is just root?
I think so but I've never bought a second hand Xiaomi. Maybe someone who has gone through this process could comment? I would have thought that once you logout or the previous owner logs out, it should just be a matter of formatting data and logging in from scratch with your account?
Before wiping off the device, log out of his mi account first. And better if you create yours and log it in then wipe off.

Guys, I'm in desperate need of your help.
So in fiddling around with MiFlash, I attempted to flash the stock Global Rom over, but didn't realize that the 'clean all and lock' option was select. No sure who's genius design choice it was to have that option selected by default, but now my phone is bricked and can't get past the recovery screen

First of all, I recommend to wait for phones with MediaTek Dimensity 9000 releasing next year Q1, or phones with Qualcomm 8 gen 1 made by TSMC next year Q3Q4(instead of chipsets made by Samsung).
Qualcomm's snapdragon 888 and 8 gen 1 suffers from Samsung's poor manufacturing and have big heating issues and poor performance to energy consumption rate issues.
MediaTek Dimensity 9000 is being made by TMSC, and there will be Qualcomm 8 gen 1 made by TMSC in the later half of next year, and they will have better(lower) power consumption and temperature.
Therefore Mi 11 with snapdragon 888 is not recommended.
However, to answer your question:
1. MiUI's overall performance is not bad, and on par with Oxygen OS.
2.Xiaomi's phone uses USB-PD charging, it's more universal(meaning lots of charger on market and not expensive), and offers higher charging rate. It's a difference protocol than Warp Charging and your 65W Warp Charger will only charge 5W1A on Xiaomi's phone.

I prefer customizable phone (like good custom rom support) but with my little research even 11T Pro doesn't have proper custom rom yet beside xiaomi.eu. What are the reason for that and will 12T Pro have the same curse?

The price and popularity are surely the brakes on development as well as the A12/A13 restrictions.
There are AOSP roms for the 11t pro but it's stagnating, not sure if it's going to continue (I deleted my RiceDroid thread because the links were deleted).
A lot of developers switch to telegram and no longer publish on XDA.
Currently on a 12 pro no rom except Xiaomi had rom while source code for A12 has been released for 8 months.
I had an 11t pro but disappointed with the autonomy I took the 12 pro and I don't regret since for better performance I have the same autonomy(with less battery), it could be much better but Xiaomi prefers to sell rather than optimize processors.
I also had the Poco F2 pro where we had to launch a crowdfunding to get roms.
To conclude, by buying a 12 t pro you risk waiting a long time to have Aosp roms.
This device looks interesting but what good is a bigger battery on the new soc consumes more than the old one
I don't know if you made a decision yet, but in case you didn't yet (or for anyone else in the same boat) I want to give you my point of view. (Writing this on my T12 Pro)
Untill now there's not even a XDA device page for the T12 or T12 Pro or K50 Ultra (basically T12 with Snapdragon 8+ Gen1). So I don't expect the custom ROM support to be good.
Someone mentioned the long wait for unlocking the bootloader to be a reason but I doubt that's the main one. It seems like none of the recent Xiaomi phones have any really good custom ROMs available. I think MIUI not being the best base to build a custom ROM on could be a big reason for developers to stay away from it.
If you really prioritize good custom ROM support, why not go for a OnePlus or even a Google Pixel (or another brand with good custom ROM support)? I don't know how the ROM development is or will be for the newer phones, but the OnePlus 8T that I switched from had some good ROMs available. I switched mainly because I found a really good offer for it, €650 which I can deduct the tax from, and a free Redmi Pad along with it that I'll sell. If I manage to sell the Redmi Pad for €250 and the 8T for €300 I'll have made €13 on upgrading my phone.
Using the phone I'd say the only thing that's a big difference for me is the bigger screen, bit other phones can do that too (not many with a flat panel though, which I like about the T12 series). The Snapdragon 865 was already powerful enough for anything I threw at it including prolonged COD gaming sessions at highest settings, while staying cooler than the T12 Pro does. (Not that the T12 Pro overheats that much but it definitely does get warmer than the 8T).
The camera on the T12 Pro can produce better results, however for point-and-shoot I think the 8T will produce more consistent results because it's more optimized. Maybe Xiaomi will fix it with software updates but for now this is my experience with it, though I've only had the device for 3 days now so my experience with the newest MIUI is limited. I've already found one bug and multiple gripes with it though.
For me I'll probably use the device for half a year until I can renew my contract and find another deal for a phone that suits me better. For now I don't mind using MIUI; I immediately requested a bootloader unlock though to install the Xiaomi.eu ROM and root. I might also end up installing Pixelify on it if I get tired of MIUI (no experience with Pixelfy yet but seems an interesting alternative to custom ROMs), which would hopefully give me at least somewhat of a stock experience.
If you're happy with your current phone and the only thing you'd like on top is a good custom ROM, I'd say keep it for a while, and maybe try Pixelify to change things up a little.
If you really want another ROM but you're happy with the rest of the device, maybe try to get a similar phone used, preferably Snapdragon 865 or newer, with good ROMs already available. (I'd only buy used if you can pick it up locally and check the device)
If you want or can only buy a new phone, and prioritize custom ROM support, go for a brand that is known to have good custom ROM support.
If a Custom ROM isn't your main priority and you can get a deal like I did, go for it. In my case I can sell it for more than it costed me, maybe even a year down the line.
