MI 9 Lite vibration noise - Xiaomi Mi CC9 / Mi 9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi!
Recently purchased MI 9 Lite and find the vibration noise loud. Don't know if it's normal, but coming from a Samsung S9 which was considerably quieter, it almost feels like something is loose inside the case. Look at this video and help me determine if it's normal or something wrong. Thanks!

[UPDATE]
The vibration/phone is definitely malfunctioning. Visited the store and tested and compared with their demo phone and it was a huge difference. The phone in the store didn't make any noise at all. Too bad the dead on arrival time is only 5 days. Now I need to send it to the repair shop och warranty. Feels pitt due to the fact the fault was there from start.

Is the Xiamoi Mi Mix 256gb / 6 GB RAM still worth it in 2018?

Hello,
I'm actually really in love with this phone... it has a huge 6.4" screen, it's nearly bezel-less, it looks great, the display looks awesome, it has 6 GB of ram.
If I think about it, actually there's nothing wrong with it.
But if I think longer about it, I have my concerns.
I'm from the EU, to be more specific - germany. And I know this phone doesn't support band 20 iirc, but that's not a huge problem for me.
I'm just not sure how it performs in the EU in other aspects.
For example, I've seen a review about the phone in the US in which the guy said that it has problems with google services like Gmail and the Google voice assistant not working properly.
On the other side, the video was from december 2016 - how much has changed until now in terms of software and compatibility to EU countries?
I know the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is already available and the 2S will be soon, but somehow I feel like those are "downgrades" and not really upgrades.
Of course, the hardware is better in Mi Mix 2 and 2S but the Design, Display etc. looks more like a downgrade.
What do you think?
Honestly one of the best phones I have ever had.
I have gone through 4 ?. I also had note 8 and iPhone X and I can promise you the phone is amazing. The one down side is the camera. It's not that bad but it's not up on par with what's out there today. But the screen size and battery is the best.
I have had them since day one that was launched and broke 2. Gave one to wife and kept 4th for me. Fixed one of the broken ones and have it as a backup.

Everything works as it should, ok Google from a screen off doesn't work as it doesn't have the hardware for that, for everything else ok Google works like any other phone. Nearly 2 years later they are still worth over 50% of what I paid.

But you broke them in a physical way right? Like, you dropped them?
I'm a bit afraid of buying the mi mix and having a faulty phone like dead pixels on the screen or something like this.

If you drop it, it's really easy to fix, 50 Euros for a new screen from AliExpress and they really are good quality, bought a s8+ but I am going to sell it, prefer the mix 18 months later.

Made by same manufacturers, just buy 1, especially if you are a developer:laugh:
If you use a good case you don't need to worry about it getting damaged. I broke 2 cuz I didn't have a case on them. but they were repairable. At the time I broke them, there were no parts, but now you can find all the parts and they are relatively cheap.
Alright, thanks!
And if I buy the chinese version of this phone, is it the same as the global version only with a chinese rom?
And can I flash the official global rom without any problems from here http://en.miui.com/download-317.html#471 ?
Yes. I have both and no difference between them.

What's the reason for you, that you prefer the Mi Mix over the S8+?
In terms of hardware, the S8+ should be the superior phone afaik - so I assume this is not the reason

Can't really answer that, even my wife says the mix is easier to use, might just be the wider screen.
But in the end, it's still a reliable phone?
It's just that head thing which makes me struggling. I would actually buy a 1 year 3 months old phone for ~450€. And there's already a Mi Mix 2... and soon a Mi Mix 2S
Currently I have a LG G2.
In terms of camera, is the Mi Mix better than my G2 from 2013 or ~same or even better? I heard that the camera is not really good, but that makes me thinking - maybe it's just not on pair with high end phones like S8+ / Note 8 so people know there's something better.
What I want to say is, maybe the Mi Mix's camera isn't that bad, just worse than S8 and co but still superior to older phones like mine.

If camera is your thing look elsewhere, it's improved with gcam but not the best.
So what you are telling me is, the camera has improved quality when I download the google camera app and take pictures with that?
I mean, I'm not a big camera guy. Of course, the one from S8 etc. makes great photos but that's not why I'm buying a smartphone.
If the cam is at least on the same level as the one in my G2 or a bit better, that's totally fine for me.
Also btw, do you know a good Etui for the Mi Mix + silicon bumper?
I bought a silicon bumper to protect it a bit when I'm using it (of course it doesn't make the phone drop-proofed, obviously), but I'm also not a huge fan of screen-protectors on phones.
That's why I need an etui where I can slide the phone it and put it in my pockets, so the screen is safe.
I found a few for the xiaomi mi mix, but the dimensions of them suggested that it would fit perfectly without bumper, but with one which adds ~1.1mm it could get really tight.
So I would need something with more space

