1. Download Redmi System Manager (non Root) from Play Store
2. search youtube app from the System manager
3. deactivate youtube app
afterwards youtube vanced is the default app or at least system will ask open with XYZ and you set as default vanced

You need to try clearing the default actions of all your gallery apps or apps you think are related in settings --> apps
You will not lose data if you select 'clear defaults'
Sent from my Nexus 7
Most of the related apps have the "clear defaults" option dimmed :S

Then they don't have default actions set
So it didn't work?

XZ2 1440p

Hello !
Has anyone been able to watch 1440p videos on YouTube with the phone ?
From what I know we should be able to do it since the declared rez is 1080x2160 which means 1440p ..
I've already tried to clear YouTube cache and I've also tired to find any related setting in the Settings menu.
The video I' using as reference is this and I'm connected on WI-FI) : https://youtu.be/Bey4XXJAqS8
I also noticed this problem...have u find a solution?

Not yet .. I've tried several things but to no avail.. Maybe one of those moded YouTube apps can help but I won't take that risk ...
Maybe a YouTube will add support for our phone or something ...
Btw I'm using a H8266 XZ2 which I assume is the European version since I live on the Old Continent

Hi did it work was you able to override the resolution
Thanks
This screen is full HD 1080p, you will never have option of 1440p in YouTube. You can try anything it will not work.
Sent from my H8266 using XDA Premium HD app
Yep, screen is FHD, or as they like it called, FHD+ which means that shorter edge is still 1080px so it's still 1080p. There's no way to watch 1440p in YouTube because you need a screen with higher resolution for that.

YouTube app crashes

I have rooted my G5 plus, added xposed installer and the YouTube background playback mod but the YouTube app started crashing soo I deactivated the playback mod and uninstalled it but the app still keeps crashing. The app crashes as soon as I open it and reinstalling keeps it stable for few days and then it's back to crashing. Any solutions? I would love to keep the background playback mod too if it's possible (YouTube red isn't available here soo I guess ethically not a problem )

I agree with previous post, but if you don't know: YouTube Vanced is a Magisk add-on module so you need to be rooted with Magisk to use it (not SuperSU). Go to Downloads in the Magisk menu and scroll all the way down to find it, there are two versions - regular/white themed and black themed. I think the xposed version mod may be outdated so can be detected as "cheating" and messed up by playstore services/google from working correctly which may explain the crashing. The Magisk version is frequently updated to get around that and latest I'm using now is dated June 23 2018.

p30 pro microg and youtube vanced problem.

hi guys,
i hope i am in the right section here. i have a problem logging in into my google account using microg for using youtube vanced without ads.
i am able to enter my google account and passwort, but it does not login. so i cant use youtube vanced with my credetials.
on all other android phones i have, it works fine without any problem. also on my p20pro. only on my p30 pro, i do face this problem. tried different versions of microg.
can anyone help me to find a solution?
thanks alot
Disable Chrome browser, log into YouTube vanced and then you can enable Chrome again. That worked for me.
Is it me or do ads at start of a video still find a way to play?
