Android 11 and Google Fi help! - Google Pixel 4 XL Questions & Answers

Can someone on Fi and Android 11 beta confirm their phone still switches between Tmobile and Sprint? I'm trying to troubleshoot mine stuck on only tmobile with fi support and I don't want to wipe and go back to Android 10 to see
thank you!

I thought that too. Maybe google support doesn't know the Sprint Fi dialer code doesn't work yet.
I was out of town in a tmobile dead zone and a friend of mine on Sprint had great coverage and data.
All my calls went to voicemail and I couldn't call out, yet my data was fast.
This all happened on a replacement refurbished phone they sent me because my proximity sensor died in my last 4xl
The escalated my ticket. So we'll see
Thank you!

Working fine for me. I've been checking throughout the day through the dialer and it's been switching every so often.

I downloaded it and tried Sprint and it still came back invalid mcc/mnc sprint (310120)
thank you for trying and letting me know.
Fi support had me do a bunch of cache/data clearing and uninstalling fi app and reinstalling then reactivating.
I just emailed them back saying the Sprint dialer code still didn't work...
I did see sprint pop up for a couple seconds this morning in the signalcheck pro app
I guess I'll see what they say before trying wiping and going back to 10 to see if it works.
I'm beginning to wonder if the refurbished phone they sent to replace my old phone isn't a fi phone

It did, I tried manually for both, then I set it back to automatic, and all the switching was seamless.

[Q] One Dev Ed Network Selection?

For those that have received theirs can anyone confirm if you can manually force the phone into 3G/H+? I know the branded at&t devices don't let you choose networks without custom mods but wondered if the dev edition allowed this out of the box.
Mine arrived today but unfortunately I won't be home for another week.
Thx

Yes you can. Just go into settings, mobile data, Network mode and you can set no LTE and force HSPA.

Dang sorry can't help with that. Maybe large quantities of booze?

3G just dropped and hasn't returned??

I've been on Viper rom for the past several months. Today my 3g just dropped and it will not turn back on no matter what I do. Airplane, reboot..nothing. Anyone had this issue? Could it be a PRL issue?
It's most likely not a PRL issue. Try updating your data profile, but more then likely it's a Sprint issue and nothing to do with your phone. My 3g has gotten so bad I don't even try to use it anymore. If I can't connect to WiFi, I just shut data off completely. Sad that Sprint has come to that.

Nah I doubt it. My G/f has Sprint, her phone is fine. A couple buddies at work have Sprint and they're fine. It's been like like the last 10-12 hours at work, they use their phones just fine while my data is 100% gone.
I'm on wifi now, I did a profile update and nothing. This is crazy...it's almost like I have mobile data switched off but it isn't. Never had this issue before.

Check your SIM card. If your towers have been upgraded to NV, 3G AND 4G data won't work if there is a problem with the SIM card. People have said the SIM only affects 4G data, but this is not true if the SIM card is removed or not detected in an NV area. Usually the phone will tell you if there is a problem with the SIM card though.
I just went through this on my new Red HTC One because the SIM Wirefly sent with the device was defective. I noticed I could only get 3G from my Airrave, and not any towers around here. That is because the towers here are NV towers and it is connecting in CDMA eHRPD mode for 3G/4G handoff, which requires a SIM card to work properly. I flipped the phone to CDMA only and it is working fine now in EVDO Rev A mode.

Nexus 6 on Sprint

I just received my 32 GB Nexus 6 that I purchased on the Motorola store and I have not been able to successful activate it on Sprint. When they activate the phone both LTE and 3g work perfectly, but I am unable to make or receive calls and SMS . When talking to sprint they show that the device is activated correctly and can not find a reason why it would not work. Currently i am waiting on sprint to work a ticket for this issue, but I was wondering if any one else has run into this and if so were and how were you able to get it resolved.

possibly due to wifi calling enabled on your line?
after activating mine over the phone and watching my phone "update device config" by itself.. When I finally decided to make a phone call 30 mins later and noticed it not working.. I had to go under carrier settings and "update device config" a few times before my calling finally started working.. since then everything had worked fine..

