Dead Note 9 "working" again won't boot - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Two months ago my Note 9 took a bath in seawater, I got it to a repair shop in the country I was in and the guy tried to fix it but ended up just drying it a bit.
Phone still wasn't working and two months late I was thinking about getting recycled, plugged it and it started as nothing happened but it boot loops.
So I tried flashing a rom with odin, it took hours (super slow) and Failed in the end.
I went to a repair shop and they didn't want to touch anything telling me that it was way too corroded to do anything with it.
So now I have this Note 9 that connects to my computer as it used to and seems to be doing fine aside from the fact that the storage is probably dead.
Samsung wouldn't accept it for a trade-up would they?

You said it seems to be doing fine but said it boot loops and will not flash firmware and its corroded? So does it work? Boot up? You say it seems fine but then say it doesnt work. I dont think you can trade such a severely damaged device

you should have washed your phone with Isopropyl Alcohol after taking it apart. any way, you can try this now. open your phone if you cannot, go to any phone repair shop and ask them to wash it with Isopropyl Alcohol. you may get your working phone again.

Yeah, my bet is that the memory chip connections have corroded, or something that effects the memory chips. would need to be disassembled and Iso cleaned at the least, chips might have to be re-soldered to the board at the worst.

Bricking Time!

Well, I guess is not so ethical what Im going to ask...
But, last mont my phone touchscreen stopped responding, going to service, 15 days without phone, phone working fine again.
After less than a week, touchscreen stop working again, back to service, phone working again.
What happen yesterday? touchscreen isnt working again
I wont deal with an obviously faulty phone again.
So, I want to kill it completely. I dont know if there is a way to kill even fastboot, but if anyone can help me, It will be great. Looks like it's the only way to get a proper replacement from moto
Doesn't sound like a good idea, , They'll proooooobably know if you been messing with it.

So don't... Tell them what kind of hassle you've already been through and that you want a replacement. If you have insurance, break the screen. Usually they don't ask what happened but if they do tell them your a contractor and you were doing some heavy lifting and it broke in your pocket.
Thanks for your answers.
Im not in the US. Here moto can hold your phone in repair for a maximum of 3 months
They dont care if you are dealing with service for the second or third time.
I guess I´ll use the hard way. It wont be so difficult
A buddy at work is a real phone whore and like to get a new one every few month. he takes a car battery and 2 wires and touches the battery contacts on the phone to fry the board.
Just touch it for a second or you'll get burn marks. Phone will be DEAD and there is no way for them to tell you did it...

crispy Droid 3 ..
here in mexico, my mom had a motorola cliq that had problems with the board (it crashed even after wipe without modding) sent it back returned (they just reflashed it) happened again and sent it back and they just reflashed it. this time i rooted and updated firmware. but anyway it failed again. sent it back (with sbf of original ) the they just re flashed the unit..
one more time it went back and for the most time (3 weeks ) it was well
on every call to support i told them that the problem was the board in the phone.
one fourth time sent it back and finally got the board replaced ... (this time imei was different but housing was the same.
i was very happy until i noted they closed the phone housing badly wrong .. but it was working. then it failed again but this time it was a new error. keyboard lights died because of a FRIED Sensor. but it was working.
but as using it at night was impossible. i returned it and as i had sent it back so many times they changed my phone (my mom didnt want another Motorola for now) for a Nokia N97 (i'm talking 2 years ago when android wasn't as popular as it is today.
today. my mom still has that phone. always trustworthy Nokia phone.
anyway wht im saying is that keep sending it back until they change at least the board or the screen.. but well
have you tried reflashing?

Finally, i got hard bricked...

Hello. Sorry for my english.
I've been living on the edge, like many of us LOL, and i finally got hard bricked. No battery charge, logo, download mode. Nothing. Just a black screen.
I was using ICS stunner 1.4.26 and decided to flash Catastrophic Meltdown 9 (CM9 for friends). The problems was that my battery died when it was installing the kernel, or the boot, i dont know.
So, i have been reading a lot those days but nothing seems to work. I have ordered a Jig but i think is not going to work. Yesterday i used windows, and something was detected when i plugged in the usb, but Odin not.Today it does not work, and windows doesnt play any sound. Any idea? A Jag?
I should say this is the best mobile phone i have ever touched. I would be eternal grateful with all of you if we could fix this mess. I was aware that there were risks. Im aware now maybe i cant fixit and im not gonna blame anyone because it was my responsability, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Same thing happened to me, nothing worked (tried the JIG). I had to send it in for repair, but they didn't see that it was my fault (still had warranty).

From my experience the only way u can get ur phone back in service is go to ssc and make some reasonable reason why ur phone is dead, so u can still claim for warranty and I am sure they will replace ur engine/mobo like my friends did a month ago.

It has nothing to do with your battery dying and everything with trying to flash CM9 directly from super-dangerous LP5 or LP6 leak ICS kernel.
No jig or JTag will revive your phone now.
However, if your Note refuses to go into download or recovery mode, you are in luck - if you have a warranty, that is. Just take your phone to the service center and tell them that it died when updating via Kies. There is no way for them to tell what had really happened and they will have to replace your motherboard free of charge.
Sadly, jig didnt solve the problem. Battery isnt hot when plugged in, is my motherboard fried by flashing the note?
Could a jtag solve the problem?
Try to take it back in for warranty before attempting a JTAG and voiding the warranty (that they can tell)

Yeah, that's a classic superbrick, need replacement mobo. Sorry dude. As mentioned just say you were updating ics ota or through kies.

