We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled ROMs, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. What is PAX?
Our release of Android 10, titled CR-8.0, is codenamed PAX after the latin word for peace and Pax, the roman godess for peace.
PAX provides you with the features you need while keeping the focus on delivering an elegant, smooth, and well polished experience. PAX delivers a set of unique features, like a systemwide font engine that also allows for applying fonts on user apps while supporting user fonts through custom APKs generated on fonts.carbonrom.org. We are confident you'll love it, and there's many more things to discover
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! As always, make sure to do backups.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server or Telegram group! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
Requirements:
You should start off with the latest OxygenOS on both slots and then proceed to flash Carbon.

Excited to try this.
Quick question, would this rom have the same bugs as Lineage 17.1?

I wouldn't be aware of any bugs on Lineage 17.1 (nor on Carbon for that matter), but we're using the same device sources as Lineage on Carbon, so if there was an issue with them, then you'd have them on Carbon too, yes.
Installed about a hour ago and all is smooth. The only issue, at least per my preferences, is getting the dark mode for the messages and phone apps. I may be missing this option, but possibly someone can point me in the right direction?
Thanks. Kudos to Carbon team and myself5. :good:
Worth the wait, loving extra features added in pax, going to be my daily driver. Thanks CarbonROM team.

does this have face unlock? to clarify, I am NOT looking for face unlock... I am looking to avoid the closed source megvii implementation that has been used elsewhere. thanks!

right on! I tried looking at carbon website for feature list and I remember carbon years ago being proudly open source but wanted to be sure. thanks! :highfive:
Oh this is nice, I mean really nice, it's been a while since I've been on carbon, and this is just beautiful, everything just works - so nice - thank you to carbon team bringing us this work of art and thank you @Myself5 for maintaining for us, so glad you brought this over to us, feeling kinda spoiled right now :highfive:
I installed and set it up quickly before bed last night. Paired it with NikGapps Core. Woke up to a 97% idle. Both the phone and I slept like a baby. The phone performs great while in use. Options are plentiful but not bloated. A very nice ROM indeed.

Cherry pick list
* CyanogenMod's latest merges: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/q/status:merged+branch:cm-12.0,n,z
* CyanogenMod's Github: http://github.com/cyanogenmod
This is a kang of CM12 with cherry picks from CyanogenMod’s Gerrit Instance, compiled by a group of volunteers that enjoy learning about and building CyanogenMod and Android in general. All credit goes to cyanogen, #teamdouche and the coders who submit to Gerrit. Thank you to @RyanMacG for providing Euroskank hosting.
These builds are bleeding-edge, most comparable to a nightly build, and are not meant for inexperienced users. Things will be broken and crash from time to time, you need to accept that this isn't stable by any means before flashing. Nandroid as often as possible.
How to post useful, informative bug reports:
Sometimes dev's actually check out our threads, or sometimes we have a good relationship with a dev or two. These bleeding-edge builds will have issues, and having good information on what's broken is great feedback before a feature is merged. Here are some good bug reporting tips:
* No bug reports while using custom kernels or add-ons:
CyangenMod's own bug reporting tool does not accept bug reports from people using non-stock kernels for a reason, so why should we? CM can merge changes to their kernel causing custom kernels to break things until they catch up. Therefore, please do not post any bug reports while using a custom kernel or add-on such as Xposed Framework. Post your issues with custom kernels in their own respective threads as they are the ones who need to play catch up. Any bug report posted in this thread should be while running CM's stock framework and kernel, as this prevents unnecessary clutter.
* Gapps are not a CM issue:
CyanogenMod is built to run without the assistance of Google's proprietary apps (gapps). Having issues with your Google account and syncing is a gapps issue, not a CM issue. Please do not post about any gapps related issues, just wipe data and try a different gapps package.
* Posting about the same bug every build:
Beating a dead horse with "bug X still isn't fixed" posts just adds unnecessary clutter and provides no help into actually fixing the issue. Some bugs take days to squash, some take weeks. Please don't report the same bug every time a build is uploaded.
* Logs:
Provide logcats when applicable. Use a service like Pastebin and put a link to the log in the post. Please do not post logs directly to the forum.
If these requests are too demanding, there's good news! CyanogenMod is open source, so please feel free to download the source code, compile your own builds volunteering your time and resources, then start a thread and run it however you see fit. All we simply ask is that people post good, reliable information that can be passed on to a developer that can actually do something with it, making CM a better product for everyone involved.

