Battery Life: Before/After BL Unlock - Realme X2 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi. I have unlocked the BL yesterday and freezed some apps, replacing them with my favourites.
But battery was draining faster than before.
Now I'm on Unlocked BL + Magisk + Google app freezed.
Except for these things 3verything is still stock, but battery life seems decreasing faster. And it's weird because Google app was the most draining app.
Is faster battery draining after BL Unlocking a real thing?
Or is it just my mental paranoid?

I don't have any personal experience with BL unlock, yet.
But in general I read about problems (missing notifications, battery drain, something specific not working anymore,...) all the time after system apps got freezed.
Maybe try to unfreeze first. I doubt that the unlocked BL itself could cause this problem.

Disabling Google app alone is not a good idea as any other app that relies on its services will keep querying it. This will cause battery drain. You either uninstall google framework altogether, or simply enable google app and use the phone normally. The drain issue should get better as the phone will learn your usage pattern and adjust accordingly.

I don't actually have any problem of battery draining. I've had more problems before unlocking that afer unlocking, not gonna lie

Battery drain is quick

Hi.
I've recently bought a SIM-free Galaxy S3 LTE (GT-i9305) smartphone online. I've since changed the battery to an "extended life" 2550mAh one.
I still find the battery draining quick. At 6am its fully charged then by 10pm its down to less than 10%. On my other thread i indicated my normal everyday routine and what i use my phone for. I have had numerous Android phones in the past so i know which ones to turn off, etc.
I understand Chrome can be a drain on the battery so i have disabled it. I have heard of Knox (anti-virus/security) affects it as well but i am not able to uninstall it. I have installed a battery-saving/monitoring app Greenify but i feel it doesn't do anything. Sync is also turned off on my email and social stuff and i put my phone on Airplane mode if i'm at work as the signal tends to be almost zero inside the building.
I also understand the battery tends to improve after a few cycles of charges.
So, Is there anything else i'm missing here?
Please advice. Thanks.

I'm sorry that this is not helping but I have a similar issue.
My battery drains really quick too. It drains loads with screen off, and I get less than one hour of screen-on time. (with stock) It's been like this for a year, but it's getting worse. I get about three times this with the 7amp zerolemon like I should. Charging is super slow too. I'm really starting to this this is a hardware issue. And no, battery stats, wakelock detector, etc. show nothing. Do you recognize any of my problems?
You say you're using greenify, but have you actually tried greenifying apps? That didn't really cone across.
But what I would suggest would be to us betterbatterystats to check what may be the culprit. I assume you're on stock firmware? In which case I would suggest getting titanium backup to get rid of bloatware.
The last option I could think of would be to try out a factory reset to see if there is any improvement.

Bad battery life. Android.gms wakes up 2.1 times per minute :(

Hello everyone,
When I got the X, I was happy with its battery life. Since the past couple of weeks I am having a terrible experience with the battery life. I installed betterbatterystats and I checked in the alarms tab, com.google.android.gms has consumed 60%? How do I stop this. In standby mode as well my battery is losing by 4-6% every hour?
Any help is much appreciated.
Clear data from Google Play Services and Google App, or do a factory reset. I have noticed that my phone drains more battery in standby than it did in Kitkat, upto 5 times more. In device operation, opposite is true. But the standby time sucks. Really, no solution seems unless Motorola releases an update, it is getting really lousy to fix bugs; or better, you can unlock bootloader and use a custom ROM.

have already done that and performed a factory reset to. no benefit.
the only reason i am not flashing a custom rom is because i want the moto actions.

You can stay rooted on stock rom as well and figure out what's eating your battery. That way moto actions won't be lost either. That's what I've done to narrow down what's eating my battery.

