Disable Sleeping while playing Youtube Vanced - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have an Amazon fire 7 9th generation and I've installed the Youtube Vanced v.14.21.54 through Amazon Fire Toolbox v6.5.
Youtube Vanced keep playing with the screen off, but it stops after a while when the tablet it is not in charge with the cable. This is because I've activated the "stay active" option from Developer options.
My question is if there is any method to keep the Youtube Vanced playing with the screen off even if is not connected and charging. I've tried with some adb shell commands, by changing the sleep timeout (settings put secure sleep_timeout 0) but unfortunately without success. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance for your help.

You can use these app called "Stay Alive" to make your Fire tablet is stay awake.
Evozi APK downloader:
https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/?id=com.synetics.stay.alive
Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.synetics.stay.alive

Hello,
Thank your for your answer. I've tried with Stay alive app but it doesn't work for my purpose either. What I want to achieve is that the app YouTube Vanced continues to play even with the screen locked and black. This is working if I have a cable attached for recharge, but not without by using only the battery of the tablet. Any other idea or suggestion?
Thank you.

MisterSir69,
This is an odd problem. What method did you use to Root the Kindle? Once you give us this information
maybe I can back out what happened. Let's give you a little information that may help solve the problem.
What keeps the Kindle awake is either touching the screen or an application that has a "keep alive"
feature. A good example of Keep alive, it when we install remote access software on a customer computer
we always tell the software to not allow Windows to go to sleep so we can access it and perform
maintenance at night. Did you install some software after you Rooted the kindle? What software
did you install?

MisterSir69,
What I would do is install a solid Process Manager like Android Process Manager, then reboot the Kindle, wait
about 5 minutes, do not do anything on the Kindle for 5 minutes. Then open the Process Manager and see
what is running. Then kill one by one until the Kindle falls asleep. I would set the Display Sleep Timer at
the lowest setting so you do not have to wait long between each process.

MisterSir69,
Great work MisterSir69! I knew you would be able to figure out which service was causing you trouble.:good:
Yes, we have seen wallpaper, specifically live wallpaper, disable the sleep mode on Android devices.
This is a real bug, when you have time send the results to the developer, if you know the source.
You can usually find the developers contact information in Google Play.

Netflix app losing connection to Chromecast?

Hey I haven't seen this posted yet, so I thought I'd ask about it.
Does anyone else have a problem using their device with Netflix, casting to Chromecast, then it somehow losing connection? This is happens on both my Nexus 7 "flo" and Nexus 4. I turn on the TV, switch to the Chromecast input, etc. Then I boot up Netflix on my tablet, select an episode, then cast to my TV. After it's started, I'll press the power button on my tablet to turn off the screen, and set it aside. When the episode is over I try to pick the next one by turning on my tablet, opening Netflix, and then selecting the next episode. 80% of the time, it won't work. The Netflix app loses connection or something.
This is what I've noticed when this happens: When I first press the power button my tablet to turn on the screen, the Chromecast lock screen comes up with a picture of my show, then the usual pause/rewind/stop controls. If I try pressing one of those, the tablet shows that it worked, but does not do anything to the show that is playing on Chromecast i.e. I press pause, the pause button switches to the play button, but the episode keeps playing. If I press back, unlock the tablet, then open the Netflix app, it opens up to the current episode with all the controls and the seek slider. Again, any controls seem to work on the tablet, but nothing on Chomecast/TV. I also notice that the seek slider is stuck at 00:00. If I try to switch episodes by hitting the little "i", then pressing play on one, it won't go anywhere. The button "presses", but Netflix sits like I didn't press it. Now, if I try to get into the Netflix app by using the Notification panel, it tries to open Netflix but just sits there at the Netflix app splash page, with the red Netflix logo, and the spinner at the bottom to show it's loading the app. That goes on indefinitely.
There is no way to change what is happening on Chromecast unless I force quit Netflix, clear the cached process, then boot up Netflix again. Then, it'll pick up on the cast and I can change episodes and control whatever. Again, this happens probably 80% of the time. Anyone have any idea what's going on? It's kind of annoying since by the time I force quit Netflix, clear the cached process, boot up Netflix, and finally change episodes, the credits have all rolled and I'm sitting at the "Ready to Cast" page. If this is a common problem, I'm sorry. I searched for anything similar, and I also read the first 3 pages for anything like this and nothing came up.
Your not the only one. My connection to the ChromeCast drops all the time with Netflix and sometimes with the Google apps also. However with mine I have to restart my phone to connect again. Force closing and clearing the cache does nothing for me. I have tried the CC on 4 different WiFi routers and I get the same problem with all of them, so I am thinking it is the CC itself. Hopefully future updates will fix connection stability.