The transparent cases work well, took it off for 1 day got drunk and broke the screen, they def protect the screen and stop it slipping out of hands. I got a scratch resistant one and it still looks like new.
I am a bit of a serial phone buyer and tend to change devices fairly often, but I have had the Mi Mix as my main device since last summer and can't see another device on the market that would be better for my needs.
The Good
- Official lineage support
- Huge screen with a 17:9 aspect ratio (better than 18:9 IMHO)
- Minimal bezels
- NFC for Android Pay (needs Magisk in Lineage)
- Great battery life
- Beautiful design
The Bad
- Camera quality (can be mitigated by installing the Google Pixel camera)
- No Band 20 (not an issue with my network)
I'm looking forward to the Mi Max 3 which should be announced in the late spring / early summer, but there isn't too much on the horizon which would make me want to swap out my Mi Mix 1.
I received my Mi Mix 1 today and I really like it.
But there's one negative aspect I noticed and I wanted to know if other users noticed it as well.
The screen is a bit blurry in motion imo compared to my G2.
For example on the homescreen when I slide the screen from left to right, the font of apps are getting somewhat blurry, so does the icon.
It's a bit like ghosting, like when the screen's response time is not that great.
Can anyone confirm this?
It's not extremely blurry and I probably can live with it, don't think it would be worth the hassle with gearbest especially if I don't know if it's just how the screen is.
Another thing, and that's pretty much personal preference, the screen is a bit yellowish on natural with read mode disabled.
Warm and natural are too yellowish for my taste, cold is way too bluish.
I couldn't find any option to adjust RGB myself.
Is there a way to do this?

Live my mi mix. Bought this case for it: http://s.aliexpress.com/y2miEjqM?fromSns=Clipboard
Sent from my Xiaomi Mi Mix using XDA Labs
I also was a guy that bought a new phone every 8 to 9 months. Until the mi mix that is. Honestly i now can't see myself buying another phone for another year or two. I stopped browsing the new phone news/specs loooong ago.
Would love a similar phone with sdcard and more bands. That is all.

About to Buy, Things I should be concerned/consider?

Hi Folks,
I'm thinking of buying this today evening as an interim replacement for my ageing and screen dead Galaxy S7.
Just want to know what should I be looking for, what issues this model has.
I'm contemplating between this and Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Thanks a bunch for your feedback.
wait for the pixel 3 lite
According to the info I've found online the pixel 3 lite will cost over twice what the a2 costs.

go for Redmi Note 7

If I were you, I would go for Redmi Note 5 Pro, the reason being the custom development being done there. For this Mi A2, if you can live with some software issues you should give it a try.
Redmi note 6 pro is purely based on aesthetics.
The issues I have with this phone (emphasis on I HAVE, not everyone):
> Sometimes, the lower cpu cluster get's stuck on 1401Mhz instead of going down to 633Mhz, which impacts the battery life but not by much. Rebooting it solves it temporarily until it get's stuck again.
> GPS went straight to garbage after the update to Android 9 Pie, sometimes I need to reboot the phone multiple times so I can use Waze or something.
> There is an issue regarding low Read/Write speeds on large chunks of data which may even cause the phone to reboot if you delete Chrome's cache or something like that. If the device doesn't reboot, it'll be unusable for several minutes.
> The proximity sensor isn't good, even after calibrating it multiple times occasionally the screen won't turn off during calls so I have to keep moving my head until it recognizes my face is near it.
> The vibrator motor is garbage, the phone makes a weird noise every time it vibrates, feels extremely cheap.
> The camera is good at best, but that's it. Coming from a Galaxy S7 it's almost certainly a downgrade. There are some bugs like the night mode which does nothing, slow motion freezes sometimes and it seems that the secondary camera is never used on auto mode, at least for me. Surprisingly Camera2API is disabled on this device, so root is needed to enable it and install Google Camera, which is way better.
> Xiaomi doesn't care much about this device, security updates are coming in late (like at the end of the month instead of the begining) and bugs are not getting fixed at all.
[?] I don't know if it's the phone itself or my wireless earbuds, but the bluetooth connectivity is very weak, even clothing makes the music chop a lot.
Apart from all that I like the device, considering that it was cheap and there isn't much competition at this price point. Here where I live I can only buy those awful Galaxy J's or Moto G's which are all way overpriced and underpowered (SD632 and SD636). It's a great buy if you can deal with some of those issues I pointed.

Touch Delay / Touch Jitter issue!

