My phone is stuck at "SAMSUNG Galaxy A6 powered by android" screen.
Pressing Volume Down + Power for 7 seconds restarts the phone but it still gets stuck.
I can get into TWRP, but the touchscreen isn't working. Pressing Volume Down + Power for 7 seconds – again – restarts the phone back to "SAMSUNG Galaxy A6 powered by android" screen. After about 15 minutes it enters TWRP. UPDATE – 5 hours later, it only takes 5 seconds to enter TWRP. So now I'm stuck in TWRP.
I want to get into Download Mode to install stock rom. But 1st I need to power off the phone. How do I shut it down?
SOLUTION
While in TWRP recovery mode I connected the phone to PC and used the command:
adb reboot download
Then I used Odin3 to flash stock ROM.
But the touchscreen remains unresponsive; probably because of water damage. I will never ride my bike in the rain without proper phone protection.

If you can get to twrp, click reboot then Power Off. Then Press Vol Up and Down then connect USB cable to your PC or Laptop.

Ok, I just figure having a thread about this might help since I haven't found any similar problem to mine.
I was using Cyanogen RC2, out of the blue the phone did not boot (stuck at the logo screen). I did manage to get to fastboot and from then on this happens:
It does not power up in any way most of the times (power + volume down, power or power + trackball). I'm trying to see the causes of this but fail to do so. Leaving the battery out for days doesn't solve it. It just sometimes boots in fastboot or bootloader.
In this not powering up state, if I charge it to the wall or USB cable, it charges. If I push any combination of powering up buttons in this state, the charge led goes off and stays off until I remove the battery and cable.
When I get lucky and power it up in fastboot, I can try flashing. It hangs 90% of the time during various states, most of the time at the begining. This means I see the green progress bar empty or in progress.
I'm trying now to flash the stock OS (boot, recovery, system and userdata). The radio is FRF 50, 4.06.00.12_7, hboot is the original, 0.33.2012.
I managed to flash different version of recovery.img (stock, RA, cyanogen) but booting in recovery mode from hboot menu just restarts the phone.
When fastboot works and the phone hangs during the flash process, I have to remove the cable and battery and start over.
I did manage to flash a system.img once, don't remember what version, but that did not get me nowhere (might not have matched my radio).
Any ideas are welcome, like using the SD card somehow instead of fastboot over usb.
PASSIMG.zip
You can try the passimg method-
1. download a stock image and rename it PASSIMG.zip
2. Place the file on the root of your sd
3. Power off your phone, then turn it on by holding VolDown and pressing Power
*It will start up in HBOOT mode and will prompt you to flash the PASSIMG.zip update

I've read about this, that's what I plan to try next time when I manage to start the phone. Do you know if this works automatically when powering the phone or it expects the recovery mode (choosing Recovery from the boot menu) to work (because it doesn't)?
No it reads the img with out needing to be in recovery it will up date in the bootloader
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Some progress on the not booting sometimes, if I insist, it will boot after 4-5 battery pullouts.
I tried 2 versions of PASSIMG.zip from shipped-roms
PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.11.1700.1_EPE76_release_signed.zip PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.14.1700.1_EPF30_release_signed.zip
No luck, the flashing hangs at the end as shown here:

Looks bad. Seems like you have some HW damaged in this phone.
[Visual Reference Guide] Recovery & Download Mode for T-Mobile Vibrant - by Groid.
Hey all. As i read through thee forums i see that people are having difficulties with the whole download mode, and recovery mode. I have found that its easier to HOLD THE VOLUME DOWN button for a good 4-7 seconds at the Vibrant splash screen. It always works, gets me right there. Anyways, here is a Visual Guide i made for both.

Your phone is not hardware locked, as many others are. Most of the complaints come from our not-as-smart brethern (no offense) that do not realize their phones are hardware-locked and simply think they are "doing it wrong"
I would run the .bat file associated with Unlocking Hardware locked phones. Just a suggestion.
Best way to get into download mode.
I messed up my phone after restoring a rooted-2.1-stock nand backup while using a froyo build. The phone booted up with constant crashes, and would not go into recovery. I should of read the froyo threads prior to doing that, I was just impatient.
I'm not taking credit for this, but this trick was not posted enough:
DOWNLOAD MODE
------------------
1. Turn off phone (if you cant, take out battery, put it back in.)
2. Plug in USB cable to pc, but not the phone just yet.
3. Hold the phone while holding down the both Volume Up and Volume Down buttons (the phone should not turn on).
4. Plug the USB cable into the phone (this will trigger the phone to turn on).
If you follow those exact steps, Download Mode should be displayed on the phone.

or you could just restart the phone while "USB connected" and holding down the volume up& down buttons.
My galaxy s goes to download mode instead of recovery mode when i hold the three buttons. No usb cable is connected. I really need to fix this. can somebody help?
you're holding volume up right?
If not, do so! If yes, try the Down to see if you get in download mode.

I strongly believe you hold the wrong button combination, buddy.
Hold Vol UP + Home + Power button,
release all 3 buttons when you see the I9000 screen

when i hold those 3 it doesn't go recovery. it just normally boots
Hold em until the samsung logo flashes (shows then blank then shows again) then release ONLY the power.

if you can't get into neither download nor recovery mode, you need a 3 button fix. BUT before you do that, Please double confirm that you can't enter both modes.

Volume Up + HOME + Power -> Recovery mode
Hi there!
Bit of a problem with my Galaxy S. Had Darky's Rom 9.4, but I wanted update to 11. Somehow everything didn't work as intended, after wiping cache and dalvik-cache the phone didn't start at all. Just Samsung screen when booting, after 2 hours I called it a brick.
So I unbricked it by installing stock rom. Well, at least I can make calls and send sms. But there is some issues:
1. Volume buttons and home buttons doesn't work.
2. Impossible to charge the phone. If I insert charger, I cannot even boot it. If phone is turned on and I put charger in, 5 seconds and it will turn off.
Of course, I can't get into recovery mode, although CMrecovery is in there. It's just because of the button mappings which is screwed up somehow. Flashing stock firmware doesn't work either, because phone will crash after inserting the USB-cable. Downloadmode is accessible, but crashing in 5 seconds.
Bit of stuck here. I know, RTFM when flashing but too late for now. Is there any way to get full wipe? Scripts or something? Apps?
...oh wow.. it was my friend who flashed it with "stock" firmware, but it says i897 in about phone.. No wonder why nothing works.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi xsenman,
Thanks for reply. Don't know what you mean captivate but yeah, it's incorrect ROM and probably kernel as well, but it's working somehow.
Will have a look on those instructions you provided. However, I managed to get into recovery mode. In i897 it's both volume buttons and power. So the volume buttons actually work. However, I cannot choose wipe because they are not working in recovery mode. :silly:
I'm able to have internet connection, so maybe I'll try with Quick Boot or Hot Boot.
I put my phone on the charging while sleeping, and in the morning I see the Redmi Powerd by Android screen. I tried to restart long pressing the power button. But the phone is stuck on that screen. Not even able to enter into recovery mode or fastboot mode.
If I press any volume buttons in combination with power button, the phone is not getting started. Simple power button starts the phone but stuck on the redmi logo screen.

Whatever I'm trying to boot into it doesn't work. As far as I remember, I've not unlocked the bootloader, but I'm not sure.
The device was on MIUI 12.5 last update.
Any help?
By any chance, did you fix this somehow?
