I accidentaly locked bootloader with TWRP installed. NEED HELP! - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Hello guys. I ruined my phone pretty bad.
It's a long story, but i had android 8 on my note 8 rooted with magisk. I decided to update, so i used smart swich to do it (first mistake).
The software updated and got stuck to samsung logo.
After i flashed TWRP and installed magisk again, the phone did start, i did setup things etc.
Then it came the 2nd big mistake. I accidentally locked OEM with TWRP intalled (i forgot i didnt fully clean my phone from unwanted software before doing that).
Then my phone was looping because of FRP protection.
In the download mode it was telling me the Current binary was "custom".
I downloaded lastest rom from UDPATO and tried to flash the new fresh untouched ROM.
But i got an error SW REV. CHECK FAIL(BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 12, BINARY 5. After that, the CURRENT BINARY went to "Samsung Official" and instead of FRP protection bootloop i got stuck with the "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use Emergency recovery function in Smart Switch PC software." message.
I know what that means, I have a newer bootlaoder then the one i try to install, but did not find a post on this entire internet about bootloader version 12 on note 8!
I know I was dumb by locking the bootloader with twrp install in the first place, but there is any way to make it possible to flash the ROM via Odin?
I can't find a binary with version 12 of bootloader.
I can acces download mode, but anything else I do ends with the error: "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use Emergency recovery function in Smart Switch PC software."
This is the log from Odin.

Use samfirm.exe or frija to download the latest firmware for your phone (Both can be found in xda search).
The firmware will be official but knox will ALWAYS be tripped (0x1) meaning no more Samsung Pay and other knox related apps. No going back period!
As you noticed once on bootloader version 12 ("C") it won't accept any bootloader versions lower then 12. No going back to 11 or 10 or 9 or ..... No downgrading!

You guys just saved my day! Thanks, didnt knew about samfirm, or frija. Both are great tools.
Thank GOD for this community, this is the reason I AM NEVER GONNA HAVE ANOTHER IPHONE AGAIN.
I owned only 1, to see how it is, between androids.
Thank you guys again, Odin is doing his job on the background.
Great response time too!

[Q] Bricked ? ? ?

SGH-I537 AT&T
1. Phone is never seen by or connects to Kies, just stays at Connecting. USB drivers are installed, and when connected to PC you get device connection tone, but phone is not seen in My Computer like normal.
When I enter the Model # SGH-I537 and the SN#, it comes back with...Please check the model name and enter it. Or it connects and message comes back from Samsung saying something like it can't verify the phone. For some stupid reason I can't find the latest official firmware for my phone 4.4.2, all I can find is 4.2.2.
Someone told me if you flash using Odin that you need to flash with the same firmware that is currently on your phone. I also hate to use Odin as I've heard of so many people bricking their phone with Odin. I'm not sure what's available for the I537, but once when I bricked my S2, I was able to connect a USB jig that shorted a couple of the pins, and this allowed me to boot into recovery. I wish I had something this simple of my S4 Active.
I'm in a bad way, I sold this phone, so I went into recovery to do wipe and reset the phone to factory, wipe was successful, but when rebooted it would only boot to Download mode. So then I tried to use Kies, and with Kies I never actually got into recovery, then the next time I rebooted, it went the Firmware upgrade encountered an issue for Kies, and is currently stuck there. I listed the phone online for sale and was purchased overnight. Now I have a phone that is worthless in its current state. Phone was only rooted, its never had anything else on it but stock firmware. I rooted it to use battery savers and get rid of some of the bloat.
I at updated it OTA to 4.4.2, and then rooted with towel. I tried to used Odin to push 4.3 I got off XDA official firmware, but that just failed. Anyone have an bright ideas? Help Please ! ! !

Kies does not work with the i537, AT&T will not allow Samsung to release any of the firmware. You have nothing to worry about though, all you need to do is put the phone in download mode and use Odin to flash the ML2 package. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT LOAD THE BOOTLOADER IN ODIN, IT WILL FAIL TO FLASH. Flash the other 3 files in Odin, reboot the phone to stock recovery and flash the NE3 OTA.
You're fine, it'll be in working condition by the end of the night.
Sounds Positive

Thanks for you help on this holiday weekend! I will give this a try tomorrow and cross my fingers. I was able to download the ML2 package, but I'm not sure about the NE3 OTA, I'm getting a lot of different hits when I do a search for it. Could you possible reply back with a link? I not sure what NE3 is, was that an update? I basically want to leave the phone stock for the new owner. Or are you saying that the ML2 flash will fix my phone, and after I have successfully booted my phone, I can go into settings/about phone/ software update, and this will give me NE3 OTA?
I see two different files:
ML2 to NE3 OTA File 444 MB
NC9 to NE3 OTA File 66.4 MB
BTW, I read somewhere in a post that if you are going to run/use odin, then you can not have Kies installed on your PC, any truth to this?

I've never heard about the Kies / Odin issue, although that doesn't mean it's not true in certain cases.
NE3 is the latest firmware, you mentioned you were already on 4.4.2, so this will ensure that you're back on 4.4.2, and should fix some of the bugs with the original 4.4.2 OTA that was pushed a couple months ago.
The 2 OTA files you referenced are for updating from different firmware. So since your phone will be on ML2 and you're going to update it to NE3, you need to download the 444MB file and flash it through stock recovery.