I have been through that so many times and no luck. The only thing I can think of is the IMEI whit listing issues I have been reading about with the CDMA carriers.
Just in case any one else is having this issue or considering buying a Nexus 6 from Motorola to use with Sprint I wanted to follow up with how this ended.
After a week of going back and forth with Sprint, talking to them at least once a day and having multiple tickets opened and closed they were not able to provide a solution. The final answer they gave me was that the IMEI was not compatible with Sprint, even though the phone should be. They then continued to say that unless the phone is purchased from them they can not guarantee it will work and suggested I return the Motorola purchased phone. In the end the phone was more important to me than being a Sprint customer, and luckily I was in a position to leave Sprint after being a customer for 12 years. After porting my number over to AT&T my Nexus 6 is now working perfectly.
I can't say this will be an issue for all users purchasing a Nexus 6 from a seller other that Sprint but it is something to consider before doing so.

That sucks man, well I ported my # over to Sprint from Verizon and mine activated just fine - then again I didn't order mine from Motorola. I don't know your situation is a bit ridiculous though maybe your nano sim needed to be replaced..

That is one of the first things we tried. I honestly thing it has something to do with the IMEI white listing but that is just my conclusion from reading other articles regarding similar issues.

[Q] No incoming calls while WiFi is on

So my problem is that while being connected to WiFi, my phone cannot receive any incoming calls. I have flashed several Roms and radios to see if that would fix the problem, as well as playing with the APN settings. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just lucky? I am on T-Mobile so I'm hoping the WiFi calling makes this a moot point, but I'd still like to fix this for the time being. Same issue for sending or getting MMS, but textra has a work around for that. Thanks for your time and input.

Turn off enhanced LTE in Settings>more>cellular networks>carrier settings.
Apparently this issue is STILL present and it dates back to April and now it effects Project Fi users as well. How do Sprint customers deal with this, 4 MONTH missing calls and texts ?
I'm on my second nexus and its still an issue, seems like there is no way to fix this. I would like to know how many users are affected....

Thanks. On Fi for a couple of days, and it's locked on Sprint at home. At least I know what to expect and keep an eye out for.
The issue actually dated back to December 2014 lol.....
It might have gotten better on Project Fi at least....last time I tested I received all 5 calls. I wonder when Sprint implemented that semi fix?

It wasn't implemented by Sprint, rather resourceful users through trial and error.
I had surely thought this was a Sprint specific issue, as we have been plagued by issues involving their network. I'm referring to the duplicate texting problems that were finally resolved in 5.1.1, so for once, I'm surprised that I can't #blameSprint.

The main issue on sprint seems to be that the phone has to switch from LTE to 3g to ring the phone, and for some reason it's having a problem doing that while on WIFI. Therefore being were all forced to run our phones in 3g mode. The phone has no problem ringing on WIFI.
your project fi should work fine on sprint.. When someone calls you on project Fi your phone uses LTE for calls ( or wifi ). No need for your phone to switch back and forth..
The easy fix for sprint on this is to just enable WIFI calling on the Nexus..

It hasnt worked on Project Fi, its the same issue as on Sprint. It did get better.....perhaps they are tweaking it. Lately its been working fine, so maybe they fixed it. Fi has different issue now....no band 12 support on M and people that run L build with B12 say they miss calls on Tmobile because Fi doesnt support VoLTE on B12

Xiaomi Mi5 GSM issues. (Resolved)

Resolved: Wouldn't connect to T-Mobile networks, connected fine to AT&T. Guessing it was band limitations. (Should have checked bands.)
Here in California, USA and can't seem to even connect to the 2G/3G services on T-Mobiles networks. Popped in my SIM card last night and got a MetroPCS banner for about a second. Haven't been able to get it to work since. Always no bars, no service. Any tips?
Here's a screenshot of my lack of signal. I seem to get signal for a second, then it just disconnects. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I always get emergency calls only, it reads that there is a SIM card inserted for both slot 1 & 2 plus it reads the phone number of the card AND even contacts on the card but doesn't connect to the network. :/
is that some Quality Assurance issues or a general problem?
Also getting issues with signal, weaker than any other of phones , sometimes drops call, or caller hear me with pause, ( i'm techinician, repairing phones, having a lot of tests), i'm in EU. Because lack of band 20 4g+ isn't working here i think. Overall a lot of people got defective units. Mine also have loudspeaker problems, tryed to calibrate via service menu, still the same.
