Hey everyone,
I got my new Nexus One yesterday and was so excited and happy about it. I played with it yesterday night, connected to wifi at home and downloaded a few apps. I have an HTC Magic, so I'm familiar with Android. So this morning, I get the Froyo update notification and install it. And since then, I can't seem to be able to connect to my wifi. It hangs on the "Obtaining IP address..." message and can't connect.
Anyone else seeing this problem? All my other devices at home (including HTC Magic) are connecting fine.
Thanks for your help.
Hi all,
I am from Aussie land. I am proud owner of a Nook Color. I got it on Saturday. (one of my friend traveling to America got it for me.) I was following the website from last two weeks and I would like to thank you all for such a wonderful website with lot of information.
I rooted and installed lot of apps my NC yesterday. I am very impressed by it.
I have one question about Wifi. I hope you guys can help me. I have an iPhone 3gs and I followed the instructions on this thread "AdHoc Wifi support on the NC!" [FIX] AdHoc Wifi support on the NC! - xda-developers
I was able to work it out. My NC is recognizing my iPhone but is not able connect. Is there any alternative method?
I was wondering if it is possible to tether internet from my iPhone to NC from the microSd port. I was thinking of using a usb female to microsd adapter/converter or a usb female-female adapter to connect iPhone usb cable to NC. Will this work?
I live in country side and both these adapters are not available in my town. I will have to buy them online. I want to know if this will work in the mean while.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Not with any cables.
the only way to do this is to share your internet connection via wifi.
this will probably be availible in the next firmware update 4.3 wich is currently in beta testing.
otherwise you can jailbreak your phone and install mywi through the CydiaStore which will also allow you to do tethering through a wifi hotspot.
Thanks Diemex. I did jailbreak my iPhone and and installed mywi and then followed the AdHoc Wifi support on the NC instructions. My NC is recognising my iphone but is not connecting. It says obtaining address for a long time and then disconnects.
Keep messing with it. It works using mywi on my iPhone.

Thanks eyecrispy. I deleted the adhoc fix and also Mywi and reinstalled both. Bazinga! its working now. Thank you.
hmmm
I have the same exact issue and no matter what I do.. it doesn't work. I will try reinstalling again - perhaps the Mywi is not working properly or something... thx for the hope this can work!
NC running honeycomb 4 - everything works with the exception of wifi. tried hard reboots several times, tried reloading the sd card, and checked my wireless router.
I am stuck with "Obtaining IP address" message.
Home and office laptop, son's itouch, and Wii connect without issue.
Any thoughts to remedy would be appreciated.
NikosDad (aka Chris)
PS - i have tried to search/read up about this problem but do not seem to find an answer that helps. Son (and I) are itching to have some fun with this.
shameless bump to see if anyone can provide some insight
Hello, I hope someone can help me. I have a Nook HD, set up for the UK, and I have set it up, added my accounts, etc. Everything is working well, except for the "Your Nook Today" screen. When I open it, it gives me the following message:
Recommendations and today's weather are waiting for you, but you need to connect to the Internet first.
SIMPLY TAP THE WIFI ICON AND CONNECT TO A NETWORK TO CONTINUE.
The Nook is connected to my home wifi network, and I have also tried it using a portable hotspot on my mobile phone, with the same result. I purchased the original tablet on 31st August, which had this issue, and the replacement arrived today (3rd September) with the same issue.
Has anyone come across this issue before, and is there a solution for it? Nook have offered to replace it as faulty, but given that two identical devices have had the same problem, I don't think a third one would sort it out.
My home wifi is working fine, as I am using it to connect this laptop I am typing this message on. Added to which, the Nook is connected to it, and all the downloads work fine. It is connected to my email, and Google Play, etc, as well as to my Nook account.
Any ideas folks?
By the way, it is fully stock, with no root, CWM, etc.

Hi Ursula, I'm experiencing the same problem, read the responses you've had on a couple other sites, just wondered if you'd managed to get this sorted?
Stuart.
Sorry Stuart, I had my second one replaced with a third one, and that has the same problem. I contacted Nook again via their online chat, and they have acknowledged that others have this problem too. This seems to be a server problem within Nook and they are looking into it. They will get back to me when they have a solution.

Ah, that's a pain, although good to know that they have acknowledged it and are investigating, fingers crossed it'll be up and working again soon!
I just bought the HD version yesterday and also have the same problem, so it seems a widespread issue.

Same problem here on 1 x 16GB Nook HD and 2 x 8GB Nook HD's (bought in the UK last week).
I've emailed Nook support who suggested trying to connect to a different wi-fi network but that hasn't fixed the issue.
Don't think I'm missing much, but still irritating.
I first tried my own home router, in England and my android hotspot, also in England. Now I'm at my in-laws house in Northern Ireland, and it doesn't work here too. As you say Finster14, not a major issue, but irritating.

I've just finished chatting online to Nook, as there is no call centre to ring. They are now saying that it may (only may) be fixed in a new update. However, they did not say when this update would happen, nor did they say that the next update will definitely fix it. I tried to narrow the adviser down to a guesstimate on timescales, and was told that it may be a couple of months, but they were not sure about that.
It all seems very vague. They don't know how the problem started, what the nature of the problem is, why it only affects certain Nook tablets, and how long it will take to fix it (assuming it can be fixed). My partner's Nook HD was bought before mine, and his has none of these problems. I am currently re-downloading the same firmware from the Nook site, in the vain hope that it will fix the problem. I expect it will make no difference, but I can only try, and see what happens. The link for the firmware is below, and works for both sizes of the Nook HD (the 8gb and 16gb versions). It will not work on any other Nook device, but the website has the firmwares for other devices.

I got a firmware update a few days ago to version 2.2.0. I hoped this new firmware would solve the "Your Nook Today" problem; but no such luck. Nook online can offer no further help to resolve this problem, so I am no further forward.
Good evening all,
Has anybody in the UK had success in connecting their Chromecast to A SkyHub? I have tried several times, but I cannot connect it, I have had to use my old trusted Belkin to do this...
Thanks
Matt
Hey Matt, got one of these myself a few days ago. Managed to get it connected and set up via my Sky Hub (newish white one), but then couldn't get anything to cast properly and it kept freezing up and becoming unresponsive. Have sent it back as faulty and got a replacement on the way, so will see if it was just the unit.
What problems did you have and did you ever manage to resolve them?
Chris.
All working fine here with 2 chromecasts, one UK and the other US. Black Sky hub, whcih is the newest router
You might to ask this person

At least they had it working at some point...
Got mine working the other day but had problems.
I couldn't activate it via a Win7 machine, kept getting an error saying it was unable to find the chromecast online. The only way I could set it up was to use an app on my phone. Now that it's setup everything seems to be working ok.
White Sky hub approx 9 months old.