Hi! this is my first time to post about my Mi9T Pro (Global version) "6/128" that i bought yesterday here in Philippines..
my issue is only Noticeable in Playing Games like Competetive like "PUBG, Call of Duty, ROS, any Games! i think all of them ?? what i mean is.. a HUGE TOUCH DELAY!! when your 2 thumbs are on the Screen and your right Thumb swipe faster to rotate 360 is not that accurate.. i can really Feel it as a GAMER. i bought this Device more on GAMING, because of Notchless Design and AMOLED panel.
when i Play any Games i mean the Dragging on Screen Sensitivity when Scoping or Not. its not accurately going on point where i swipe my thumb.. for Example: i swipe upwards.. it goes upwards also but theres a shaking on Screen.. i cant AIM properly..
soo is there any solution on this?? can a Custom ROM or Kernel can fix this?? cause i will Unlock my Bootloader immidietly! i dont have Tempered Glass installed. only the stock Casing that are intack on the Phone.. nothing else..
soo i need your advice! im currently on 10.3.3.0 (PFKMIXM) version. latest Stable
Sadly, the touchscreen on this phone is terrible. Let's hope the new MIUI 11 software update coming in the next few weeks would solve the issue.
i dont think Android 10 can solve this..
its a hardware issue and common problem in all xiaomi device , just a matter if you are affected or not . i guess its all because of cheap low quality touch panel to cutting cost.
Did you solve this issue???? Im buy MI 9T pro and play CODM too. I also meet your problem
A) Take it back and get a new one; or
B) request a warranty repair.
However, if it's not purchased from an "authorized reseller" Xiaomi will avoid taking any responsibility for the problem. They did the same to me with the Redmi 5 Plus - widely known touchpanel fault - 100% manufacturer issue, zero help. Tons of users of that device have all manner of input freezes.
At the end of the day what matters is that you're happy with it - after all, it's your money. Make sure the seller takes you seriously. With issues like this it can be a pain to get sorted - as the phone might appear and be perceived as working "normally" but evidently the touchscreen isn't behaving ideally in videogames. Given you bought a high-end phone specifically for this purpose, make sure they take it seriously.
If the replacement handset still suffers the same issue you're describing then I'd suggest getting a refund altogether if possible. I can't say I've had issues here and I tried PUBG mobile which works fine (albeit the touchscreen controls don't feel natural anyway) - but as someone whom is very perceptive to faults other people don't notice (like frame jitter, ghosting, screen bleed, dead pixels or crappy acoustics) it can really grind my gears when tech products don't hit the mark. You need to make sure it suits your needs - it is, after all, a 'flagship-type' phone. If PUBG mobile doesn't feel right on another BNIB Mi9T Pro then it might be worth spending a little more and going for a OnePlus 7.
I recently had an expensive 'freescrolling' mouse that kept subtly scrolling up a few lines by itself after I scrolled down. You could live with it but I've not had that from even cheap Chinese mice.

Review required from Pyxis Users

Hello guys.
I sold my MI8 due to some undesireable circumstances, but it was one of the best phone i ever used
But now i am willing to buy MI 9 Lite and needs reviews from users of this device.
I saw a lot of videos on youtube with mixed remarks, some says good device, some says bad sound etc.
But as you use the device by yourself, what you guys think.
- Its performance / day to day and gaming
- Display quality
- and Most importantly Audio quality
- Is it still worth buying?
Thank you guys.
After 8 months of use, the impression is the same as on the first day, I have no problems. Super Amoled Display with Gorilla glass is extremely good I don't even have protection on the Display. I don't know what sound you meant, for listening to music or for talking. He's great for conversation. I don't play games so I don't know, but for everything else the processor is great. I don't know if I helped you but you have my recommendation
Послато са Mi 9 Lite помоћу Тапатока
I've bought one of these in December to replace my ageing Moto G4, and I've got to say that this is the best phone I've used so far. The performance is great for the usual web browsing and texting that I do. I can't say much about gaming because I'm playing just one game with some anime girls (Love Live!), but I guess it could handle PUBG or whatever people are playing nowadays. The display is excellent: AMOLED, 1080p, the notch is much smaller compared to the one on the Mi 8. Regarding audio quality... The speaker is decent. Not the best, but not bad either. The headphone quality over the 3.5mm jack is also very good, but the built-in equalizer app leaves a lot to be desired.
If it's available in your country, I would also suggest you looking at the Mi 9 SE. It's a smaller handset, but it has a slightly better CPU. But if you eventually go for the Mi 9 Lite, you would still make a good purchase.
Speaker poor on Miui, music sounds way better on Aosp with dual speaker mod, display great(72hz) stable for half a year, performance great, motor for vibration piece of crap, battery great 6-10 hours depend on usage, thermal performance great, camera great. Mi -rom, Masik, and all other have some new bug or glich in every release, they fix one bug and add two or three more so better stick with stock stable 11 or flash Evo x ?

-Audio is clear but not extra loud.. still very good for me
-ofc is still worth buying

Question Defect hands-free microphone?