Here's the quote that used to be on their Home page not so long ago :
"kanger [kahng-ger] noun : A person with enough skill to compile CyanogenMod from source, but generally does not have enough coding experience to provide fixes or support."
So, in short : flash this if you know what you're doing ; you like, good ; you don't, change.
Euroskank team don't consider themselves as developpers, but, well, real kangers....all the diffrence is here.
At least this is my understanding, correct me if i'm wrong.
And what make Jellybro a good choice is : Builds everyday (almost), as CM, right ; CHERRY PICKS, of course : what's in early stage in CM's repo and not yet merged officially .....and the placebo thing : there's more butter in Skanky stuff :silly:

thanks for awsome work. can u check pie control again it's not working ....thanks
Beautiful looking rom. Signal latched on immediately. Unfortunately, living in So Cal, I'm a picture taking fool. Can't live without a camera. :crying:
This ROM is very nice. Can't wait till the cam gets fixed.
Is there an easy way to get themes? I searched for Carbon ROM themes, but only found a couple (and didn't really know how to get them onto the phone).
any cm-10.1 based themes should work on carbon.
I was using themes I already had for my Paranoid Android ROM, they all work fine.
I am seeing one more issue. When I try to do voice typing (i.e. pressing the microphone on the keyboard), I am getting the message that Google Search has stopped working. I tried doing a logcat, but can't seem to get it to work.
Edit: I just ended up installing Swype Beta and using that instead of the Android Keyboard.
thanks for all the feedback guys! it's coming along nicely.
also - there's now nightlies for you flashaholics. first one should be up in about 2 hrs and then after 10pm PST everyday after that.
thanks again!
I know that this has been a problem with all CM10 based ROMs, but i'm still having an issue with bluetooth not turning back on. I usually have to restart to get bluetooth to work after turning it off.
Also, when flashing one of your nightlies, do I need to wipe anything, or can I just install over the current version?

anyone know where i can get a cheap quincytmo to do my own testing? broken screen doesn't matter aslong as i can use it for devving. everyone on craigslist wants over $200. ebays no better, might as well buy retail.
I probably had a bad download or flash. But yeah camera for sure was a no go. And yeah craigslist and eBay are the only two places I know of... Ebay usually is better for devices with cracked screens with cheap prices. Only thing is not a lot of people have this phone. Have you tried amazon? Or best buy website? They might have some refurbished ones

The 2/2 nightly killed the bluetooth audio info for my car, going to see if 2/4 fixed it. I still have the occasional RAM problems/app killing but I've learned to live with it.

I saw some people talking about AVRCP or w/e that protocol is on the CM gerrit... I think it's an upstream issue.

Do you know which version of AVCRP they are planning to implement? I haven't lost hope for someone to do 1.5, so we can finally browse files and playlists...

Isn't that something that can be only done at the level of the OS? We didn't have AVCRP1.3 until 4.3... I mean it would be awesome to see though!

Indeed, this is an upstream issue.
I don't have any devices which use AVRCP, so I apologize I cannot test it at all.
I'm going to give this another try. Can I use your CM11 kernel as I enjoy the higher processing power?

Hi
Well we do allow "Bounty" threads but they need to be clear and have specific goals:
The developer needs to be made aware, approve of the action, and post in the thread
In the same post as above, the developer should detail his intentions once the device/software/product/etc is obtained, and if possible a rough timeline.
The developer should have at least one or two major contributions to the community under his belt before any large donation thread is made,
There should be a clear statement from the developer and/or the thread starter that there is absolutely NO obligation on the developers part to release a final product.

Replay:
He got a lot big contributions: NEW GPU FOR G NEXUS-witout that galaxy nexus wont able to boot from 4.4+
Ported 3.4 to other tegra3 device
Almost no developer left on community, we will refresh things.
He is here to help us proting new 3.1 and to bringup 3.4
I'd be glad to help you guys, if I can get my hands on this device if someone could send me a spare one, that would be awesome (or I could buy one for about $100 locally).
My plans would be:
- bring up grouper's kernel to nv-3.1 (like I did on the Galaxy Nexus, with omap-3.0)
- become your CM maintainer, as I see it's not really maintained
- try to get 3.4 working
Proof of my previous work...
nv-3.1 kernel
nv-3.4 kernel
I'm their omni maintainer
Unfortunately, I no longer have access to that device (never had, used my father's one to mess with it, it was fun!), so I can't work on Tegra 3...
My Galaxy Nexus work: 1, 2 (first rom with the new shiny kernel + gpu driver), 3, 4 (I'm our CM maintainer), 5, 6...
nice so noone is interest as i can see -.-

I could try, as I have all the equipment needed for it (I'm using it on another device). Although I was able to get USB working without an UART cable on the A510/A700, since not much changed USB-wise between 3.1 and 3.4 /)
I have received an $5 donation for grouper. If I reach about $50, I may be able to buy one from eBay, or some bad condition one locally or I could give it to the one who offers me a spare one.
As i can see nobody care about this or eaven this tablet. Im stating new KANG project next weakend.
I just received another $30, now I can almost buy one of these so I'll watch out for a good offer and buy it if I find one

