Poor and abandoned development, why? - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Why do the few projects (especially ROMs) born for this phone end up being abandoned?

That's actually not true. All the devs are now on Telegram that's why you don't see much here.

Yeah, many of the roms that are abandoned here are on telegram

which telegram group exactly?

Mod Edit : Telegram Links Removed.
Telegram Channels are not allowed on XDA.

Go on the rom thread that you want, there is a telegram link all the time.

But anyway there are only few roms and 1 or 2 custom kernels for this flag xiaomi device

Can't run more than one anyway and PE is pretty much perfect. We should be really happy about that.

I like miui based more so everybody like different roms

Derpfest, Bootleggers, Magma.. keep looking ?

I think this is a little disrespectful for the developers out there, who do this job mostly or entirely for free.

Maybe that's a reason but also the user has abandoned the ussage for roms

IMHO It's a chain: Making ROMs and any other software, devs grows technically, enrich their resumes and receive donations. Users gains their devices a little more juice and stands happy.
Everyone wins.

[ROMS] Droid Incredible - The ROM thread

If someone would like the information from this thread, please pm me. I will no longer be maintaining this thread nor will I be contributing in anyway to this community.
I want to say thank you to the developers, you have made my time here fun. To the people who don't think their opinions are superior to yours, enjoy yourselves. To everyone else... you need to stop and have a reality check. Your opinions are not superior to anyone else's, no matter how much you believe it to be.
I will stay active until someone pm's me for the thread info.
Very useful. Thank you
Nice work! Thanks.

ha! unfortunately, no, it's on XDA, so it should (hypothetically) be easier for people to find. It's also a work in progress, I want to do so much with this. Being a college student on break has it's advantages.

You may want to include a short explanation for each ROM category (AOSP, Sense, New Sense, Senseless) as well, because the differences between, say, an AOSP and Senseless ROM are difficult to understand for many newcomers.

yep, this is my plan in the near future. I am so stressed out about this week, though... lol. For the next 3 weeks I have nothing but nothing to do, I plan to make this thread awesome.
Please continue to leave suggestions for the thread. If it gets too cluttered with my silliness, I'll just make a new one (v.2). But I will definitely keep this up to date.
Very convenient, thank you for putting in the time to put this together. It is now part of my favorites.

I didn't think about it because AFAIK the only D/L link for it is via ROM manager. I'll add it though.

can developer steal a rom from another developer?

just a subj... is it possible the some developer just take a rom which weas made by someone else and announce as his one achivement? (sulerly, some minor ganages could be done in the rom)
how to identify the thief?

It's not really stealing i guess as long as you put out credits of the people who created it, or by asking permission from the developers.

if the "owner" has not been aware about any usage of his rom, is it faire to thread the rom? "credits" are given when a team were worked out the rom, or when you take the result of someone's job and just say "hey, i take it" ?
in my opinion, it is situational and depends on the context.
A =/= B =/= C
But they could share similarities that most people would agree something was done morally wrong. I guess you could share with us the situation then we can give a better opinion?

i just wondering is there a sort of "widly known gentelmen agreement" about such situations. and the second matter is to get an idea how both parties (both developers) can get "a profitable solution" for both (= peace)
In my opinion, the developers community should be honest for it members. And other users have to proud for the achievments of this community. All team's results would be better, than results of each developer. That's why they should be together ^.^
PS sorry for bad english, I hope you understand my meaning

all should be together with all ... sounds impossible
the problem is HOW can others results be used for making app / rom etc?
what is allowed to do and what is forbidden (ethically)?

To work together - allowed, to use with proper credits - allowed. To edit build.prop and post as own rom - not. I think so.