Same problem. It's super annoying
Same here.
This didn't happen to me until the update to build 13300 - that ironically included "more robust wifi performance" or words to that effect.
I get it with YouTube although less often than with Netflix.
Wonder if I'd get flamed trying to add this to their defect tracking system?
Edit and PS - I did my best to let someone know.

Same here. My CC has been dropping connection since day 1. I have tried couple of routers and resting the device to factory conditions. Once I am able to connect, I can watch a movie for 30 minutes and after that the connection to CC is lost on my phone, nexus 7 or my laptop. I have to restart cc to regain connection. Google support is not able to troubleshoot.
Just to follow up: Since the last few Netflix updates I don't seem to have this problem anymore.
I'm still having it.
I also have the same problem with Netflix and the Chromecast

I have the same problem, often the cc button isn't even showing in the Netflix app, or if it is showing, it is only for a short while. And controlling it while it plays (when the button was there to use), is mostly impossible.
In YouTube/music it looks to be working fine, but netflix, forget it.

Same way here. Updates seem to have resolved it. The Netflix app itself is still horribly slow and TV shows don't autoplay but that's not really a chrome cast problem.

With me, it is the opposite, unless you are talking about updates I don't have yet (my app is the latest there is from the store). Worked fine (as far as I can remember) for two weeks, stopped working a few days ago.
However, I have been tampering with my modem to get netflix US in my country (there is a local netflix, but I wanted the US version). Allthough music and youtube don't seem to have a problem, it might conflict with the netflix app/service?
I've been tampering with nothing and updating nothing but the problem subsided for me these past few days.
My Chromecast led was blinking quickly for a while in the middle of the night a few nights back. I don't know if that's normal.
But I'm still at 13300 and the problem has subsided.
Same here. What's confusing is that I never had this issue with my CC until a few weeks ago. Netflix, Youtube, Play Music, etc all worked fine and my CC never lost connection.
Now ...I have to reboot CC every single time as the Chromecast becomes undiscoverable about 30 minutes into a Netflix movie. I can no longer pause, stop, etc. I've meddles with my router settings and even replaced it with a new router ...but still the same issue. It's getting beyond frustrating because it seems that it's a widespread issue but neither Netflix or Google is even acknowledging it.

Having the same issue with Netflix. The odd thing is the chrome cast app can still interact with the device, and I can reboot it that way.

Reset Developer Options?

Hey everyone,
So I recently got my Nexus 6 from motorola and it's been great. Today though, I tried watching Netflix with headphones and was getting random pops or crackles in the background. It's only happening with Netflix, youtube and music plays fine.
So i was reading online that turning on developer options and disabling NuPlayer would help. So I did that, but it didn't change anything. So I went back to developer options and hit the off toggle at the top. This seemed to just shut everything in there off though, including nuplayer. Is there a way to just reset the developer options to default?
Most are off for me except oem unlock and debug.

A factory reset will put things the way they were out f the box, including turning off developer options.
+1 to what he said. If in doubt reset.

Settings > Apps > ALL > Settings and clear data should work.
Won't solve the random pops but will reset developer to default.
I thought all that switch did was rehide the options.

All you need to do is enable developer options and put the nuplayer back as it was, although its best top leave that off anyway.

There is no option to set it to default in normal way. You'll have to do that yourself. That's why it's "Developer Options"

Wifi time-out when screen goes to sleep

My current setup:
Rooted Fire 7 (5th Generation)
Fire OS 5.1.1
Play Store added
I am content for the most part with the setup I have but the default setting in FireOS, for battery purposes no doubt, is to kill the wifi connection or put it to "sleep" after the screen has been off for 15 or so minutes. This would be fine if I didn't want to listen to streaming music for more than that long but that is where I am at. FireOS doesn't have the wifi advanced settings of turning off the sleep option, I have also made sure smart suspend is off, I am kind of at a loss right now in regards to finding anyone out there in a similar situation that has posted about this. Anyone have insight as to what can be done? I genuinely use the Amazon services (kindle/audiobooks/newspapers) as intended so I am really trying to avoid a custom/stock android ROM if I can.

Sleep timer not working

I like to fall asleep watching a video on YouTube or a stream on Twitch. On my last Samsung device I got the SleepTimer app that would automatically stop my broadcast and shuts down the screen. I installed it on my P30 Pro, but it doesn't seem to work. I explicitly gave the necessary permissions, but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
EDIT: Found it. Power usage was automatically managed by the phone. Go to settings, apps, apps, <app-name>, power usage details, app launch. Disable 'manage automatically' and make sure 'run in background' is enabled. Fixed it for me.
Thank you so much, I had the same issue with my mate 20 lite and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't figure it out. Now I can fall asleep with youtube again.