With the speakerphone, others hear me terrible if I speak at a distance of one meter or more, it cuts my words.
At greater distances it is unusable.
I have already had it changed, the replacement model also has the same defect.
But few find this defect, any ideas?
In assistance they told me that it has no hardware problems and they encountered problems with the Vodafone VoLTE. But I doubt that the VoLTE can only affect the quality of the speakerphone at certain distances.
Try without a case. I have found that the thickness of the cases has a major effect on the quality of the voice from the mic's
I forgot, I don't use any cover, the phone I have it as well as Samsung did it.
Obviously already tried a hard reset, this second model had the defect just turned on without having set up any account.
Another thing I noticed: if I cover the main microphone during a hands-free call (I used some very simple adhesive tape), others hear me great even at 3-4 meters away.
It's like the noise reduction algorithm is canceling my voice.
For what it is worth, two people have commented on the poor quality of my speakerphone (I sound tinny and very hollow) and one of the review sites had this to say (and I doubt they were using a case):
" Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s call quality was very clear and relatively low in noise, at least as long as it was used on earphone. When used on speakerphone, on the other hand, the results were not as great, with a bit of a nasal twang and a microphone range that already started to show dropouts at arm’s length. "
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Smartphone Review: Improved in many ways, but not all - NotebookCheck.net Reviews
What I don't understand is why this defect is not found by everyone. There are users who manage to use the speakerphone even from 3-4 meters away.
Even if I raise my voice, a meter and a half is a disaster.
I have already had the device replaced once, but I have received one with the same defect.
Weird. I have the qualcomm version and no issues even 2 meters away
I have the Exynos version, Italian market
I guess there is no way to turn off noise reduction like on the older models, right !?
Not seeing it no. Perhaps it will be added later
Your description sounds like my problems with my Note 10+ Exynos a year ago. Low frequency sounds were kinda cut off and the sound was way worse than I've heard in the tests of that phone. That could be an old problem since I read that the stereo microphones keep to noise cancel each other. When I blocked the main microphone the sound quality of my recordings increased and so on. And no further option to control anything - typical Samsung.
That's right, the problem is just the same.
With the phone up to an arm away they understand me, beyond it becomes a big problem, at one meter - and a half meters they hear only a few syllables.
With all the other smartphones I have tried (iPhone 12 Mini, Redmi Note 9S, Samsung Galaxy A40) at the same distance they hear me perfectly, but I am sure it is the same with any other smartphone that is not a top of the Samsung range of the last 2 years.
In fact, this problem has been reported by several users on the Italian Samsung community already for the Note 10 and S20 series. Is it possible that even in other communities in other states there are no complaints about it?
This is the threads:
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s21-series/qualit%C3%A0-microfono-durante-chiamate-in-vivavoce/td-p/2869053
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-s20-series/problemi-microfono-vivavoce-samsung-s20-5g/td-p/1751086
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-note10-series/note-10-microfono-pessimo-in-vivavoce-normale/td-p/1344980
And above all, it is possible that no reviewer points out such a defect, which in my opinion is huge and unacceptable on a 1300 € device.
This is one example:
first 10 seconds at 40cm away
from 15 to 20 seconds at 1m away
from 27 to 33 seconds even further away

I appreciate your tenacity and I was in on this thread earlier. Since I posted on this thread I did some tests with someone. Yes, the tinny and hollow sound still exists of course but tests roughly 2 Metres away I am told there are no dropouts (Snapdragon 888). That said, why don't you go into any number of TIM or Vodaphone stores in Italy and I am sure one or two of them will be willing to test this on one of their display models (assuming they are not dummies) and go from there? You have had two phones in a row showing the same defect. Perhaps after #3 or #4 displaying the same behaviour you will either learn to work around the limitations of the speakerphone or find another solution (change to another model).
I went directly to a Samsung service center, and not just any one, but to the main one in my city and country.
For them the problem does not exist, from the tests carried out the microphones have no problems and for them the fault could be VoLTE or the quality of the line.
There are several users who for over a year have been waiting for a fix from Samsung on other models that does not arrive, simply because for Samsung there is no problem.
I have had the opportunity to try three S21 Ultra and they behave in the same way, I think it is useless to waste time changing it again or getting other models from Samsung, since I like this S21 Ultra speakerphone aside.

The thing is that Samsung phones were pretty much without any problem when it comes to microphone quality. I had a Galaxy S7 Edge and the microphone was fine. After that something changed ... they should've keep it that way back then and we all wouldn't have any problem.
I confirm i have the same issue. Galaxy s21 Ultra purchased in Italy.
It looks like something fixable software side, i hope they'll fix it soon, in my opinion It is unacceptable for a 1300€ phone.
