I have been a Samsung user for many years but the price is getting too much now. Really like the sound of the Mi Pro phones.
Do these Xiaomi phones do what the Samsung does like tethering and on the Galaxy phone you have Bixby routines which i use to auto switch on tethering when getting in the car (connects to Bluetooth) etc.
Is there any major software differences to be aware of?
Thanks

Hello guys,
This will be my first post on XDA. I have been reading the forum for quite a while even though I am currently using an Apple device. I have used both Android and iOS devices, and acknowledge their pros and cons.
I have always liked to mod my devices (this goes as far back to my Sony Ericsson K550i). This includes jailbreaking iOS and fiddling with Cydia tweaks and Android rooting, flashing custom roms etc. I am posting this in the OnePlus 3T forum (because I am considering to buy it) but it applies generally to all Android devices. So my question is:
-Does the OnePlus 3T sync volume with bluetooth devices the way iOS devices do (the phone controls the volume on the device and the device can control back the volume of the phone)?
I am asking because I am using bluetooth devices all the time (bluetooth headphones and speakers) and the Android devices that I have tested so far do not support that feature. It usually goes like that: you have to set up the volume of the phone and the bluetooth device separately and with many devices this causes not only inconvenience, but also worse performance (i.e. if you set the device all the way up there is an audible hiss, or the DSP is not working properly depending on the volume level). If it isn't a built in feature, can it be added somehow (fiddling with system files, flashing something, installing something additional)?
So far this is one of the major things that is holding me back onto my old jailbroken 5c (iOS 8.4) . I really hope there is a nice solution
Most Android devices on Android 6.0 and above should natively supported Bluetooth volume syncing. Though I find that this only applies to reasonably modern Bluetooth devices. While my Bluetooth headphones (~3 years old on BT4.0) can control my phone's volume fine, my 4 year old Bluetooth speaker cannot (5 yo, BT2 or 3?).

I read that they introduced the feature in 6.0.1 but then removed it in some version of Nougat + introduced volume reset (to 50%) when you connect to a known device. I tried my roommate's Galaxy A5 (running 6.0.1) with my Sony XB3 and it wasn't syncing the volume. Now I have replaced the XB3 for JBL Charge 3 and will check it out as well but I feel that the bluetooth implementation is a bit hit and miss. I mostly care about the JBL Charge 3 (Bluetooth v4.1) and Jabra Revo Wireless (Bluetooth v3.0) volume sync.
I use an app called Trigger (much weaker version of Tasker) to change the Bluetooth volume to the ideal level for each Bluetooth device I connect.
On two occasions now, my headset's volume fell out of sync. I'm not sure what caused it, but re-pairing fixed the issue.

I did further research on the topic. It appears that the problem lies in AVRCP and more specifically the version that Google uses in Android (1.3). It hasn't been updated for years and it is still the same
even in the latest Nougat. This is a topic that I managed to find out: code google com/p/android/issues/detail?id=186433 (insert dots because I cannot post links before reaching 10 posts)
It is really a shame that Apple devices have been supporting the newer revisions for so many years and that Google doesn't give a damn about it. Since this is XDA Developers can someone come up
with a solution for the problem that can be implemented on different Android devices? Please
My Jaybird X3 adjusts the volume in sync on my 3T running OOS Nougat, but on my Moto X Pure running Marshmallow, I have to adjust the phone and Bluetooth volume separately, which was annoying.
I never tested it on OOS Marshmallow though.
Has anyone had any success using a Samsung Gear Sport/S3/Frontier with their Nokia 8? I bought a Gear Sport without realising that this Nokia flagship phone, only to find it will not complete the pairing process with the watch. Plenty of other non-Samsung Android phones work the Samsung Gear devices, yet Nokias sit in an odd niche that does not support them.
Really annoying because the device is really quite nice, just the odd idiosyncrasies of the Nokia 8 stopping it from working. Must be something to do with the Bluetooth implementation (where else have we see corner cutting in that department...AptX anyone?)
I use gear s2(predecessor) with Nokia 8 and don't have any issue so far. Software wise it should be similar to gear s3