Introduction
Uniquity is a new kind of ROM. Built by you. Powered by Android, we wanted to design something different. A UI/UX that's user friendly, beautiful and efficient, while retaining familiarity with Android users. For the time being, weekly polls will take place where you can vote on new features, UI tweaks, options, applications and much more.
Something a little different
So what makes Uniquity, well... Unique?
Our ideology behind Uniquity was to create a ROM packed with features, genuinely useful changes (Not just changing things for the sake of it) while retaining that familiar feeling of android; we want anybody that is already familiar with android to be able to pick up our ROM and know how to use it.
Customization
Theming support is included with Uniquity straight out of the box. Although we don't have too much to share at the current time regarding customization, you can expect to see some of the following; Dark / light themes, color customization, custom fonts, and something we like to call Sepia. We'll have more to show in the coming months.
A Unique identity
We designed all of our branding to stand out & be beautiful, but most importantly to represent ourselves as something different than other Android based ROMs. Right down to the color palette. We want to stick to the basic principles of Material design while still adding our own twist to things.
Your phone, your rules
Nobody likes bloatware. That's why during the installation of Uniquity, you are able to customize what gets installed. Don't want a certain application installed on your phone? No problem, simply un-check that app from the list of applications during the setup process.
Developers Wanted
Although we are off to a fantastic start, we need more developers. If you think you have what it takes, please send an email to '[email protected]' or send a PM titled "Developers". All developers will be listed as official developers of this ROM when the first developer preview is released in the coming months.
Updates for week commencing 19/DEC/2016 - a more personal note
This week I thought I would spill the beans about why we are at the stage we currently are at in terms of development. In simple terms, development for Uniquity up until this point has been hell. Development for the project started about 2 weeks before this thread was created, although plans have existed for several months before that. Around the time this thread was created, the majority of the work was done by one developer. Not mentioning any names, but for the sake of this, we'll call him Bob. At this stage the ROM was coming along well. Core parts of the OS were re-made to our specification, almost the entire system was themed, and we even had our own launcher (known internally as "Sylk"). If you all think back to about a month ago where things went quiet, that's where the problems came. The developer completely disappeared which was due to personal reasons, as we were told at least. What actually happened was that Bob stole all of our code, apps, source custom features and kernel. Although we don't know what he intends to do with this ROM, obviously our best guess is that he is going to release it as his own. I was seriously considering at this point just to scrap the whole project and forget it ever happened. However, due to the immense support we have all received, I decided to keep going and look for a new developer. That's where I found a guy named Haroon, who was completely willing to help & introduced me to the current development team, exactly what we needed to get back on track. This is the reason development has been reset (as some people figured out from the latest screenshots) and we have essentially had to build from the ground up, apart from a few applications & tweaks. Although this has been a huge set for us, we are determined that we will be back on track and are working as fast as we can to develop the best ROM we can.
Developers Still Wanted
Although we are very much on the right track, we are still short of app developers. Think you've got what it takes? We have a number of positions available including AOSP developer (we plan on migrating to AOSP sometime next month, depending on the alpha feedback), Launcher developer, and other application developers including clock, SMS, notes and Switchboard. If you apply, you will have to be ready to develop almost immediately and will be expected to work to deadlines and complete the tasks as given. Don't hold back, be part of something great. If you think you make a difference, email us at [email protected]
Or message me here on XDA.
I hope the story provides some insight as to why this has all taken so long, and as always, I wish you all an awesome week and a merry Christmas!

Updates for week commencing 12/DEC/2016 - A quick updateThis week's going to be a quick one as we are all working hard on finalizing the closed Alpha build. We're finally ready to share some screenshots of where we're at for the latest INTERNAL build. This is NOT the same as the closed Alpha. Many changes will be applied before the release of that, they just haven't been published yet. Changes for the closed Alpha from these screenshots include: Font, updated theme, further optimizations, theme tweaks, new accent color & more.
No polls for this week as there is simply too much to do in terms of ROM finalization!
Hope you all have a great week!
Regards
-Alex

Alpha builds Q&A
As the first alpha builds are nearly complete, here are the answers to some common questions you may have.
Q: What firmware version will I need to flash before installing Uniquity?
A: 3.5.5. - You should also be able to flash Uniquity after installing beta OOS beta 8.
Q: What features will be included in the Alpha builds?
A: The Alpha builds focus on Performance and stability. This means many features will be missing. These will be added in later builds.
Q: What Gapps package will I need to flash?
A: Minimal Gapps functionality is already included in the ROM. This means the play store will work straight out of the box.
Q: When will the source code for Uniquity be released?
A: This is something we are still discussing internally. It will likely be released shortly after the final ROM is out.
Q: Will OTA updates be available in the Alpha builds?
A: No. OTA is however being actively worked on and will be available by the final launch.
Q: How do I get an Alpha invite?
A: Alpha invites are given at random and are limited to 50 invites.
Q: How can I donate to help support the project?
A: Donation link will go live after the first alpha build is released. We feel it would be unfair to ask for donations before that stage.
Q: Can I take screenshots/video of the invite-only alpha builds?
A: Yes. Please do not however share the ROM or any parts of it.

