Hi, I bought this small phone to use it as scaled monitor for a diorama. I read it can be upraded to Android version 4.4.4 with CyanogenMod 11.
However every link I found is dead. :crying:
I was able to install TWRP boot but I can't find a working link to download the rom, and as I wiped everything the phone is just useless now.
Any help will be appreciated, thank you.
I think this update zip-archive works with the GT-S5830i.

Didnt work, error 7 with CWM 6

Hi.
I have just flashed the unofficial CM11 rom on the Original Android Development Forum on my TF701T. The install appears to have been successful however the system keeps freezing anwhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes after boot. Before it freezes everything appears to be working as it should. Any ideas what I have done wrong and what I have to do to fix this? Apologies if the same issue has been raised elsewhere.
Many thanks

I've not heard of this ocurring (my own tab has been running for a while now; no issues of this sort).
Are you on the latest ROM build (01/29)? Have you flashed the appropriate gapps?
Are you on the latest boot loader?
Any apps installed which could cause issue?
If it happens when plugged in to USB, is isb OK on your PC/Mac?
Have you used titanium backup to restore system level stuff from a non compatible build?
Do this,
Go back to stock (latest release from asus) and observe for an hour or two. Any issues? If not then flash ROM + gapps and wipe. Don't sign in and don't restore apps. Any issues? Then sign in and restore. Any issues? And so on and so forth until.you find the break point.
Thank you for your prompt responses as always and apologies for not replying sooner.
SDbags I am installing CM11 over your own excellent 4.3+ stock rooted v2 ROM which I believe involved updating my boot loader. I am unsure how to confirm the version I am on but booting into recovery shows the following
Android Macallan-user BL released by ww_epad-10.26.1.7-20131108.
Pershoot once the new CM11 was first flashed the TF701 would freeze during the setup steps well before any 3rd party apps could be installed. After a number of attempts I manage to get through set up and the system becomes a lttle more stable but then freezes after a few more minutes. I can conform that the correct gapps has been flashed using the link on the associated thread and no additional apps except the ones included on the ROM have been flashed. The system freezes without being plugged into the PC via USB and as mentioned before I am coming from sdbags stock rooted 4.3 ROM and have not used titanium back up at all.
A couple of additional point
1) I have tried to reflash sdbags ROM again but it now gets stuck on a bootloop.
2) I noticed that my install of CM11 is not able to access either an SD card placed in the dock or MicroSD placed in the tab despite the system recognising when they are inserted or removed on the task bar.
3) Because the system freezes so quickly it tabvery difficult to transfer a new ROM downloaded to my PC over to the TF701 because the moment it freezes the PC can't communicate with the tab.
Apologies if this reply is a little onerous - any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you both again for your prompt response to my.request for help.
Kind regards,
East
Hold down Volume Down and Power and read the bootloader version from the top left.

That's the wrong BL to be on. I don't believe sdbags' ROM updates BL. You must do it via Asus's update.
Go back to stock recovery and follow asus's procedure to update yourself to their latest 10.26.1.18 (4.3) build.
Dear SD Bags & Pershoot,
Apologies for not responding to your feedback sooner - Its been a busy week at work.
I will follow your advise and update the bootloader via the ASUS website and try to reinstall the rom again over the weekend or early next week and I will update this thread with the results. Once again apologies for not following the instructions more carefully.
Many thanks & kind regards,

Hi felIas.
I have updated the bootloader as I should have done initially which appears to have sent me back to stock unrooted 4.3. Please could you confirm that all I need to do now is install the recovery image and then flash CM11 and GApps? Does the rom file work the same way as SDbags rom where it also roots the phone as part of the installation or do I need to somehow root first?
Having said all this I am considering leaving the system as stock until a work around for sky go on rooted 4.4.2 devices is found!
Many thanks again for your guidance and patience.

I have a work around for Sky Go on rooted devices You didn't ask.
PM Please.
Hey there I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing my problem. I updated to CM11 on my TF701 and while the dock and keyboard works some of the keys are dead i.e. Settings button, toggle wifi, toggle bluetooth, screenshot, disable trackpad, and auto brightness. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried editing the qwerty files and installing the asus keyboard apk, but neither worked. The APK did not install and editing the qwerty.kl file quite literally did nothing. Also curious if there is a way to get an external mouse to behave the way it did on JB left click is a standard touch and right click is back?

