Introduction
Uniquity is a new kind of ROM. Built by you. Powered by Android, we wanted to design something different. A UI/UX that's user friendly, beautiful and efficient, while retaining familiarity with Android users. For the time being, weekly polls will take place where you can vote on new features, UI tweaks, options, applications and much more.
Something a little different
So what makes Uniquity, well... Unique?
Our ideology behind Uniquity was to create a ROM packed with features, genuinely useful changes (Not just changing things for the sake of it) while retaining that familiar feeling of android; we want anybody that is already familiar with android to be able to pick up our ROM and know how to use it.
Customization
Theming support is included with Uniquity straight out of the box. Although we don't have too much to share at the current time regarding customization, you can expect to see some of the following; Dark / light themes, color customization, custom fonts, and something we like to call Sepia. We'll have more to show in the coming months.
A Unique identity
We designed all of our branding to stand out & be beautiful, but most importantly to represent ourselves as something different than other Android based ROMs. Right down to the color palette. We want to stick to the basic principles of Material design while still adding our own twist to things.
Your phone, your rules
Nobody likes bloatware. That's why during the installation of Uniquity, you are able to customize what gets installed. Don't want a certain application installed on your phone? No problem, simply un-check that app from the list of applications during the setup process.
Developers Wanted
Although we are off to a fantastic start, we need more developers. If you think you have what it takes, please send an email to '[email protected]' or send a PM titled "Developers". All developers will be listed as official developers of this ROM when the first developer preview is released in the coming months.

Updates for week commencing 19/DEC/2016 - a more personal note
This week I thought I would spill the beans about why we are at the stage we currently are at in terms of development. In simple terms, development for Uniquity up until this point has been hell. Development for the project started about 2 weeks before this thread was created, although plans have existed for several months before that. Around the time this thread was created, the majority of the work was done by one developer. Not mentioning any names, but for the sake of this, we'll call him Bob. At this stage the ROM was coming along well. Core parts of the OS were re-made to our specification, almost the entire system was themed, and we even had our own launcher (known internally as "Sylk"). If you all think back to about a month ago where things went quiet, that's where the problems came. The developer completely disappeared which was due to personal reasons, as we were told at least. What actually happened was that Bob stole all of our code, apps, source custom features and kernel. Although we don't know what he intends to do with this ROM, obviously our best guess is that he is going to release it as his own. I was seriously considering at this point just to scrap the whole project and forget it ever happened. However, due to the immense support we have all received, I decided to keep going and look for a new developer. That's where I found a guy named Haroon, who was completely willing to help & introduced me to the current development team, exactly what we needed to get back on track. This is the reason development has been reset (as some people figured out from the latest screenshots) and we have essentially had to build from the ground up, apart from a few applications & tweaks. Although this has been a huge set for us, we are determined that we will be back on track and are working as fast as we can to develop the best ROM we can.
Developers Still Wanted
Although we are very much on the right track, we are still short of app developers. Think you've got what it takes? We have a number of positions available including AOSP developer (we plan on migrating to AOSP sometime next month, depending on the alpha feedback), Launcher developer, and other application developers including clock, SMS, notes and Switchboard. If you apply, you will have to be ready to develop almost immediately and will be expected to work to deadlines and complete the tasks as given. Don't hold back, be part of something great. If you think you make a difference, email us at [email protected]
Or message me here on XDA.
I hope the story provides some insight as to why this has all taken so long, and as always, I wish you all an awesome week and a merry Christmas!

Updates for week commencing 12/DEC/2016 - A quick updateThis week's going to be a quick one as we are all working hard on finalizing the closed Alpha build. We're finally ready to share some screenshots of where we're at for the latest INTERNAL build. This is NOT the same as the closed Alpha. Many changes will be applied before the release of that, they just haven't been published yet. Changes for the closed Alpha from these screenshots include: Font, updated theme, further optimizations, theme tweaks, new accent color & more.
No polls for this week as there is simply too much to do in terms of ROM finalization!
Hope you all have a great week!
Regards
-Alex

