Hey Guys/Gals,
I just bought the Mi A2 128 gb/6GB international version. How exactly do I root this?
Do you think that someone is going to answer with a complete rooting guide? Why don't you dig yourself a little in the A2 subforum before doing such an evident FAQ [emoji17]
There you are.

Hi, i couldn't find a thread like this so if there is any sorry. I'm going to get k20 pro in couple of days, so i got some questions.
Can i install mi 9t pro global rom on k20 pro(i see that xiaomi eu rom is for both k20 pro and 9t pro).
And custom roms(like aosp, pixel) are they compatible with both versions of phones or they are made individually.
I hope you understood what i wanted to ask.

The two phones are essentially the same hardware, and SoC, yes you could potentially flash the mi 9t pro's Rom on the redmi k20 pro.
The Mi 9T Pro is meant for European markets and comes with band 20 that is required for those regions, specifically.
To install ROMs like Pixel Experience or AOSP, they're based on Chinese or Indian firmware, so you'll need to install their respective fastboot ROMs to use them, not at all complicated just look around on the forums, and you'll find guides to install the custom ROMs.

No idea what a twrp global Rom is, if you want to install twrp, get the unofficial image from here on the forums 3.3.1-15 or whichever is the latest one

Yes, that would be done using mi flash tool and selecting the option clean all and lock, should work if I'm not wrong, would need someone to clarify but it should work

No I would suggest you to use the mi flash tool and download the fastboot rom to get to the global version of miui 10 for k20 pro. You can get it from mifirm (google it), and use the rom in mi flash tool much easier, but you have to have an unlocked bootloader first

Only if you have a global phone. You will hard brick the phone if you try and lock the bootloader after flashing a ROM that is for a different region to the phone. You can only successfully lock the bootloader when the phone has the stock ROM that is for the same region as the phone.

I don't know if we'll get one soon, but TWRP from this thread is by an official TWRP developer.

BIG FAT NO, Your K20 pro bootloader cannot be locked with a Global ROM in it, you'll brick it.

I think the lesson here is,
don't get this phone if you want to re-lock the bootloader after flashing Global ROM.
xiaomi is s-h-i-t at updates.
Just go with OnePlus7/pro/T/T-pro whatever if you value your money, phone and security updates.

The lessons here are.
Don't listen to people who clearly don't know what there talking about.
If you want a locked bootloader and save between $100 - $300 over an new OnePlus phone, then buy the phone for the region your in. European phone in the EU, Indian in India and a global phone for anywhere else.
If you want to save between $200 - $400 over a OnePlus phone and can live with an unlocked bootloader, then buy a Chinese K20 Pro.

Why would someone re-lock bootloader? I dont see point. I unlocked my mi 5s bootloader 2 years ago and had no problems with it.

Again as has been mentioned many times, you want to make sure the phone you get is compatible radio, and bandwise to the region you live in.
For example in Canada, the Chinese or Indian Redmi k20 pro, has some of the bands required to run, but msot importantly misses band 20, and a few others that would make it much more well suited.
So for this reason the only version that will work is the Mi 9T Pro, either the global version or the EEA version meant for European markets.
To check for compatibility region wise go to kimovil (google it) and make sure it works in your region. Otherwise it's not really a phone of any use if it doesn't function as one in whatever niche area of the world you may happen to live in.
Do your research, and avoid expensive regrets, good luck :good:

Thank you so much, i couldn't find a site to check 4g compatibility. It says that 4g is 2/3 available (missing B 20) but b3 and b7 are available so i guess i can use 4g.
Hello friends, I bought a k20 pro in aliexpress, so the seller changed the ROM to the global one. I received a system notification that exists a security updateto be downloaded and installed, my doubt is: can I update it? I will not get problems?
Another doubt is if I will receive the Miui 11 update automatically or I will need to install it manually.
Thanks friends

Hi Guys!
I already searched on this forum and couldn't reach a conclusion.
Never had a Xiaomi device berefore. I bought a Mi9 transparent edition from China, It will arrive next week, but I would like to know:
Can I flash global ROM? It has Chinese ROM.
Can I flash Mi9 standard AOSP based ROMs?
Thanks.

Ok, so can I really flash xiaomi.eu/ROS/Globe without any risk? I am afraid of bricking it, I don't think I have warranty support on my country since it is a chinese version phone and I saw that the it is almost unbrickable.

What connection fastboot have to global or CN ROM versions?
Hello everyone,
Searched the forums and could not find a definitive info regarding this, apologize in advance if i missed it.
I'm soon to receive my mi 11 ultra china version.
Alltough the bands used by all the carriers in my country are all supported, i've read somewhere on the mi 11 forum that the modem settings for china are different from the global/eu rom ( at least for the mi 11 ).
Wanted to know if i flash the original global/eea rom from xiaomi via the official tool, will i also get the modem configuration from the global/eea rom ? ( Just like the global mi 11 ultra )
Cheers !

i think you can BUT, don NOT lock the BL when you have a cn version running global or EEA.
As far as i know you can flash other versions as long as you keep BL unlocked, or it wil brick and you need EDL

You can unbrick now without edl iirc
There is a method on YouTube but I haven't needed to try it yet
When you down load the ZIP document with ROM every week, boot (kernel) & device ... Some instances it is also called modem or baseband (no idea what is the right ... I have Mi4w with miui7 ultimate international builders model.

If you mean the modem configuration like unlock needed bands it won't work.
I am not sure, but I guess it can be done. As far as I know, you can flash other versions after you keep the BL unlocked, I hope it works for you.
I'm on a china model in the US with the global rom installed...I would love to be able to use 5g. I would have to believe that if the hardware supports 5G and the modem software is preventing it there must be a way to get it to work.

This is an older thread but wondering (1) did the baseband change to global after flashing the global rom? (2) Did it then pick up the band 66 (IF broadcast by your carrier in your area...not necessarily everywhere) Thanks
edit...folks are imo incorrectly focused on 5g (getting 5g or not) as its deployment is very spotty. Further if you check via signal check lite or Lte discovery apps, you will see that even if the phone shows 5G in status bar (lots of folks say they 'get' 5g based on that) the actual band is an LTE band usually (this is even with Apple iphones-have tested them out both on Tmobile and AT&T in my area...the 5G is mostly bunk imo and just marketing). ANyway, I digress. Does the flashing of global rom change the baseband to the global baseband and is the phone then able to pick up LTE 66 IF broadcast in your area?
