I've lately been looking at the Mi Mix, and must say it it much more appealing than the S8 that one will be seeing everywhere shortly.
If ordered, it will probably be used with the Epic rom or similar. English or Norwegian language.
This in mind, which version should one order, and from where? I see many advertising with "global rom" and "multilanguage" etc. but I assume this does not matter if a custom rom will be used anyway?
The 256gb 18k is the one that's interesting.

It depends on what you will do with the device, how app-intensive is your day in the context of the number of apps you have open at any one time.
At this point though, there is little to no reason not to go for the 6Gb RAM/256Gb Storage version.
The Mix has good roms now (RR, Lineage) with no bugs, so if you're thinking about going that way, then the stock rom doesn't matter.
I would recommend going for having the Global rom when you're buying. Why? Because all devices are factory flashed with the chinese roms, but if you want a global one, then the vendor will take care of unlocking the device & they usually leave it that way, without bothering re-locking it again.
This means that you can flash from day 1 & don't need to bother applying for unlock permissions.

My apologies for not being specific in my original post. I'll be getting the 256gb Mi Mix, and was attempting to refer to which rom version to choose.
You did however answer that as well, which is much appreciated. Then I'll be looking for one with the global rom.
Have anyone ordered from Goldway on Ali? Lots of places sell these, but I'm not sure which are legit.
If you're in the USA I have an extra new 256Gb version I have decided to sell, was keeping it as a back up in case my daily Mix failed but have since decided I'd rather not have the money tied up in two Mi Mixes.
I'm in Norway, but shipping across the pond isn't that bad with USPS. Send me a PM with model details and a price if you're still interested in selling.

global rom supports multilanguage, google play etc
6GB /256GB ... get an untampered one with the Chinese rom, unlock it your self and root it yourself then choose the rom YOU want. There are many complaints here and there about Vendor roms with adds and malware etc. Best way to avoid those is go in stock [Chinese] and do the work yourself to root and rom it.
Thanks! Would you be able to recommend a site where I could acquire one? I see most on Ali (recommended sellers) have the global rom.
I'm also looking to get one, what site do you guys recommend and how much should it be going for these days?

Hey romors666, I'm interested in your mi mix. I'm in the state. pm me for detail, thanks
I bought mine on AliExpress, including shipping to UK for 256GB model £430.08. I got sealed, don`t want anybody to install any ROMs on my phone. I`m not waiting for 72hrs to pass so that I can unlock bootloader and install Global ROM.

How do you like it so far? I wish it had nfc so i could use Android pay
I`m loving it. Side by side with S7, S7 looks like garbage. Its like Ford Fiesta vs Bentley
It has NFC and Android Pay in the Global ROM.
I paid £435 from geekbuying no other fee to pay amazing phone this one is a keeper for sure a iconic phone. That screen is just in your face it will turn heads.
I can only agree with above. Whoever sees this phone, they all are wooow, what is this ?! Who makes this, Apple?
Best phone I have ever owned purely due to quality of screen. Switched to EE network from Vodafone - zero issues with data/internet, quite fast.
I'm in the US, just purchased mine off Swappa. Hardware is incredible, but software is pretty bad. Miui lacks a lot of features I've grown to expect from Nougat phones (safetynet, split screen, double click recent to go to last app, nav bar that doesn't look awful, quick reply inside notifications, ambient display, etc).
Resurrection Remix is very close to being done. Only real issue left is a 2 second delay between when you click power button/double tap to wake/hit fingerprint sensor until screen turns on. MIUI is lightning fast, so it's definitely just software issue that can hopefully get fixed. Everything else is rock solid on RR, and it even passes safetynet. Once this wakeup lag gets fixed, phone will be perfect.

The lower spec Tencent version is not avaliable officially from Asus outside China and India, you can get it from China but you would need to convert it yourself to WW rom and change the fingerprint to WW rom. And you also won't get the official warranty from Asus.

I've to change the fingerprint reader (hardware)? Beh... In that way I would not use it. Not the fastest in the world... Face Unlock and done.
looks more like due to change of refresh rate.... higher refresh rate more red tint
Mine does also perform a slight change when switching between refresh rates, but I can't tell if there is an actual color change or just a brightness adjustment as it is very subtle. I considered this to be normal until now

