As the title says, is there any way to reflash the full stock firmware as Im trying to fix my phone's battery drain and see if reflashing might fix it. Strix version. If not so, is there way I can root my phone without the need for a computer to plug to? Thanks

Hey everyone,
Yesterday I foolishly applied the Kies update to JPC without getting an unlock code first, and was left with a phone I couldn't actually use as a phone. I then tried flashing back to earlier firmwares via Odin (at the time it wasn't clear what was causing this problem, so I thought reverting to older firmwares would fix it). By the time a fix was posted, I was back on JF3. At least now I'm not that nervous about using Odin
My question is, now that I'm back to JF3 and can use Odin to flash any firmware, which would be the best option to go with? Which is the fastest, most stable one that you've tried? If necessary, I will root and apply a lagfix, but I'd prefer to have a firmware which maybe doesn't require one. Do you think maybe I should apply the JPC update through Odin again, or would it be too much of a hassle and too risky?
Thanks for your help.
Hello all,
i have reading the guides almost all through, but i m confused or dint have full answers on the following:
My current fw is DDjp6
1- Recovery 2e: what is the best possible way to get it?
2- Clockwork mod or any other mod like lagfix ...if i apply them on my current fw, is it possible to flash to a newer fw with odin straight with the root?
please give possible explanations on unrooting methods, thats the part where im more confused.
Google unrooting and you should come up with a way to do it although I cannot see a reason to unroot unless going for warranty. One way I know of how to unroot is by reflashing you current FW or upgrading your FW. Both will case your phone to be unrooted. As for lagfix and clockwork mod, do NOT have lagfix enabled and try to install clockwork mod. Will mess up your phone. Anything else you need to know is in this forum.
Hi,
i have a sgs from optus australia with the following info:
Baseband: I9000DTJP3
Kernel: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #36
Build: FROYO.DTJP5
i flashed the speedmod kernel following instructions on the cyanogenmod wiki http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
i wanted to flash cyanogenmod but it had a signature verification fail, which i now know is because of the recovery version. so i've given up on that and i just want to update the phone over kies to the stock gingerbread.
so, i'm pretty sure i can't just connect the phone to kies and try to update it because it has clockwordmod recovery?
so the question is how do i get back to stock kernel? i think I've downloaded the right firmware (from:http://www.multiupload.com/CH3Y5SAHE2), is it a matter of finding the kernel in that folder and just flashing that back on to the phone? is there going to be any issue with this?
thanks everyone
So I just went for it and updated the phone via kies. It worked with no real dramas.
So the next step in getting back to stock is to get rid of superuser, which I can't do now because the update took away root.
Is there a way to temp root the phone to remove superuser then get back to unrooted again?
Why not to flash with odin, with repartition and full wipe?
It will restore it ot factory settings.

Thank you for your reply, I read this a couple of days ago but I didn't really understand half of what you said lol
So I googled a lot but i'm no closer to understanding. I did a factory reset just from the settings menu but that didn't work. What does repartition do?

Repartition will effectively wipe your entire phone (it repartitions the phone's memory).
Odin is a program used to flash (install) firmwares, both custom and stock ones. Tutorials are everywhere, please search.
Cool thanks for that, I guess the problem I had with understanding is what am I flashing? The stock firmware? Because isn't that what kies just did (albeit without the repartition). Seems like a pain to find the stock firmware since I just got it from Samsung ota

It's either that or you root and then unroot (no idea how to do that one).
http://www.samfirmware.com/ has firmwares. If you flash a Froyo one (repartition checked), you could then update again via Kies. This will give you an absolute stock phone (including the loss of all your information via the repartitioning).
Have you tried going to the market finding the super user app and trying to click uninstall from there. Im guessing you tried the normal way...
Hey guys i really need some help. I tried to install clockworkmod on my T-mobile samsung galaxy s (sgh-t959v) and i guess i bricked it. All that comes out on the screen is a phone and a computer. can someone pls tell me what to do to fix this and install the right way.
Thank you in advance
Fairly new to all this myself and don't have experience with T-Mobile but if you go here you should be able to get a Firmware for your phone: http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=SGH-T959V&r=5#regiona
You should be able to download a stock firmware, odin & everything else you need to flash your stock firmware. From this site.
Perhaps wait and see other responses though as there maybe a way to fix without flashing a stock firmware. Also getting some info from someone with your phone on T-Mobile may be better.

Just confirming that what scubadude said above. Flash new firmware, it is a soft-brick and therefore recoverable. Something that needs to be added however is that you will need to make a login in-order to access the direct link. If the link still doesn't work after that then click firmware and follow on from there..

You need to get the official stock odin flash N910T NJ7
firmware which can be found at http://SamMobile.com
Then you need to put the phone into download mode,
connect usb cable and flash the firmware using odin.
That's about all there is to it, you will end up with a
stock un-rooted phone.
Good luck!