Alpha builds Q&A
As the first alpha builds are nearly complete, here are the answers to some common questions you may have.
Q: What firmware version will I need to flash before installing Uniquity?
A: 3.5.5. - You should also be able to flash Uniquity after installing beta OOS beta 8.
Q: What features will be included in the Alpha builds?
A: The Alpha builds focus on Performance and stability. This means many features will be missing. These will be added in later builds.
Q: What Gapps package will I need to flash?
A: Minimal Gapps functionality is already included in the ROM. This means the play store will work straight out of the box.
Q: When will the source code for Uniquity be released?
A: This is something we are still discussing internally. It will likely be released shortly after the final ROM is out.
Q: Will OTA updates be available in the Alpha builds?
A: No. OTA is however being actively worked on and will be available by the final launch.
Q: How do I get an Alpha invite?
A: Alpha invites are given at random and are limited to 50 invites.
Q: How can I donate to help support the project?
A: Donation link will go live after the first alpha build is released. We feel it would be unfair to ask for donations before that stage.
Q: Can I take screenshots/video of the invite-only alpha builds?
A: Yes. Please do not however share the ROM or any parts of it.

Updates & Poll for week commencing 05/DEC/16 - More transparency & an early Christmas presentAnother week has passed and although a few hiccups earlier in the week, things are now back on track. Firstly I'd like to address all the recent negativity / criticism regarding our project & would like to take some time to share my views. To start, I will say that everybody is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that. If you don't like something about the project, you are more than entitled to leave your thoughts on it. However at the point that it becomes bashing just for the sake of doing so is where things start to become problematic. I realise we should have been more transparent of what is going on behind the scenes & why that may have raised some suspicions, however development takes time, as simple as that. It must be understood that we are doing some heavy tweaks and changes to the Android OS in order to create uniquity. However as the leader of this project, I take responsibility and would like to apologise for not being transparent enough about the whole thing. We want to be secretive, we want some of our features to be a surprise, but at the same time, I feel we have been a little too secretive and would like to say sorry, and will be updating you all more regularly from now on.
Now for a bit of good news for all of our fans. We know how excited and enthusiastic some of you are about Uniquity, and we are truly grateful. We got more of a response than we could have ever expected, and that's why we feel the time is getting close to let you have something to play around with. That's why I am announcing you will have your own build of uniquity (Nougat(public build 1a)) to play around with by Christmas! This build will be missing some of our features as they are simply not ready yet, but we feel we have to release something to keep our fans happy. I will post some screenshots and maybe even some videos in the coming days and weeks so you know what to expect, so keep your eyes peeled!

Updates & Poll for week commencing 19 (21) /NOV/2016 - All about design
Firstly I would like to apologise for this post being released 2 days early. I will not be available on Monday, so I am releasing it now.
Starting with the most recent news, development has progressed on our applications and is now at a pace we would expect.
Mockups for all of our icons are now complete and we are eager to hear what you think. Don't like something? Tell us why and how we could improve it.
(Please disregard the gray stroke around the messaging icon, it's simply a compression issue)
& finally the Navigation bar
We feel its time to reveal our naming scheme for Uniquity. As most of you will know, Android follows an alphabetical naming scheme based on deserts.
In similar fassion, Uniquity's naming scheme will be based on fruit, starting with 1.0 - Apricot!
Now for the polls:
Should Aroma installer be integrated into our ROM while flashing? Or should we design our own to run after the setup process?
Poll closed - Winner = DRAW - Dev builds will use Aroma
Click to collapse
Should the system font be left as Roboto, Or should we use our branding font (NOW light)?
Poll closed - Winner = Now light

Click to collapse
We've added a couple of extra wallpapers for you guys to enjoy for this week (Once again, designed by morphicsn0w). Be sure to check back on Monday for a bonus surprise - We think you'll like what we have to show you

Updates & Poll for week commencing 14/NOV/2016
It's been a busy week for all the members on the Uniquity project. We have learned from the community that although being a solid foundation, marshmallow will be a little dated by the time we release our final build. That's why as of now, we are officially working on Nougat builds internally. We are now aiming for our first final release to be based on 7.1. We are especially fond of the improved touch latency in this newest version of android. The downside of this jump in android versions comes with the system UI. We have had to (mostly) re-build what we have with the system user interface. Rest assured, it is still virtually identical to what we showed in the initial screenshots and will function as intended.
Now for the poll. Or polls, this time around. In order to speed up development, we have decided to run two polls per week.
Poll 1 week 2
In Uniquity, we are replacing the built-in display functionality of nougat with a more precise DPI scaler. Which DPI setting would you like to see enabled by default?
Poll closed - Winner = 401DPI
Click to collapse
Poll 2 week 2
Should Uniquity have built-in root access?
Poll closed - Winner = Yes
Click to collapse
As always, have a fantastic week ahead. We can't wait to hear your suggestions and comments. Enjoy the new wallpapers (Designed by Morphicsn0w).

