Looking to buy an S10, single SIM or dual SIM? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

I'm thinking of buying an S10 plus from CEX here in the UK, I've noticed their dual SIM models are £10 cheaper than the single SIM model, I'm wondering why? It seems odd you're paying less for potentially more functionality, I'm wondering if I'm missing something obvious here haha. I take it most ROMs will work fine with the DS variant?

Note 8 Question - Snap or Exynos?

Hi there,
This might be done to death but here goes - i currently have a single sim Three (unlocked) that has the exynos chipset, since i go over to the states alot, i want to get myself a dual sim Note 8 so i can use an American number with my UK number without having to annoyingly keep switching over or have 2 different phones.
Obviously dual sim means no microSD, so far i only seen Eqynos variant 64gb but elsewhere seen a Snapdragon variant 128gb which is tons more useful, in real life usage (especially coming from a S7 Edge) will i see much of a difference? Has Snapdragon caught up nowdays?
Also how easy isit without tripping anything that will disable Samsung/Android Pay to flash Carrier (Three) onto my unbranded Note 8? Mainly if i get rid of Three Note 8 phone, i lose access to 4G Super Voice which kinda sucks.
Thanks for the help
Obviously dual sim means no microSD,
Not obviously, you can DIY your SD card, just combine your SIM and SD to one, please do search, it's working well.
Thanks.
I was in the same dilema as uk samsung only sell the 64gb dual sim. Went and bought the 256gb sn9500.... no problems at all. Even using samsung pay without issue.
It is dumb that they won't allow more Ryan 64gb for uk market.
Also using the dual sim and sd card.... is probably a bit risky as the sim tray is so flimsy.
I used dual sim and sd on my axon 7 without issue... but the note 8 i think will be a bit risky.

Hybrid Sim (i.e. supports dual sim operation) availability in UK?

Hi,
Does anyone know whether the Nokia 8 john Lewis sells supports dual sim, or know anywhere else that sells a dual sim supporting model in the UK?
Thanks
For anyone else looking for a UK Dual Sim model, they're almost impossible to find. The BT Shop lists them at £521 (yes £220 more than most places currently list the single sim ) but I couldn't find them elsewhere. Plenty of grey imports on Amazon, and ebay has the usual sellers importing the Asian market version from China but trying to pretend they're based elsewhere, with the usual warranty risks. I went with purchasing an EU model from Clove - they're slightly dearer than the UK single sim versions, but not too bad. I'm guessing pressure from UK network providers is why we largely get single sim versions. Probably not a big issue for folks who live and work in one place, but I've yet to find a network provider who offers consistently good data coverage across Kent.
I looked at the 7 plus as an alternative (surprisingly hard to choose between the two) but I think the Nokia 8 still has the edge and Dual Sim versions of the 7 Plus aren't any easier to find in the UK.

Australian Telco note 9 dual SIM functionality

Hi all,
I've signed up for a note 9 plan since my new job allows allowance for work mobile. However the sim tray is not hybrid at all(the second sim slot can only for micro sd card) . I've managed to cut the SIM so that it fits into the second slot, however unable to get this to work.
The SIM works fine if it's plugged into sim 1 slot. Has anyone got any solutions to this? Any input would be appreciated

Sounds like you device is of the single-SIM variety.
Even if you bought a dual-SIM Tray to use,it will be of no benefit, you have a single-SIM phone.
Flashing firmware that works on known dual SIM phones will not do it either, many have tried various things, the functionality simply isn't there (presumably a hardware issue,it's simply not there).
FWIW,I tried a dual-SIM Tray on my US (T-Mobile Note 9),& nada. I knew what to expect going in,but, had to quash the slight bit of false hope.
The Exynos single SIM Note 9's are the same.

That's quite disappointing, it was one of the reasons why I got Samsung phone after all..
All of Samsung's Webpage indicates that all note 9s are capable of dual SIM functionality. I guess I should have double checked with Telco to see if they have locked the Dual SIM functionality..
Appreciate your input tho man. Cheers

I've never seen anything stating all Note 9's are capable of Dual-SIM functionality, but, I'm in the US, where Dual-SIM phones are the exception vs the single SIM variety.
The only phone that I'm aware of that has Dual-SIM capabilities, but, ships with both Single-Sim and Dual-SIM firmwares is the OnePlus 6T.
You could try a Dual-SIM tray & flashing a SIM-Free firmware that's known to work on Dual-SIM phones to find out with certainty.
The trays are cheap enough, I got mine from eBay for less than $10 USD.
I hope I'm proven wrong, but honesty, I'd keep my expectations low.
Please keep us posted on your outcome.

What's the difference between Single and Dual Sim ?

Hello All
I just bought S10 Australian Version G973F online from dubai (exynos)
I thought it will be Dual sim but actually it's Single sim
So is there any difference between the dual and single sim in terms of hardware ? Cuz here in my country only Dual sim is available so if there's a difference in hardware i will be in trouble cuz I won't be able to fix it if something went wrong.
I went to Samsung office here and they can't decide they told me different opinions so i hope anyone can help me.
Have a nice day all

Are all Samsung s20 FE dual sim or not all

Hi All,
I just returned empty handed from the Samsung store at the mall. I wanted to pick up the Samsung s20 FE dual sim. I need dual sim. I was told by the sales person that they only carry the single sim in the store. I asked him if he could pop the sim tray from a sample s20 FE and showed me that it only tales a sim and a SD card. Then he said that you can only get dual sim when ordering online.
I just when online and don't see a dual sim option.
So is it true that Samsung makes single sim models and a dual sim model?
Thanks in advance for your response.

Yes, it's true. When you say you went online and didn't see a dual-SIM option, do you mean you went to Samsung USA (as it appears you're located in the States)? Samsung USA (or anywhere in North America) doesn't offer a dual-SIM model. What the sales rep meant was you have to go online to buy an international, dual-SIM variant of the S20 FE, of which there are several.

Thanks for the reply looks like I will have to start looking at Oneplus again because I already have a dual sim setup on my oneplus 6t works excellent but wanted something with better camera and able to record calls.
I already tried the Pixel 5 or about 2 weeks but had to return due to all the short coming on dual sim. I was not able to set a separate ring tone for each sim and there is not way to setup call record.
So I'll keep looking for solutions.

I actually quite like Samsung's dual-SIM phones - partly because I am used to Samsung's ecosystem, and partly because of their dual-SIM features. I currently have a dual-SIM S9+, and I plan to get a dual-SIM S20 FE myself. I don't think any of them have native call recording though - but of course there are apps for that.