Nope, it is hardware issue as there is no OLED screen without red tint issue. It is manufacture limitation. The only thing which phone maker can do, shove of display which had a lot of red tint (practically what expensive phone maker do (strict and better QC and QA)) and/or fix it via software (by playing with color, limit contrast and brightness (lot of phone maker do this)).
Dark grey in particular is very hard color to do it right (even on IPS panel). There will always something wrong with the implementation especially on low light condition. This is what Apple (and to some degree Samsung) good at (lol) and Google to boast their Pixel device.
Yes, the tint problem is HW but most of the times manufacturers try to make it less obvious by changing the frequency of the display or the voltage etc. Samsung has done a great job on 2019 devices as my father's A40 has an almost perfect display in terms of color accuracy and brightness
But i've tested the 5% gray test picture on both iphone x and blackberry priv and both of them showed a greenish tint and not much uniformity.
That's why i will always be in love with my old Sony x compact lcd display, it was perfect in every single aspect and I was never worried about burn-in issues.
Still dont understad why people prefer oled to a well made lcd...

There you go.
I'm going to buy the Moto G6 to replace a phone which recently stopped working.
Are there any major issues I should know about the phone before I commit?
Yes, absolutely. The phone comes with Android 8 Oreo, then is later updated to Android 9 Pie. That Pie update pretty much ruins the phone. It becomes very laggy and non-responsive. There is a 56-page thread on the Lenovo/Motorola forum on this problem. It appears Motorola is doing nothing to fix the problem, or even acknowledge it.
It's possible that doing a "Rescue" using the Lenovo Moto Smart Assistant will fix the problem, but there haven't been enough reports from those who've tried that to be sure about the result. I don't think anyone should buy the G6 at this point. If you have to have a Motorola phone, the G7 would probably be a safer option. But consider buying another brand.

One month with mine, so far so good. Excellent battery and decent game performance with October 1st patch.
I decided to get the Moto X Force. It's like 32 GB more storage, 21 MP camera, and dual SIM for the same price point...

I have just unboxed two G6 to prepare them for family members. I've gone through all the available OTA-Updates without doing anything else with the phone before.
Now it's sitting with Android 8.0.0 and security patch level September 2018 and it is claiming that this is the latest SW available.
Is there anything special to do in order to get the further updates?
That's very interesting information. I believe all the US G6 phones have been provided updates to Android 9 Pie, but I don't know about the European models. I guess there is a chance that Motorola has stopped upgrading to Pie in view of all the problems many have had as a result. For the US phones, all the updates were provided automatically, one at a time, and I believe the latest one is the October, 2019, update.
OK, Motorola's support told me that I have to install a SIM card to see all the further updates.
I have throwed in my own SIM and then I was able to go to a whole bunch of further updates ending up with Android 9 and October 2019 patch level as expected.
Now I am curious whether or not I am able to reproduce the widely reported lagginess...
I ordered this phone for my gf's xmas present today, she's looking forward to it and overdue for an upgrade. I never had any complaints with motorola phones and previously owned a moto g4. IMO they are still the best budget smartphones today. I always update new phones out of box to the latest software and then factory reset to avoid any possible glitches. And if my OCD kicks in I'll do factory reset twice lol, never had any software issues/lags after that. Some dislike the logo at the bottom of the phone, I actually like it. Already saw like 4 or 5 reviews for this phone on youtube including the pie update, so far it's everything I expected until it arrives.

I've been watching threads on G6 lag for awhile. I'm looking forward to your update. Based on what you've heard from Motorola regarding the need to install a SIM to get the latest updates, I'm wondering if lag problems are related to the carrier you're using. I'm using Sprint, and I'm experiencing lag.

Multiple people have reported that factory resets -- there are evidently a couple different ways to do it -- have improved the lag problem but that it returns after a short time. I've yet to see a report that confirms a factory reset has "solved" the lag problem. I'm hoping I just missed it.
Also, just to counter your experience in case others are interested, I had a G4 too. It developed a hardware problem after less than 2 years and wouldn't play any audio. I discarded it for the G6 I have now and, after less than two years, it's been all but ruined by the Android 9 update.
I'm really hopeful to see confirmation here or elsewhere that there is a definitive "fix" for the lag issue on this phone.

I bought the G4 for my mom, kept it stock and updated for 2 years never had any lag or hardware issues, still runs like OOB experience and runs perfect today. Forgot to mention another Motorola that I still have in excellent/like new condition, my FAVORITE phone of all time and wish they can make a replica with today's specs....my Nexus 6. Damn I miss that phone, trying out different roms, painting my front facing speaker grills with glow in the dark neon colors lol, using it for VR, it was impossible to brick and now it just sits in a shoe box with my other spare phones. All my phones are kept in military grade cases with screen protectors can't speak for hardware issues. I'll let you know how it goes after getting the G6 and setting it up with the latest software update.