Updates & Poll for week commencing 7/11/2016
After just 1 day of showing Uniquity to you, the response has been very positive and more than we could have hoped for. We would like to say a huge thank you to anybody that supports and will continue to support us. We are truly grateful.
As mentioned in the original post, we will be having weekly polls to decide which features & changes should be made to Uniquity. The first of these polls is as follows (Valid until Nov 13):
Which of the following icons should be used as the DEFAULT battery indicator icon? (Note - We plan on having all of these icons included with the final release and changeable at will, this poll is simply asking which should be enabled by default (after initial setup).
To vote, please copy and paste the following:
POLL CLOSED - The winning poll result is '#4 with percentage enabled'. Thank you to everyone that voted.

Remember, we are always open to suggestions and feedback, you don't have to wait for a poll to submit your feedback. Simply reply to this thread with your ideas.
As some people have asked for the wallpaper used through email, you can find our stock wallpaper attached (Designed by Morphicsn0w).
As always, have a great week, and don't hesitate to comment with your suggestions, queries and comments!

How to?
best way to add this in my opinion is over Binary100100's Community Hero Mix
With that said, it's more like an add on to Binary's already crazy cool theme.
You can apply it as a standalone theme, but at this point in time, don't...
So in other words,
1.Backup
2.flash CM-4215_CHM_BinaryRelease+---Launch.zip (v1.8) (if you don't already have it)
3.flash Meclairo+___Launch+Lockscreen.zip
reboot and enjoy!
I have confirmed myself that this works on cm 4.2.15.1 !!! Other ROMs could apply. Like stated above, theme is based off Binary100100's Community Hero Mixso please be a labrat.

Ok so I have been crackin out on this for the past little while and I want to share the wealth with everyone else. This couldn't have been done if it wasn't for all you out there who helped me. This is a mashup of Binary100100's CHM+Steiricsson Lockscreen and many others that I found. Icons came from the web from an open source project.
Being that I don't pay attention to names around here, credit goes to this guy and who ever else wants to chime in,

I cant speak for the whole community , but on the whole it would seem that we themers dont mind other people using our work, however when credit is not given, nobody knows how hard we worked and how many hours we put in to making things look great.
Please Remember to give credit to those whos work you use, for instance, the dialer you are using was created for darkstar by me, freekyfrogy and djosiah all we get for our hard work is credit, and that is enough, but its a little saddening to see other people using our work without tell people who did it.
Sorry to rant, but you know.

Once again, thank you for all the help and thank you to all the devs and themers out there for the great material to work upon!!
After reading the thread Super E (if you're not aware of it, don't worry), it came to my attention that there are a select few of us (mainly one, as of now...) who "steal" the work from others and claim it as their own. I for one, think this is wrong. I like to give credit to those who deserve it but I must confess, sometimes I don't know where the credit needs to be given.
I'm still new to the xda forums. About a month long member as of 2-5-10.
The quote above was not placed to make this guy look bad. It was placed to remind me of who he is. So for all you haters out there and wrecking crew, don't bash cause that wasn't my intentions.
But as another member mentioned, and I don't remember his name...
Open source is about no one "owning" the work.....We all should thank HTC and Google
Click to collapse
With that in mind, we need to come to an understanding that ALL themes and ALL ROMs have some shared values. Rather it be the compile that the guys in the Super E thread were speaking of while bashing Ben accusing him of never making anything of his own or the man above telling me to credit his dial pad while I use it.
In my opinion, none of this matters with an open source platform such as Android and Linux. If it's out there and you know how to customize it to your pleasing, by all means do so cause I would love to see what the next guy comes up with on top of what I already had. As said once, if it weren't for the man coming along and picking up where the last man left off/ if it weren't for the man coming along and improving upon what the last man left off, we'd still be in the dark ages...
So to some of you, ya. I guess I am a thief but I don't see it that way.
I see myself as a dev/theemer (whatever you wanna call me) from the open source platform of the future.
This will be the greatest platform if we devs/theemers would just squash the beef with the whole "you stole my ****" thing cause really, we're all stealing from someone.
Buy me a beer, Donate here...
Nice
Good work man - this is a beauty of a theme, just what i was looking for - the startup splash screen is genius!

