XZ1 Compact Part - Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact Questions & Answers

Hello everyone!
I got a used XZ1 compact for Christmas, and I plan on doing some upgrades / replacing parts.
The back of mine is showing a bit of wear, but I can't find anywhere to buy a new housing. Also I need to replace the screen as it has some minor discoloration on the edges.
Does anyone know where I could get parts, especially the frame/housing for the black version?
Thanks.

Might be that you have to get a 'for sale parts only' off ebay.
I do think you're setting yourself a huge task though, these units are literally glued together, you need a heat gun to get things apart, possibly damaging components. The amount of effort required to get rid of a couple of scratches and a bit of a tint on the corners of the screen seems out of proportion with the rewards.
Even if you do manage to get it all back in the case and working, it'll never ever look the same again.
If you're that worried about looks, save up and get a new one.

Here you have some info about the screen:
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Sony+Xperia+XZ1+Compact+LCD+Screen+Replacement/101926
*Also there is a link to buy the screen on witrigs.com
For the back this solution is quite cheap and stylish:

How hard is it to change the Xperia housing?

Hi,
I'm asking for some guidance from the people who have actually changed their housing on the Xperia.
I bought a silver one with some cracks, and some marks on the housing. However, €60 for a brand new black housing would be a good deal for me, as long as I would manage to replace it succesfully.
I changed the housing on my SE P1i from the silver one to a black one before, and already found that quite hard, and now that I've seen the instruction video and read the service manual on how to change the housing, I'm a bit hesitant about replacing it, in the fear that I would break my new €200 smartphone.
So, have any of you done this, how hard was it, and how much experience did you already have dis- and reassembling phones?
Also: Did any of you manage to break anything in the process?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad English,
Ed Banger

I think you can get complete housing for approx $100 if you shop around. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....Category=20345&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=1
Hi I also would like to change my housing because of some cracks, this is my first time. so will it be really difficult for a newbie?
also, where to buy to get the cheapest yet legit?
I found this cnn.cn is it safe everyone? it currently offers 79.99 USD for the full housing. is that the market price? thanks guys.
I changed a lot of phone houses and the one of xperia is easyer than nokia ones. if you follow the instructial movie on youtube you will not have any problem there are some dificult places.
here read this thread its posted by Crank1 its his experiance with changing the housing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550258
80 Dollar is the market price i think the cheaper ones are used or not originaly SE housing.
goog luck with changin the housing.
thanks for the reply, now its quite a dilemma which one I should buy, the used one is 43AUD while the new one is almost 100AUD. Is the new one really worth it? The used one description says its fascia while the 100AUD is OEM. any suggestion would be great. thanks
much harder than it looks

Yhea i beat yha
I did buy a new housing for 80$ and i did get buy a hard case for preventing it getting scratches.
so what did you do, you gonna give it a try?
80$ for housing, it must be gold housing to be charged at the price,
seriously, checkout ebay, amazon they offer lots cheaper.
i would pay $20 for housing only
Ive done a few already, not too hard if you know what you doing and be careful.
I have changed the housing of my Xperia partly. Read the story here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4403612&postcount=14
It's quite easy if the housing fits well, the cheap housing does not fit very well....
hey guys... i dont really want to change my housing cause its more or less 100%...
HOWEVER i have a slight problem with the screen not being tight (mate has the black one and apparently they dont have the problem - and i can feel his one doesnt move a mm when its extended... whereas mine has a slight give)
whats the best method to tighten it?
(will it be obvious when i pry it apart?)

[Q] Searching for 100% OEM screen replacement for XZ

Hi folks,
I accidentally dropped my XZ and - as it is in those situations - it dropped right on the pointy edge of my desk! I ended up with completely broken screen Of course that I have removed the anti-shatter film which might prevent edge of my desk to make a hole in the screen stupid!!!) and applied olephobic screen protector which teared down like it wasn't there.
Now, I looking to buy replacement screen. It has to be 100% original Sony. I don't want any cheap replacement. I found 2 stores and I'm not sure weather it is original.
Store 1
Store 2
Did someone bought in the past any replacement screen for SONY flagships, and from which store? Please advise me from which store to buy the screen.
Thank you.. Very sad XZ owner

The clues in the name OEM Sony Xperia Z L36h LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly, but I would go with the first site as you can verify the site (on right of page), the other one I'm dubious about.

Yeah I red OEM, but this is the cheapest screen assembly on the web! I'm little suspicious about authenticity of this site. Did someone bought screen from it?
Also are prices dropping with time? I understand that XZ is new on the market and there are few replacement parts for it, so they are expensive now. What do you think how long will screen hold its current price?

Cracked screen

Hey,
My Xperia Z cracked while laying on my bed. I've read all the topics about the design flow, is it worth to try and get the phone repaired under warranty in Australia? The glass isn't cracked, only the digitizer(lcd looks fine).
Otherwise, has anyone tried screen assembly with frame kit? There are some on ebay from china but the pictures don't really show the quality of the frame so I'm wondering if it's any good.
What about adhevise, what should I use to keep the parts together? Probably I can forget about waterproofness?
Thanks in advance

I believe the digitizer and lcd are fused together and cannot be replaced independently of each other.
This is very common with new phone as it helps keep the display assembly thinner and improves the IQ of the screen.
You have to buy an entire display assembly and replace the whole thing.

