I just picked up the first Mi Mix that seems to have apps such as the play store pre-installed. That said, I'm trying to decide whether I should just stick with MIUI 11 or install custom firmware, and if so, which ones are most stable/best for the mix? Browsing some of the rom threads, it's not all that clear to me what the differences are, if they're even worth using, etc.
Pixel Experience: some of the most recent posts mention battery drain and overheating issues.
LineageOS 17.1: a post mentions issues with multiple apps.
HavocOS: possible wifi problem?
I'm really just trying to figure out which are reliable for daily use.
no
I would check CrDroid.
I am running Resurrection Remix 8.1 and it's everything all right. But I think Android 9 is not perfect in any ROM for Mi Mix...

Hello everybody,
first of all: I'm completely new to custom ROMs. I've just used some phones with CyanogenMod long ago.
Currently I have a Galaxy S8 with the default shipped Samsung OS.
I thought about buying the Huawei P20 Pro because people say it has a very good camera.
And I want to switch to custom ROMs because of privacy concerns.
Especially because I've read very bad things about Huawei collecting A LOT of my personal information and also its connection to the chinese government.
Obviously I want to install my OS without Google's services and also I want a ROM without bloatware.
I want a clean, stable and performant system.
I use the phone for surfing, chatting, mails, camera and music mainly.
Currently I'm only aware of LineageOS. Should I maybe consider another ROM too?
- How good is LineageOS in aspect of privacy?
- Does it work well on the Huawei P20?
- Is the camera as good as with Huawei's default OS?
Thank you in advance!

First off. It is a great camera so you're right there.
However, so not buy the P20 Pro, the bootloader can no longer be unlocked, so custom ROMs for a late adopter is not possible.
My advice, keep hold of the S8, personally is root I and install one of the many ROMs you probably have available , here on the p20 pro we have 2, treble doesn't work without rebooting every ten minutes and the fingerprint doesn't work.
Doesn't sound great I know, but the phones so good and lineage is decent enough if the bootloader could be unlocked I'd recommend it.
But as it can't be, I can't recommend it.
Currently owning a X526 with Lineagos 15.1 but looking for a solid (as it can be) Pie custom ROM.
It is my one an only phone and I use it all the day to accomplish all sort of tasks.
I have some annoying hiccups with Lineage and I wonder if there is a ROM, working at least as good as Lineage.
I recommend arrowOS, pixysOS, pixel experience. I have now arrowOS and its good, smooth rom
I am using now Pixel Experience and its working fine, it has many options and GCam integrated.
I've been using Lineage 16 since October and it's working really well for me. Stable, practically bug free, camera works fine (I'm using Footej Cam), great battery life, fast fingerprint scanner. I'm still on the first release though there have been 4 updates since.
What hiccups are you facing?
Havoc 2.0 is the most stable pie rom

I'm using Pixel Experience as my daily driver and it works great. Really smooth and camera does not lag as in other roms (it used to but it has been fixed).
Really good all-around.

Agree.. :good:
I have the same question, and am deciding between PixelExperience 9 vs Lineage 16 vs Lineage 15.1
I just want to do this whole process once and not have to do it again cuz of some bug.
Maybe I should just keep the Android 6 it comes with?

Just keep Android 6. I don't recommend EUI either. Use a slimmed down EUI version. My favorite is smallEUI by aurel. It's the favorite custom EUI rom and the most stable as well. Go for version 3 because 4 is not yet finalized.
In your opinion guys, what is the best option for daily use between all of those in the title?
Thanks in advance.
Stock used to be really good, but ever since Pie it has gone to hell. Their Pie updates have become a ****show.
MIUI from xiaomi.eu is actually good but the fact that you need to convert to 6X and that you mustn't use OTA updates or else you are gonna have to stay with it is what makes it not worth it.
Pixel Experience is so-so. There hasn't been a build for some time now and it doesn't have OTA updates so flashing every update becomes annoying(for me).
Havoc is what I'm using at the moment. It's the most stable and supported of all of the ROMs above I would say, and it does have OTA updates too. The only thing that I don't like about it is that the Google Sans font is kinda modified and it doesn't really look like the font on the Pixels, but I think there is a Magisk module for that which I haven't tried, yet.
Resurrection Remix.
Ressurection Remix , best ROM for Android phones 4 last few years ...
MIUI works very good. And the problem of 4/64gb freezing in A2 is solve. Facial recognition and DT2W and now it has double tap to screen off. Very awesome!
Hi,
I own ZUK Z2 Pro that I have unlocked, flashed with AOSP Extended v4.6 official and rooted many moons ago. I simply can't fault this device or this rom, but one thing - the camera quality is very poor. I know it was poor on official ZUI rom as well, so I had no regrets to move to AOSP Extended, which I am very happy with. And I would continue to use this outdated Nougat rom, but I am about to perform a factory reset, so I thought I could try something newer. However, I read the topics and some new custom roms are somewhat buggy. I can adjust / sacrifice some UI glitches providing the camera gets a quality boost with GCAM mod, which as far as I know is not supported on my old rom.
So the question I wanted to ask is. Are the new custom roms having a better google camera mod to what a stock ZUI app or old custom roms had? Is the gcam worth it? Is there a rom that you could recommend that fits with gcam mod well?