Thats your issue right there. You cant downgrade from U4 firmware to a U3 firmware. Your best bet would be flashing the u4 combo file for 7.1 then flashing the u3 system only from a u3 firmware, im not 100% sure if the u4 bootloader has binary check like the new s9 / s9+ has but thats your only option, once you took the u4 ota you locked yourself to 8.0 and no direct route to 7.1.1 now
note 8 sm-n950u(tmobile)oreo to nougat
I understand about not being able to downgrade but someone mentioned a v4 combo nougat rom but have been searching and have only been able to find up to version 3 bootloader. have
rn16nw/n950usqs4cre1
tmobile carrier note 8
using odin v. 3.13.1

so sad buying android is specifically just only for freedom of downgrade, not like ios. but now samsung does not allow this.
will sell this damn phone and get back to ioss

Looking for a ROM with dual SIM cards + SD card support

I am located in Peru and my phone is SM-N950F.

I tried using two versions of Odin. I did restart my computer. I'm using the same cable.
Other than the Sammobile firmwares, can I download another ROM that will let me use both SIM+SD cards?
Thanks.

Use the last oreo firmware you'll might need to factory reset your phone though.
What is your csc?
eg.
PEO - N950FXXS 5 CSA1 (OREO)
Make sure the firmware has a "5" in the ninth spot. Notice the spaced out 5 in above PEO firmware..
Thank you @BluePhnx. Right now I have installed N950FXXU5CRL1. It's Oreo and it works but it doesn't read both SIM cards and the SD card at the same time.
Firmware from Sammobile N950FXXS3CRF1_N950FUWB3CRE3_PEO resulted in a Fail. O was gonna try with other two but none of them has the five on the 9th spot, so I guess they're going to fail too.
The only FW with the 5 in the 9th spot are relatively recent and Pie. I can't see find a older oreo FW with the 5.

That 5 is the bootloader version and it won't allow you to downgrade itself to version 4 or 3. Only goes up in version.
You'll just need to find a firmware with bl v5 that will work..

Thank you again.
I'm gonna install:
Security Patch Level 2018-09-01
Product code PEO
PDA N950FXXU5CRHA
CSC N950FUWB5CRI1
I guess it should work since it's the oldest with the 5 bl.
I'm also facing the same problem after updating it to PIE in India. Unable to use 2 sim and ad card.
Please suggest something good so it works.

Just plug it in to the computer and flash N950F firmware and just flash it on that error screen.. It will still flash on that screen.

Which bootloader version are you on and what firmware are you flashing?
For example:
If your on N950FXXU"6"DSF6 your on bootloader version 6 so I would flash any N950FXXU"6".... firmware, you can't flash any firmware below that, so no ver 5 or below
(N950FXXU"5"..... not going to flash). Same goes for 5 , 4 , 3, and 2 bootloaders can't downgrade to lower version!
If you're on multi-CSC OXM (csc N950F"OXM"U6DSF6) use any with the OXM in the firmware name.
Use the home-CSC to keep data intacted!
Or
Use the CSC file to erase data and go back to stock.
If you are coming from a carrier csc phone like OVF to OXM you have to use the CSC file.
Try another usb cable and/or usb port.
Please give more information:
What firmware you are on?
What CSC are you on?
What firmware you tried to flash?
Look at the Download mode screen for Bootloader version and CSC.
edit....
Look for the line:
RP SWVER B: 6 K: 1 S: 1 (the B: 6 is your bootloader version).

You can not get into download mode with power+bixby+vol-down at all?
Can you get into recovery mode?
If you can try doing a factory reset or selecting the option to boot into download mode.
Try using Samsung smart switch on pc to do a factory recovery.
Or visit a Samsung repair store.

You are probably better off asking for help in the thread of the rom you tried to flash (try seaching on the thread for the same problem as yours first), or creating your own thread to ask for help.

Question Unbrick S21 Ultra

Had some issue during flashing, and the process got interrupted.
Now the phone is stuck on "An error has occured while updating the device software", can't get in to recovery or download mode.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What exactly are you trying to do? Flashing G998 to G991? Is that a mistype or are you actually trying to flash a different device firmware on your phone?

ok. let me try again
Hi all,
I really need some help. I bricked my S21 Ultra. I bought it in Thailand and wanted to change it to German CSC. And it now shows on the screen "an error occured while updating the sofware".
Frst in red it was saying something ike
Hash of Data Does Not Match Digest in DescriptorNow it only says "DEBORE :" nothing behind it....
I tried installing HOME_CSC_OXM_G998BOXM4BULI from HOME_CSC_OXM_G998BOXM4BVB1 (I entered all 4 flles in ODIN, ticked only Auto_Reboot and F.Rest Time ticked.
I cannot restart it or shut it off. It always come back to that screen.
Can anyone help?
In future you'll find that the error has occured screen is actually download mode it just displays a different screen. If you plug your phone in it registers and flashes fine from that screen.

make sure you get the latest firmware using frija and delete then reinstall latest drivers from samsung. use a different cable perhaps and a usb 2.0 port. If your quick you can access download mode by inserting the cable just as the phone reboots from button combo