Thanks for the skeleton to work on.
This theme is still taking it's own shape.
Learning as I go.
Not the same as Moto-Linux...
Just letting you all know that I have not forgotten about my theme.
I've been working on a few things and decided I WILL NOT put another update out until MAJOR changes happen. For example, 1.5 will consist of the menu images getting themed... (the menu button...)
Here's a little taste of what you can expect on the next update though...
Cha Boi
And remember, I'm still working on it so don't be coming up and gettin hify on me about stealing your stuff, or anyone's for that matter because we all share the same things around here...
I JUST DISCOVERED .9's!!!
I NOW KNOW HOW TO MAKE MY OWN!
So add that to the expectations of v1.5 of my theme.
It might take time though cause my pc parts are finally coming back from RMA and that rig has all my cool apps on it so I'll be able to make my own images and I don't want to throw out another update with something minuscule done to it.
1.5 WILL BE AN OVERHAUL OF THE EXISTING MECLAIRO BUT WILL STILL HOLD SOME TRAITS!!!
It won't be based off CHMbinaryrelease anymore but it will still be a good idea to flash that one before Meclairo.
STAY TUNED GUYS! IT'S ONLY GETTING BETTER!
Update - 2-19-2010
I got all my parts back from RMA yesterday and just finished rebuilding the beast tonight. Skeptical about the replacement cpu heatsink WITHOUT a fan but things seem to be running smoother than ever. And quite now which is a great plus.
Tomorrow, I will get the sdk and eclipse running and start crackin on the theme!
So I have heard that there will be a 15.1
Because of this news, I will wait until that comes out. Then I will wait a little longer but expect a v1.4.1 this weekend.
And sadly enough, some of my surprises will be spoiled. But not many.
LONG LIVE!
Update 3-7-10
I broke something. Can't get the icon background to appear on homescreen. Still working on it. Shooting for mid-monday. Need sleep first...
I put this off for far too long but here you go people.
V1.4.6 is out in the wild.
Refer to post #1
My thread was 10 pages back.
Gettin no love with it bein that far back so sorry for the double/triple post but you know...

Fyi, I regularly donate to devs so I don't have anything against donation at all. I just don't believe in donating to hard headed devs who are only about the money.

This is complete BS and you know it.... Nothing about any of the issues had anything to do with us being concerned about receiving donations.
I did have an issue with him re-posting our work and asking for donations though.. Because for the most part this ROM is Liberty with a theme.
To say he rebuilt the apps is a stretch at the least. All he did was use APKManager to decompile the app and delete folders. Themers for the most part do the same. To truly rebuild the apps he would need to build them from source as I did. If he would have reached out to me I would have sent him instructions on how build his own. Which I have offered and done, for others who have asked.
If you haven't noticed many of the features included in the Liberty toolbox are only available in pay-for only apps from Jrummy and while the app may be free on the market that doesnt not mean it is open source and free for other devs to use.
By him using our app he is also using our servers to assist him in the downloading of add-ons and themes, for his ROM. Servers which are already congested.
Do you not see a problem with any of this????
If he would have asked I don't believe that Jrummy would have been ok with him using the toolbox in his ROM. If he wanted to use the base I would have been fine.
Notice that we have been more than willing to help other devs with their ROMs on many occasions.
Examples:
Jrummy's overclocking script is in almost all DX and D2 ROMS
Rubix uses the GummyJAR base and apps and I was more than happy to help Drod2169 in doing so
Fission's latest build uses Gummy's framework and lockscreen tool and I helped Angdroid implement that.
I believe we would have been much happier if he would have removed the scripts and toolbox and just used the base. If this would have happened nothing would have been said.

I do not like the feel of this thread at all. You make it look like we harassed you trying to get you to delete the thread. Also, your red big bold that you use to tell people to not donate to you makes it look like all we are trying to do is get donations from people.
I do not make roms for money. If I did I would be a COMPLETE fool. After doing roms for about a year I can tell you that donations suck. I told Kejar at the beginning that I have always considered roms as free work. Why do I do it then? Because I love it. It's a great hobby and I do not do it for money at all and it has always been that way for me.
I have never spoken to you before. All I said about this rom was 2 things. One on twitter where I was upset that you didn't ask if you could use liberty toolbox before posting it up and the second was here:
Hey bro,
Next time just ask before basing a rom off of someones work. Instead of having multiple roms based on something, you should just contribute whatever work you do to the liberty team or start a rom from freash

