Pebble Time Steel refusing to start up (Android) - Pebble

Hi folks,
maybe someone can assist: After a couple of good years of use I completedly switched off my trusted Pebble Time Steel for the first time. A few days later (maybe like 10 days actually) I wanted to start it up again - but no way of turning it back on. I had recharged it before switching of. I have switched to Rebble IO lang ago and things were working well, albeit battery performance was slowly decreasing (like every four days needing recharge). I have hooked it up to the charging cable and then tried pressing all sorts of combination of buttons while it was connected to the charging cable... Alas, to no avail.
Would be super if you had any advice!
Thanks in advance
marv

Charging screen must be appear when you plug the charge cable (before power ON) so if no charging screen maybe contact dirty or bad contact or bad cable or bad wall charger

I second that: dirty contacts is worth investigating. I had to regularly clean the contacts on my PTS back to get the charge screen displayed on the watch when plugged-in. But all in all your battery seems also to be close to the end of its lifetime...

Thank you so much for the quick response, mes tres cheres amies! That was my thinking from the beginning. So I carefully cleaned both sides, the contacts on the cable and the one at the back of the watch (c'ete assez crad, qu'on meme). After that I used some WD40 to make sue the connection was good. No luck - dammit! In the previous weeks it had become problematic to get a good charging connection, but after a couple of tries I was always successful. Putain, est-ce que j'ai bousier la montre???

Normally I "clean" the contacts on my PTS back with alcohol and/or by scratching them with a tiny metallic tool (screwdriver...). Never used WD40 for this, so I'm not sure how effective it is.
Do you have a spare Pebble cable, in case your cable has broken? Or a multimeter to see if the cable is still working?

Thx! Yip, that's what I've been doing: Using a needle actually. Retried it with some lighter fluid - no luck. But thanks for the tip with the mult-meter. Will try to find one and see if the cable is working. There's still hope...

Ahhhh shucks. Got the multi-meter from my neighbour and the charging cable is delivering pow as it should. Damn, I suspect I somehow killed off my PTS while cleaning the contact. We tried to measue the contact and no life is showing up.... Ah well. Thanks for your awesome help anyways!

[Q] Problem with charging HTC One

Hello everyone,
I just have this problem with charging my HTC One,
I use my phone very much and usually I charge it every night. Everything went well until today : when I connected the phone to the wall charger (the one that came with the One), it only shows this message : please use supported charger. i tried to connect another phone to this charger : it worked well, then I tried to connect the One to another wall charger and another USB cord : it shows the same message.
I turned off the phone then did a full wipe : still the same problem. In fast boot, when it's connected to the wall charger, it's showed Fastboot AC. When turned off and connected to the charger, I see the red Led for 5-10 second, then the led turn off and the button blinking.
Can someone help me about this problem, please?

Have the same problem except it stopped charging all together and connecting to the computer. It only charges when off with the same red led issue and takes forever to fully charge. I decided to send it in to htc since its under the one year warranty after going through troubleshooting with them. The only problem is the bootloader is unlocked and the maximus rom is installed so hopefully they still fix it. I will update this as soon as i know what happens.

Thank you, but I'm kinda scared to overheat the phone as with the One X the blinking led is for the overheating.
I cant connect to my computer to flash an RUU. I will try to contact Htc too

May sound far fetched, but try blowing air into the charge port. Sometimes small debreas can cause charge problems. It has worked for me. Also heard it worked for someone who's kept getting extremely hot n started smoking whenever they tried charging it. All it was, is a little debrea in port. Hope this helps

Sorry to hear it didn't work, hope you get the problem resolved. If you blew in it with your mouth, it may not have been enough. Might try compressed air. Like the cans of air used for spraying out keyboards. Are you rooted, using any other kernel other than stock? It's probably just a bad charge port being it was working prior.

Same thing for me. Even when I'm not trying to charge, the 'Unable to charge device' notification keeps popping up and waking the screen. The funny thing is when I flash the CM10 rom it seems to be charging fine and my PC is also detecting it!
I would send in to HTC if it wasn't for my unlocked bootloader. So this is probably the best solution for now if you're in the same situation as me.
Moesho, please let us know if HTC fixes this issue even with unlocked bootloader.
I'm traveling right now. I will try to flash the GE edition then.
I tried to send an e mail to HTC, the only advice they could give me was to boot in safe mode, but it didn't work.
I only wish i could flash an RUU to send it to HTC

good news
Htc sent the phone back i should have it by wednesday. They said it was some board that has to do with usb charging so they did cover it. I even asked the guy surprisingly he said Im lucky that they fixed it considering it was unlocked with a rom and i should keep it stock for a while just in case.
I will try to flash the stock odexed rom and the boot.img from mike1983. So @moesho did Htc said it was a problem with the One build or its a problem due to our use?