Same here... I bought Gear S3 a week ago but I can't complete the pairing process with my Nokia 8. I tried every method and solution I could find but still no success :crying:. I hear there are issues with car bluetooth conectivity as well. I just hope that Pie will fix this. I am getting very frustrated with this phone!

sucks that you're having the same! I'm going to hold out for Pie to see if it helps (should be here very soon!) And if it doesn't help trade up to a Galaxy S8 for guaranteed compatibility!

Since Pie beta OTA update everything is working as it should. Watch automatically reconnects to phone after time away from it, all notifications are seamless and it functions perfectly! Setup worked first time after the update.

What about the app support?
Does it have apps like in wear OS?

Has Spotify with offline music support (unlike WearOS) so it can play directly to headphones.
It also has Strava, which is good for workout tracking.
This is where my app usage ends!
It does have apps, but I'd recommend reading/watching reviews to see if it has what you need as I think it has fewer than WearOS. What it does have, however, is far better battery life than any current WearOS device could possibly hope for.
I managed to add three remote control profiles into my M20P, click on customise in huawei smart remote app and start adding..have fun.
Make sure you place remote ir close to about 2 cm to phone ir. Also you don't have to press and hold for 2 seconds, just press once and it will be registered. Remember to save before using the smart remote otherwise you will have to reprogram it again. Also reprogram buttons if they don't work after programming.
Nothing surprising, both the Mate 10 Pro and the Mate 9 Pro, and I guess some previous ones, did it as well. It's one thing I always liked about Huawei phones, with the other major brands abandoning the IR port. WiFi is the future, but IR is still needed by a lot of devices. The only downside is that it's able to learn just in the native app, forget about make it learn signals in other apps supporting signal learning like AnyMote. Unless Huawei recently opened its APIs, which I doubt.
I agree it's very handy. I can control my room's light/ventilator, my PC's 2.1 sound system, my Headphones Amp and pretty much everything else.
I thought I'd create a topic dedicated to this.
Please chime in on this thread if you have the following scenario:
A Galaxy Note 9 (Snapdragon) - SM-N960U
Your Note 9 is updated to PIE via OTA
A Double-din head unit
Are using Android Auto
Your connection to Android Auto is wireless - No USB Connections
If you meet these conditions, what head unit are you using? Please also detail the quality of the wireless connection. vs wired.
I'm interested in Wireless Android Auto for my note 9, but I also do not want to suffer a massive drop in sound quality, like I do with my current Bluetooth setup, which is currently tape deck to aux (my main problem there in terms of sound quality), then aux to Bluetooth.
I have a Note 9 (N960F) and my head unit has Android Auto but sadly have to have USB plugged in. Would love to not have to if possible
I happened to see this Article on Yahoo! News. As a disclaimer, the title looks like it was written by a drunk person.
Samsung Galaxy and Note phones now support wireless Android Auto
In otherwords, I'm scratching my head, wondering why it's worded "Samsung Galaxy and Note phones", since Note Phones are also Samsung Galaxy.
Phone (updated to firmware 124) have problem with several NFC source. Have option for "running application is preferred", but this isn't working. For example default NFC payment is Google Pay. Another application can't pay. Phone haven't reaction if another payment application running on the top.
Same with Gluco Navi NFC - glucometer. Fully compatible with S health, on the S7 working without any problem. On P30 Pro only beep and vibrate, but data isn't transferred.
Same is very very poor compatibility with Samsung Gear S3. Yes, Huawei watch is in package - but clearly - this isn't really comparable watch (only up time is very nice).

Can't say much about NFC as I use Samsung pay but I do have the p30 pro connected with my Galaxy Watch 46mm LTE and everything that worked on my s10+ works splendid with the p30 pro. Absolutely everything.