i know you didnt harrass me. it was more the the community. i but that in big bold letters b/c i know how people love to just skim the op. by putting that in big bold letters im sure no one will miss it.. and you guys will get credit for the great work you did.. and i referred to that whole donation thing because kejar sent me a message saying he felt like i was posting your rom with a donation link under my name and possibly thought i was trying to snatch a few bucks. i just wanted to clear up that was by no means the case and just wanted to reiterate that.. i also completely undertstand you being upset that thats why i apoligized.. i dont want to start any drama either bro. its people in the community who start talking all this nonsense... if you wanna talk to me about this and work something out id be more then happy to on gtalk or twitter. just let me know. thanks for all your hard work.
Guys. Chill. Everyone.
I submit that this whole thing could have been handled differently. And should have been.
Clearly, Chingy was not trying to take credit for anyone's work, nor profit from it. He was just sharing his modifications with a group of people who don't like what the man delivered to us.
But in all reality, what harm was done? None.
I really love the Liberty ROM, and by extension the Incredibly Re-Engineered ROM. There are features in both that are down right awesome. I love them both.
Let's just wipe the slate clean, and move on. This is by far, greater than Moto/VZW have done. I believe we all agree on that.
Please, let's get along and make Android what it was meant to be.
We need free thinkers and developers to bring ideas to reality.
I use Liberty on my Droid X, and my Dinc had Incredibly Re-engineered. (Actually it still does)
I think one major thing that needs to be said is this:
The Droid X dev forums are NOTHING like the Dinc forums. We have very talented devs, I'm not saying we don't, but there aren't as many devs here. This is something that needs to be taken note of.. We can't afford to bash each other or dislike each other because there's not enough to begin with. If we want to continue improving this phone, we need to all work together. I'm not saying anyone bashed anyone, but I feel this had to be taken to heart.
Looks real good downloading now.
And lets all be friends.
Thanks to all 3 and i have bought jrummys apps and there quality but one request add more boot logos to logo changer maybe some google and htc logos.
Why can't we be friends? Why can't we be friends? Just asking. I hare drama so im just posting to get my post count up;-)

I have tried every ROM out the on my X,Inc,OG Droid, and EVO.... This is by far the quickest, cleanest, and most stable yet. Good job! That being said... F these haters, lets see them make their own ROM! I believe their all missing one big detail... EVERY ROM HAS BEEN RIPPED OFF OF THE ORIGINAL VANILLA ANDROID OS. Not saying its a bad thing but its the truth. If I knew how to create a ROM, this would be what I would have created. Just saying.... You don't like it down run it. More for me!
Half these haters are going to be rocking iPhones by the end of the month anyway! Have fun with you custom ROMS THEN!
Wonderful rom! I prefer this to everything out there so far, thanks for your work!

I been using this rom a few days now and I am very satisfied with it. Dont know exactly what he did or didnt do, but I personally think it runs a bit smoother than liberty or gummyjar even though it came from those 2 roms. keep up the good work.

Upsetting practice in the development section.