Kernel needs recompiling with fixes in it - not a huge job but something I have on my todo list - won't be for a while though.
Is there a thread I can subscribe to to get the latest news??
Sent from my Transformer TF701
Hi, I'm a newbie here. I want to say thanks to xda-developers for helping me thru the painful process of updating my P970 from 4.0.4 to 4.4.4 - and Wow, what a difference!!!
I want to give a few details of what I did, and what worked and didn't work. Firstly, I'd like to stress I did this on my OLD phone (my current phone is a Moto G running Android 5), so I had nothing to lose if I did brick it.
The Big NOOB how-to! and Upgrade Kit 3.7.5 |App 2 | Root, Flash, Unbrick, Tuts…were REALLY USEFUL but some of links were out-of-date or didn’t work so I had to do some searching around to find the downloads I needed.
I used Kingo ROOT to root my phone. I copied the latest NamelessROM Nightly to the SD card. At this stage I tried taking a shortcut and tried to use firstly ROM Installer and then ROM Manager to install the ROM. Neither of these apps worked and ROM Manager installed CWM which, I understand, is a no-no if you’re trying to update from 4.0.4 ICS v30B. It was at this stage I got the dreaded ‘Security error’ on the boot up screen. So I used SmartFlashTool to reinstall the 4.0.4 ICS v30B ROM. The procedure is described in this thread but I actually downloaded SmartFlashTool from the link in this Handy Forum thread – yes, it’s in german but it’s got a nice screenshot and the download links work.
I decided to try updating to 4.4.4 again but this time manually. I downloaded the latest version of TWRP from here and followed the procedure here to install it.
I also needed to run unlock bootloader as described in this thread, downloading the attached OptimusBlackBootloaderUnlocked.rar file and copying to my SD card.
I used TWRP to install the new ROM – a moment of triumph when it rebooted into 4.4.4 !!.
However, TWRP gave an error when I tried to install the full version of GAPPS that I had download to my SD card as a zip file – it was too large to install. Eventually I downloaded a Paranoid Android mini GAPPS from here and installed it successfully. By now I was using adb to push files from my PC to my SD card – much more convenient than having to take the micro SD card out and insert it (in an adaptor) into the SD slot on my laptop. The adb tutorial was useful for this and has download links.
So finally I have a rejuvenated Optimus Black running fully fledged Android KitKat 4.4.4. It’s vastly faster than 4.0.4 which took ages to fully boot, spending ages scanning for media files etc.
This is what worked for me. There's probably far easier/quicker ways of doing it that others in xda-developers can recommend, but I'm glad that as noobie I've been able to rejuvenate my old phone.
A big THANK YOU to all in xda-developers who made it possible.
Afternoon all!
Have been pulling my hair out for almost a week now trying to get this TF701 updated. I'm stuck trying to get the bootloader updated at this point. Curently version 10.6.1.14.10 I have been able to get the device unlocked and curently have twrp 2.8.7.2 installed. Before installing twrp I tried just about every rom update on asus website and the system wouldn't pick the file up as an update. Now that I have twrp installed I get an error "error executing updater binary in zip....." I am guessing that is because the bootloader is on an old version.
Can someone please give me a little guidance to get this updated.... any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Installing TWRP should automatically update your ASUS boot loader to the latest version. Are you sure that you have the tf701 and not another version, tablet? Also, which flavor or region of the tablet do you have US, WW? I am guessing that you downloaded TWRP and forced it to install through fastboot mode...?
DOH!!! Boy do I feel like a total moron! Went to check/confirm model number and it is indeed a TF700, not a TF701 like I swear I seen at first. Anyways it does look like I have the latest asus updates so all is good. I was also able to just successfully install Zombi-pop 5.1.1 and it's booting now for the first time. I have the US sku and I did use fastboot to load twrp.
boy I can't believe this....thank you very much for pointing out what I've over looked for a week now.
Can you click on the thanks button, it helps, Thanks!
lost and confused......