Called Sony Au today, they told me that they charge 40 aud for examination of the phone and u have to send the phone to Sydney. Told me that they have never repaired cracked screen in sony xperia z under the warranty and the cost is bit under 500..haha. I used to love sony but not anymore!

[Q] Guide: Xperia V disassembly, how to repair broken display?

Hi,
the touch screen of my Xperia V is broken and I'd like to replace it myself. It's not the first time for me that I repair a mobile device myself, but without a disassembly guide, it is difficult for me to identify the parts that are fixed by glue. I don't want to break anything that is still working.
I already found a russian video on YouTube, but it seems to me that the display is not taken apart from the other parts of the device.
Has anyone here done it before?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I've managed to remove the display. Mainly because it was really damaged ... heating the display and "bending" with a small tool.
It's really hard as the glue is quite strong. As my replacement screen is "on it's way" I'm not able to finalize the work.
I'm kind of stuck in the part when removing the "middle, plastic" part...
display is connected to body with really strong glue. Remember that it is impossible to remove old display without breaking it. Second thing is that with new display the phone most likely will not be waterproof

Hi! I broke mine last night. How did your repair go when the part arrived? I also could only find the russian video without the screen being removed
How hot did you have to make the screen? I was thinking of using an iron with a cloth around it.
Hi Folks, I'm curious to hear how others are going - I managed to break my screen this last week, Hoping to replace it but so far taking out that glass seems to be a tricky thing - any suggestions? How did the iron and cloth go?

There's no way.... You need to buy a new housing with the LCD and touchscreen built in, and then move all your bits over. That's why the russian video of the guy removing everything doesn't remove the screen.

I just ordered this: http://www.parts4repair.com/complete-screen-assembly-for-sony-xperia-v-lt25i/ I will see how that goes. I got tired of using my old SG1 so it's time to fix the V...
Good luck. Careful with the tiny, white antennae cable running from the main board to the bottom. I twisted mine a little bit too much and the connector popped off. I had to go get a new one with much difficulty.

I replaced the screen - had it working for two days and dropped it again - cracked screen, doesn't even light up.
I now have another replacement screen and a better case - at least now I'm getting quicker at taking the phone apart....

Hi this wont work, I went through the exact same issue, and its impossible to attach the new screen properly. your best bet is to try and find a second hand screen via ebay. it has to have the "housing part with it. otherwise you are wasting your time. it cost me so much to fix mine as I ordered two screens in the end I could have bought a new phone on special....
Try Ebay, and make sure you see the one with the screen and front housing on, I am unable to port the correct link on here as I haven't made 10 posts yet.
Search for the following on ebay : Genuine Sony Ericsson Xperia V LT25i front+digitizer touch screen+LCD display
This should let you find the correct screen
Look at the picture you will see the side housing for the front is also installed, the one you have ordered is the incorrect one as its only the LCD and the Digitzer, without the front housing that it gets "glued" onto. You can see the main difference where the earpiece is its shown as black, hence the mesh is there. that would be the correct one to order. Unless you have the means of getting yours glued back on the same way as the factory, I see you will struggle to get it done otherwise.

Question Broken screen

Hi everyone,
After 1 and half years my screen has broke yesterday, it fell a stupid fall on charger and broke from top speaker side, even though screen protector is on and case is on. It is what it is.
I am not planning to replace this device, I'll fix screen, so any recommendations? Anyone experienced screen replacement? Did you send it back to supplier or you replaced it your self?
Should I get screen replacement with frame or just screen and I keep my frame?( Not a scratch on my frame). Any place you recommend to get new screen?
Should I use T7000 glue or is there something better?
Any advises to consider while fixing it?
Any comment is appreciated.
My first question would be, have you ever done a screen replacement before? Because if you haven't then I'll recommend taking it to a reputable repair shop nearby considering you are not planning to buy another phone. Also just get the screen fixed no point in changing the frame as you said it's in good shape. But if you really wanna experience the bliss and accomplishment that is fixing your own device then always follow IFixIt guides and before opening it up or ordering parts read about your device's repairability. Also asking your friends and other people around you for a good repair shop would be a good idea.

Hi,
regarding your first question, not for a mobile phone, because i know how to take care of my stuff, except this time (sigh). but of course i've done it for a laptop of my friend, and many many many electrical fixes. so do not worry about me doing it my self as it is my thing to do things my self.
regarding asking about the frame, i am asking this just to see if any one experienced replacing it without frame and how well was it sealed compared to pre and properly sealed. got my point?
Thanks for your valuable advice,

Okay, this means that it'll be easy for you to repair your device, as for the frame I think you can buy a silicone seal as well and comes in a plastic case so it'll be easy to line it up, even If it doesn't you can buy sealing glue and do it yourself, it'll definitely be much cheaper than getting the whole frame. I do get your point now.

My question now is that the MI 11U has an AMOLED display that is really good like HDR10+, 1Billion colors, Dolby vision and, 1700 nits peak brightness, where did you find a screen this inexpensive for $20 aud?

Oh okay, I thought it was weird, I hope you're able to fix your device and 20-35 would certainly be worth it if it did make the repair convenient for you.