Anyone else frustrated that new ROMs are being posted without any screenshots or other information guide-lined by moderators?
For the sake of my phone and it's integrity, I have to read through the posts to make sure of it's compatibility sometimes and hope someone posts a screenshot for bug reporting or showing off just so I can see the theme of the ROM. This stuff was rampant in a lot of older phone sub-forums and I never knew what I was getting into. Most of the time, I was surprised by ugly skins and well-known bugs that weren't posted in the original post! infuriating!
... Moderators, please re-enforce your own guidelines/rules.
Before you post, please understand that I do know a lot of developers have followed most the guidelines accordingly, and I appreciate that just as much as everyone else here who likes organization and concise information.
However, I'd like to make an example out of the specific post for Purity Rom's thread.
Looks perfect, right? ... From what I hear and read, it's perfect. I can't wait to flash this ROM sometime this week when I get the time. One problem though... There's no picture showing it off. What I do know is that it's AOSP, which typically means it's a form of Stock Android.... But I didn't know that it contained a full KitKat Black/White theme instead of Google's Holo Blue leftovers.
I'm not upset with this, I welcome it with open arms! But there's no picture to show that off or information in the post disclosing this change! Why??
... Should I mention Team EOS? or SlimKat's outdated Jelly Bean presentation picture? There's no information to take in besides the functionality.
Side note: I'm not against ROM functionality over presentation. I'd just like to know what I'm jumping into before I flash a ROM.
Also: Thank you, Paranoid Android, for the beautiful and informative photos of your ROM. Truly appreciative presentation.
I agree with you. Also, to others, please don't post stuff like "just be grateful" or "they're already giving you free stuff so why complain". This is not about what the dev has done but it's about the xda-developers forum; there are rules and/or guidelines to follow.
While I do agree, as I've seen threads started where the OP is essentially just the standard disclaimer + some credits & download links, nothing more... I don't see the need to start a new thread about it. Mods do have their hands full at times on these forums and they still have lives outside the internet. They can't always be checking every single thread making sure every guideline is met. There's a report button for a reason. Instead of publicly calling out Purity, EOS & Slim, you could just have easily PM'ed either the thread maintainers, a moderator, or simply reported it using the report button. That's literally why it's there.
The upsetting practice is that some (if not the majority) don't include changelogs in the OP, instead you have to go through external websites and links, sometimes it becomes quite an adventure to be able to read up what's new.
Now, i can understand that practice for download links (even though that's against the rules too) , but you know, ads and stuff, paying the hosts etc.. but at least copy-paste the changelog to your OP on XDA.
Good point. The most important thing is the FAQ section. It's a must for every ROMd. A newbie tends to read the OP and then download the ROM. He doesn't have time to search the entired thread for bugs. And guess what happens after he reports the problem in the thread, everyone starts blaming him that this has been discussed n number of times already. Why don't you search before posting. If the FAQ section clearly describes the problems and solutions, then it would benefit not only to newbies, but to that particular thread too. No more of unnecessary discussion.
This is the single most ridiculous and simultaneously stupid, not to mention irrelevant complaint I've ever heard. This is a Nexus device, which means it has holo accents or they're holo white. But it remains KitKat, and screenshots of the exact same UI we're currently looking at is not only redundant but unnecessary. Unless the ROM is themed drastically (ie LiquidBlood) a simple "stock holo" or "holo white" in the description/features is sufficient. You're worse than a fat person suing McDonalds for making them fat. Seriously. Bugs? Search button.

I'm no stranger to the search button. There are some things that never get fixed and should be posted either in the original post or the FAQs page, and sometimes this never gets done, buddy.
If I don't voice my concerns or opinions, how do I expect to learn or grow with everyone else?
Why must you be, not only so oppressive, but insulting? I apologize if my original post offended or triggered you, but from little you know of me, you appear to take me for knowing close to nothing about how forums work.
You're better than this and I hope you realize how terribly you reacted.

They are merely "suggested guidelines". They are NOT something we ever have or ever will enforce. The devs can structure a thread however they please. Screenshots are usually pointless anyway, as ROMs all look basically the same, except for any custom theming.
I'm not sure what else you seem to think should be spoon fed to users, but as long as the basics are listed, I really don't see the issue. if you really need to know what it looks like, ask someone in the thread to post a screenshot for you. Or just download it and try it for yourself
One of these days the attitude and lack of people skills here will be xda's downfall.

Too right you are. I hadn't had my coffee yet and clearly didn't use my brain, and passed judgement far too quickly. I should have considered my response and been constructive instead of offensive.
You have my apologies, sir.
Its lovely when users put their ego aside and act humanly.
About the OP, I also enjoy seeing some screenshots about the customisations or themings devs implement on their ROMs. While I agree there are more important things like known bugs, reported bugs (so users don't have to browse 1000 pages) and whatever information is necessary, seeing is believing and a picture is worth a thousand words. So in my opinion, not a necessity but would be nice .

The thing is, 90% of people don't even read the OP and look ONLY for download links. Nor are they any sort of developer. Lol.

those are guidlines, NOT how your post is supposed to look. its a suggestion. if you are upset about not seeing a screenshot, flash the rom, take a screenshot, and post it.
IMO every thread must contain faq section with solutions to various rom bugs and screenshots. Most of the people will be benefited from that. In that way, the thread will be clean.