Good to hear Moesho!
I too spoke to T-Mobile customer service today and they are sending me a brand new phone, no questions asked! Well, they are going to inspect my phone when I send it in and the customer rep said as long as I don't have any physical wear and tear I should be good. Yay!
I did get my phone to stock condition (i.e. stock recovery, bootloader locked, 'TAMPERED' removed, S-ON) before I send it in, just in case.
Well I put my One into a bag of rice for 2 day and miracle happens, I could charge it again. But i still have a problem. The phone randomly start the car app and close. I will flash stock rom and send it back to Htc. Im in France and I contacted HTC on their support website if someone wonders

Sadly if the phone was wet, it will have turned the liquid indicators red and that voids the warranty

How to re-activate

My Gear V700 used for a few months, when I re-charge it, it cannot be charge even overnight.
The charging animation only flash a second when I plug the power cord, sometimes even no response.

unfortunately, you are incorrect, i just used a 24v power supply and charged the internal battery, 2 slots from the battery, that is where i inserted the Positive and Negative Cables
The Simple answer the battery is drained of its power, CHARGE IT!!!!!
I had the same problem. Try to charge your watch 1 day long(24 hours), then use your PC USB to charge your watch over night. Then you have full charged and full working Gear Watch. Sorry for my bad English...

That's why wireless charging receivers.
Btw I am naive to the topic but I don't think wireless charging would be efficient or fast as it's intended to be because of the metal back on 5T

Yeah, wireless charging's not all that it's cracked up to be. (not unless the devices themselves have the built in capability) but for my OnePlus 5 though, I still prefer to use the proper charging cable.. Would be nice if they one day bring out a more reliable wireless way to do fast charge, as I do like the idea in concept, but for now, it's back to the oldschool way.
Let me know if you try any though and get any success with it.
(But I have a feeling you're going to find the same as me, where TypeC cable is still the best option). For now, at least.
I use one. And it's not an problem at all. Works at expected. Obviously not as fast as wired charging but is great for overnight when sleeping.
There isn't really a need for wireless charging if you're not a person who lets say work at an EXTREMELY fast paced workplace and use your phone a lot so the time it takes to unplug and stuff is an inconvenience. Wireless is so slow compared to cable Dash charge and since the 5t got great battery life and the super fast charging i cant see a scenario when you would need charging so often that wireless charging makes it easier. And for those who say its great for overnight charging should really not, Since overnight charging isn't great for any battery whatsoever.

No offence but before you start saying things like "since overnight charging isn't great for any battery" and spewing wrong information. You should do some research. There is absolutely no harm at all to batteries leaving on a charger. None whatsoever.

The more cycles your battery go through, the worse batteries get in the capacity department. Constantly charging batteries while the phone is using a small amount of power all the time is not good if you want to keep your battery capacity high for a long time.

i tried a couple, and i am using one that is not the most popular among all I tried according to amazon review. if you search in this forum you should be able to find mine.
i don't know how it affect the battery health. too many issues that might affect that. i just want to say that these receivers do not work as good as those built-in. Sometimes the charging may not be triggered until a reboot. This happens almost every other day on me. But if you have many charging station everywhere like me (invested when i had a S6 and S7), you still have the convinence.

With how good this phone is I don't often need to quick charge in a pinch. I am really hoping OP7 has wireless charging integrated

Usb C Note 9 loose and wiggly any fix?

My two weeks Note 9 have this issue... I try with a different usb cables and cleaning the USB port of my device, this is the original cable that comes in the box, but is the same... To be clear, the USB works well, any problem with transfer files or charge the battery, the only problem is that is loose and I don't know if this is normal.

I had this with my pixel. Take a really thin pin and clean around the port. You will be surprised at the compacted lint that comes out. My cable fit super tight after that.
The cable fits tight because the cable don't fall off, I could even hang up my phone without it falling off. The only thing is this wiggle that shows in the video that I made...

Do they allow fast charging? I've been looking at the magnetic charging cables for a while now, but they always get mixed reviews, especially when it come to fast charging.
If these fast charge and are reliable for data transfer, then I'll pick up a three pack. Probably still wouldn't trust them for flashing firmware through ODIN.

Fast Charging - Yes!
Data Transfers - Yes!
As for Flashing a ROM, I would Always choose a Direct connection rather than Magnetic. I wouldn't want ANY chance of a Cable Interruption Ever if the Cable was to get bumped.

Well I went to a Samsung store and they told me that this was not a problem, because it works well and the cable does not fall, it only loose a bit but it has good grip, so neither how to claim a guarantee if there is no problem... :/

Ordered. Received. And returned. One of the cables fast charged and has a good strong magnet. The other two had a weak magnet and wouldn't fast charge. Wouldn't charge my Note 9 at all actually. Plus leaving the tip in the phone is impractical. It sticks out way too far. Looks kinda ridiculous.

1. You Have to Choose the 7th Generation Cables in order to Fast Charge.
2. Fast Charge will depend also on the Wall Charger. If it's a QC3 type of Wall Charger, then you should get Fast Charging without any Problems at all.
3. As for the Magnet being weak, maybe you just got a bad one.
4. As for the Magnet sticking out of the Phone, I and Most All people that I talk with and have gotten the Cables use a Rugged case like I do, so it don't stick out visibly.
Here's the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro Case that I use.

If you have Any issue with the Cables, then you have 2 solutions. The First is to Contact Amazon and the Second is to Contact NetDot. Wither way, the Problems can be taken care of.

Yes it is working fine on pc but there is nothing on phone
If you have dex working on the laptop and the phone and nothing is happening.
Try with a different cable. It did not work with the Samsung cable that came with my phone. It did not work with one plus 5 cable. But it did work with One Plus 6 cable. I plan to buy a new Samsung cable. But their life is not good esp if you use fast charging I find they hardly last a year for some reason.