Hi. I trust you well. I was wondering if I could request your assistance with updating my TF701T to a new version of android. I have tried many methods and none has worked. I am actually more confused now as to where to start and what to download and install. If possible maybe direct me where I could get a step by step guide with the links to the correct downloads.
Kind Regards
Rob
Hi there,
we have this phone and manually rooted and flashed it. Now it runs on TWRP 2.7.8.0.
Since a few days Marshmallow OTA is shown but cannot be installed after download: Error "This package is for K50a40; this is a K3Note".
Nothing worked so far trying to update it. I tried using this method but also does not work out since I cannot get into original Recovery (pushing all 3 buttons as mentioned in this thread to choose language does not work).
Can anybody tell me how I may install this upgrade? I already downloaded the OTA file and stored it as update.zip on the phone. With TWRP updating will not work out. I only managed to get into normal recovery once but could not use it due to being in chinese only.
Any help on how to install this update is highly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!
Bye

I also had the same problem but mine said, Error "This package is for K50a40; this is a K50-T5".......
Sorry guys - need to bring this up again. Any hints? OTA update is still offered but cannot be installed due to said error.
Do I have to downgrade or install an older stock ROM in order to get updated? If so any hint or link (also to appropriate threads) is highly welcome!
Hello to everyone ... I'm new here and I register to site because I notice on google this site about what one can do with the HP Touch Pad and I'm hoping to get this unit up to par . I must say I never used before it was given to me by a family member and I just never bother using it until this week as to what I could do with it . So just to add it has 16gb and what is installed is HP TouchPad webOS 3.0.5 which seem to be pretty useless . Also, CyanogenMod ..... cm_tenderloin build .... Android 4.1.2 ... Kernel version 2.6.35-palm-tenderloin Mar 3 2013 . Now I have seen threads in this forum towards this pad . My question is what would you do with it if you had what I have install ? If I'm correct the webOS is pretty much a waste to have, yes ? And, if I were to get the latest Android build what would you suggest I do ? Thanks to anyone the replies
Anyone want to help out a total noob with this touch pad ? What I would like if possible from someone who would give me directions is installing the latest Android . I don't need what's on there now and would just love to run the latest Android if possible, wipe the whole thing clean and do a clean install of Android only .... I know for many from what's on this forum the threads in doing this stuff is easy but the more I read the more I'm confused . So if someone would be kind and tell me what I need to download ? What I have downloaded is Java, Novacom installer and TPToolbox v42. Which one is the Android latest ? And if there anything else I need to download ? Thanks