Do you follow the development threads? If you did, you would know that bugs get squashed all the time when they're being reported in the nightlies.. There's really no point in keeping on updating the OP of the development thread when a bug is found as it will most likely be squashed in the next nightly/weekly.
Coming to the screenshots part, each and every rom out here have the same look and feel. It's the features which differ which I think is included in most of the dev thread's OP afaik. Only if the developer has themed his rom differently, then Yes, a screenshot would do good. But if you want one, you can just ask in that thread particular thread. I'm sure people will be willing to share a SS with you if you ask them nicely!
Devs are required to post one thing only (besides the ROM): kernel source. Everything else is optional. I try my best to provide as much useful info as possible, but not everyone does. That is their choice.
If you see a dev posting download links to an external website with ads, report it. That is not allowed.
There is a very simple solution to your concerns OP:
If you don't like what the dev provides (whether it be the ROM or information about the ROM), don't flash the ROM, click the thanks button, or make a donation.

Why Devs? Why?

So first and foremost, it is really important for me to stress how much I personally and im sure the community appreciates all the hard work devs and dev teams put forth so we may enjoy and open and awesome android. That being said there is an almost universally adopted behavior that truly baffles me and I truly wonder about it hence this thread. Why do devs spend so much time and effort to create truly amazing roms only to post them without any screenshots? This is not me being lazy and im fully aware that if i was to flash the rom i could explore it to my heart's content but seeing as to how it takes 20-25 minutes to nandroid backup, wipe, flash, setup ect only to find a rom too bloated or slim on features. Sigh... what im trying to say is I (im sure im not alone) often skip roms without screenshots and favor ones that give me a brief preview of what im about to flash. Thoughts? Comments? Concerns? Am I overlooking something obvious or are there others who feel this way?

oh I know it is and believe me its not a complaint as much as
a) I wanted to make them aware how many more downloads they would get with this small inclusion
b) I never understood why its overlooked although its probably both the easiest (compared to coding) and most influential factor in a rom's success (beyond you know actually working)

ha, ripping you to shreds
well, most nexus roms are based on aosp, and most nexus roms do not add theming, so the far majority of custom roms will look relatively the same. only a rom that also adds a theme willl look different. and they are the ones that usually add screenshots. comprendo?

youre welcome. ive had similar questions before, on older nexus devices. it just seems pointless to add in a screenshot or two, if its the same. but, if there is theming, then it makes sense to add a few screenshots. but the great thing about a nexus, we can add in themes after flashing the rom, and our choices
I think where a rom is heavily themed, then yes, screenshots are a must. I really don't see the.point wasting time with screenshots when a rom isn't themed though. They all look the same in that case. Features are best listed, using words.
Edit.. Probably should have read the thread first.

I wouldn't be aware of any bugs on Lineage 17.1 (nor on Carbon for that matter), but we're using the same device sources as Lineage on Carbon, so if there was an issue with them, then you'd have them on Carbon too, yes.
Installed about a hour ago and all is smooth. The only issue, at least per my preferences, is getting the dark mode for the messages and phone apps. I may be missing this option, but possibly someone can point me in the right direction?
Thanks. Kudos to Carbon team and myself5. :good:
Worth the wait, loving extra features added in pax, going to be my daily driver. Thanks CarbonROM team.

does this have face unlock? to clarify, I am NOT looking for face unlock... I am looking to avoid the closed source megvii implementation that has been used elsewhere. thanks!

It does not appear to have it. It doesn't show in security settings.

No, it doesn't for the very reason of not wanting to include the closed source megvii stuff

right on! I tried looking at carbon website for feature list and I remember carbon years ago being proudly open source but wanted to be sure. thanks! :highfive:
Oh this is nice, I mean really nice, it's been a while since I've been on carbon, and this is just beautiful, everything just works - so nice - thank you to carbon team bringing us this work of art and thank you @Myself5 for maintaining for us, so glad you brought this over to us, feeling kinda spoiled right now :highfive:
I installed and set it up quickly before bed last night. Paired it with NikGapps Core. Woke up to a 97% idle. Both the phone and I slept like a baby. The phone performs great while in use. Options are plentiful but not bloated. A very nice ROM indeed.

Maybe your apps need updated for dark mode?

Darkmode for Phone, Dialer and Messaging will come in the next weekly. Got to admit I forgot about them because the GApps on my daily driver replace them.

https://gitlab.com/Myself5/android_vendor_pixelgapps built into the ROM as my daily driver is a OnePlus 7T Pro at the moment.
I believe the bigger OpenGapps packages also replace these apps though.
Gapps in build in?

No.
Verizon
Has anyone tested this with Verizon? Any issues? Does Voicemail and MMS work?
