Settings > Wireless & networks > Hotspot > More > USB tethering
Connect to USB PC first to see that option
Or Dev options > USB Configuration > RNDIS (USB Ethernet)

You have to be connected to USB for the option in Hotspot to show, mine does not show when it is not connected
And no, you are sharing your mobile data so no need for WiFi

ah im misunderstand how it works...i thought my phone would as as a wifi adapter...so it'd accept the wifi signal from the router so that my desktop PC would get internet access

No, it just shares mobile data via USB or WiFi depending which hotspot you create
You just need a USB WiFi adapter for the PC

Might work on the P30 if you disable Mobile data and only have WiFi connected, then tether via USB

Sometimes with USB cable connected, Diamond cannot connect to wireless LAN

After I unplug the cable, Wireless LAN comes back.
I think it's Active Sync which deactive WIFI when it's connected to PC threw USB.
I agree. Then the next question is how to disable Auto Active Sync?
Try to go to Settings connexions (or option like that) in ActiveSync on your PC, then uncheck Open ActiveSync when device is plugged.
Start -> Settings -> Connections -> USB to PC
Uncheck Enable advanced network functionality

Wifi and Bluetooth Problem

Hi,
I need help how to turn on the wifi and bluetooth. After install windows XP everything is fine until today i would like to turn on wifi and bluetooth. both not function. I do know how to detect the problem and solve the problem. Need expert to help me...
Thank you.
have you looked in device manager to see if they are disabled? right click on your "my computer" icon > left click on properies > left click on device manager
now you should have blue tooth devices and if you scroll down you should have network adaptors where wireless card should be listed make sure both are enabled. do you have the BT icon in your tray?? have you done a windows update? Have you installed all your drivers??
good luck

internet through usb?

How to use internet thtough usb from pc with i9000?I`m new with android, with WM and activesync everything goes easy...and here how?
same question here, tried a lot of things but nothing worked
AFAIK it is not yet possible at this time, just too much stuff to do to get it working
fastest way is to do a WiFi with your PC/laptop
there are software for the PC to make it into an AP even if you don't have a router
Froyo does comes with usb tethering option, but I don't have the chance to try it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Theres an option in About Phone in setting under usb setting. Select mobile internet, select that and plug into pc via usb cable. Wait for about 30sec and vola, you are all ready to go. No need for wifi.

don't really understand your question but...
For 2.1 - Settings > About Phone > USB Settings > PC Internet
Plug in your phone to your PC via the USB cable and wait for the drivers to install, once it's done you're able to tether using your phone's mobile network.
OR
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile AP
Configure it, turn it on and connect it like a Wifi using your phone's mobile network as a hotspot.
For 2.2 - Settings > Wireless And Network > Tethering > USB Tethering [Checked]
Plug in your phone to your PC via the USB cable and wait for the drivers to install, once it's done you're able to tether using your phone's mobile network.
OR
Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile AP
Configure it, turn it on and connect it like a Wifi using your phone's mobile network as a hotspot.
hope that's what you're asking for.
what does PC Internet mean here ??
using pc's internet to cellphone
or
using cellphone's internet to pc ????
On WM PDA, the PDA can use the computer's internet for connectivity. However on Android, this feature is not implemented by anyone.
So what if you don't have WiFi, like me? My PC is connected to the internet through a USB modem.
When i connect my Galaxy S to the PC (Settings > About Phone > USB Settings > PC Internet) i get a (very fast) LAN connection but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Is there anyway to configure either phone or PC so i can download or update apps from the market to my phone using the PC's connection (thus saving on my data limit)?????
Yes you can use your galaxy as a modem to connect your pc to internet by setting the usb setting to pc internet.

This I know, but the question is can I connect my phone to my PC's internet???
Done lots of research on this, Simple answer is NO you cannot share your PC's internet via USB to SGS. Winmo users like I dearly miss this feature from ActiveSync.
some newer laptops includes Ad Hoc WiFi
as in Share the laptop WiFi with another device nearby that uses WiFi
so the laptop acts as the AP
there are software for older laptop as well to do the same

[Q] Whenever I connect USB, it says "MTP initilization". How do I change this?

I want to be able to mount the USB storage from my notification menu whenever I connect the phone, not have it connect to MTP. Is there a setting somewhere that I missed?
1. Go to "Settings" > "Wireless and network" > "USB utilities"
2. Press button, then connect cable to PC
Seems this has to be done every time.

Yes, this is how I have been doing it until now, but it is starting to get old. I was just hoping that someone else knew how to change it.

This worked, thanks! I didn't think debugging would affect its connection type like that. I always assumed it was just for adb mostly.

Enabling USB debugging didn't work for me. I had to disable USB debugging to enable USB connection if that makes sense.