Battery Life and Wakelocks

Hi guys,
so i newly setup my phone recently with OOS 4.0.3 in order to have a clean phone for the most efficient use.
For my surprise, for the first time using the 3T my energy efficiency was very good, i managed to get 4,5h SOT with the first 50% because i had almost no drain when the screen was turned off.
I attached the screenshots.
Basically, i just flashed OOS 4.0.3 and the newest franco kernel and magisk for root. I didnt use greenify (which i usually do), just the strict standby option in the android settings.
So far so good, but now to the part i cant understand.
I installed gsam battery monitor and gave it root access, so i can have detailed battery information.
From that point, i experienced again the standby drain combined with wakelooks, as u can see in the screenshot starting around 60% of the battery.
So far i uninstalled the app, i used greenify, but i cant get back when i had no wakelocks.
Is it really because of Gsam Battery? How can get away the standby drain without setting up the phone completely new?
PS: I also deactivated some of the access rights of apps, especially for play services.
Is it possible that they regain the access by themselves or that google play services is draining the battery

Don't deactivate app rights of play services. It would break the functionality randomly and u won't know what happened. Just enable and reboot. Next time something happens, check the stat in gsam battery monitor. It's a good app and I am using it from 3 years.
It's not gsam I've had it installed on every phone for years and I always get amazing battery life.
I dont use google apps at all besides gmail and maps sometimes. But ill try around if it makes a difference.
I also cant believe that GSAM really is the problem there, but i didnt change anything else, i was just surprised of the good battery life and wanted to see the characteristics of battery statistics when i have a normal standby drain.
And immediatelly from that point on, the standby drain changed as u can see on the screenshots, even after uninstalling GSAM.
I now get 2h SOT with 50%, not 4,5.
So, is it possible that anything influencing that is changing by itself?
I didnt install any app or changed any setting, all i use was setted up in the beginning (franco, magisk, viper, all apps)
Yes google play store and google play services if you downloaded it and installed it that way? Google ruins battery life very randomly. If you restored a titanium backup or sideloaded the app then I have no clue. Even if you didnt do anything different there are a ton of things that can go wrong with android in the background. Recharge and reboot and start over.

tried everything already + wiping cache/dalvik
I just now wiped also system and dirty flashed the ROM + the stuff i need. Ill see it that solves the deal.
I just cant accept to not have the control over my phone as thats one of the advantages of rooting. I got the same battery life with same usage with my 2,5 year old OnePlus One.
I run the same apps on every phone and this phone has doubled the performance and battery compared to my nexus 6 note 5 and nexus 6p. First phone I've owned that actually sleeps when I turn off the screen.

The OPO with CM back then was a dream.
Are u using any apps or adjust settings in order to tweak that behavior?

I've been on CM13 since the day it came out Dec 11th. I was getting amazing battery and standby on stock since I got the phone late November. I use xposed for tweaking everything but no modules or apps or settings for battery savings.

I found 4.0.3 would get wakelocks from location service. I have installed firmware from OOS 3.5.4 and used Leandroid, since then I've had my old battery life back.

I like that app, but its only fully functional with SuperSU. Do u know if there is any similar app also working with Magisk?

Some parts of it only work with SuperSU, sure. The important bit that fixes the MRa big does unfortunately.
Not found a magisk equivalent, but I'm eager to find one!
I just recently got my 3T two weeks ago running OOS 4.0.3 and I also notice a lot of wakelocks, especially when on mobile data (3G/4G).
I am still tinkering to figure out what are the root causes for wakelocks in this case.
I suggest you install BetterBatteryStats from XDA, it does provide a lot of good info. GSAM is good too but I prefer BBS. You can grant it permissions to Battery_Stats if you are not rooted.
Here are my findings so far:
Google Services likes to access the GPS a lot, so I turned of Location History. This resulted in fewer wakelocks when the screen is off.
I have changed the GPS and set it to GPS Only so that it doesn't use the cell towers and WiFi to help determine a location. I am not sure if this makes a difference for wakelocks yet.
I know Nougat has doze, I am not sure how well it works...fortunately there is Aggressive Doze in the battery section of the settings. I have not tested this yet but this is something I will look into once I have determined all others aspects that may be causing wakelocks.
I do have the LED notification light enabled and I am using LightFlow to manage it. It works in conjunction with the built-in LED settings from OOS. This is fine, but I do believe this may cause wakelock issues.
Once again, in my experience, I get a lot of wakelocks when I am on mobile data compared to being on WiFi and I am not sure why there is a difference.