If you suspect something, you can always go and compare files.
Technically you can do whatever you want since android is open source.
Ethically it isbetter to consult with rom owners about using parts of a rom and credit them offcourse

if someone did not done it (consult) before he take a part of rom, what will happen? does it mean that othe other community will declare a boycott against him? or just say "you'd better stop doing it"?
Of course you're all talking about the Rom owners, Google... Right? Or perhaps HTC? I would be very surprised if any Rom posted in our dev thread have asked Linus Torvalds personally if they could post a derivation of his operating system here.
You don't see too many credits to those 3 either...
It's public domain, nobody here has built a Rom entirely from scratch all have borrowed from the community and the source, and if they offer even one piece of code that's new, I say good on them, they are contributing to the community, and the community will take from and build on that too.
But let's cut to the chase, why are you asking the question? You're planning to contribute? Or are you here to point the finger at someone for stealing your creation?

Like everyone has stated, being a open source code and that no one in here is making profit from the roms, (on this site at least i can not speak for the world) it is really a null point of theft everything is free you can not steal something that is owned by the public. As well if you plan on taking something from a rom I would strongly suggest that you ask, and give proper credit were it is due. personally if i worked on a project and someone was using my development with no permission or credit i would publicly humiliate them in anyway possible so that the ass who "stole"
my work would never be able to call it his own again. As well the XDA community is great group of people who if you steal anything from another rom with no permission will find out and ostracize you for your pathetic attempt to pass of someone else's blood sweat and tears as your own.
Nuff said lol

Like XDA But On Steroids

Hello everyone,
I've been pondering over some project to divert my time on and well recently I've begun to notice the somewhat unorganized mess XDA has become. So I thought of the fabulous idea of creating a new website made strictly for ROMs, Kernels, Rooting, & Unlocking Bootloaders. The website would have separate sections for each device, then differing versions of the device, then for android version, and then finally for type of development. For example AT&T Galaxy S3 CM12 rom would be found under Galaxy S3>AT&T>Lollipop>Roms>Cyanogenmod 12.
Get it? Super organized, super easy to find things.
What do you guys think? Is this something worth investing my time in? Or should I just give u on this little project? Be brutally honest please. After all there is no point on building a website that nobody will ever use.
More steps but easier finds. Nice.
Sounds good, especially if you can get support from xda.
CyanogenMod 11 listed under jellybean ROMs?
Your biggest issue is people dont really leave xda. Developer wise most are keen to stay here because support and friends are here i imagine. Also logistically trying to support even half the phones xda does and have it so organised into just what the phones are compatible with, along with paired Q&A + general threads would be immensely time consuming and would require more than a few people to keep up with the flow. Not even considering user mistakes with roms added in the wrong forum. While it would be a good idea i wouldnt attempt it. The mods are always willing to listen to new ideas to help keep the forums tidy though. Maybe try help out closer to home?

I thought XDA was created for that.
Are you saying that for some phones there are devs who don't use XDA at all?
BTW seems like nobody cares for A71 and we won't get any debloated roms any time soon. Shame.

Not that. Some people just prefer to access a messaging platform than a forum. Is way too easy. A lot of phones (e.g, Xiaomi's and Realme's) have Telegram groups with bots and notes to facilitate the use and search for features, mods, etc.
I don't really understand why this phone doesn't have active devs. When I look up at YouTube I see a lot of videos from different countries and it appears to be a good selling one.

No and no one cares this device for this moment, maybe I will, cus current on daisy is everything done. And with "stock debloated roms" you mean stock rom, but debloated? (Some kinda deleting unnecesary apps, adding features, customizing kernel, right?)

Well yes, stock as in not AOSP, because only Samsung's firmware gives full control over the camera.
And yes, debloated as in no rubbish apps from Samsung.
I'm not sure what customising kernel can actually give you as benefit, I'm not Dev.

Well that's a great news.
What I'd be worry about is how to install it. Since there isn't a simple way to even root the firmware.
Do you happen to also know how to prepare a custom bootloader?

Question For when an aosp ROM for my 11 ultra?

I have owned a mi 11 ultra for several months now and I am still waiting for a custom ROM for this device. I feel like that would greatly improve the user experience I would have with it. I am willing to donate to anyone who creates a ROM for this device. How many more would they donate?