Updates & Poll for week commencing 05/DEC/16 - More transparency & an early Christmas presentAnother week has passed and although a few hiccups earlier in the week, things are now back on track. Firstly I'd like to address all the recent negativity / criticism regarding our project & would like to take some time to share my views. To start, I will say that everybody is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that. If you don't like something about the project, you are more than entitled to leave your thoughts on it. However at the point that it becomes bashing just for the sake of doing so is where things start to become problematic. I realise we should have been more transparent of what is going on behind the scenes & why that may have raised some suspicions, however development takes time, as simple as that. It must be understood that we are doing some heavy tweaks and changes to the Android OS in order to create uniquity. However as the leader of this project, I take responsibility and would like to apologise for not being transparent enough about the whole thing. We want to be secretive, we want some of our features to be a surprise, but at the same time, I feel we have been a little too secretive and would like to say sorry, and will be updating you all more regularly from now on.
Now for a bit of good news for all of our fans. We know how excited and enthusiastic some of you are about Uniquity, and we are truly grateful. We got more of a response than we could have ever expected, and that's why we feel the time is getting close to let you have something to play around with. That's why I am announcing you will have your own build of uniquity (Nougat(public build 1a)) to play around with by Christmas! This build will be missing some of our features as they are simply not ready yet, but we feel we have to release something to keep our fans happy. I will post some screenshots and maybe even some videos in the coming days and weeks so you know what to expect, so keep your eyes peeled!

Updates & Poll for week commencing 19 (21) /NOV/2016 - All about design
Firstly I would like to apologise for this post being released 2 days early. I will not be available on Monday, so I am releasing it now.
Starting with the most recent news, development has progressed on our applications and is now at a pace we would expect.
Mockups for all of our icons are now complete and we are eager to hear what you think. Don't like something? Tell us why and how we could improve it.
(Please disregard the gray stroke around the messaging icon, it's simply a compression issue)
& finally the Navigation bar
We feel its time to reveal our naming scheme for Uniquity. As most of you will know, Android follows an alphabetical naming scheme based on deserts.
In similar fassion, Uniquity's naming scheme will be based on fruit, starting with 1.0 - Apricot!
Now for the polls:
Should Aroma installer be integrated into our ROM while flashing? Or should we design our own to run after the setup process?
Poll closed - Winner = DRAW - Dev builds will use Aroma

Should the system font be left as Roboto, Or should we use our branding font (NOW light)?

Updates & Poll for week commencing 14/NOV/2016
It's been a busy week for all the members on the Uniquity project. We have learned from the community that although being a solid foundation, marshmallow will be a little dated by the time we release our final build. That's why as of now, we are officially working on Nougat builds internally. We are now aiming for our first final release to be based on 7.1. We are especially fond of the improved touch latency in this newest version of android. The downside of this jump in android versions comes with the system UI. We have had to (mostly) re-build what we have with the system user interface. Rest assured, it is still virtually identical to what we showed in the initial screenshots and will function as intended.
Now for the poll. Or polls, this time around. In order to speed up development, we have decided to run two polls per week.
Poll 1 week 2
In Uniquity, we are replacing the built-in display functionality of nougat with a more precise DPI scaler. Which DPI setting would you like to see enabled by default?
Poll closed - Winner = 401DPI

Poll 2 week 2

Updates & Poll for week commencing 7/11/2016
After just 1 day of showing Uniquity to you, the response has been very positive and more than we could have hoped for. We would like to say a huge thank you to anybody that supports and will continue to support us. We are truly grateful.
As mentioned in the original post, we will be having weekly polls to decide which features & changes should be made to Uniquity. The first of these polls is as follows (Valid until Nov 13):
Which of the following icons should be used as the DEFAULT battery indicator icon? (Note - We plan on having all of these icons included with the final release and changeable at will, this poll is simply asking which should be enabled by default (after initial setup).
To vote, please copy and paste the following:
POLL CLOSED - The winning poll result is '#4 with percentage enabled'. Thank you to everyone that voted.
