Any clues whether Here Maps will support Android Auto? I personally like it more than Google Maps so it would be great to know if it is coming to Android Auto.

Google does not support 3rd party mapping apps on Android Auto, only audio and messaging apps.
Well, I really hope Google gets a change of heart. That is terrible The strenght of Android is the fact that you can tailor everything to your needs. Let's hope Google sees that as well. Google maps is far from perfect.

what is your problem with Google Maps?
Turn by turn navigation in my country (Belgium) is sub-par compared to Here Maps or the Tomtom app for example. It's just not as good. I am not saying it is bad, it's just that there are better navigation apps. Turn-by-turn navigation is something I use everyday and then I want only the best.
And I am not condemning Google maps, I just want Google to allow alternative navigation apps on Android Auto. The openness of the Android platform has always been their strength. Locking things down is not going to make anything better. One can only hope for a hack to become available to be able to use all apps with Android Auto.
Hello !
Same question for me.. when I travel and I need GPS, I use HERE because everything is offline, I can't use google maps in other country because I have no roaming
I think this discussion fits pretty good into this thread.... (is there a need for a xposed AA module ?)

this may be an alternative to Andorid Auto for Here Maps access
Hello,
I have Android auto app on my Blu(TM) One Life X2 android phone to work with m 2016 Veloster. I was very used to Here Maps and tried to add Here Maps to add to Android Auto. SInce AA is a Google App and it did not let me do that. So, I found AutoMate (Tried to put the link, post denied it, Just search the name AutoMate on Google Play Store) and it lets one to add Here Maps as a preferred Map/Naviation App and as well as other apps on your phone to work with the Dashboard.
Hope this works.

Can you explain how to do?

He is not talking about android auto.. You can't do it there.. He is talking about automate which run android. It basically can use any android app there. It just a kind of launcher which mimic the interface of android auto. If this is what someone wants, it is ok. But you can't use this in car which their system support only android auto..

Hi,
I like to know your experience with the Voice Infos App:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fabbro.voiceinfos.trial
This App is listed as OFFICIAL Android Auto compatible:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_3001303_android_auto_all
But, I don't know how to use it!
It's not listed anywhere in AA and I don't know how to start it.
Can you help me?
I have installed the Android Auto app on a Carjoying radio and despite the fact that in the Google playstore it says that my device is not compatible, it works without problems. I am using Android Auto as launcher (through some other app which lets you define any app as launcher). My problem however is that not all the apps that I like to use have been designed/adapted for Android Auto. Question: Is there a way where I can lauch non Android Auto apps from Android Auto or can I only use the build in apps?
Thanks in advance
Regards
Kurt
Android Auto only works with specific types of apps (and only those that have enabled the integration), namely messaging apps and music/audio apps.

Android Auto isn't designed to be a launcher or to work like that.
You're best best is to try AutoMate from the app store instead. It will give you the same look but works with lots of other apps.

How to make Galaxy S8/S8+ and Android Auto on Chevy MyLink 2017 7 Inch Display to mirror all the apps?
On the chevy System i can see only Waze and Google Maps on the apps list
I guess that these apps have some flag or the Android Auto app that installed on the phone is looking for the specific apk name of the Google Maps and the Waze apps
Anyone knows about bypass of it?
Long story short, Google has to approve the app for it to be used on Android Auto. If it isn't approved, yer outta luck.

Sorry for the question, just very new to the android auto world.
There isn't any development that could bypass this?
A "Custom Rom" for android auto.
Hi.
Been reading on this forum about android auto.
My main reason for rooting is to get aa mirroring.
With all the post out there about this i need help to clarify somethings:
I have the latest play store version.
I have huawei mate 20 pro with root. (9.0.0.208 stock, with root)
I have a brand new kenwood dnx7018dab with support for android auto.
Now the main question:
1. What apps do i need to get mirroring?
I have installed whats seems to be the latest aamirror.apk.
I have installed aaunlock.apk and aa phenotype patcher.
I get the extra icon down in my right corner of android auto screen in my headunit, but no aamirror option.
My goal is to get Netflix, DreamTV, Snapchat, firefox, youtube and other 3 party apps up on my headunit. (Aftermarket Kenwood)
Can anyone help me with what apps i need? Do not think i need/want carstream..
Sorry for the input if the answer is already present in this forum.
My android auto version is 4.1 xxxx

Kenneth - Norway
