[Q] Torch & Music Player Problem

Just OTA updated to XXKL7 have no custom lockscreen/launcher/anything.
Bone stock added the Torch widget works great, a few hours pass and the icon does not function. If I re-add another Torch widget it and the new one will work. Strange.Any clue?
Also why does the stock Music player, keep the cutoff point, in a talk show or Book, but sometimes it doesnt remember and you need to scroll through and find out where u left off.
Any apps recommended?
Similar issue; at first torch light worked great, multiple levels, but now I only get either super bright no matter what level its at or off. I did change from stock kernel to FM 1.5, I wonder if that had any effect, will try flashing back.
---------- Post added at 01:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 AM ----------
Well that was easy. Back at stock KL7 kernel from sheeprom 2.0, and multi-level torch works now. I guess they added something into the kernel that FM kernel needs to add for the next update.

Lower Brightness

On Webos there was a tweak on preware that allowed the brightness to be set lower than what default webos allows, is there a way to do this on CM9?
if there is I would also like to know, reading using Google books is too bright at night even on the lowest setting.
JuiceDefender allows you to do this and what I use to read in bed. My lowest brightness is set to around what the night mode brightness is when you have it in the touchstone dock.
AdjBrightness allows you to set it to lower than the default minimum setting
I haven't put CM on my TP yet, but on other devices I use SuperDim from the market. (I guess it's called RootDim now...)

I use Coolreader as my ebook reader and it has an option for setting the background brightness clear down to 1%. Of course, this doesn't effect the brightness in other apps.
Thanks, AdjBrightness seems to work well on my touchpad. On my evo 3d I have to use screen filter as it seems the slider is the actual brightness level.
For me app called "screen filter" is the best.

How to make gnote screen less bright

Sometimes (wife & kids asleep, me not so much) i want to keep playing with my note in complete darkness and the lowest brightness setting is just too bright. Is there some tweak/mod to lower it even more?

there is in the build.prop file but doesnt seem to work.. atleast for me.
ro.lcd_min_brightness=40
may be some sort of app will do the job for you
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor&feature=search_result
PS: read review before trying
Yup, another vote for Screen Filter here, I use it every night, works very well.
I use manual brightness, lowest stock setting, and 20% on Screen Filter, for reading in darkness.
---------- Post added at 12:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:39 AM ----------
Oh, one other thing: at those settings, the screen will be almost unreadable in daylight, which can be a pain to recover from.
So I have a Tasker task setup to return Screen Filter to 100% at e.g. 7am.
This is just what I need. Thanks!
Great, thank you very much! Exactly what I needed! :good:
Just to add... at those low settings, colours will be washed out, and black crush evident. It's fine for reading, though.

How do I set and forget brightness before bed?

Hi guys, with my pixel 2 I used to set the brightness to zero before bed so I could check the phone during the night without become Ng blind.
With my new galaxy, I set the brightness to zero before bed, but if I check the phone during the night, it looks like a flashlight in my eyes and the slider has magically moved.
Is there any workaround for this?
Cheers!

try bixby routine to set brightness to 1% on bed time
or temporary disable AUTO brightness
---------- Post added at 09:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:27 PM ----------
there are also many app to control brightness with a custom curve ( lux sensor vs brightness % )

Refresh rate problem!

I tried to switch to 60hz from 144hz but when I try to switch it back to 144hz. Nothing happens. It's still on 60hz. On the status bar it shows 144hz it doesn't feel 144hz at all. It feels 60hz.
Edit: I tried to reboot and factory reset the phone it doesn't work as well
Edit 2: I found the culprit. When I have my brightness low it seem to lock at 60hz. What ever refresh rate I set it on (90hz, 120hz or 144hz) But when I adjust my brightness higher (40% atleast) it seems to fix the bug. But for someone like me who's not used to high brightness. This is a real problem.

Hi, it's working fine for me . Although I'm slightly concerned, on 60hz with just YouTube playing, very low brightness, the phone is on 35 degrees Celsius, is this normal ? ://

I have the same issue. If I switch to refresh rates other than 144 and then go back to 144Hz, the device locks at lower refresh rate. Because of this I had to reset my device but the same issue happened again. Did you or anyone find any solution?
PS: I'm on WW version and updated to latest update (3rd August, 2020) yesterday only.

Hi, Did your phone is CN version and flash WW Version? If yes, it can OTA update or manual update?

I am also facing similar issue. Refresh rate is toggle works for 60Hz,90Hz and 120Hz. When I set refresh rate to auto, it set refresh to 90Hz. If I set refresh rate to 144Hz , it set refresh rate to 120 Hz(status bar shows 144hz which I believe wrong). I am attaching screen shot of my buld version and test

Can you post here that you set the brightness to the lowest and set the refresh rate to 144hz and test it via UFO Test and displayhz.com and take a screenshot.

Auto refresh rate is bound to set the refresh rate to 90Hz and then increase it when you play a game. With 144 Hz, I'm also getting the ufotest max at 120Hz. But this was not the issue. The issue was, even though we set the refresh rate to 144Hz, the screen locks the refresh rate at 60Hz. If we use screeninfo android app or UFOTEST.com, then also, the refresh rate was showing 60Hz. I had to reset the phone. Currently, I'm not changing the refresh rate to lower ones as I'm afraid it might lock the refresh rate again at 60Hz.

Thanks a lot Sire . I thought I received a defective piece. Now I checked the refresh rate at higher brighness, then everything was fine. (Although at 144HZ also, the ufotest shows 120fps, but screeninfo app was showing 144Hz).
BTW, 'BLINK003' is this name inspired by Blackpink or something else?

I believe that was the limitation of the browser. Only selected users has that low brightness = 60hz bug. So weird.
