Hello Guys, as described in the title I need the build properties of an Chromecast Ultra device.
Im planning to root my 1st gen. chromecast and edit its props to pretend its an ultra for use with stadia.
Since I am playing stadia on the low resolution of 720p, there should be no technical limitations right?
Thanks in advance Guys. Stay Safe

Thanks for reading this...just purchased a 3G 8.9 not received yet...intend to root + flash an ICS ROM...heard that 1080p even 720p playback is pretty sketchy...anyone got some reassuring words or advice on the subject...thanks again
So, basically every streaming service I have tried only play back in SD, not HD. Is this a common issue for the S2? Is there any way to get it to work in HD?
I hate to say it but if not this might be going back to BestBuy today :/
Thanks!
Netflix works fine in HD here. Is your subscription set up for HD?

Whoops.

Sure am. Can you verify that HD works with this link? Should play a stream that tells you what resolution and bitrate you are actually seeing. Mine stays at 720x480, while my Nexus 7 shows 1920x1080. Bitrates are 1750 vs 5000+ respectively.

Oh, also, I am on the 8.0" WiFi US model if that matters.
Looks like I found my answer. The tablet is not on the Netflix HD list. So I guess none of them can play it.

i already brought this up in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2/help/netflix-hd-tab-s2-t3274295 . I'm quite angry since the tab s2 is marketed as an ipad air 2 competitor and it doesnt support full HD streaming. If you want to find out more about the certification process just google netflix android HD DRM. The thing is, the tablet has to be certified by Netflix. I know for a fact, that the SoC, the Exynos 5433, supports widevine Level 1 DRM technology (basically the lowest is level 3 which wouldn't be enough for HD) and HDCP 1.x which also should be enough for HD streaming. Youtube support 1080p60 videos so it's definitely not a performance issue of hardware. I suspect that the unlocked bootloader is a problem for the content providers, so if Samsung was to lock the bootloader and renegotiate with Netflix or at least ask what exactly is missing for it to be certified and add that through an update. I mean we pay for a premium tablet and a premium service, we should get what we pay for. I made contact with Netflix and Samsung, they said they would look into it. Quite curious if they actually do something, i'm still hoping! If this is an issue for you, feel free to contact themselves, so this problem can be solved, though I guess it's mostly Samsung that has to do something with the next update.

I'm also only getting 480p on Netflix, but on my unrooted, KNOX-not-tripped, SM-T810, it has no trouble achieving Widevine Level 1 DRM:
Code:
2622 WVCdm D Instantiating CDM.
2622 WVCdm I CdmEngine::QueryStatus
2622 WVCdm I Level3 Library Dec 11 2014 16:13:16
2622 WVCdm W Could not read /data/mediadrm/IDM1013/ay64.dat2: No such file or directory
2622 WVCdm D OEMCrypto_Initialize Level 1 success. I will use level 1.
2622 WVCdm I L3 Terminate.
Google Play, on the other hand, is able to achieve Level 1 as well and streams HD just fine (noticeably better quality than Netflix, even with Google's way-too-high compression). Maybe HD is being blocked on Netflix's side? They've blocked "unsupported" devices based on the device name in the past.
This device is more than able to run HD video on netflix and hulu. However I ran across an issue where I had to delete the following file for hulu to work at all. Worth a try for those of you who are rooted. Just make a backup first.
I deleted this file and hulu works.

Hi XDA!
this is my first post ever, so I'm worried about being a noob. I tried searching up the answer to my question, but I couldn't find anything.
Okay, so:
I want to buy an Elgato HD60s to record gameplay on my oneplus.
However, I heard that the Oneplus 3's charging port was not compatible with UASP. Does this mean that I will not be able to record gameplay because data doesn't transfer or anything?
I'm not a techy so I probably won't undersetand explanations. Btw if it does record, I need Full HD at 60fps.
THANK YOU ALL!!!!

Hi all,
I have just started using the Xperia 1 ii and I am really enjoying it so far! Unfortunately though I am having an issue with all the films I have bought on YouTube & Google Play Movies where for some reason the highest resolution I can select is 480p. Obviously one of the main features of this phone is its gorgeous 4K 21:9 screen, but having to watch all my films in 480p makes that sort of redundant.
I have tried watching videos on Netflix and Disney+ and had no problems (the display is mind-blowing in fact!). Non purchased videos in YouTube are fine and let me select whatever resolution I want & even downloading the films in HD from Google Play Movies doesn't fix the resolution issue either...
Has anyone else had this problem on this (or any other) phone? Is it a glitch? If so, any ideas for a possible work around would be greatly appreciated!!
Maybe it doesn't come from the phone but Google.
As you bought them with 480P resolution, they're maybe locked by Google.
Did you try to buy a new one from your Xperia 1 II?
Thank you for the reply ?
All of my films were purchased before I got my Xperia 1 ii. They still work in 1080p resolution or higher in all my other devices. So yeah it's something to do with this device, I've just got no idea what!
Have you tried to use any YouTube purchases yourself?

No I haven't tried. I don't buy anything from YouTube.
Yes I got the same issue and also found it when using Play Movie. But it happens when the movies are from the US. Asian movies are okay and allow me to choose 1080p. Maybe the issue comes from Motion Blur Reduction.
Hi all, about to purchase the S8+ but would like to get confirmation on how the S8+ performs on these three streaming apps. Does it deliver HDR on all three, or just full HD? Concerned as seeing Netflix forums changing woodvine levels on various tablets. Thanks!

Can't give you an answer for APV or Disney+, but the Tab S8+ does indeed support full HD playback and has Widevine Level 1. It also has support for HDR10+. I have a rooted S8+ and I enjoy full HD content on it regularly.
Thanks SavXL. And in Netflix can you watch in HDR or just full HD? Just trying make sure I'll get most out of the screen

It only shows the max resolution as full HD for me.
Side note, i do not think anyone adapted HDR10+ outside of Amazon.
The thing about HDR+ is that it is heavily supported by Samsung and Amazon, as a gimmick against DolbyVision. From what i know, which may have changed, you wont get HDR10+ from Netflix, Apple TV and Disney+.