(Note 8) Something Is Really Stuffing My Battery

Got the phone at launch and the battery was brilliant, 5 hours SOT no problems. But the last couple of months Google Play Services has been killing my battery. I've tried everything I could think, removing location permissions for all apps, disabling bloat, installed PDP to go that extra step further on apps that wouldn't allow it. Factory reset, cache wipe, I've done it all. Yet still, Play Services is ruining my phone, of the 10% I've lost so far in my 45 minuntes of being awake, Play Services accounts for 5% of that. I've gone through every individual app to see if any have a matching battery usage that doesn't show in the battery usage section under battery, but none do, not even close. I am at my wits end with this, it's ruining a truly fantastic phone.

Have you tried not disabling things? Seen quite a few reports here where disabling some bloat actually led to higher standby drain, Google Play services drain, etc.

I haven't....I'll factory reset and give that a try. At this stage I've lost track of everything I've turned off lol. Thanks for the heads up
Try using wakelock detector, greenify, GSam or betterbatterystats to check what wakelocks are causing drain.

Yeah I had to reset my device and start all over going as far as Odin. Anything I disabled using BK Disabler didn't start working even after the factory reset, so I had to Odin firmware on the device. Prime one being Bixby. No matter what I did she would not work at all. Was like if the button was a dummy.
Battery life with things disabled was garbage. Either Samsung had a "lie to me" thing going with this device or the services related to those disabled things, are actively trying to enable them, causing the battery to drain.

Yes the posts I read specifically mentioned Bixby (among a few other apps), so I tend to agree that something Sammy has done results in exactly what you said...when those apps are disabled the phone keeps trying to enable them causing added and unexpected drain. Hope the reflash worked out for you (and OP as well). I think it will

Faster battery drain after OTA update to 9.1.0.252 on Huawei P10 VTRL-L29

After updating to 9.1.0.252 I noticed faster battery drain. Did any of you experience the same behavior? I'm thinking to go back to 9.0.1.
Thanks

I noticed faster battery drain on my ltr-09 as well. All is fine now. I noticed when i first upgraded location was turning on alot almost like it was learning when to turn on. Then it levelled out. Example opening google now at first it always turned on my gps now it doesnt. When i was on 9.01 i left my phone on battery saving for gps. You cant on 9.1 and i have seen alot of apps that used to be good with battery saving location now going for full with gps. Big bttery drain. Those were the differences i found. What I believe solved my battery drain was actually my battery getting all screwed up. I had this happen when i would switch roms and my battery stats would get all messed up. I solved it before and solved it this time with my p10 by running the thing right dead. Then pluging it in overnight with it turned off (no fast charging) Then I did it again the next night drained to dead , plug in charge with off ( no supercharging) and my battery life is better again. Hope this helps. EDIT After a few days of testing i still felt the battery was better but battery life still wasnt right. I did a factory installed minimal apps. Battery life was good until play store updated carrier services. I uninstalled updates to carrier services, disabled auto update. Then i actually disabled carrier services completely. Battery seems good now. From what i read carrier services is for next gen texting. Saw online others were having issues with this update.

Wrong, batteries get older with time and charging cycles. Updates have nothing to do with it and if you notice a drain right after one - it has nothing to do with the condition of the battery, it's the update's fault.
updates are huawei's way to convince you to buy a new phone
first they borked the camera, now they are messing with battery
I managed to improve battery life a little bit by disabling apps running in background and disabling unnecessary location permissions for several apps like @bigshowjh said. Like @bigshowjh said I found apps resetting their permission or settings after update. Still the battery life is not like it was before updating with the same usage behavior.

I have ran a couple of days with very good battery life. 11.5 hrs with 62 percent left. Seems like it used to be with Oreo. Overview of all I did was as follows. Clear cache partition, factory reset . Uninstalled Google Chrome (used Firefox instead) set carrier service to factory in apps three dots advanced. Disabled automatic update of carrier services in play store, then in settings apps disabled carrier services completely. Went through and disabled network access to every app that doesn't need it. I don't use Facebook or Facebook Messenger apps. I use them through my browser. Oddly chome on pie is a battery killer as well. I'm very satisfied with proformance of my P10 again.
My GPS is pretty much always off (unless I really need it) and the battery level still goes down by 9% during the night. It used to be 3-4%.
I cannot find carrier service anywhere.
In my case I can't see power hungry apps in the stats, standby process uses the most energy.