Thanks for responding with a link that I have had a look at and again this stuff maybe seem basic to understand to most but I'm not getting it . This is why I'm asking questions is a very slow pace understanding . Again, if anyone would be so kind to help me out with one step at a time it would be greatly appreciated . I'm using a PC with windows 7 . My tablet I don't care to back it up or upgrade it or save anything . I want to wipe it all off and install I believe Marshmallow which I believe is the latest Andriod, yes ? Though I am not sure which file I need for it . What I have downloaded onto my computer is UniversalNovacomInstaller, TPToolbox v42 and java . Can you tell me what else I need ? Thanks
Just an update as to what I have done. I downloaded and installed both the java and the UniversalNovacomInstaller 1-4-1 . I have the TPTool v42 on my desktop. I rebooted the tablet into recovery mode . I double click on the tptb_v42_win.bat file and get >> Cannot find Touchpad Toolbox binary file TPToolbox-2015-01-00-v42.bin ... press any key to continue and nothing happens after that . Is the TPToolbox corrupted or am I missing something? Thanks
No wonder I was confused I couldn't get the tptoolbox to load . Once I uninstalled the UniversalNovacomInstaller 1-4-1 and all its traces and reinstalled I got the toolbox to load . Now I am off to learn to understand as to how to install android . One question if someone would be kind enough if I place these zip files >>> cm-13.0 tenderloin , flintman TWRP touch data media , gapps 444 - base in my Touchpad ttinstall folder am I on the right track?
Well it look like flintman TWRP touch data media doesn't work, got an error for it . So basically I wanted to install Marshmallow but I don't believe I have the correct files for it . So what I have downloaded now are >>> [ROM] Evervolv | 6.0.0p1 [AOSP Marshmallow 6.0.1] [3.4 kernel] [nightlies] With DM , gapps-601-base-20160606-1-signed.zip . My question now is for the recovery file will any do or does it have to be a certain one to go these other files, and if so, which recovery file should I download, thanks
That didn't work either above but I did manager to get 5.1 installed . Now that I got a OS installed the guide make sense but when a newbie is learning and the dame NovacomInstaller isn't working it sure can make matter very confusing
Dude905,
Novacom is a webOS tool/driver and before TP Toolbox was released was the way to load up Android. As you already had Android installed you would also have had TWRP or CWM. These could be used to flash the latest version of themselves or even go to the Play store and install TWRP Manager. From there, you just needed to download a ROM and use TWRP (I prefer) to install the ROM and relevant GAPPS (Google Play Store stuff).
The TPToolkit works well with 4.x and 5.x but not 6.x or 7.x yet. Everything you need to get 4 or 5 working should be listed in the TP Toolbox thread. The problem is there is a lot of info to read and understand.
Thanks for responding. As a Windows user which I never used anything but learning this stuff does take a lot of reading . I have a better understand of it than when I first started. I wouldn't say I'm there yet 50% maybe but at least I was able to install KitKat 5.1 thanks to the easy to use TPToolbox, that dude made my life easier and he deserves a big THANK YOU . If by chance he does created TPToolbox for 6 and 7 that would be really good news and I would even throw him a few dollars for it .
I've been reading through this forum for the last couple days - haven't started anything. This post is EXACTLY where I'm starting. I have Webos and cyanogen -
Android 4.2.2
2.6.35-palm-tenderloin
Cyanogenmod version 10.1-20130330-unofficial tenderloin
Build Date Mar 29, 2013
Anyway - I want to do the same thing. I'm building this for my kid - and would like it as up to date as possible.
Do I wipe it clean or do I have it set up to just load a new rom already? I completely forget how I did all this. I got to a point where all I had to do was copy a file over and reboot. Again, I forget how I got it to this point. I haven't touched this touchpad in more that 2 years. I spent yesterday charging it and wondering if it would ever turn on. Took like 10 hours to charge!
Dude905 - think you could point me where you started?
@osubg1 sure no problem if I can. Remember though I too am learning but I was able to load Kitkat on both of mine tablets . Now I basically didn't care to keep WebOS since I myself find no use for it . Ok, So what I done was first download java onto my computer . Then I downloaded that easy to use Tptoolbox v42 . After that I put these 3 into a folder >> cm-12.1-20151116-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip, FLINTMAN-TWRP-touch-data_media-SELINUX-2.8.3.0-12-23-14.zip and gapps-511-base-20160929-1-signed.zip . I then download the UniversalNovacomInstaller-1.4.1.jar. What I done was place Tptoolbox and UNovacominstaller in a folder together . So I have 2 folders One for the Tptoolbox and UNovacominstaller and the other with >> cm-12.1-20151116-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip, FLINTMAN-TWRP-touch-data_media-SELINUX-2.8.3.0-12-23-14.zip and gapps-511-base-20160929-1-signed.zip.... Now I unzip the TPtoolbox within the folder so it would all be in that folder . I then installed UniversalNovacomInstaller-1.4.1.jar, afterwards I loaded the Tablet into the WebOS recovery mode and once that was done I plug it into the computer . Now there going to be a time when the UniversalNovacomInstaller will pop up a folder ttinstall and you need to copy cm-12.1-20151116-SNAPSHOT-jcsullins-tenderloin.zip, FLINTMAN-TWRP-touch-data_media-SELINUX-2.8.3.0-12-23-14.zip and gapps-511-base-20160929-1-signed.zip.... into that folder . I then started tptb_v42_win.bat file from the Tptoolbox at which time you'll notice it loading to the tablet . I then selected wipe it all from the selection and click yes 3 times . Once that was done I selected to install at which time you unmounted and start the installation process . Now this is just for KitKat which isn't the latest Android but it's good enough for what I need it for . If you want the latest I believe you need to flash it within kitkat but I haven't read up on that part to much . I hope it helps and if you get stuck I will try to help you through it . good luck