I'm glad your experience has been better than mine. For the record, I re-flashed the firmware on my phone yesterday using LMSA. It's been less than a full day so far, but I can report that the phone is running like new. Of course, re-flashing does a factory reset and there are numerous settings that won't back up, so there is a fair bit of work to do to get the phone running the way it was. Also, I did a backup using LMSA, but after the re-flash, I couldn't find that backup with LMSA. Fortunately, I also backed up to the cloud and was able to restore everything that could be restored.

I am in Germany and in order to get all the updates I have inserted a SIM from Deutsche Telekom. After the last update package (the whole process took a hell of a lot of individual updates and reboots) I have done a full factory reset as well. Now the phones are provisioned for my kids. I am sure they will complain if the devices should become slower with time and more and more games installed.
Got the phone, did OTA updates without sim card and after 2 hours later it's running the latest software version 9.0 (October 2019). Did a factory reset/clear cache through recovery mode, set the phone back up and I loaded back all the apps, everything is running smooth so far, no complaints yet.
Hi All, I purchased the handset from China and had the Global ROM installed on the handset. There is no issue with the performance however the screen started to flicker badly when I set the FPS to Ultra. I wonder if anyone having the same issue or have a solution to this issue? There is no issue when the FPS is to ULTRA. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.
Never had that issue on any of my RM's or any of my other phones either.
Not specifically on ultra fps, I used to have my screen flicker when i changed the color tone in system settings.

I cannot find a sub-forum for this specific tablet, so I thought I'd post it here.
This is a Chinese-only 8-inch tablet with Snapdragon 870 and a 120Hz screen. I would very much like a small form-factor tablet with high refresh rate and this one seems to be the only one I can find on the Internet.
https://shop.lenovo.com.cn/lenovopc/product/y7002022022.html
Lenovo Legion Y700 - Full tablet specifications
www.gsmarena.com
It is just launched in China this month and there's not much information I can find about it outside China. I read Chinese so it is not a problem for me but I need to have Play Store on it as I live in the U. S. It looks like Lenovo has some track record of shipping their Chinese SKUs with GMS included so it is trivial to install Play Store from the ZUI app store. The P11 itself seems to be an international variant of such a Chinese SKU.
Does anyone have experience with this particular tablet? Or Lenovo's (Chinese) tablets in general?
Thanks!
Hi,
I own the Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus (TB-8704F). I'm also looking for a replace of this old tab but there isn't any hi-spec option until the Y700. FYI one down side of Lenovo machines is that the firmware is 'PRC' version if you buy it from Chinese market while they will have the 'ROW' version (rest-of-world) firmware for anywhere else.
AFAIK the difference is ROW version will have all g-apps preloaded and of course the play store. Yet you can't simply flash ROW version into PRC machine. My TB-8704F is from taobao so it was PRC firmware. I struggled several weeks to load the ROW firmware and luckily I made it. I've loaded the LineageOS also. However, I remember that certain variant of TB-7804 (TB-7804V as I remember) cannot load the ROW firmware. So I'm not buying the Y700 atm.
If google revivals the lovely Nexus 7 product line I definitely will wait for it.
I see the Y700 for sale on Aliexpress. $500 for the 12/256Gb version. Not sure if it is the ROW version or not. Be great to know if it can be unlocked and rooted. Hopefully there will be some developer support.
I was about to order a Ipad Mini 6 64GB for 550€. After I saw 60Hz and no vibration, I try to get a Y700.
On Aliexpress you can get it for 425$ with tax and shipping but from 10 days shipping it's now 35 days.
I saw some chinese videos. They compare the speaker with Ipad Pro.
You can also get it already from Giztop but I never order from there and 30$ shipping + already overpriced price. I will wait but this will be my new tablet because 8.8 inch 16:10
I want a Y700 to replace my Tab 4 8 plus with 4/64 memory. My Tab run TWRP and Lineage. Hopefully the Y700 will have the same one day.
Very interested in the video out support on the USB-c port.
I ordered an Y700 from Giztop, take some 2 weeks to get it tho
I have one on the way. Will report back with findings.

Since you can install Play store from the ZUI Appstore, is it worth it to pay more to have the Global Ron version with Google Play store pre installed?
How easy it is to install Google Play store from the ZUI app store?
What option do you have for multitasking? Can you have split screen in portrait mode with an app on top and the other at the bottom? Can you customize the side of each app?
Thank you

Personally, I think the meaning of "Global Rom" from seller are just they will help you install google relate stuff and add more language(no sure which method) to the device.
The google stuff you can just install from the ZUI app store as I mentioned. (easy as 1 tap download normal app for playstore)
Splitscreen can use on both portrait and landscape mode. Size can be adjust as well.