Yes, it's really worth it. I recommend updating to android 10 (PixysOS - https://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z2-pro/development/pixysos-3-0-4-official-zuk-z2-pro-t4080859).
I installed AEX, although it has good resources, I found serious problems and the above ROM seems to be the best.
You must follow the procedures, updating with original ROM - ZUI 4, and then updating with android 10, in order to use API2Camera.
I'm using this version of GCAM:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1150/
You have to configure it, front camera not to keep the photos with green tones, you can download an xml with the settings.
front camera Nexus6, and rear google pixel xl.
The difference of other cameras for GCAM (with correct configuration), is very great. You will have much better photos and videos.

Thank you so much for your input. From what I have read about all Android 10 custom roms for ZUK Z2 pro, they all suffer from some bugs and flaws. Whether that is going to improve - only the time will tell, but looking at how old this device already is, we may not see a great improvement.
As you have probably already gathered, I prefer older, more stable roms. Is the GCAM mod so good on Android 9 as well? And is the API2Camera available on Android 9? Thanks

Yes, all ROMs have little problems.
I was running Android 10, and I had a problem with magisk, and I needed to re-install the ROM urgently, as the android 9 files were stored inside the zuk, I ended up going back to the android pie.
I have a lot of activities, as soon as I have some time I will return to android 10, because I thought it was better.
The two ROMs that look best to me are Arrow and PixyOS.
AEX has great features, but it has several problems. I didn't test evolution-X.
GCAM, for me, works best on android 10. But yes, it also works on android 9.
My experience with android 10 (Arrow and PixyOS) were good and I recommend, I think this is better than the ROM with android 9.
In Zuk Z2 pro, between versions 8.1, 9 and 10, in my experience, the best ones are, 8.1 and 10.
As version 10 I can use the latest versions of GCAM, this will be my ROM.
Best version I found:

Hello, my name is Luis, I hope everyone is quite well like me, I wanted to ask what is currently the best Pure Android ROM for the device "Xiaomi Redmi Note 9" that has the following features:
- Optimized, light and fluid.
- Good battery life
- NO overheating (except for games)
- Good performance in demanding games
There are many things I do not know yet, can you tell me important things to consider.
Thanks to for the attention, I look forward to a prompt reply.
Well, Project Elixir is probably the best one, even though it got discontinued in January and it's not stable, I use it as my daily driver as I don't want to use the MIUI rabbit hole. It's based on AOSP. In other words, it's just a modded Pixel Experience ROM. You won't definitely game on that phone lol. That MediaTek chipset has already issues on the stock MIUI. The install guide is easy if you will follow the instructions on the Telegram. Group name: ppui_merlin. The Google Pay/Wallet works straight without needing to install the safetynet-patch. The ROM comes with Google Play Services, since it's just Pixel Experience after all.
Okay, thanks for taking the time to write, I hope it will be very useful... I will follow the step by step... I've been trying for more than 3 months to install a custom recovery to the terminal but, I never end up succeeding. The device currently has the bootloader unlocked but it still doesn't work. I already did several times the process with XiaomiTools v2 and it does not work, I was going to do it through commands with CMD but, I had to install some drivers which were not allowed to install because apparently you have to remove other drivers that prevent the installation of the drivers I need, I use a generic cable and another original of the same brand Xiaomi but, this charger is from a Redmi Note 10... it should still work but unfortunately it never works with both cables.
I would like to know how I can completely remove the drivers that my device does not need and at the same time remove the XiaomiTools V2 program permanently both.... To start again with the method of installing the custom recovery by ADB commands with the CMD.
Do you have a more convenient place where I can communicate with you? It would be very useful. Again, thank you very much

The maintainer of the PPUI was the same one for Project Elixir. PPUI got abandoned 1 month before the PE. I can't say whether there's a huge difference between them as the Founder of PE is also a Co-founder of the PPUI. The sites also share a similar design, meaning they're really close to each other. Forgot to mention that PE got abandoned around 2/3 months ago. December was the last month when there was a release of 3.4.

I would probably say that LineageOS is the baren bones one. You would need to install GApps. But it's still in development and there are only nightly (every week) releases for now. So far, I'm surprised that someone is still interested in this junk MediaTek chipset and still trying to make it at least somehow good for use.
hahaha, it's because I still don't have the money to buy another mobile but well, the case, do you know about any port for the redmi note 9? that is a13 or a14

LineageOS is like pure android, extremely light and gets updated often, although I can only find the download link for a NIGHTLY build, meaning it gets updated really often meaning that it can have bugs, I cant find a stable build for some reason anywhere, probably not out yet for LOS 20, and you cant download older versions on the los site sadly