I got the same problem few days back..I went to service center and said that i got an ota update and after downloading had completed,it started rebooting and there i got some errors and finally my phone is dead
They were unable to find the exact reason why it got bricked as it was unable to enter download or recovery mode
So they replaced the motherboard under warrenty
Better this it once
All the best :good:
I dont think that warranty thing is gonna work, because i have lost some inside cover screws... yeah, thats a long story trying to fix it. If i borrow a motherboard... could i recover my data? because thats all i want at the moment. Or, is there any website where i can buy it? Otherwise, im going to try it with the warranty...

What cover screws??
If you change your motherboard, you will lose all your data
I just came back from the service center and they are covering it under warranty . Similar symptoms and they are going to replace the whole board. Just take it to the service center and say "Yo man your **** died on it own" :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Is it lost?

I dropped my galaxy GT-I9100 in water during my vacation. The next few hours all function returned and I used it for a full week. When I returned at hom I re-flashed the phone with I9300_Omega_v45.1_XXUFME3_md5_2588F4A59718C762E44E5DAE8C3380EB.zip Then almost nothing worked any more. It is stuck in boot. No recovery mode possible. Downloadmode is working (on screen in this mode: Odin mode, Product name: GT-i9100, Custom Binary download: no, current binary: samsung official). But it is not possible for me to connect with the pc and use Odin. Tried different cables and PC's.
In despair I brought the phone to a repair centre. They gave it a treatment against moisture. But they could not connect to the PC either. Even after renewing the USB port. They gave me the advise not to send it to Samsung because of the waterdrop. (to expensive).
Is it lost? Or ........?????
if someone here drop their fone in some....water, MAKE SURE take out battery n etc n dry it completely first (exactly one week without booting) to make sure board completely DRY before using

Wait, just to clarify,
So
1.) You have an I9100 (Galaxy SII)
And
2.) You flashed Omega rom (which is a Galaxy S3 rom)?
To help with the water damage, if you removed the phone immediately it should still be fine. Take the battery out, wipe down what you can with a towel, leave it for some time to dry. Put it in with some rice for a day, the rice acts as a moisture absorber. See if that fixes anything. Worst comes to worst, tear down the phone and check the water damage indicator. It should be a little coloured strip behind the internal back cover that turns pink (I think?) when water damage has been detected.
Although... If you flashed a rom made for the S3 onto the S2... Unless the same zip can be installed on the S2 maybe the problem doesn't lie with water damage at all...

1) Yes
2) Yes
I immediately removed the battery. Wiped it. And let it dry in the Israelian sun (on vacation). All functions came back and the telephone worked fine. At home (after a week) I flashed the wrong Rom and the problems begun. The repair service has given the phone a anti moisture treatment but didn't succeed to solve the problem of the wrong Rom

Yeah, this can happen when you try flash a rom specifically for another device... There have been cases where the phone is killed completely...
Water damage, if treated quickly enough, won't affect your phone too much. One time my phone was half-submerged in water, with the microphone end in the water. Screwed up my home button for a few days, but now its fine.
Your problem here is flashing a rom for the wrong device (I thought the SII had its own version of Omega? Could be wrong). And that leads to much more serious problems.

GALAXY Note 4 SM-N910H 5.1.1 Superheating

I have updated to Android 5.1.1 Stock version hours ago and it has two big problems:
1- It has the superheating problem so bad that I could fry eggs on it.
2- It super buggy and slow nad sluggish. It hangs when you want to move between the pages.
Also, I don't know why but I think that everything is super bright and it hurts eyes.
did you do a clen install? or a dirty one?
Factory reset will fix you're issues
Not for me. I did not do hard reset but everything is working fine.

I have the N910C and same thing happened to me.. i did everything i know but my mobile dont cooldown.. everything is hot, the screen, the sides, the back.. i check the temp using cpu-z and says 43-45° only.. i downgraded to 5.0.1 but still the problem is there. Then i decided to show it to a technician.. he also found out that if i take out the battery and turn on again, it wont turn on unless it will be plugged to a charger.. he said that the power IC was damaged and it is a problem of a lot of note 4's. I dont know what to do anymore. I already lost my warranty due to rooting.. please any help?

Ask the technician to remove the broken PMIC (power management Intergrated Circuit) and replace it with a new one, he probably has the skills and tools to do it, i also do it at our shop, it's not that hard. And it would be a pretty cheap repair too since the cost of those chips is usually around $5.
Or you can try brick it so it does nothing at all anymore and send it for warranty. If it's dead they can't check your knox status.

Lumia 1520 keeps rebooting forever

I can get it work for a while after reinstalling the firmware or after a hard reset. Then when I open the settings it keeps rebooting up to 20 times then it stops rebooting when I take the phone and open anything it reboots again and again. I reinstalled the firmware and did hard reset many times. Any Idea what to do? Thank you!
I've just flashed a firmware for another country, nothing changed. Same old boot loop... It worked very good for 6 months. Whatever happened, happened on the day I downloaded Here Maps...
I will try to flash another rom and that's it... If it doesn't work I will not touch the phone until windows phone 10 is out...
If phone is connected to a malfunctioned charger it will try to stop connection with reboots!
Try a new one. Finally use NSU for retail to find a suitable ROM , i mean ORIGINAL rom, for your phone
Thank you for your answer.
I sent the phone to Nokia Service Center because it never turned on again. They told me they would change the main board if I agreed on the price which was more expensive than a new phone's price. I told them I can buy 2 second hand phones with that money. They sent the phone back to me and I disassembled it myself. I think they never opened the phone because everything inside looked brand new. After trying little bit more I broke everything in it and I threw it in the trash. This way was a lot cheaper than their way.... At least I learned something. Never try to get anything repaired by Service centers. Just put it in the trash... I don't know why but I kept the camera...
