Nexus One Power Button Issue

I have read many threads about the issues that the Nexus One has with the power button. I feel that my situation is a little different, so I wanted some opinions on this. My power button is completely unresponsive. I can't use it to turn the phone on, wake or lock my screen when the phone is on, etc. My phone has an unlocked bootloader and is rooted. I am currently using the track ball to wake my phone, so I'm not having any real issues with day to day operations of my phone. I was completely convinced this was a hardware issue (and still am), but I wanted to be 100% sure it was a hardware issue before contacting HTC. I downloaded Quick Boot from the android market which allows you to reboot your phone, boot your phone into your Bootloader, and boot your phone into Recovery. I decided to boot my phone into Bootloader mode to see if the power button would work there. The power button didn't work in the Bootloader, but neither did the volume button (prior to this test, I had no issues with the volume rocker at all). I pulled the battery and let the phone boot up to check and make sure the volume button was still working when the phone was running. Once the phone was booted up, I had no issues with the volume controls. My question is why would the volume rocker not work in the Bootloader? Also, could the issue that prevents the volume rocker from working in the Bootloader be preventing the power switch from working while the phone is booted up? If there is a chance that it's a software issue, how would I test/correct the issue? Thanks your help.
Most people I have seen complain about that problem, send the phone back for a free repair because it's a hardware problem.
The best way to test it is to flash a stock rom.
Thank you, I will try reflashing the FRF91 stock firmware and see what happens. Thanks.
Definatly sounds like the power button is broken. I had one like that. Send it back for a repair/replacement.
I've checked my immediate suspicion, and it turned out to be correct - so I'm posting the result:
Your power button is actually stuck in "ON" position (pressed).
Anyone can test it, press the power button to wake up the screen, keep it pressed, every operation is allowed in the system and volume buttons work. But when you reboot and try the same in bootloader, having power button ON disables the rest of the buttons.
My screen doesn't wake when I press the power button. Any other ways to check if it's stuck in the "ON" position?
It's 100% determined by your description. The only other check would be running any kind of SW that shows the current key states, and I'm not aware of any such SW.
I've posted the checking procedure for people with working power buttons, so they can verify the findings.
Any way to fix the issue?
If you're technically inclined and can't use warranty, I suppose that getting to the power button and repairing/replacing it wouldn't be very difficult. But no other way I can think of.
has anyone tried to repair this?

A DIY can not be too difficult and you may be best to search YouTube. It can not be too terribly difficult as long as you can open it up and remove any connecting ribbons (I've had to replace my girlfriends iPhone digitizer due to phone falling out of back pocket onto concrete from three+ feet up). As long as you can open it, you're fine. Just going to need to re-seat the button. Good luck!
Greetings,
I had the same power button issue. I was able to wake my phone using the usb cable whenever the screen timed out but otherwise the phone worked 100% of the time in all ways. I got an RMA and label and shot the phone to them in an anti-static wrap with 4 inches of bubble wrap on all sides and foam padding on top of that. The phone was in perfect condition. Well to cut to the chase. I got a quote of 196.00 because they said there was water damage!? I treated that phone better than I treat my own body! There was no water damage when I sent it in. So one of their folks send me images of a phone that has a broken screen, water damage in the base usb port and no inscription. Interestingly all of the angles avoided showing the ein or s/n. My phone has a laser etched inscription with my name and a couple of bible verses. So what am I supposed to do here? Pay another 196 for an 800 dollar phone that had nothing wrong but a power switch? I am a T-Mobile customer and an Android developer in good standing. What the heck!? Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to get this squared away? My only other option is to send them $28 to get the phone back with the same power button issue. It's even under warranty until Jan 28th.

why dont you contact htc of a nearby country and send them the phone? i know it is being done. of course you will have to arrange for the transport but it's still worth a shot imo

Marshmallow Hardware Buttons

Hey guys, to explain my situation briefly and simplistically.
My phone has the vol - button broken ( permanently stuck) I remapped the buttons so it wouldn't keep lowering the volume on my phone, but it keeps booting into the bootloader and spams ( volume down pressed) until I connect my phone to my computer and open up console and write : fastboot continue
This hasn't been a major issue as of yet, but next month I will be travel abroad and I really need it to be able to boot up without a computer.
Now is there any possible solution to remap/ disable
The bootloaders key buttons to avoid the hassle? :/
I really appreciate any sort of response, thank you.
Once you boot to your bootloader, press volume up when it hits Power On. I highly doubt there is a way to get rid of the key binding

I'm sorry, but the only thing I can think of is to cut the ribbon cable coming out of the volume down button. Just open the backcover (find a tutorial in YouTube) and use scissors or a knife to cut the cord coming out of the volume down button. Only do this if it's severely damaged and you plan on getting a new phone anyway! Then you can use a volume app or press the volume up button and adjust the slider. I'm unaware if you already fixed it, but regardless that's my two cents.

My Nexus One screen not working after changing upper motherboard

Hi! Hope all of you are well
My problem is that about the title, I had to change upper motherboard because dead Power and +/- Volume buttons. Between my brother and I did the job, we put all in the same way the old mobo was, the phone charges until charge LED goes green as normal, the new Power button works because when I press it the phone does the typical boot vibration, but screen dead, it doesn't show nothing, even after waiting a few minutes until it fully boots the OS the Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons doesn't vibrate after pressing them
Any help and suggestions will be well received and appreciated
Thanks in advance!

Is my ASUS ROG Phone 3 bricked? Screen doesn't turn on

Could someone point me into a direction what exactly the problem is? I have used this phone on unofficial LineageOS 18.1 for a few months but suddently after dropping it from not all to high the screen displayed lines and colors similar to those that you see when you drop your phone into water (there was no water contact and the phone didn't fall that great of a distance, maybe like 1 meter/ 3ft).
My first guess is that the screen is broken, but I tried using ADB to extract some files still on the device but was unable to, especially I can't boot into fastboot or recovery it seems...
When pressing the power button the phone vibrates
Pressing the power button and volume down key reboots the phone (as seen on PC). Holding them down a long time shuts the device off or something. it can only be turned back on when plugged in.
I tried all possible button combinations to enter fastboot or EDL but nothing seems to work (Power + Volume Up / Volume Up + Volume Down while connecting to a PC with USB 2.0).
On my PC the device shows up as "MTP USB Device", everytime, not sure if I'm doing the EDL thing wrong...
EDIT: After leaving the device for a day, it suddenly started to vibrate and repeat the sound I guess plays when battery is low, over and over again in an increasing volume. The volume buttons had no effect as did the power button until it stopped and then didn't respond anymore. After plugging it in again it was back to vibrating once after i pressed the power button. What mode is this??
Any help would be greatly appreciated, not sure if it is even bricked but it seems off that I can't enter fastboot or anything else (like EDL), thanks!
